Forgetting and being forgotten are two very difficult situations to be in.

And in Someone to Watch Over Me, the latest drama series airing this August on GMA Pinoy TV, we get to see both sides as Kapuso hunk Tom Rodriguez tackles the role of TJ Chavez, a man who has Alzheimer’s disease, while Kapuso Premier Actress Lovi Poe takes on the role of his wife Joanna Mercado.

You know, just a few months before this, I had no idea. Like, ganito pala kabilis, ka-rapid yung disease na [Like, the disease develops very fast, rapidly that] you will be able to see the deterioration right away. For me, I even started doing mind exercises kasi [because] I’m an over-thinker and my hobby is to stimulate my brain. Kasi [Because] I love reading, I love studying, I love taking courses, I love doing many techniques. Kaya [Which is why] to prepare for a role that’s as heavy as this, it must be a superb one,” said the actor.

Lovi, meanwhile, is preparing herself for the very challenging role of a woman who has to deal with the loss of her husband’s memory of their relationship. “Actually, ini-imbibe ko na yung pain na nararamdaman ni Joanna para pagdating sa set, ready na ako. Pero sobra akong nagpapasalamat palagi kasi sa lahat naman ng binibigay nila sa akin na projects, masaya ako dun. And with the thought na they’re trusting me with this, I want to make sure that I give my best kasi hindi biro yung mga roles na binibigay nila sa akin [Actually, I’ve started to imbibe the pain Joanna feels so that I’ll be ready when I come on to the set. But I’m always extremely grateful because I’m really happy with all the projects I’m being given. And with the thought that they’re trusting me with this, I want to make sure that I give my best because these are very serious roles],” says the award-winning actress.

Join Tom and Lovi as they explore the complexities of TJ and Joanna’s relationship in the intriguing GMA drama series Someone to Watch Over Me, coming soon on GMA Pinoy TV this August.

Ogie Alcasid In Talks for Possible Transfer to ABS-CBN this Month

After appearing twice on ASAP this year and joining some Kapamilya award-winnig musicians in MMK 25th anniversary commemorative album called "MMK Life Songs," his possible transfer to Kapamilya station after his TV5 contract expires this month is on the bag, reports said.

When asked during the press conference for his upcoming birthday concert “Ayokong Tumanda” at Music Museum, Ogie said, “The truth is my contract [with TV5] is expiring August 18. Thankful ako sa network ko at hindi nila ako nire-restrict. Let’s face it, wala naman kaming show ngayon. Wala kaming ibang content kung saan ako pwede lumabas so naiintindihan naman nila ‘yon.”

He further said, “I still have to talk to my manager kung saan ba pupunta? Ang focus ko ngayon tapusin muna ang concert tapos saka na lang mag-isip one-by-one, kasi nagpatong-patong. Anything is possible. Pero ang feeling ko sa three years being with TV5 we weren’t able to accomplish what we were supposed to accomplish. So kung iiwan ko lang ‘yun na ganoon there’s big part of me na sige baka kaya pa naman. However, kung hindi na kaya, kung wala na, then it’s time to move on. I don’t want to base my position on anything else but where am I needed most at this point,”

ABS-CBN Net Income for 1H2016 Jumps to P2.1 Billion or 76% versus Same Period in 2015

ABS-CBN Corporation, the country’s leading media and entertainment company, reported PHP 20.9 billion consolidated revenue for the first half of 2016, bringing its net income to PHP 2.1 billion, 76% higher compared to the same period last year.  The company reported higher second quarter revenues of PHP 11.2 billion, 20% higher than the revenues generated during the first quarter of this year.
The improvement in our ratings, coupled with the newly implemented cost per individual rating point pricing scheme, contributed to the increase in our advertising revenues,” said Aldrin Cerrado, ABS-CBN’s chief financial officer.
ABS-CBN continues to be the market leader in terms of total day national audience share and ratings for the first half of 2016.  The top 15 programs for the first half of 2016 were all ABS-CBN shows with “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” at the top spot.
Consistent with the company’s push towards growing its broadband business, Sky’s broadband subscriber growth has been very strong, increasing by 47% to over 169,000 since June last year.  Sky has also introduced direct-to-home service nationwide, Sky Direct, with over 33,000 subscribers as of end of the first half.
The company’s Digital Terrestrial Television or DTT has already touched millions of household viewers, with over 1.3 million boxes sold as of the end of June.  TV Plus launched the Kapamilya Box Office that will transform the Filipino family’s TV viewing into meaningful experiences by providing them value-added services and upgraded features that go beyond television.
We are confident that we will hit our profit guidance for the year,” said ABS-CBN Group CFO Ron Valdueza.
ABS-CBN is home to the nation’s top-rating TV programs, box-office films, and best-selling books and music. With the ability to harness the latest in technology and innovation, the company is rapidly transitioning into an agile digital company with the biggest online presence among all media companies, and a growing list of digital properties. ABS-CBN was also first in the country to offer content online and on mobile, and even pioneered digital television in the nation.
We recognize that the industry we are operating in is changing rapidly and we continue to make significant investments towards digital transformation and innovation,” added Valdueza.
Meanwhile, the company’s educational theme park, KidZania, with more than 65 open establishments, reached over 150,000 attendance since the beginning of the year.  The  O Shopping Channel is now generating over PHP2.2 million in daily sales.
With these successes, ABS-CBN’s total assets rose to PHP 72.5 billion or 3% increase from last year’s PHP 70.4 billion.  Equity base rose to PHP 29.9 billion from PHP 28.7 billion in 2015.

GMA Network's Net Income Jumps 116% for First Half of 2016

GMA Network’s financial performance continued to trend upward as it reported a net income of P2.378 billion for the first half of 2016, achieving a 116 percent increase versus last year’s P1.099 billion. Consolidated revenues for the six-month period jumped 32 percent to P8.760 billion on the back of election-related earnings together with the sustained growth in recurring advertisements.

Combined airtime sales reached a record P8.065 billion, equivalent to a 33 percent or P1.996 billion increase over last year. Discounting the impact of political ads, airtime revenues still grew by 10 percent. “It definitely exceeded our expectations for the year,” said GMA Chairman and CEO lawyer Felipe L. Gozon of the company’s strong financial performance. “In fact, our net income for the first semester of 2016 is already higher than our bottomline for 2015 by at least P250 million. We are hoping that this momentum will continue well into the remaining quarters,” he added.

Operating expenses posted a single-digit growth of only 7 percent to P5.384 billion, as total production cost and general and administrative expenses (GAEX) rose by 6 and 7 percent, respectively. GMA ended mid-year with earnings before interests, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) of P4.177 billion, up by 73 percent from the same period last year.

On television, GMA maintained its ratings dominance in Urban Luzon and Mega Manila based on Nielsen TV Audience Measurement data covering the second quarter of the year.

In Urban Luzon, GMA registered a 39.6 percent household audience share, higher than ABS-CBN’s 31.4 percent. Meanwhile, in Mega Manila, GMA posted an audience share of 41.8 percent, ahead of ABS-CBN’s 28.1 percent.

The Network likewise solidified its position as the preferred source of news and information during events of national significance as it captured majority of the viewers in National Urban Philippines for both the 2016 national elections and the Presidential and Vice Presidential inauguration coverage.
GMA News and Public Affairs’ Eleksyon 2016 special coverage last May 9 recorded an average household share of 36.3 percent in NUTAM (National Urban Television Audience Measurement), besting the 34.4 percent of ABS-CBN’s Halalan 2016. Meanwhile, GMA’s special coverage of the inauguration of President Rodrigo Duterte and Vice President Leni Robredo, Panata Sa Pagbabago, last June 30 registered a household share of 38.8 percent in NUTAM, ahead of ABS-CBN’s 33.6 percent as per Nielsen data.

Business Developments Across broadcast platforms, flagship GMA Channel 7’s revenues improved by 34 percent and comprised the lion’s share of the total airtime revenue pie. Leading free-to-air local news channel GMA News TV also exceeded its performance last year with a 10 percent increase in revenues.

The Network’s radio operations likewise registered a double-digit growth of 41 percent, as well as Regional TV, which manages GMA’s broadcast operations in the different regions, with sales 16 percent higher than last year. Revenues from international operations also climbed 16 percent, driven by the increase in subscriber numbers of the Network’s international channels GMA Pinoy TV, GMA Life TV, and GMA News TV International at 9 percent, 24 percent, and 71 percent, respectively.

The growth was spurred by the comeback tie-up with carrier OSN in the Middle East; the launch of GMA channels on StarHub, one of the major payTV operators in Singapore; and LycaTV in Europe. The channels are made available on cable, DTH (direct-to-home), IPTV (internet protocol television) and OTT (over-the-top)/mobile platforms through GMA’s payTV and telco partners worldwide.

Meanwhile, subsidiaries operations posted a combined revenue growth of 32 percent led by GMA New Media, Inc. (NMI), the Network’s forerunner in technology. NMI capped off the first half of 2016 with a 36 percent increase in online advertising sales due mainly to the steady increase in sales from programmatic partners. Substantial revenues from OTT platforms also account for the growth in NMI’s sales.

According to Effective Measure, the Network portal www.gmanetwork.com ranked as the number one website in the country in terms of pageviews from January to July 2016 with 1.1 billion pageviews versus the 882.9 million of the rival network’s portal.

Furthermore, GMA News Online (www.gmanews.tv) remained the Filipinos’ preferred news source online as it recorded 109.8 million pageviews during the election period from May 9 to 11 – the highest number of pageviews among local online publications for three consecutive days and a feat that has never been accomplished by a local site to date.

GMA Records also delivered revenue improvements boosted by the strong sales of Alden Richards’ first album that has already reached 7-time platinum status, among other successful releases. The Network’s content syndication arm, GMA Worldwide, Inc. (GWI), further expanded its market with new content partnerships in the ASEAN region and beyond.

Notably, GWI sold the format rights of a number of Kapuso programs to production companies in Mexico, marking a first in the Philippine broadcast industry. In addition, GWI also syndicated several hours of dramas to a major broadcast company in Canada. Revenues aside, GMA continued to reap awards in the local and international fronts including the prestigious New York Festivals and the US International Film and Video Festival, in recognition of the Network’s unwavering commitment to bringing superior news and entertainment to Filipinos here and abroad.

KOJIESAN Celebrates UnbeaTEN Years of Bringing Beauty to Light to Millions of Filipinas

Beauty Elements Venture’s Inc. (BEVI), the manufacturer of the country’s favorite skin-lightening product, Kojiesan, is celebrating 10 fruitful years of bringing a lighter, flawless and more beautiful complexion to Filipinos.

BEVI’s success story is a testament to the undaunted determination of its owner. From a few dozen orders to millions of bars sold, the soap steadily became a favorite among Filipinos. The innovative product reached consumers across the country, and soon after, distribution went worldwide as an export commodity.

BEVI started in a humble office in a residential area of Makati. Now, the company operates from an entire building. It also owns 6 hectares of manufacturing facilities in San Pablo, Laguna, providing employment to more than 500 employees.

BEVI launched the original kojic acid soap formulated the traditional Japanese way and made it even better by adding high-grade virgin coconut oil into the mix.

Kojiesan is an exceptional treatment to even out skin tone, erase dark spots, and other forms of skin pigmentations. It also corrects skin discoloration while lightening the skin. The Kojiesan Classic Line includes:

Skin Lightening Soap
Cleanser+Toner
Face Lightening Cream
Body Lightening Lotion

With the success of the Classic Line, Kojiesan was able to extend its product lines to other categories such as:

Anti-aging
Acne treatment
Men's Skincare
Cellulite control
Sunblock
Fragrances

Results vary individually. How your skin reacts to any skin lightener will depend on your unique skin sensitivity, the extent of the pigmentation, and/or daily sun exposure. Initially, an improvement should be seen in the first or second week, then the ultimate result within the next 30 days or a few weeks thereafter.

Kojiesan’s commitment to quality is reflected in the recognition it garnered for five consecutive years as “Bath Soap Brand of the Year” at the Watson's Health and Beauty Awards and Consumer “SM Top Choice” Awards.

With more tricks than truth behind what brands say, Kojiesan enjoins us to be careful with what we buy. Some labels brandish catchy, creative terms - triple effect this, intensive that, pinkish white whatever, and touting invented numbers - 4 tones fairer, 7 days faster - with zero consideration for your natural skin’s reaction to adverse products.

And for all the claims and white lies told, the question remains: have they shown us results? It’s time we see the light. No lab-made chemical complexes, no marketing-invented promises. Just you and your natural beauty, shining at its lightest.

The proof is in the pigment, and seeing is believing. So don’t let those brands tell you what works for you. Join the millions who’ve witnessed visible results, because it’s time to BRING YOUR SKIN TO LIGHT with the country’s No. 1 kojic soap: KOJIESAN! SEE IT YOURSELF.

We will continue to innovate products and expand our distribution to bring the highest level of consumer experience to a greater number of people. We want to be known as the company who delivers quality and effective products,” says BEVI marketing head, Tricia Gregorio.
