Angel Locsin's Re-entry as Jacintha Magsaysay Helps Improve the Ratings of "La Luna Sangre"

Primetime viewing gets more intense as award-winning actress Angel Locsin joins the cast of ABS-CBN’s hit fantasy action drama “La Luna Sangre” as the mysterious Jacintha Magsaysay.

Angel plays Jacintha, the campaign strategist Sandrino (Richard Gutierrez) wants on board his team to make sure he wins the presidency.

Jacintha is a very mysterious person. She used to live abroad and became popular after she helped a presidential candidate, who got involved in a big scandal, win. She is really good at what she does, so Sandrino looked for her so she can help him become the next president of the Philippines,” said Angel.

Star Creatives creative Manager Henry Quitain added, “Compared to Lia, Jacintha is a human being. If we watch closely, we can see her sophistication while she speaks and she is affluent. She can keep up with anybody and she speaks her mind.”

Netizens warmly received Angel’s surprise entry that effortlessly trended online. Lead star Kathryn Bernardo was also among the many people excited for Angel’s new character.

I didn’t have the chance to tell Kathryn earlier since it was a secret. I didn’t know who else knew about my character. However, before the episode aired last night, I already texted her and said ‘Kath, I’ll see you soon.’ The she replied with so many emoticons so I think she’s just as happy as I am,” Angel shared.

"La Luna Sangre" recorded a national TV rating of 36.2% as viewers saw more of Jacintha Magsaysay (Angel Locsin), compared to its rival show "Mulawin vs. Ravena" (15.3%).

What role will Jacintha play in the lives of Tristan, Malia, and Sandrino? How will she shake things up in the hit primetime series?

Don’t miss “La Luna Sangre,” weeknights after “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” on ABS-CBN and on ABS-CBN HD (SkyCable ch 167). Catch up on the show’s past episodes via iWant TV or skyondemand.com.ph for Sky subscribers. For more updates, follow @starcreatives on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

After several years, their paths once again cross in a cruise ship where Sophia is working as a seawoman and Nicolas as one of its passengers. Because of Nicolas' ‘uncanny resemblance’ to the man who saved her life, Sophia insists on knowing Nicolas and tries to learn about his past.

As they spend more time together, they fall in love with each other, but the immortal man’s curse gets in their way and keeps them from having their happy ever after.

But aside from the unbreakable spell, Sophia’s lover Philip (Ejay Falcon) will also make sure that Sophia and Nicolas do not end up together and will do whatever it takes to win her heart back. 3 Reasons to Watch Daniel Radcliffe's Rom-Com "What If" on TAG TV

Daniel Radcliffe takes off his wizard robe and transforms into a friendzoned boy-next-door who thinks he already met the one in the romantic comedy film “What If,” airing on cable channel TAG TV this weekend.

Wallace (Daniel) is a med school dropout nursing a broken heart who unexpectedly encounters Chantry (Zoe Kazan) at a house party. The two connect right away until Chantry shoves Wallace away and reveals that she has a boyfriend.

Here are three reasons why “What If” is a must-watch rom-com flick:

1.    It’s “When Harry Met Sally” for millennials.

Peter Travers compared the film to a rom-com classic in rollingstone.com. “This rom-com is really an updated take on ‘When Harry Met Sally’… for millennials. Daniel Radcliffe and Zoe Kazan spin sweet magic out of blah-blah-blah clichés. I like when that happens.”

2.    Adorable casting.

Jordan Hoffman cited the film’s great casting in theguardian.com. He wrote, “through it all, though, anyone without a heart black as coal will sit in the theater transforming into human mush and mumbling “aww”.The reason for this – above all else – is the casting. Radcliffe and Kazan are adorable and vulnerable and sincere in equal measure, but this really is Radcliffe’s movie.”

3.    Sparkling performances.

According to Justin Chang of variety.com, “their endless dithering is made not just tolerable but ingratiating thanks to sparkling performances and a level of wit, whimsy and self-conscious genre riffery that never gets in the way of emotional sincerity.”

Catch the surprising love story in “What If” airing on cable channel TAG TV this Saturday (September 9) at 8pm with replay on Sunday (Sept. 10) at 10am. Tag TV brings Filipino-dubbed foreign films showcasing a collection of rom-coms, dramas, action-packed movies, thrillers, comedies, and the freshest Hollywood and Asian titles.

TAG TV is available on Skycable Channel 77 and Sky Direct Channel 44. For more information, like TAG TV on Facebook and follow its official Twitter and Instagram accounts (@TagTVph).

How did Loloy lead everyone to safety? What did he do when his son suddenly wanted to give up the fight?

Loloy is among those featured in Jeff Canoy and Val Cuenca’s special online report titled "Buhay Pa Kami" published via ABS- CBN News Online. The report created a buzz and was widely shared on social media for its heartwarming stories about the different people affected by the war in Marawi.

5 Places You're Likely to Encounter an "Anino"

Every Pinoy grew up hearing scary tales of supernatural creatures, otherwise known as "anino," from our parents, grandparents, yayas, and classmates. Many stories were told to make us stay away from certain places else we encounter various "anino"— creatures of the darkness responsible for weird, unexplainable occurrences.

Whether you want to avoid the supernatural altogether or actually go looking for them, iWant TV's original digital horror series "Umbra" tells the vivid stories behind different "anino" from all over the country that won't fail to creep us out—especially when you find yourself in locations where they're usually found.

1. Cemeteries in Mindoro

We've all heard of the "White Lady" in different forms, but the White Lady of Mindoro, Batangas, is known as "Lugay" for her long white hair. Lugay is said to creep around cemeteries, catching a ride on her victims' cars and motorcycles as they drive by. Next time you're at a cemetery, beware of this ghostly creature - many locals from generations ago and to this day still swear by real-life encounters with Lugay.

2. Wooded areas, antique shops, and antique furniture in or from the Ilocos Region

Ever heard of stories of sudden, unexplained deaths where the victim goes to sleep and never wakes up? Philippine folkore, especially in Ilocos will probably blame it on the dreaded "bangungot," brought on by the forest creature "Batibat" that resides in old trees. As the legend goes, old trees cut down for use in houses and furniture can anger Batibat, who in turn attacks the humans sleeping near the remnants of the cut-down trees. The Batibat sits on the chest of his victim, suffocating him in his sleep. Beware this ominous character when you're on a camping trip, trip to the province, or surrounded by antiques.

3. Old buildings, churches, and hospitals in Luzon and Visayas

Believers say that when the "Mangangatok" comes knocking on your door, you're in for a lot of bad luck, or worse, death. Storytellers warn urban dwellers as the Mangangatok roams the cities; this creature knocks on doors but isn't visible to its victims. Answering a Mangangatok's knock will make the dwellers inside a home its victims. Elders say that to avoid this, one must check carefully before opening their doors to unexpected knocks.

4. Capiz, Iloilo, and Antique

The "Manananggal" is one of the most famous beings in Filipino folkore, and they're found in these Visayan provinces. The Manananggal appears as a normal human by day, but turns into a scary, decapitated creature. As legend goes, the Mananggal's upper body flies off into the night to terrorize victims, often going for expectant mothers and killing them as they feed off the unborn child. Believers warn against taking trips to these places when pregnant, because some versions of the story tell of the Manananggal disguised as a doctor pretending to help, only to gather more victims for prey.

5. Rural, remote areas

This creepy creature in the form of a baby is one of the scariest stories told to children, since both infants and dolls could be a "Tiyanak." This scary creature is known in various cultures, but are said to abound in rural, remote provinces. According to myths, Tiyanaks are born when its parents are struggling; some versions will say a Tiyanak is born to attack an unfaithful father. Still other versions say the tiyanak is the ghost of an unwanted baby, or a baby who dies before birth. The tiyanak is a type of vampirical baby who is born to suck the life out of its victims, lurking in the dark and waiting to pounce on its victims.

Tom Cruise Exploits the American Dream in "American Made"

Smuggler. Informant. Patriot. Barry Seal has gone from a well-respected TWA pilot to a key figure in one of the greatest scandals in modern U.S. history. What started out as transporting contraband would lead to Barry's help in building an army and funding a war.

Tom Cruise plays the real-life Barry Seal in Universal Pictures' American Made, in Philippine cinemas September 13.

(Watch the American Made featurette Who is Barry Seal at http://youtu.be/94Y4cHzeU-U.)

The quintessential American success story, Seal was recruited for surveillance activities on communist activities in Central America, and ultimately to deliver weapons to rebels in that area who were fighting communists. The U.S. war on drugs and the war on communism had two fronts, and Seal knew them equally well.

"He was a real opportunist, and he had an empty airplane on the way back," says director Doug Liman. "If it absolutely had to be there overnight and it was illegal, Barry Seal was your guy. Since he was conducting illegal operations with the CIA's help, he could get in and out of the country undetected. Well, there was no point flying back with an empty airplane, so Barry thought he might as well bring drugs back with it. So he ended up working for both the U.S. government and for the Colombian drug cartel at the same time, and unbeknownst to the other. He played both sides, and became fabulously wealthy while he was doing it. Still, it was never about the money for Barry. It was about the excitement, the challenge and all about the flying."

Seal's tale is so impossible to believe that it requires the satiric, ironic and often tragically funny tone and P.O.V. that American Made adopts.

A pilot himself, Cruise gravitated toward the human elements in Barry's life, as Barry tries desperately to keep a normal family in the midst of challenging choices. He is crazy about his wife, Lucy, and will do whatever it takes to keep her and their kids happy. Their marriage is passionate, but practical.

Cruise was also drawn to this wild story because he'd never met a character like this one. He shares: "Barry Seal lived in a very unique time that we'll never have again in aviation, or in history. He had this incredibly adventurous life, and one that is just beyond belief. He was a character walking through history. It was just too outrageous to believe, and in this day and age, it's something that will never happen again."

Not only was Cruise fascinated by Seal's pioneering spirit, but also how dichotomous this man was. "Barry was a great pilot, and a man who loved his family," he states. "Still, he's very much an antihero who wanted an adventurous life. I don't condone the things he did, but you can't help but see that he had this wish fulfillment. He was someone who lived beyond the rules in a way that was unique to that time period in aviation. Today, everything's very controlled and corporate, and air spaces are contained. The things that he and his other pilots were able to do were outrageous."

American Made is distributed by United International Pictures through Columbia Pictures.

TFC Supports Martin Nievera's Historic Concerts in Las Vegas and Honolulu this September Labor Day weekend

It's rare for any artist to have almost back-to-back concerts in two of the biggest cities for entertainment – Las Vegas and Honolulu.  Moreover, it's even rarer for artists to hold such concerts in premier venues like the M Resort Spa Casino and Blue Note Jazz Club Restaurant.

But trust Philippine Concert King Martin Nievera to pull off such a feat.  After all, he has several records of being first in his colorful career as a live concert performer, recording artist, musician, composer, actor and producer. Martin was the first Goodwill Ambassador of ABS-CBN The Filipino Channel (TFC), the leading Filipino media and entertainment network. He was also the first Ambassador for the Bantay Bata Program of ABS-CBN Foundation which has become a model for child care, rescue and protection services. Most recently, Martin became TFC's first artist to perform the U.S. national anthem ahead of a Golden State Warriors game at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California back in March of this year. And these are just a few to mention because he also set records in terms of platinum record sales and concert attendance.

This September, TFC celebrates world-class Filipino American talent Martin Nievera in his historic Labor Day weekend special concerts in the U.S.

First, on September 2, Martin became the first Filipino American artist to perform at the swanky M Resort Spa Casino on Las Vegas Boulevard in Henderson, Nevada.  The location is near the affluent neighborhood of Southern Highlands.  Joining Martin in the concert was the legendary Society of Seven or S.O.S., one of the best variety show bands ever that started as The Fabulous Echoes in Hong Kong before adopting the S.O.S. name in the 60s in Hawaii. Here they became the concert destination for many Hawaiian locals and visitors at the Outrigger Waikiki Hotel for over 30 years.  Martin, whose father Bert Nieverawas a former member of S.O.S., created musical magic with the latest batch of this fabulous band.

Then on September 4, Monday, Labor Day holiday in the U.S., Martin again becomes the first Filipino American talent to have not one, but two solo concerts at the Blue Note Hawaii on Kalakaua Avenue in Honolulu. Blue Note Hawaii was borne out of a partnership between Outrigger Resorts and Blue Note Entertainment Group, owner of music clubs in New York, Washington D.C., Milan and two locations in Japan. Just as they claim, Blue Note Hawaii serves as the state's premier venue for world-renowned artists, from jazz and blues to Hawaiian favorites. Located in the former Society of Seven showroom inside Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort, Blue Note Hawaii features a wide range of musical entertainment – from local talent to international sensations – for limited engagements.

These concerts of Martin, as of this writing, are SOLD OUT as seen on http://www.ticketweb.com/search?q=blue+note+hawaii+martin&loc=honolulu-hi&REFID=bnweb&PL=bluenote But you can take your chances and call 808.777.4890.

This is TFC offering a great way for everyone in the U.S. to celebrate with great music, fine dining and a wonderful experience with loved ones this Labor Day weekend.

Revitalize and Bring Back The Youthful Glow in You with WATSONS "Time to Renew" Campaign

Heads up, everyone! Watsons knows you've got so much on your plate that you forget to give yourselves some tender love and care. You've been juggling between work and play, trying to cover as much ground as possible that you tend to spread yourself too thin. And because of this, it is no surprise that you forget to take care of yourself that it eventually takes a toll on your overall well-being.

Watsons is here to help you to revitalize your youthful vigor and bring back the vitality you need to enjoy life!

To help you get back on track, Watsons started the "Time to Renew" campaign to lead people back to restoring their beauty and recharging their health.

The campaign focused on three categories that most of people tend to set aside to accommodate their tight schedules-Restore your Beauty for proper skin care, Revitalize your hair to bring life back to dull tresses, and Recharge your health for a more energized and healthier body.

Because of busy schedules, we tend to develop poor sleeping habits that not only affect our mood but also contribute to the dullness of our skin, which makes it prone to blemishes, dry skin, acne and oily skin. At Watsons, restoring your skin's beauty is now made easy with products like Pond's, Olay, L'oreal, Belo, Celeteque, Neutrogena, asnow, St.Ive's, Suave, Bellic, Glutamax, Shulammite soap, Cosmo Skin and Nivea Men creme.

But more than our skin, it's most often that we forget about protecting our hair. Not being able to cover it up with any sort of sun shield because we're in a rush or just don't have the time can result to hair problems-it gets greasier, we become more prone to hair fall, and greying hair. Taking care of our hair doesn't end with simply shamppoing ams conditioning. Our hair also needs intensive protection from the sun and heat styling products, especially for those who love playing with their locks. Make it a point to revitalize your hair with hair loving products like Tresseme, L'Oreal, Dove and Moringa.

It's important to recharge your health to achieve the 100% you. But when the going gets really tough, there comes a point where even our eating and exercise habits are put aside in the shelf. Little do we know that skipping exercise and meals lead to lack pf energy and lack of nutrition. With Watsons' healthy solutions such as Cosmo Cee, Poten-Cee, MetTathione, M Collagen, Myra E Stresatans, Bello Glutathione, Snow  Caps and Kilo-off, you can have a healthier life and get in tip-top shape in no time.

Restore your beauty and recharge your health with Watsons!

Enjoy big discounts and great deals for your health and beauty products exclusive at all Watsons stores and SM Store Beauty Section. Plus get a chance to win revitalizing packages with your SM Advantage Card, BDO or PriMo Card.

Things Get Stranger for Finn Wolfhard in Horror-Thriller "IT"

Young actor Finn Wolfhard became an overnight sensation when he starred in the smash hit Netflix original series Stranger Things, as Mike Wheeler, a bullied young man who becomes an unlikely hero in the quest to save his best friend.

Now, Wolfhard stars as Richie Tozier in New Line Cinema's upcoming horror thriller IT (in Philippine cinemas September 7).

Richie Tozier is a motor-mouthed jokester peering out from behind Coke-bottle glasses. Wolfhard says, “Richie is sort of a goofball, who loves videogames and television, which is something we share. He tries to be the entertainer of the group, except no one thinks he’s as funny as he thinks he is. They get annoyed with him and just brush him off. After Georgie goes missing, things start getting more serious and Richie begins to realize that something is very wrong in Derry…something he can’t laugh off.

IT, in many ways, has a very familiar feel to Stranger Things. The characters live in the bubble of a small town combined with kids fighting demonic forces.

I shot it directly after Stranger Things,” explains Wolfhard. “It was similar but different. It was a bigger crew, you had to answer to more people. It was kind of like going to college, and a bigger-budget kind of thing. But it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had in my life.

In a recent appearance in TV's Good Morning America, Wolfhard admits that IT's monster, Pennywise, is scarier than the Demogorgon in Stranger Things. "The Demogorgon you could kill, for real, but Pennywise can shapeshift into anything and is kind of immortal in a sense," Wolfhard added. "I think that's why he's scary because he's more of a being."

New Line Cinema’s horror thriller IT, directed by Andy Muschietti (Mama), is based on the hugely popular Stephen King novel of the same name, which has been terrifying readers for decades.

The film tells the story of seven young outcasts growing up in the township of Derry, Maine, who call themselves “the Losers’ Club.” Each of them has been ostracized for one reason or another; each has a target on their back from the local pack of bullies…and all have seen their inner fears come to life in the form of an ancient shapeshifting predator they can only call It.

For as long as their town has existed, Derry has been the entity’s hunting ground, emerging from the sewers every 27 years to feed on the terrors of its chosen prey: Derry’s children. Banding together over one horrifying and exhilarating summer, the Losers form a close bond to help them overcome their own fears and stop a new killing cycle that began on a rainy day, with a small boy chasing a paper boat as it swept down a storm drain…and into the hands of Pennywise the Clown.

A presentation of New Line Cinema, IT will be released worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Entertainment Company.

May Forever sa Traffic in 1:43 Comeback Single "Trapik Tralala"

Traffic congestion wastes your precious time. And it may also cost you your love life.

This is the bittersweet theme of revitalized Filipino boyband 1:43’s comeback single titled “Trapik Tralala,” which speaks of a young man’s growing exasperation as he finds himself stuck in traffic on his way to see the girl of his dreams.

Composed by OPM icon Jim Paredes and arranged by Sonic State Audio Studio’s Jonathan Ong, “Trapik Tralala” was originally a part of the APO’s 1996 album Dating Alternatib but which was not
released as a single, then.

The guy fails to make it to his date but what the hey, he opts to look at the brighter side of things - he
composed a song while stuck in traffic.

Although it has yet to be released on various digital music platforms, “Trapik Tralala” is already enjoying heavy airplay on FM radio stations nationwide. On September 1, Friday, it will be available on Spotify, iTunes, Amazon Music, and Deezer in over 240 countries worldwide.

Chris Cahilig, 1:43 founder and manager, is confident that “Trapik Tralala” will resonate with millennials, young office workers, and the new generation of music lovers whose professional and romantic lives are often jeopardized by the metro’s worsening traffic problem.

Trapik Tralala is a song so close to home that nearly everyone can relate to it. After all, it shows that
love can be tricky - when traffic gets in the way. The band had a great time recording it, and the fact
that it is an original APO composition shows how 1:43 is totally committed to promote OPM,” Cahilig relates.

He further points out that despite the horror stories involving traffic, “Trapik Tralala shows that there are ways to turn things around and making music is one of them.”

The revitalized 1:43 features four talented and charismatic young men in the persons of Art Artienda, Ced Miranda, Jason Allen Estroso, and Wayne Avellano. The band bagged the 2013 Star Awards for Music Song of the Year for the monster hit “Sa Isang Sulyap Mo” and scored the “Most Promising Performing and Recording Group” recognition in the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation’s 45th Box-Office Entertainment Awards.

Aside from the monster hit “Sa Isang Sulyap Mo,” 1:43 also popularized the songs “Hayop Sa Ganda,”

“Pag-Ibig na Kaya,” and “Ang Saya-Saya,” which became the official theme song of the GMA-7 sitcom “Ismol Family.”

1:43 is co-managed by Cahilig and Mario Colmenares of Primetime Events and Talent Management.

For booking inquiries, interested parties may send a message at chriscahilig@gmail.com or primetimetalents@gmail.com, or through the 1:43 Facebook page.
