Karla Estrada to Become the Next Kris Aquino, Signs Exclusive ABS-CBN Contract

Karla Estrada quickly dispelled rumors that she will be hosting a morning show, replacing her friend Kris Aquino, who announced on Tuesday that she will be taking a hiatus from show business.

"Tigilan natin 'yan. Hindi totoo 'yan," Estrada said in an interview on Wednesday with ABS-CBN News and

"At saka hindi mapapalitan si Mareng Kris dahil napakagaling noon. walang makakapantay doon. Kanya-kanya tayo ng style. Kris Aquino is Kris Aquino. My God, hindi nga sumagi sa isip ko 'yan. Nakakaloka kayo."

On Tuesday, Estrada signed an exclusive contract with ABS-CBN and part of the deal is that she will be hosting a new game show.

But asked if she's open to do a morning show, Estrada said: "Sa mga offer-offer, wala itong kinalaman sa kahit kanino and huwag na nating (bahiran). Ngayon nga lang dumating, kung makabahid naman kayo, grabe. Bigyan natin ng chance muna na makahinga na magpasaya, 'di ba? Tignan natin kung saan tayo."

Estrada said she supports Aquino's decision to take a well-deserved break for herself and her family.

"I think she deserves it. Kasi masyadong matagal na din siya at kailangan na niya din ng pahinga dahil sakitin 'yan si Mareng Kris. Matalino naman siyang tao so kung anuman ang desisyon niya, alam niyang tama 'yon para sa kanya at para sa mga anak niya," Estrada said. -

TV5 Media Head Chot Reyes Speaks at Mobile World Congress 2016

Chot Reyes, five-time Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Coach of the Year and head of Media5, was invited to speak at the recently held Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona Spain. Deemed as the world’s biggest and most influential mobile event, Mobile World Congress is an annual event that offers a global venue for mobile industry networking, innovative discussions, business opportunities and deal-making. Reyes was one of the panelists in the session on, “Stadiums: Enhancing the Fan Experience,’’ which was one of the highlights of the four-day congress.

He was joined by other CEOs and industry leaders from NBA, ESPN, Cisco, EE, Orange, Telstra and Hopscotch in exploring the evolution of stadiums as the ultimate incarnation of some of the most innovative consumer mobile experiences. Coming from the Philippines which has gained a reputation as the selfie capital of the world, and in a country where basketball is considered as a ‘’religion,’’ the former PBA head coach emphasized the importance of sports-team apps in enhancing the fan experience.

Speaking of his own experience from home, Coach Chot recalls how TV5 as the official exclusive broadcast partner of PBA partnered with Hopscotch, a leader in mobile-platform technology in creating PBA apps. According to Reyes, “we turned to Hopscotch to create a mobile experience that’s more personal and interactive than just watching on TV.  The partnership will deploy an app for specifically for each of the PBA’s 12 teams and their fans.  The PBA team apps will have exclusive team-specific content, social media content integration, real-time game statistics and access to PBA game live streams.  We want the selfie-taking super fan to feel like they’re part of the team.”

John Lapuz, a Closeted Gay Virgin in 'Echorsis: Sabunutan Between Good and Evil'

Topnotch comedian and television host John Lapus plays a closeted gay character raised in an uptight religious family in the much-awaited horror-comedy film, “Echorsis: Sabunutan Between Good and Evil”—and he is endlessly amused by it.

Gosh, my character, Kristoff, and I have contrasting experiences with being gay. I was never ‘paminta’ (closeted). Never ako naging stiff and never kong itinago kung sino talaga ako,” John says.

And unlike Kristoff, too, John did not go through a traumatic “coming out” moment with his family. His mom, especially, had accepted his sexuality early on.

My father abandoned us when I was in Grade 6, so it was much easier siguro in my case na mag-come out, unlike Kristoff na lumaki kasama ang tatay nyang military,” John muses.

In “Echorsis,” John’s character Kristoff is an emotionally vulnerable, closeted gay virgin who falls prey to a gigolo named Carlo (Alex Medina), who is possessed by a gay demon after Kristoff’s untimely death. Carlo later undergoes exorcism rites performed by Father Nick, played by Kean Cirpriano.

Movie fans believe that Echorsis’ which was produced by Chris Cahilig of Insight 360, directed by critically acclaimed filmmaker Lemuel Lorca, and written by Jerry Gracio, is another breakthrough film for John who has played memorable roles in blockbuster movies like “Here Comes The Bride” and “Moron 5 and the Crying Lady.”

May kaunti ring drama kaya kakaiba,” he reveals. “Nakakaaliw din ang concept na paminta ako nung una at first time ko yatang gumawa ng isang ‘dark comedy’.”

John’s on-screen romance with the ruggedly handsome “kilabot ng mga beki” (gay heartthrob) Alex Medina has intrigued netizens, particularly the local LGBT community.

SweetLex is the love team to beat,” the comedian quips, giggling. “Mas mahaba pa ito sa SLex at NLex. Malamang magkakatuluyan din kami—like JaDine,” he jests.

And is it true that John had a love scene with Alex?

. . Nakaka-tense talaga!” he recalls.

John confesses that he has never been attracted to his fellow actors but it might be different this time around. “Malamang kay Alex pa lang!” he laughs.

John says he isn’t surprised that the trailer of Echorsis has become viral. “It’s different and yet familiar. Turns out horror and comedy with a touch of kabaklaan is a winning combo,” he laughs.

The comedian likewise affirms that Echorsis is a potential box-office hit. John, however, urges fans to show their support by watching the flick on its first day and then sharing their feedback on social media.

Completing the ensemble cast of Echorsis are Alessandra de Rossi, Chokoleit, Kiray Celis, Mich Liggayu, Ruby Ruiz, Negi Negra, Bekimon, Nico Antonio, Francine Garcia, Odette Khan, and 1:43’s Yuki Sakamoto, Anjo Resurreccion, Gold Aquino, and Yheen Valero.

Echorsis is supported by BellaVita Land Corp. and McJim Classic Leather.

In an Instagram post over the weekend, the Queen of All Media said her busy schedule has taken a toll on her health.

Went to first Friday mass with Ate, updated and consulted this weekend with all my siblings regarding my health issues because they worry about their bunso... We consulted with my team of doctors on what I should do for long term wellness,” she wrote.

My BP Thu night to Sat night was elevated, sadly when I have a heavy workload for 3-4 straight days, even on maintenance, it spikes; normalized today because I had complete bed rest yesterday.šŸ˜‡ Went to 1st Friday Mass w/ Ate, updated & consulted this weekend w/ all my siblings regarding my health issues because they worry about their bunso... We consulted w/ my team of doctors on what I should do for long term wellness. 'Tubig at Langis' Production Takes the Side of Cristine Reyes Over 'Rude' Allegations by Vivian Velez

The production team of the ABS-CBN afternoon drama “Tubig at Langis,” on Tuesday released a statement defending the show's lead actress Cristine Reyes over Vivian Velez' accusations of rudeness and took responsibility for the supposed “miscommunication” between the two actress.

Cristine Reyes Belies Vivian Velez' Accusations

Sexy Kapamilya actress Cristine Reyes airs her side on the controversy involving her and “Tubig at Langis” co-star Vivian Velez.

READ: Vivian Velez Calls Cristine Reyes 'Bastos', Resigns from 'Tubig at Langis'

In a lengthy statement, Cristine narrated her version of the incident.

I just want to put things in perspective. I have always put our senior stars in high regard and do my best to treat them with much respect.

In fact, I have not had any incidents like this with anyone, senior or otherwise, on the set of any project until now.

When we first started taping for Tubig at Langis, everyone was working well together.

But about two weeks ago, I had an issue with the tent assigned to me.

It was infested with so many mosquitos that made it very uncomfortable to stay in.

I was also quite afraid of any of us getting dengue.

The Associate Producer (AP) instructed the production staff to put katol but it proved ineffective.

I endured that taping day with the production’s promise to transfer me to a better dressing room in FUTURE tapings.

I thought that it was not so much to ask because I’m the first to arrive and the last to be packed up most of the time due to the volume of sequences I had to do every taping day.”

The next taping after that, I was transferred to a better dressing room.

It was the master’s bedroom of the location we were at.

From then on, that area became my regular dressing room or standby area.

Last Thursday (March 3), the Executive Producer asked me if Ms. Vivian can share the dressing room with me because her assigned area was not ready to be occupied yet. I, of course, agreed. I was fine sharing a room with any of my co-stars for as long as we have mutual respect. I would not have agreed with production if I had any ill feelings towards Ms. Vivian.

My staff and I came from shooting for a movie that day so we were all tired.

We tried to get some rest and sleep in the bedroom but Ms Vivian made it difficult for us.

She was busy fixing her things and in the process made a lot of noise.

She was also arguing with her Production Assistant then quite loudly that made sleeping impossible at that point.

At some point I stood up to use the rest room and was annoyed to see the toilet bowl unflushed, so when I went out I immediately called my make-up artist's attention thinking it was he who last used the bathroom.

I went out to get some air and went to where the common area for artists and production was. The EP asked me why I was there. I said that it was difficult to sleep with Ms Vivian inside the room.

The EP told me not to worry because Ms Vivian’s dressing room will soon be ready.

To quote the EP: ‘Pagpasensiyahan mo na.

Some time passed and finally the dressing room of Ms Vivian was ready.

From what I understand, she was first notified by the production assistants and upon being notified she threw a fit blaming me for her transfer.

The EP immediately tried to pacify her but she stood her ground and continued shouting, telling everyone that I was the one booting her out of the room.

It was then that I found out that the room assigned to me weeks back after the tent and mosquito incident used to be hers. I was not privy to this and so I fully understood what she was going through.

I then opted to just transfer and move out from the room assigned to me to ease tensions.

Later I spoke to the EP and requested a dialogue with Ms Vivian so I can make it clear with her that I had nothing to do with the request for her to transfer rooms.

To be very clear about it, I never requested anyone at any point for Ms Vivian to be transferred rooms.

In fact, I gladly welcomed production’s request for her to share a room with me while her room was still unavailable.

And despite the inconvenience I encountered while she was around, I had no intentions whatsoever of booting her out.

The EP told me that it was impossible at that time to have a dialogue with Ms Vivian because her emotions were still so high.

I did not want to push it too and, out of frustration and stress, I cried to my co-star Zanjoe Marudo.

Thursday taping finally packed up so we all went home with this issue unresolved.

Saturday taping followed, and upon arriving on the set, I was still stressed out that the incident has yet to reach any kind of resolution.

My co-stars on the set were joking around with me about the incident with jokes like, and I quote, ‘AA, sasabay daw si Ms Vivian sa car mo paglipat natin ng location, ayos lang ba?’ etc etc.

Our EP heard the jokes and instructed my co-stars to stop fooling around about the issue because the atmosphere is tense enough already.

The EP turned to me and said, and I quote, ‘Konting tiis na lang AA.

Still I would’ve appreciated a resolution better because I had nothing to do with the issue of Ms Vivian's source of anger. It was the production staff that was trying to transfer her and not me.

I in fact made the initiative to be the one to transfer dressing rooms that day to stop the issue then.

I was so stressed that when it was finally time for me to do a scene where Ms Vivian will be present I was trying to motivate myself by just singing Avril Lavigne’s ‘Goodbye’ song before doing the scene.

It was of course subliminal because of my knowledge of her departure from the show.

It was short of saying to myself precisely what the EP informed me earlier.

More than anything, it was my way of dealing with the situation to get the job done.

The scene was shot and thank God it was not with Ms Vivian directly but with Zanjoe.

Ms Vivian was also there but her point of view was also with Zanjoe.
When the taping of the scene was done, I was still stressed and continued singing while I was walking up the stairs towards my dressing room to ease some of my stress and tension.

It was at the point where I was on the stairs that Ms Vivian and her make-up artist charged towards me.

Ms Vivian started to shout at me and, I quote, ‘Ako ba ang pinariringgan mo!? Sino ka ba?! Superstar ka ba?!’

I got rattled at this point and I just answered her in a mild manner, ‘Kumakanta lang naman ako, masama ba kumanta?’

And it was at this point that Zanjoe pulled me away from the scene because he was alarmed with the way both Ms Vivian and her make-up artist were charging toward me.”

I am sorry that some gaps in the communication between the production staff, Ms Vivian, and myself escalated some issues.

I reiterate that I wanted them resolved soonest for everyone’s peace of mind.

I am also sorry that emotions got so heightened that some of my actions were misconstrued for rudeness when they were, more than anything else, my own way of coping with the stressful working conditions on the set in this particular instance.

But I sincerely apologize if it hurt Ms Vivian or anybody else.

I do have high regard for and respect with thanks senior artists who have paved the way for stars like me in the industry.”

Vivian Velez Calls Cristine Reyes 'Bastos', Resigns from 'Tubig at Langis'

Veteran sexy-drama actress Vivian Velez has filed an irrevocable resignation from the ABS-CBN daily afternoon soap “Tubig at Langis” after she was allegedly humiliated by the soap's lead actress Cristine Reyes.

With much trepidation, I would like to tender my immediate irrevocable resignation, effective immediately, from the show, ‘Tubig at Langis.’ I have never been so upset and humiliated by an actress in my entire career spanning four decades!” Velez posted on Facebook.

Velez complained that she has been receiving shabby treatment from Reyes for a month now. Velez alleged that Reyes bangs the doors, shouts at her and even sings ‘Goodbye, Farewell’ in front of her face while rehearsing.”

The straw that broke the camel’s back was when we shared a designated standby room and she asked me to leave the room because she wants it only for her own.

She complained to the production staff why they are nice to me and she should be the priority all the time. And many other instances of rudeness that were uncalled for. Grabe siya. Bastos” Velez said in an interview with PEP.

Asked why the young sexy actress sang that particular song, Velez replied: “Because she found out that I was already contemplating on leaving the show. She wanted to humiliate me… that she was happy to see me go.

Velez said she hopes ABS-CBN “would discipline Reyes. I heard from others that she really has this kind of reputation… Bastos.”
