Jennylyn Mercado Set to Officially Transfer to ABS-CBN?

After her commendable performance in Star Cinema certified box-office hit romantic-comedy flick "Just The 3 Of Us" opposite Kapamilya actor John Lloyd Cruz, homegrown Kapuso actress Jennylyn Mercado is rumored to be making the "big switch" especially now that her contract with GMA Network has already expired last May.

The speculations surfaced after some reports state that she is set to star in another project under the ABS-CBN film

On the other hand, her manager Becky Aguila says that GMA-7 is still their priority. In fact, rumors have it that a possible team-up with Alden Richards for the remake of hit Korean fantasy rom-com series "My Love From Star" is now in the works.

Sarah Geronimo Pregnant

"Siyempre, hindi ko maku-control 'yon. Pero sa tingin ko, hindi pa siya mag-aasawa. Magtu-twenty-eight pa lang siya. Baka hindi pa siya ready," Vic del Rosario, Viva Entertainment's big boss, said when asked for statement about Sarah Geronimo's rumored pregnancy during Miss Manila 2016 press presentation at Diamond Hotel on Thursday, June 16.

The news saying Sarah is in expectant stage surfaced when she announced that she will leave the county soon to study abroad.

However, Boss Vic vehemently denied the rumor saying, "Hindi buntis si Sarah! Paano mabubuntis 'yon, eh, virgin pa 'yon! Immaculate? Hindi, di ba? Paano mabubuntis ang virgin? Maniwala kayo!"

Proving marriage is not his talent's priority, he gave hint on what fans can expect from Sarah in the coming months.

"May regular siyang show, ASAP. Gagawa siya ng concert. Pinag-aaralan niya 'yung show na offer ng Channel 2, meron. Bagong reality show. Host siya. May hinahandang pelikula." he mentioned.

TFC to Air the Worldwide Premiere of Elmo Magalona and Janella Salvador's 'Born For You' via Live Simulcast

In the tradition of keeping Filipinos connected to the Philippines by bringing homegrown content to wherever they are in the world and enabling them to enjoy the stories with their families at home, The Filipino Channel (TFC) is unveiling the worldwide, live simulcast of the newest love story that will prove that destiny exists, “Born for You,” top billed by the newest love team of Janella Salvador and Elmo Magalona (ElNella).  ABS-CBN and Dreamscape Television Entertainment’s newest teleserye is set to premiere Monday (June 20) on The Filipino Channel (TFC) worldwide.

Aside from being TFC’s first program to premiere via live simulcast, “Born for You,” the teleserye will also endear to overseas Filipinos as it was partly shot in Japan, featuring some scenic spots such as the world-famous Mount Fuji and Shibuya Crossing.

The teleserye also marks firsts for the lead stars.  It is Salvador’s first romantic-themed series and Magalona’s first-ever teleserye in the Kapamilya network. These firsts in their careers make the two lead stars excited and thankful for their upcoming show.

I am very happy to be with ABS-CBN and very blessed to have what I have right now. But I am also nervous about what people are going to expect. Still, I believe in what I and Salvador can offer,” said Magalona.

There is little pressure but more excitement. When I was reading the script, I could already imagine how good the show is,” Salvador added.

Aside from the kilig moments, viewers are also in for a huge music treat as the pair will not only showcase their acting skills, but also their musicality through performances that will surely delight fans.

Music is so close to my heart and when I learned that my character Kevin is really passionate about music, I loved him instantly,” said the Kapamilya actor.

This soap gave me the opportunity to play instruments, something that people have not seen before,” said Salvador, who plays the ukulele in the series.

And even before its premiere, the show already received praises from viewers with its quality and promising story. The netizens are also abuzz with the kilig brought by the teleserye as the series is a consistent trending topic on social media.

The story of “Born for You” revolves around Sam (Salvador and Kevin (Magalona) two people destined for each other as proven by the concept of red string of fate, which says that an invisible string connects two destined people and are set to meet each other wherever they are in the world.

Their love for music will bring Sam and Kevin together, but it might also be the reason for their budding romance to be cut off.

What fate awaits for Sam and Kevin? How will their parents’ past affect their destiny? Will the string that connects them be broken?

Joining the stellar cast of “Born for You” are Ariel Rivera, Vina Morales, Ayen Laurel, Bernard Palanca, Gina Pareño, Freddie Webb, Jimboy Martin, Joj Agpangan, Francis Magundayao, Smokey Manaloto, Ogie Diaz, Katya Santos, DJ Durano, Alfred Labatos, Kyline Alcantara, Paulo O’hara, Neil Coleta, and Young JV. 'The Conjuring 2' Scares Off Competition Worldwide, Grosses P106-M in the Philippines

One of the most anticipated movies of the summer, James Wan’s sequel to 2013’s record-breaking supernatural thriller summoned up $90.350 million at the worldwide box office, making “The Conjuring 2” #1 in its opening weekend in North America and expecting to be #1 internationally, outside of China. The announcement was made June 12 by Veronika Kwan Vandenberg, President, Worldwide Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures.

Coming off of a strong Thursday night total of $3.4 million domestically, the film took in $40.350 million in North America, marking the largest domestic horror opening since 2013’s “The Conjuring,” which went on to gross $319 million in theaters worldwide. Internationally, the film took in a sensational $50 million, doubling “The Conjuring” in the same opening markets. These early successes, along with an A- Cinema Score and a Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, indicate the “The Conjuring 2” is poised to scare up excellent numbers as it expands into additional territories in the coming weeks.

In the Philippines, the Patrick Wilson-Vera Farmiga starrer spooked the box-office with a P106-M in six days, and still counting.

In making the announcement, Kwan Vandenberg stated, “Once again, James Wan has proven himself a true master of the scare, building an onscreen world that not only frightens his fans in the best way possible, but remains with them when they leave the theater. We anticipate strong word-of-mouth will carry the film through the summer corridor.

New Line Cinema’s supernatural thriller “The Conjuring 2,” with James Wan once again at the helm following the record-breaking success of “The Conjuring,” brings to the screen another real case from the files of renowned demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren.

Reprising their roles, Oscar nominee Vera Farmiga (“Up In the Air”) and Patrick Wilson, star as Lorraine and Ed Warren, who, in one of their most terrifying paranormal investigations, travel to north London to help a single mother raising four children alone in a house plagued by malicious spirits.

The film follows the phenomenal worldwide reception of Wan’s “The Conjuring,” which marked the largest opening ever for an original horror movie. It went on to make more than $319 million worldwide and still remains the second highest grossing original horror movie of all time, second only to “The Exorcist.”

“The Conjuring 2” is a New Line Cinema presentation and is distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

From 'The Hunger Games,' Sam Claflin Now Plays Man Dying to Live to the Fullest in 'Me Before You'

Last year saw him star as Finnick Odair for the last time in “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2.” Now, British heartthrob Sam Claflin stars as Will Traynor, the complicated, wheelchair-bound patient of Emilia Clarke's Louisa, in New Line Cinema’s deeply moving romance, “Me Before You.”

Claflin shares what attracted him to the project: “The writing itself was so beautifully done, and the subject matter surrounding this very challenging character was handled so well, it really got me thinking. That was a big draw for me.”

At one time, Will’s world was all-encompassing; he lived a “no limits” lifestyle. Now, two years on, we find him utterly confined. Betrayed by his own body due to a spinal cord injury, he resides—even he would not say he lives by any definition of the word—at his parents’ countryside home. Lou, on the other hand, has rarely stepped outside this little town, and even stepping into the grand Traynor estate—the “castle,” as it’s called by the locals—is foreign to her. Yet they meet, whether by chance or by fate.

Though Will has all but given up, Lou becomes determined to show him that life is worth living. But the former “master of the universe,” as author and screenwriter Jojo Moyes describes him, will be a tough nut to crack, even for the ever optimistic Lou. The writer explains, “They get off to a rocky start. Will was the kind of guy who liked to throw himself out of airplanes and climb mountains, determined to suck the marrow out of life. But thanks to one really random accident, he now has to be cared for by other people, and he’s decided he just doesn’t want to carry on like this, given what he’s lost.”

Claflin confesses that the physical challenges Will faces were a large part of what made him want to play the character. “I initially had very little understanding of the world Will lives in or the story we’d be telling,” he says. “But this particular character’s journey delves deep into that experience. It opened my eyes.”

To portray Will, the actor would only be permitted movement from the neck up and in one finger and thumb—the result of two years of intense physical therapy. “He’s had the best care, the best medical advice and the best help possible,” he continues. “He doesn’t want help anymore. He’s made up his mind.
Until, perhaps, he gets to know Lou.

She’s the first person who speaks her mind to him,” Claflin says. “She’s willing to be his sparring partner, and I think he appreciates her honesty and admires it. She changes him. She sort of opens his eyes and allows him to see the world in a new way, and he, equally, opens her eyes to the world and to what life has to offer outside the little village she lives in. He wants her to spread her wings and fly far.”

Director Thea Sharrock admired Claflin’s ability to play the many facets of the character. “Will can be an ass, he can be unkind—no two ways about it,” she laughs. “I wanted somebody who had innate warmth, charisma and incredible kindness within him in order for Will’s transformation to feel genuine, and Sam accomplished that with ease.

Part of Claflin’s transformation to Will included losing weight—a total, he says, of “over three stone” (more than 40 lbs)—because the character’s immobility over two years would have naturally induced muscle loss. But though Will is unable to move his body, his mind is as sharp as ever.

I had to really become in tune with Will’s brainpower because that is still functioning as well as ever; he’s very bright, very clever. Underneath that, he’s also a sensitive soul—though it might not seem that way at first,” Claflin adds.

As with any film romance, one of the most critical elements was the chemistry between the romantic leads. “Once we had whittled our candidates down in the casting process, we brought the finalists in to read together,” the director says. “That was the decider. As soon as Sam and Emilia met, the casting director and I looked at each other and knew we’d found the right pair.”

Emilia and I have nearly worked together a few times, but it never worked out for some reason, scheduling, whatever,” Claflin says. “This seemed to be the perfect timing and the perfect project, and she’s quite literally the perfect co-star.

Sam is an absolute dreamboat,” Clarke concludes. “It was brilliant playing opposite him. He’s the easiest person to work with, he gives so much, and it was just wonderful.”

Set for release across the Philippines on June 15, “Me Before You” is distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment company.

The film's Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is now available to download/stream via digital stores. Get the CD for only Php 459.00 at Astroplus/Astrovision stores starting June 10.

Kim Chiu and Xian Lim to Filipinos in Saipan via 'TSOUristas Global Trip'

“The Story Of Us” stars Kim Chiu and Xian Lim roused the laidback island of Saipan, as they kicked off their “TSOURISTAS Global Trip” at the Royal Taga Convention Center World Resort in May.

Through The Filipino Channel (TFC) and partner Philippine Airlines, the arrival of one of the most popular love teams on Philippine television came as good news for Filipinos in the capital of the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), home to about 18,000 Filipinos (according to the Philippine Consulate General in CNMI).

As the dry season in the island also comes to a close, TFC excited kababayans in the island and continued to provide warmth to the thousands of Pinoys with a taste of Filipino entertainment they only previously saw on TFC and

Kim, a multi-talented performer, sang her famous hit “Mr. Right” and invited male members of the audience to apply as Kim’s “The One” during the event.  Winner Johnny Bohman was ecstatic as the teen superstar chose her over hundreds in the audience.

Xian, teasingly challenged Bohman to let the best man win, much to the amusement of the audience.

When it was Xian’s time to perform, he showed how one can have both talent and good looks at the same time.  He sang “Harana” and Jireh’s viral hit “Buko,” which was also part of one of their movie’s soundtrack.

The day would not be over without a duet from the love team.  The crowd swooned as the rumored couple sang “When You Say Nothing At All” by Lee Ann Rimes and revealed they will continue to travel the world as part of the “Tsouristas Global Trip.”

Kim, dubbed the Philippines’ Chinita Princess, may have travelled the world but for her, the experience in Saipan is one of the most memorable.

Kim said: “We’re very happy sobra kasi parang it feels like we’re still in the Philippines parang hindi kami lumalayo sa Pilipinas kasi andaming Pilipino, andaming nagha-hi samin. They’re very warm and lahat ng tao talaga tinatawag kaming Macoy at Tin so parang nakakatuwa.”

Xian could only agree.  “Lim observed, “Walang katumbas iyong aura na binibigay talaga ng mga tao dito dahil napakabait, napaka-happy lahat, parang walang problema.  Ang saya-saya dito and hopefully, when we get back, sana makita po namin ulit kayo.”

The “Tsouristas Global Trip” trended at no. six during the week of the event with over 20,000 tweets using the hash tag #KimXianSaipan.

ABS-CBN Managing Director for Asia Pacific Ailene Averion said that the Filipinos’ attendance, the trending on social media and the feedback the team received were proof of how receptive Filipinos are of ABS-CBN content, stars and engagements.  “Saipan may be one of the most compact regions we serve, but what it does not have in terms of geographical size was made up for the bigness of the people’s hearts.  I am not just talking about the Filipinos but also the locals who also watch our content,” she adds.

She ends, “It gladdens me to know that our stories resonate with them, proof that wherever we go, there will always be our Kapamilyas just waiting for us.”

Guests who were met by TFC with the trademark Kapamilya treatment were Honorary Consul of the Philippines to the CNMI Eli Arago.  Performers include Revive Band who sang “Love On Top” by Beyonce and “It’s Too Late” by Carol King; the Saipan Music Dance Studio who moved the attendees to their feet; and viral sensation, Bernice Shane Sabino who sang Sia’s “Flashlight” a take-off from her Smule video with Jessie J which has earned over 12 million views since posting.

“Tsouristas Global Trip” in Saipan was made possible by Philippine Airlines’ launch of the maiden flight to Saipan on June 15.  PAL gave away two round-trip tickets (Saipan-Philippines-Saipan) where Filipinas Shirley Kim and Aira Joy Velasco won.

Catch the next destination of the “Tsouristas Global Trip” leg via TFC’s Facebook pages worldwide.  For more updates via

All my life I was dreaming
All my life I was searching
All my life I was seeking
For someone I can truly call my own

Then you arrived all of a sudden
Without a warning it was you that I saw
Without a warning it was you who came
You came right when I did not know what to say

It would be nice to have you in my life
Would there be a chance for you to give it a try
It would be the best day of our lives
Imagine you and me together eternally

You could have been lost
But here you are saved
Don't you ever go astray
What I would give to make you feel okay
I would gladly give it all away

And I hope you see that I would love to love you
Imagine you and me

I have waited my whole life just to meet you
And now that you are here I don't think I could lose you
This could be the best days of our lives
Imagine you and me together eternally

JBK’s Joshua Bulot is Aicelle Santos' New Love Interest in 'Rak of Aegis'

It never occurred to boy band singer Joshua Bulot, who’s best known as a member of vocal trio JBK, that he would one day perform on a theatre stage, much less in the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA)’s hit comedy musical ‘Rak of Aegis’. On its fifth comeback, the highly acclaimed production is poised to introduce fresh new talents, which include JBK’s Joshua who snagged the role of Aileen’s lover boy, ‘Tolits’.

I still can’t believe that I am playing ‘Tolits’ in the wildly popular musical because this is going to be vastly different from my performances as a member of a boy band,” the 23-year-old vocalist says. “I’m taking this as a huge opportunity to show that I can be a versatile artist. I’m ready to prove that I can do it.

While Joshua notes that it is a big leap from singing before hordes of screaming fan girls to performing before the theatre crowd, he admits that the bigger challenge is being on the same stage as the original ‘Rak’ cast members - like the golden couple Robert and Isay Seña.

This should push me to really show my vocal power,” Joshua says.

While the show didn’t go through a major story overhaul, fans of ‘Rak of Aegis’ can look forward to a fun and unique show because of the new actors’ fresh take on the well-loved characters of the musical.

Both veterans of, and up-and-coming actors in, the theatre scene will complete the cast. These include comedian Jon Santos, GMA 7’s Aicelle Santos, Kim Molina, Benj Manalo, Pepe Herrera, OJ Mariano, Jerald Napoles, Renz Verano, Loy Martinez, Jimi Marquez, Phi Palmos, Ron Alfonso, Carlon Matobato, Gio Gahol, John Moran, Paeng Sudayan, Roi Calilong, Gimbey Dela Cruz, Abi Sulit, Via Antonio, Gold Villar, Teetin Villanueva, Raflesia Bravo, Jet Barrun, and Gab Pangilinan.

As for the new direction in Joshua’s career, it couldn’t happen to a nicer - and better qualified - young artist. Together with his JBK brothers Bryan del Rosario and Kim Lawrenz Ordonio, Joshua, after all, has recorded hit singles like “Anong Meron Ka,” “Damang-Dama,” and “Letting You Go.”

On social media, JBK’s cover videos of OPM, Indonesian, and Malaysian songs went viral and earned the moniker #FireExitBoys because most of their videos were shot in the fire exit of a condominium, where they sometimes got into trouble with the building’s security.

I am so thankful to my JBK brothers for supporting me and pushing me to do better,” Joshua enthuses. “For people who’d like to see our shows or watch our covers, just ‘like’ our Facebook page.”

The fifth run of ‘Rak of Aegis’ is slated from June 17 to August 28, Tuesdays through Fridays at 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the PETA Theater Center.

Meanwhile, you can catch Joshua’s performances on the following initial play dates: July 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, and 27 all at 8 p.m.

ABS-CBN To Stop Operation in 2020? The Kapamilya Network Releases Official Statement

ABS-CBN, which franchise ends in 2020, has released a statement in response to an article published in Philippine Daily Inquirer (PDI) that the Kapamilya network's contract will not be extended as it failed to secure a franchise renewal bid on the 16th Congress. The statement reads:

"ABS-CBN Corporation’s franchise to operate and maintain television and radio broadcasting stations will expire in 2020.

ABS-CBN opted for an early renewal application in September 2014 and went through the normal legislative process. But due to time constraints, ABS-CBN later decided to withdraw the application with the intent of seeking renewal in the 17th Congress.

Claims that the franchise will not be extended are purely speculative.

For the franchise renewal, we believe that our government will uphold the ideals of democracy including the rights to freedom of speech and expression.

ABS-CBN is committed to be in public service by providing news and information that matter to the Filipino, as we have been doing for the past decades."

Ellen DeGeneres Lends Iconic Voice to Favorite Fish Dory in 'Finding Dory'

Dory is a bright blue tang with a sunny personality. She suffers from short-term memory loss, which normally doesn't upset her upbeat attitude - until she realizes she's forgotten something big: her family, in Disney-Pixar's "Finding Dory." Of course, she's found a new family in Marlin and Nemo, but she's haunted by the belief that someone out there is looking for her.

Ellen DeGeneres was called on to provide her iconic voice to the lauded character for Dory's return to the big screen - something DeGeneres often imagined on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." "I was campaigning for a sequel to 'Finding Nemo' for 13 years," says the comedian and talk show host, "but I never imagined it would be 'Finding Dory.' So that was the real surprise when I finally got the call."

DeGeneres' multiple-Emmy®-winning talk show launched just a few months after "Finding Nemo" opened in theaters, catapulting the comedian to new heights. So when it came time to revisit the character, filmmakers realized a lot had changed since she first gave voice to Dory. But according to director Andrew Stanton, their reunion was just like old times - in more ways than one. "I saw Ellen on the same recording stage at Disney Studios with the same engineer and the same crew as the last day we had worked in 2003. She walked in and we picked up exactly where we had left off."

The new story features a deeper side of the ever-optimistic fish, challenging DeGeneres to showcase a wide range of emotion. "Doing an animated film is really fun," she says. "But it can be difficult because every emotion has to come from your voice. You can't pretend to cry, because that just sounds like you're pretending to cry. So it's all real - real conversations, real emotion."

"To me, Dory was always a tragic character," says Stanton. "Short-term memory loss just can't be fun. No matter how much she puts her brave face on and makes the best of an extremely difficult condition, it has to be frustrating and frightening. She has no idea where - who - she comes from."

Adds screenwriter Victoria Strouse, "I think her cheery personality is her way of compensating for her shortcomings. Her helpfulness works to induce others to stay with her, to ensure she's never alone. She has a deep fear of being abandoned, and an even deeper fear about her own short-term memory loss and how it might alienate others and cause them to leave her."

Dory may have trouble recalling exactly what - or who - she's searching for, but she won't give up until she uncovers her past and discovers something else along the way: self-acceptance. "In the beginning, she is painfully aware that she requires Marlin and Nemo's help," says co-director Angus MacLane. Over the course of the film, she learns to listen to her gut again, accept who she is and her unique way of thinking and living - and that becomes the key to her success."

"I think people love Dory because there's not one speck of judgment in her," adds DeGeneres. "She's never mean. No matter what she's faced with, she just carries on. She does what needs to be done."

"Finding Dory" features an all-star voice cast, welcoming Ellen DeGeneres and Albert Brooks back to the sea as favorite fish Dory and Marlin. Ed O'Neill lends his voice to "septopus" Hank, Kaitlin Olson voices whale shark Destiny, and Ty Burrell gives voice to beluga whale Bailey. Portraying Dory's parents Charlie and Jenny are Eugene Levy and Diane Keaton. And 12-year-old Hayden Rolence steps in to help bring Nemo to life.

Swimming into Philippine theaters on Thursday, June 16th, "Finding Dory is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International through Columbia Pictures.
