Joseph Marco Charged with Rape and Murder in 'Ipaglaban Mo'

ABS-CBN’s hit legal drama “Ipaglaban Mo” takes on the case of a man with disabilities who raped and murdered his victim this Saturday (May 14).

Tonyo (Joseph Marco) is blind in his left eye and has an amputated left arm. He lives near the home of his former live-in partner, widow Celia (Helga Krapf) who has two children, Angel (Dexie Diaz) and Aries (JC Mantala).

Having built a strong relationship with the family, Tonyo is even treated by Celia’s children like their second father.

Until one day, Tonyo calls on Angel to come to his house. Unknown to her, Tonyo has been sexually repressed for a long time and saw this as an opportunity to release his frustrations. Sadly, the encounter not only resulted in a case of rape but of also murder.

TFC Brings Maja Salvador, Rayver Cruz and KZ Tandingan in the First OKGo! in Korea

The Filipino Channel (TFC) welcomed hundreds of Filipinos as the premier network brought its much-talked about event One Kapamilya Go! (OKGo!) to the “Land of the Morning Calm” in April at the Dong Sung Middle High School Auditorium in Hyewadong.

Headlining TFC’s biggest event in Korea to date are the most exciting Kapamilya stars performing their iconic music and international covers: Dance Empress Maja Salvador; Kapamilya Heartthrob Rayver Cruz; MOR 101.9’s DJ Cha Cha and Soul Diva KZ Tandingan.

From start to finish, deafening screams welcomed the Kapamilya stars beginning with Rayver who opened with covers of international hits.  He simmered down with Jireh’s viral hit “Buco” to which the ladies gushed to in delight.  Once he gave the ladies a chance to join him, a handful of ladies volunteered.

Host plus book author DJ Cha Cha had to conduct an impromptu contest to let the one contest winner to spend an entire song’s worth with Rayver.

While Rayver brought the thrills, KZ delivered powerful performances that left the audience in awe.  Most applauded were her own hits “Huwag Ka Nang Umiyak” and “Mahal Ko, O Mahal Ako.”

Bringing the house down with her exciting dance numbers is Maja who showed she could sing as well as she could dance as she performed her own hit “Dahan Dahan” among other hits.

The crowd went wild when Rayver joined perennial dancing partner Maja in a medley of Gary Valenciano dance hits.

Ailene Averion, managing director for ABS-CBN Asia Pacific shares that she was more than surprised when she received such a positive response from the Filipinos in South Korea.  “Filipinos in the country are yearning for entertainment from the homeland and this was evident in how hundreds came. In fact, we even had to add seats to accommodate more.”

In addition Averion said: “At the end of the concert, Filipino wanted more.  This clamor further inspires us not only to bring OKGo! but other events as well that will entertain, further inspire and make Filipinos proud of the Filipino artistry.”

The positive feedback also reverberated with the Filipino community and the Philippine post in South Korea.  No less than Philippine Ambassador to South Korea Raul Hernandez came to watch the show.

According to H.E. Hernandez "Our fellow Filipinos do their best to fit in Korea's strict and competitive workplace culture. So they experience various levels of stress in addition to working hard for their families’ future.

Hernandez adds, given the pressure, Filipinos here look forward to every opportunity to keep their mind off work during weekends, be reminded of home and revel in the pride of being a Filipino.  “Given this type of pressure, Filipinos living in Korea try to take advantage of every opportunity to relax during weekends, be reminded of home and revel in the pride of being Filipino.

Like the kababayans in South Korea, Ambassador Hernandez was also impressed.  “The level of entertainment I have seen at OKGo! is very high. I was impressed with the professionalism and the ability to carry on regardless of the situation. They're really troopers. I can truly say world-class talaga ang Pinoy."

H.E. Hernandez said that what is heartening for him is that the event did not only showcase the Filipino artistry but as well as advocacy.  During the pre-show host Roy Perez and Grazee Asis reminded the overseas Filipinos in the area to vote as designated places had just opened that day, via TFC’s #Vote4ASelfieWorthyPH campaign.

Indeed “OKGo!” has gone past being one of TFC’s signature events that elicit Filipino pride but has also become a coming together of the Filipino community and celebration of our nationalism.

OKGo! Korea was made possible by Philippine Airlines, SMDC, and Moneygram with the support of Fr. Alfredo G. Africa Jr. of the Archdiocesan Pastoral Center for Filipino Migrants; distribution partners Roger Amboy of the Hyehwadong Catholic Community and Dawn Pantejo of the Ansan Community; event coordinator Dinah Magat of Philtrust Corporation ; performers BeCaFe Dance Group, Belle Ariola of the Ansan Community and Mary Joy Lor (Grand Champion of International Migrants Song Festival who sang Bang Bang).

To continue enjoying homegrown programs and the company of Kapamilya stars, Filipinos in Korea can subscribe to TFC.tv via these agents: Oscar Amboy of Pinoy Shop and Trading with nos. 010-5681-0581 or 070-4100-0581; Dinah Magat of Philtrust Corporation and Kusina restaurant with landline no. 02 790-1826 and mobile no. 010-9465-1826 or 070-7687-2296.  Visit facebook.com/TFCKorea for details.

John Lloyd Cruz Reacts to Angelica Panganiban's Hugot Lines: 'Napaka-arogante naman....'

John Lloyd Cruz has finally spoken up about the viral "hugot" lines of ex-girlfriend Angelica Panganiban on comedy show "Banana Sundae."

The "Just the 3 of Us" star star said it would be "arrogant" for him to think that the "hugot" lines are meant for him.

"It’s a gag comedy show so parang it wouldn’t be too great kung isipin ko para sa akin 'yun. Kasi parang not everything is about you John Lloyd," he said.

"Napakaarogante naman kung iisipin ko na lahat 'yung mga 'yun ay patama sa akin. Sa kaso namin, alam namin 'yung totoo. Alam ko 'yung totoo and I think that’s more than enough para hindi ko isipin 'yung mga ganoong bagay," he added.

Lloydie stressed that he remained friends with Angelica after their breakup, adding that that they even constantly text each other.

"Sana huwag mabigyan ng kulay or huwag mabigyan ng ibang ibig sabihin because dalawang tao kaming may pinagsamahan and hindi naman imposibleng maging magkaibigan kami," he said. - ABSCBNNews

ABS-CBN Net Income Grows 34% in 1Q 2016

ABS-CBN Corp. said Thursday net income in the first quarter grew 34 percent as advertising revenues got a boost from the election campaign and the network’s top-rating shows.

The country’s largest media and entertainment company said net income in the January to March period grew to P761 million from P569 million, as advertising revenues grew 30 percent.

As expected, we saw a big jump in advertising revenues driven by a combination of an improvement in our ratings and an increase in airtime placements from regular advertisers and from candidates running for office in the May elections,” ABS-CBN chief financial officer Aldrin Cerrado said in a statement.

The official campaign for the May 9 elections started in February but candidates have begun ad placements as early as last year. Tough-talking Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte won the presidential election based on preliminary counts and his rivals have conceded.

ABS-CBN’s new airtime pricing scheme, which is based on the program’s ratings, will have its first full year of implementation this year.

The network expects net income of P3.2 billion to P3.5 billion this year, from P2.5 billion in 2015.

Shares of the company were up 0.93 percent to 54 pesos in early trade.

Doris Bigornia Threatens to Punch GMA-7 Reporter; ABS-CBN Issues Statement

ABS-CBN senior news correspondent Doris Bigornia is now under fire for alleged rudeness towards GMA Network Southern Mindanao news team in Davao City, even threatening to punch its DMNG Engineer Al Lim Ramz.

In a lengthy Facebook post by Kapuso reporter John Paul Seniel, he narrated how they were mistreated by the Kapamilya reporter during a live interview with President-elect Rodrigo Duterte’s aide Bong Go.

In a statement released by ABS-CBN through its corporate communications head Kane Choa, the Kapamilya network noted that they won't tolerate any misconduct of any of their reporters. It added that they have already contacted Bigornia to explain her side on the incident.

"Bigornia has given her side of the story and we are now evaluating the claims and counter-claims of the two reporters," the statement read.

They also noted to have "reached out to the GMA reporter to discuss the issue."

The network assured the public of their "commitment to uphold the provisions of our Ethics and Standards Manual."

This is not the first time that Bigornia got involved in a public brawl. On April 17 last year, she also earned ire from netizens after a video of her and daughter arguing with a group of people during The Script concert in Manila surfaced online.

Vice Ganda is John Lloyd Cruz' Love Interest in the Next Star Cinema Movie

Blockbuster director Cathy Garcia-Molina has confirmed that a Star Cinema romantic-comedy movie starring John Lloyd Cruz and Vice Ganda is already in the works.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Tuesday, she said: “We are working on it. Nasa conceptualization kami. Hopefully within next week, makapag-present kami ng concepts to both.

During the Sunday episode of “Gandang Gabi Vice,” Vice Ganda admitted that it has been his dream to be directed by Molina.

All of the comedian’s hit movies were directed by Wenn Deremas, who passed away last February.

According to Molina, if the movie project of Vice Ganda and Cruz pushes through, it will definitely be shown within the year.

Look: Sandro Marcos - the Cute Heir to Marcos Throne

Sandro Marcos, son of vice presidential candidate Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., has been the target online with his "reckless" remarks on some issues concerning the VP bid of his dad.

He first caught the attention of netizens when he mistakenly shaded the name of Presidential candidate Grace Poe instead of his bet Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.

"Yes, I shaded two presidents, it was an honest error on my part . I was a first time voter and extremely nervous. I voted for Duterte as president, and saw the number 4 right after, so shaded that as it was my dad's number. I ended up shading Poe's name instead of my dad's, so my presidential vote didn't count," said Sandro.

Moving on to the tight race between his dad and Liberal Party VP-contender Leni Robredo, Sandro again dominates the Twittter top-trending topics when he patiently defends his family to critics saying the Marcoses are not entitled to hold any government position because of its many issues in the past which includes ill-gotten wealth, human right violations, dictatorship, and so on.

On Wednesday, the young Marcos dominates the social media when the hashtag #SandroIsTheRealVP  trends on Twitter with more that 62,000 mentions as of 10PM.

Rodrigo Durterte's 2 Wives to Live in Malacanang, Sara Duterte Says No to Being 'First Lady'

One of her father’s most ardent supporters, Atty. Sara Duterte-Carpio was at the forefront when the people clamored for Mayor Rodrigo Duterte to run for President.

She even shaved her head to convince her father to agree.

Of course, everyone knows how it all turned out as we now await the final proclamation of Duterte’s win as president.

Does this mean the younger Duterte will be the next 'First Lady'?

In the GMA documentary election special Wanted President, Duterte revealed that his daughter volunteered to take the title.

He said, “Early on, it was Inday [Sara] who volunteered that she wants to be the First Lady since she is the top honcho sa pamilya namin. She’s the Alpha of the family.”

But as game day drew nearer, Sara seemed to have changed her mind and preferred to stay in Davao as its mayor.

In an interview with Philippine Star, Sara explained her decision.

If I win as mayor of Davao, I want to focus on my job. Gusto ko nakatutok sa trabaho. My family is there. The biggest challenge of being a politician is motherhood. Time management.”

She has two kids: adopted daughter Sharky, 7, and son Stingray, 3, with her husband Mans Carpio.

Sara started out reluctant to pursue politics, which had been a heated topic between her and her father.

The eldest daughter of Duterte did become a lawyer as her dad wanted, but she initially pursued that path of becoming a doctor despite the disapproval of her dad.

But circumstances led Sara to San Beda Law School after a year in medical school.

Eventually, the younger Duterte was asked to run for the city's vice-mayor.

Initially, she declined, but was eventually convinced in 2007.

That period in her life affirmed her notion that being a mother and a politician had its strains.

Sara recalled in an interview with ABS-CBN News, “Si Sharky ang pinakakawawa nung 2007.

So bumawi ako nung…sabi ko, 'Mali. Mali na itong ginagawa ko.' Bumawi na ako.”

But in 2010, Sara became the first woman and the youngest to be elected as mayor. She served until 2013.

In GMA’s 24 Oras special news series Kabiyak, Sara underlined that growing up with her father molded her into the woman that is she today.

Nakita ko yung trabaho niya from nine year old hanggang ngayon. Mabilis na ako mag-decide, kung merong isyu, may problema, kasi kinalakihan ko na, e. Parang second nature ko na.”

In the same interview with GMA on Wanted President, Duterte clarified that he does see himself as a single man, but acknowledges the current lady of his life, his common-law wife Honeylet Avancena.

They have a 12-year-old daughter Veronica, nicknamed Kitty.

Honeylet is willing to live in Malacanang with Duterte, but would prefer to live a quiet life away from the public eye.

She has been with Duterte for 20 years.

She worked as a registered nurse in the U.S., where she gave birth to their daughter.

Meanwhile, Durterte’s ex-wife Elizabeth “Beth” Zimmerman has remained a part of his life as well.

Beth is currently battling Stage 3 breast cancer, but still took part in her ex-husband’s presidential campaign.

Her ground for annulment was emotional abuse.

They had three kids together: Paulo, the current Davao vice-mayor, Sara, and Sebastian. All of them are married with children.

Despite their annulment, Beth and Duterte consider themselves friends.

He even liked the idea of having Beth in Malacanang, along with him and Honeylet. - PEP.ph

Celebrity Winners and Losers in #Election2016

While Alma Moreno , Edu Manzano and Isko Moreno failed to even make it to top 20, Tito Sotto and Manny Pacquiao already sealed their spots in the senatorial race of the 2016 elections.

Other celebrities who are now close to victory are Vilma Santos, Herbert Bautista, Richard Gomez, Lucy Torres-Gomez, Jolo and mom Lani Revilla, and Jhong Hilario.

Unofficial, partial results also show Herbert Bautista leading the mayoral race in Quezon City, while Jhong Hilario is poised to become the No. 1 councilor in the first district of Makati City.

Alfred Vargas ran unopposed as the representative of the 5th District of Quezon City.

Veteran actress Vilma Santos is leading the race as the newest representative of the 6th District of Batangas.

Alex Castro also appears to be the No. 1 provincial board member in the 4th District of Bulacan.

Daniel Fernando is leading the race against fellow action star Philip Salvador as vice governor of Marilao, Bulacan.

Jolo Revilla is close to winning the vice gubernatorial race in Cavite while his mother Lani Mercado was already proclaimed as the new mayor of Bacoor, Cavite.

Richard Gomez is set to win his first political post, the mayoral poll in Ormoc City, while his wife Lucy Torres topped the congressional race in the 4th District of Leyte.

Andrea del Rosario appears to be winning the vice mayoral race in Calatagan, Batangas.

But like any other race, some celebrities were not lucky to shine in this year's polls, as they failed to get enough number of votes.

Isko Moreno, Edu Manzano, Mark Lapid, Rey Langit, and Alma Moreno didn't make it to the list of top 12 senators.

ER Ejercito continues to lag in the gubernatorial race in Laguna.

Former sexy actress Angelica Jones is close to being defeated in vice gubernatorial race also in Laguna.

Daisy Reyes is lacking votes to win the mayoral race in Pateros.

Former OMB chairman Ronnie Rickets appears to be losing his battle as the representative of Muntinlupa. -  ABS-CBNNews
