Ogie Alcasid Reveals Reasons Why He Transferred Back to ABS-CBN Instead of GMA-7

Singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid revealed he signed a contract with ABS-CBN during the grand press conference for Your Face Sounds Familiar: Kids's edition where he was introduced as one of the judges.

"Yes. The possibilities are boundless and no boundaries," Ogie light-heartedly said, adding that the contract, which allows him to do teleseryes and movies, is multi-platform.
Talking about his deciding factors as to why he transferred networks, the veteran musician, considering his music career first and foremost, admitted that he got attracted by the network's platform for music.
"Dito ko nakita 'yung platform nila for music was what really attracted me most... Siguro alam niyo naman na most of the theme songs I've written are all with ABS-CBN, Star Cinema and 'yung kanilang mga teleseryes. So, nagkaroon ako ng relationship actually with ABS-CBN because of that even though I was with GMA or with TV5. I was still writing for ABS-CBN. And it came from them, they approached me to write," Ogie said, sharing that he also produced an album for Kapamilya star Piolo Pascual that became triple platinum.

"My connection with ABS-CBN, from then on, has been with music. And as you remember, if you saw it in ASAP, they gave me a wonderful tribute which really, I'm so thankful. So nakita ko. It really made sense to me that I can keep creating music with the music platforms that ABS-CBN has. I'm not saying that the others don't have one but theirs really made sense to me because of that relationship. It's been going on for many years," he added.
Ogie also talked about the network's acting projects for him given that he is also an actor and a comedian. "They have those programs na bagay ako," he said, although not disclosing the specific shows. However, should there be an offer to join the Sunday gag show "Banana Sundae," Ogie admitted he would need to think about it first as he respects his friends from Bubble Gang, the rival network's gag show which he was a part of.
"Pag-iisipan ko ng mabuti 'yan. But... 'Pag dating sa comedy, I'm more inclined to doing probably a sitcom or movies with Star Cinema... Of course (it's the friendship with his former co-stars, particularly Michael V. that makes him think twice). Malalim 'yun, eh. But I'm sure he'll always understand," he said.
Moreover, Ogie said that he wants to do movies again. "I haven't done a movie in three years yata," admitting that he is set to do a movie with Star Cinema.

Now that he is a part of the network, Ogie said that he would like to work with the Kapamilya singers, Judy Ann Santos, and Vice Ganda if given the chance.
Currently, Ogie is the newest judge of "It's Showtime's" Tawag ng Tanghalan.

ABS-CBN opens the year 2017 with the premiere of the much awaited family drama, “A Love to Last,” on Primetime Bida.

Topbilled by box office actress Bea Alonzo and sought after leading man Ian Veneracion, “A Love to Last” is a timely story about family and how love isn’t always what it seems to be.

Andeng Agoncillo (Bea Alonzo), a bread-winner and a successful events organizer, has always believed in love. For her, love is being with the man she loves and having a happy family with him.

Unfortunately, her ideal fairy tale love story didn’t have its happy ending after she caught her fiancĂ© cheating on her days before their wedding. But despite this, Andeng remains hopeful that love will still come her way.

Anton Noble IV (Ian Veneracion), meanwhile, thought he already found love. After many years of marriage, his wife Grace (Iza Calzado) decided to leave him and demanded for an annulment. He’s then left with their three children and became a single father, on top of his job as a president and CEO of his company.

Fate then brings them together in the most unexpected time and place. Never have Andeng imagined that she will find love in an older man - a much older man.  As she takes this risk, she also finds herself caught in the middle of Anton’s complicated life - dealing with the ex-wife and seeking acceptance from his kids.

How far will Andeng go to fight for the family she wished for and to fight for her place in Anton’s life?

Rodrigo Duterte Ranked 70th Most Powerful People in the World

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has been ranked 70th among the 74 most powerful people listed by Forbes magazine.

"Duterte's tendency to say what he thinks, no matter how raw, also keeps him in the headlines," said Forbes.

"The former mayor of Davao City was elected president of the Philippine sin May 2016 on the strength of a campaign that promised the swift execution of drug users and other criminals, and his war on crime has already resulted in the killing of thousands of people," it added.

Forbes' annual list of Most Powerful People has been topped by Russian President Vladimir Putin for four consecutive years, while United States President-elect Donald Trump is in the second spot.

In a statement, Communications Secretary Martin Andanar acknowledged Duterte's inclusion in the Forbes' annual list, saying the President will continue to do his duty to serve the Filipino people.

"Much has been done in the first six months and much more will be done in the succeeding years. After all, the President's heart is in the right place, and he has only the interests of the Filipino people and the nation in his mind first and foremost," Andanar said.

Andanar stressed that as president, Duterte has used his powers "with utmost responsibility to promote the well-being of the people."

"As the President walked the extra mile for peace, the chief executive made the country's economic growth the fastest among emerging Asian economies and lowered unemployment to its lowest level in more than a decade," the President's communication chief said.

"The President launched an unprecedented anti-drug war that saw the surrender of more than 800,000 drug addicts and charted a new course in international relations with his pursuit of an independent foreign policy, which means moving strongly and swiftly towards regional economic rebalancing for closer integration in Asia," he added.

3 Weeks Before YE2016, NTC Already Breached its Target Collection by P34.5M

With three weeks left in 2016 to collect Administrative Fees, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), an agency under the Department of Information and Communications Technology, has already breached its P 4.835B target for 2016 as its collections have amounted to P 4.870B to-date.  The P 4.835B target was set by the Development Budget Coordination Committee (DBCC) composed of the Department of Budget Management (DBM), the Department of Finance (DOF) and the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA).

The achievement came from the NTC’s concerted efforts to strictly enforce stakeholders’ compliance in remitting administrative, spectrum and penalty fees.  Stakeholders regulated by the NTC include cable and commercial television operators, broadcast radio stations, telecommunications companies and 2-way radio operators.

With still three weeks to go, NTC Commissioner Gamaliel A. Cordoba said that “the NTC management is rallying its entire workforce to try to reach the P 5B mark before the year ends.”  He added that, “this last ditch effort is NTC’s humble way of contributing to various national government public service programs pushed by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte - priorities of which are on infrastructure, agriculture and rural development, as well as peace and order.”

ANC Celebrates 50 Years of “The World Tonight,” Launches the ANC Leadership Awards

ANC, the ABS-CBN News Channel, celebrated the 50th year of its flagship newscast “The World Tonight” (TWT) and launched the ANC Leadership Awards last December 7 to cap its 20th anniversary celebration this year.

The country’s first 24/7 cable news channel marked these two milestones at the 2nd ANC X event held at 8 Rockwell Center, Rockwell Drive, Makati City, that was attended by members of the business community led by ABS-CBN chairman Eugenio Lopez III and ABS-CBN president and chief executive officer Carlo Katigbak.

The longest-running television news program in the Philippines, “TWT” is regarded as the gold standard in local newscasts, having covered the most important events in our nation’s history and having served as a home to some of the most iconic and respected Filipino journalists including Tina Monzon-Palma, Sen. Loren Legarda, former Sen. Orly Mercado, Dyan Castillejo, Ces Orena-Drilon, and the late Angelo Castro, Jr.

ABS-CBN Integrated News & Current Affairs head Ging Reyes, who served as executive producer of “TWT” after Martial Law, led the tribute to “TWT,” which will be featured in a documentary on ANC soon.

Noting how the media landscape has changed in half a century, Reyes said the ABS-CBN news organization has remained solid and constant in terms of strength, dedication, resilience, and adherence to its journalistic canons, which is evident in “TWT,” now anchored by the likes of Tony Velasquez, Teddy Locsin, Jr., TJ Manotoc, Cathy Yang, and Tina Monzon-Palma.

’The World Tonight’ and ANC are one in keeping the Filipino audience informed and enlightened through all these years; two institutions that keep pushing for public enlightenment – the very foundation of any democracy. May these two strong institutions outlive us all,” she said.

After commemorating this huge milestone in Philippine news, the night’s emcee, “Headstart” anchor Karen Davila, showed a teaser of the new ANC Station ID and announced the launch of the ANC Leadership Awards (ANCLA).

The ANCLA aims to honor visionary leaders who can be emulated by the next generation and will also shine the spotlight on up and coming leaders 45 years and below, who have the ability to make contributions in the realms of business and public service. Awardees must display a pioneering entrepreneurial spirit, and values like business excellence, unity, nationalism, and integrity, all of which ANC also stands for.

“ANC X” is an ANC event in partnership with Metro Society magazine that provides a venue for the nation’s decision-makers and movers and shakers to gather, establish connections, exchange ideas, and discuss the important issues in the country and in the world.
