Robin Padilla Teams-up with Alex Gonzaga and MJ Lastimosa in Newest ABS-CBN Game Show ‘Game ng Bayan’

It’s a whole new ‘bayanihan’ experience as members of the barangay unite for one common goal— to win the jackpot that will help their community - in ABS-CBN’s newest game show “Game ng Bayan,” which premieres this Monday (March 7) on Kapamilya Gold.

Hosted by the “Idol ng Bayan,” Robin Padilla, with the “Tol ng Bayan,” Alex Gonzaga, the show involves one hundred members of the community who are given a random challenge for a chance to win an identified need of the community such as renovation of daycare centers or basketball courts, light posts, etc.

Joining the hosts are “Tropa ng Bayan” composed of Eric Nicolas, MJ Lastimosa and Negi, who will guide contestants to become local heroes in their community.

“Game ng Bayan” begins with six individuals from a chosen barangay competing in the “Ang Dami Mong Alam” round, where they will be asked a question with multiple answers. Elimination occurs when a contestant answers incorrectly, when a contestant repeats an answer, and when all possible answers have been exhausted. In this round, only three will remain to move on to the next round, which is “Buksan ang Plato.”

In “Buksan ang Plato,” the remaining three contestants will take turns in opening numbered plates and must get three which says “Yehey” under it. In this round, they will be joined by their family or friends to help them make the crucial decision of which plates to open. The first contestant who successfully reveals three “Yeheys” goes through to the next round.

In the jackpot round, one hundred members of the community join the contestant as they work together to accomplish a task that will only be revealed before the round begins. Unity and teamwork will be the only way for the community to win their chosen jackpot prize.

Winning barangays from Monday to Thursday will then compete with each other by Friday to determine the best barangay for the week.

“Game ng Bayan” is an original concept by ABS-CBN.

Catch all the fun and excitement of “Game ng Bayan” premiering this Monday (March 7) after “And I Love You So” on ABS-CBN.

(Movie Trailer) 'Pete's Dragon' Starring Bryce Dallas Howard, Wes Bentley and Robert Redford

“Pete's Dragon,” the live-action reimagining of Disney’s cherished family film, has just released its teaser trailer. Watch below:

“Pete’s Dragon” is the adventure of an orphaned boy named Pete and his best friend Elliott, who just so happens to be a dragon. The film stars Bryce Dallas Howard (“Jurassic World”), Oakes Fegley (“This is Where I Leave You”), Wes Bentley (“The Hunger Games”), Karl Urban (“Star Trek”), Oona Laurence (“Southpaw”) and Oscar® winner Robert Redford (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier”).

For years, old wood carver Mr. Meacham (Redford) has delighted local children with his tales of the fierce dragon that resides deep in the woods of the Pacific Northwest. To his daughter, Grace (Howard), who works as a forest ranger, these stories are little more than tall tales…until she meets Pete (Fegley). Pete is a mysterious 10-year-old with no family and no home who claims to live in the woods with a giant, green dragon named Elliott. And from Pete’s descriptions, Elliott seems remarkably similar to the dragon from Mr. Meacham’s stories. With the help of Natalie ( Laurence), an 11-year-old girl whose father Jack (Bentley) owns the local lumber mill, Grace sets out to determine where Pete came from, where he belongs, and the truth about this dragon.

“Pete's Dragon,” which is directed by David Lowery (“Ain’t Them Bodies Saints”), is written by Lowery & Toby Halbrooks based on a screenplay by Malcolm Marmorstein and produced by Jim Whitaker, p.g.a. (“The Finest Hours,” “Friday Night Lights”), with Barrie M. Osborne (“The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring,” “The Great Gatsby”) serving as executive producer.

Opening across the Philippines on August 31, “Pete's Dragon” is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures through Columbia Pictures. GMA-7 Airs a Highly Intriguing Family Drama 'Hanggang Makita Kang Muli' Starting March 7 After 'Wish I May'

A highly intriguing family drama, it studies the astounding life of one feral child who has lived isolated from human contact from a very young age, and has little or no experience of human care, behaviour, or, crucially, of human language.

This original series magnifies the unbearable pain and far-reaching consequences of disconnectedness, physically and emotionally.

Hanggang Makita Kang Muli is headlined by the much anticipated team up of Derrick Monasterio and Bea Binene who plays her most challenging role to date.

Hanggang Makita Kang Muli - Cast and Characters:

Bea (Ana Medrano) - a feral child who is isolated from human contact and confined in a dark room for a very long time.

Derrick (Calvin Manahan) - a compassionate psychology student who will find Ana in the heart of the woods while hiking with his best friend.

Angelika dela Cruz (Evelyn Medran) - Ana’s mother, a renowned psychiatrist and a nurturing and compassionate mother.  She struggles to forgive her husband for being responsible for Ana’s disappearance and will result to them living apart from each other.
Raymart Santiago (Larry Medrano) - Ana's father, an architect and a loving father to his only daughter Ana.  His wife Evelyn Medrano played by Angelika dela Cruz is a renowned psychiatrist and a nurturing and compassionate mother.

Ina Feleo (Odessa) - an obsessive admirer to Larry and the kidnapper of their child.

Kim Rodriguez (Claire) - Calvin’s socialite girlfriend.

Rita Avila (Glenda) - the mother of Calvin and a best friend to Evelyn.

Ramon Christopher (Francis) - Calvin’s father who has a heart for the poor.

Luz Valdez (Conching) - a sickly aunt to Odessa who knows all of her niece’s secrets.

Shyr Valdez (Helen) - the elder sister of Evelyn who acts as her confidant.

Marco Alcaraz (Dominic) -  a colleague and a friend to Larry who knows about his affair with Odessa.

Jak Roberto (Elmo) - Calvin’s best friend who secretly admires Claire.

Meanwhile, the woman they saved from her attempted suicide is rejoicing after planning the kidnap of Ana. Odessa’s (Ina) intention was to destroy their family so she can get Larry’s affection. She then locks Ana in a barn and gives her food every once in a while, but never letting her out of confinement and making development of her social skills suffer.  As Odessa begins to live a life full of false love with Larry, Ana finds a way to escape and will be rescued by Calvin.

How will Ana survive the world she did not know existed? Will she find her way home to her family? And is there hope for Evelyn and Larry to hold their daughter in their arms again?

Director Laurice Guillen, who helms Hanggang Makita Kang Muli, says the series’ storyline will capture the viewers’ interest and curiosity because this is the first TV show that will tackle the case of a feral child.

This will be the first time we will see on Philippine television a feral character – a human who grows up with the traits of an animal after years of captivity with only a dog as company, and her journey back to human life. Is it still possible? Is love enough to undo the scars of hatred and cruelty? Can the feral child live with humans once again? Will she find love again?” said Director Guillen.

'Echorsis' Lead Actor Alex Medina Reacts Growing Gay Fan Base: 'Nakak-flater. I like it!'

Mention Alex Medina’s name when chatting with a gay friend and chances are your chum will show all signs of being totally smitten.

Indeed, the ruggedly handsome actor and lead star of the horror-comedy film, “Echorsis: Sabunutan Between Good and Evil,” has been the object of the local gay community’s sexual fantasies in the past few years, earning him the moniker “kilabot ng mga beki” or “gay heartthrob.”

I like it,” Alex, the son of acclaimed actor Pen Medina, unabashedly admits. “If my being a gay heartthrob catches on, eh di sige, okay. I am comfortable with the way I am, which is why I’m fine with it. Nakaka-flatter s’ya actually.”

Medina relates that he used to receive numerous “indecent proposals” from gay fans on social media. However, such rabid attention eventually declined when he became more visible in movies and television.

Dati ang dami-dami kong natatanggap na ganung messages, pero lately wala na halos. How did I respond to these? I would nicely but candidly tell them, ‘Sorry po, that’s not my thing,’ ” he says.

In “Echorsis: Sabunutan Between Good and Evil,” Alex takes on the role of Carlo, a sweet-tongued and charismatic gigolo who was possessed by a gay spirit after the death of his lover Kristoff (John Lapus). The film, which likewise top-bills Callalily vocalist Kean Cipriano as Father Nick, was directed by critically acclaimed filmmaker Lemuel Lorca and was written by Jerry Gracio.

Doing the role of Carlo was both fun and challenging. Mahirap ang role, lalo na the physical side to it because I had to play various personas at the same time,” he recounts.

Alex even shares that he was initially more afraid of the so-called “curse” that reportedly afflicts those who work on the filming of horror movies than being typecast for such offbeat roles as the one he did for “Echorsis”.

Yes, I’ve heard stories that the cast and production crews of horror films occasionally experience real-life scary episodes,” Alex claims. “They say that the process inadvertently summons the dark forces that bring about the ‘curse’. Mas lalo akong kinabahan nang may naramdaman kaming mga unexplainable incidents sa set sa Bulacan. Sabi ko, baka ito na yun!

Such quirky sidelights notwithstanding, Alex is upbeat about the commercial success of “Echorsis”.

The actor believes that while it is expected to get the support of the pink market, the widely anticipated film will attract an even bigger audience, especially those who are looking for an out-of-the-box and intelligent narrative.

Echorsis is about love and forgiveness. Matatawa ka ng husto pero lalabas ka sa sinehan realizing na ni-respeto ka ng pelikula bilang isang matalinong manonood,” Alex stresses.

Even now, a few weeks prior to its April 13 opening in cinemas nationwide, the highly anticipated movie has become the talk of the town. Echorsis’ trailer has gone viral, receiving close to two million views.

Completing the ensemble cast of “Echorsis” are Alessandra de Rossi, Chokoleit, Kiray Celis, Mich Liggayu, Ruby Ruiz, Negi Negra, Bekimon, Nico Antonio, Francine Garcia, Odette Khan, and 1:43’s Yuki Sakamoto, Anjo Resurreccion, Gold Aquino, and Yheen Valero.

“Echorsis” is supported by BellaVita Land Corp. and McJim Classic Leather.

ABS-CBN Sweeps Top 10 TV Programs in February 2016, OTWOL Not Included

ABS-CBN is still the most-watched TV network based on recent data from Kantar Media that showed the Kapamilya Network sweeping the Top 10 programs for the month of February, and averaging an audience share of 45% from combined urban and rural homes nationwide vs. GMA 7’s 35%.

The phenomenal “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” (43.2%) is still the number one program in the whole nation and has not let go of the top spot since it aired five months ago. It is followed by “Pangako Sa ‘Yo” (40.1%), which repeatedly broke its ratings record during its final month. This is the first time both shows breached the 40% mark for its monthly average rating since they premiered. Another show that ended in the Top 5 was “Dance Kids” (35.2%) at the 3rd spot, followed by the new primetime favorite “Dolce Amore” (34.6%), and the weekend program “Pilipinas Got Talent Season 5” (32.7%).

Completing the Top 10 are “MMK” (31.6%), “TV Patrol” (30%), the only newscast in the Top 10, “Wansanapataym” (29.8%), “Home Sweetie Home” (26.7%), and Rated K (24.6%).

1. “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” (43.2%)
2. “Pangako Sa ‘Yo” (40.1%)
3. “Dance Kids” (35.2%)
4. “Dolce Amore” (34.6%)
5. “Pilipinas Got Talent Season 5” (32.7%)
6. “MMK” (31.6%)
7. “TV Patrol” (30%)
8. “Wansanapataym” (29.8%)
9. “Home Sweetie Home” (26.7%)
10. Rated K (24.6%)
Kantar Media uses a nationwide panel size of 2,609 urban and rural homes that represent 100% of the total Philippine TV viewing population, while the other ratings data supplier AGB Nielsen reportedly has only 2,000 homes based solely in urban areas that represent only 57% of the Philippine TV viewing population.

The primetime block remained Kapamilya country with ABS-CBN recording an average audience share of 51% vs. GMA’s 32%, for the month of February. Apart from those mentioned above, primetime programs “Pasion De Amor” and “On The Wings of Love,” also did well, both ending with a bang with an average national rating of 18.1% and 21.4%, respectively to finish in the Top 20. The primetime block is the most important part of the day when most Filipinos watch TV and advertisers put a larger chunk of their investment in to reach more consumers effectively.

Meanwhile, “It’s Showtime” (18.1%) was also able to sustain its strong January thanks to the success of its Tawag ng Tanghalan segment, enabling it to beat “Eat Bulaga” (14.9%), which has already dropped out of the Top 20 programs. “Be My Lady,” on the other hand, continued to dominate its rival program “Princess in the Palace,” averaging 17.5% to its competitor’s 8.7%. The station’s afternoon block also garnered a 42% nationwide rating vs. GMA’s 37%.

ABS-CBN’s new original singing game show in the weekend, “I Love OPM” is also off to a great start, with an average rating of 20.1%, enough for its inclusion in the Top 20 programs. Completing the weekend cast for ABS-CBN in the Top 20 are “Goin’ Bulilit” (21.4%), and “Ipaglaban Mo” (18.7%).

ABS-CBN also fared better than its competition in other territories such as Balance Luzon (areas in Luzon outside

outside Mega Manila) where it scored a national average audience share of 46% vs GMA’s 36%; in Visayas with 55% vs GMA’s 26% and in Mindanao with 57% vs GMA’s 26%

It was good while it lasted, it was good even when it ended. God is good all the time. On the blog is an announcement about my pregnancy, for those who care to know, we lost the baby. It isn't a very happy one so prayers and sensitivity are appreciated. Link: #mamawonders"

Despite the bad news, Rica chose to take it positively and accepted it as God’s will.
I believe that there is nothing I could have done to keep the baby, or to lose the baby, if it isn’t aligned with God’s good, pleasing and perfect will… Of course this doesn’t mean to say I am completely fine. I am in great emotional pain and many people say it will worsen in the days to come. Jolina Magdangal Returns to Her First Love, Launches 'Back To Love'

Jolina Magdangal has come home to the label that produced her biggest hits – Star Music – with an all-new album aptly titled “Back to Love,” a collection of unapologetically romantic love songs.

“It’s who I really am – I love love songs. I am sentimental. I’m happy when I sing ‘hugot’ songs. Mas kinikilig ako pag senti ‘yung kanta,” shared Jolina on her conscious choice to include only love songs in the album.

Her return to the recording scene was warmly welcomed by her fans as “Back to Love” recently scored a gold record award for having sold more than 7,500 units, just two weeks after its release.

Jolina also considers “Back to Love,” first album with Star Music in 14 years, a personal project as she has been involved in its making from its conception to its packaging.

I’m super hands-on with this album. I involved myself in everything – from choosing the concept, choosing the songs, to making the cover and music video. I’m also very thankful to Star Music for giving me a chance,” she shared.

“Back to Love” includes her first single “Ikaw Ba ‘Yon,” as well as “Kaya Mo Pa Ba,” “Paano Na To,” and “Nasaan Na” – all original ballads thick with heartache.

Jolina’s ‘90s hit “Kapag Ako Ay Nagmahal” also gets two re-recordings on the album – the mellow 2015 version and a remix featuring Gloc-9.

Moreover, Jolina collaborates with Vice Ganda on “Chuva Choo Choo 2.0,” which is made even more playful with the ‘unkabogable’ comedian’s vocals.

Completing the track list are “Sa Panaginip Lang,” “Still You,” “Ganito Pala Ang Pag-ibig,” and “Throwback Lang,” a duet with Kyla.

“Back to Love” can now be streamed on Spotify and is now available at all record bars nationwide at P299. Digital tracks can also be downloaded via online music stores such as ABS-CBN Store, iTunes,,,, and

'Hi-5 Philippines' Season 2 Airs Weekdays Morning on TV5

After debuting last year as the first and only all-Filipino cast for the local franchise of the award-winning Australian edutainment show, Hi-5 Philippines’ first season has been a one-of-a-kind ride for the cast and its young viewers. Philippine television witnessed the birth of the edutainment program of this generation, and the new icons of today’s youngsters in its maiden season.

And a new round of catchy songs, exhilarating dances and learning adventures await fans as the show returns for a second season. The vibrant gang of Hi-5 Philippines, composed of Fred, Rissey, Aira, Alex and Gerard, is sure to captivate kids and kids-at-heart once more with their irresistible charm, especially now that they’ve learned the ropes and have more to bring to the table.

The cast took time to reminisce about experiences during the show’s first run, look back at how much they’ve grown, and share their thrill for the new season. The group revealed that they have just as much fun as their viewers when doing the show.

My segments usually involve food and eating. One time, I had to eat bread and jam. It took several takes, that when our director requested for another one, I had to take a break because I ended up finishing the loaf, and was too full already,” Aira fondly recalls.

Meanwhile, Rissey reveals what an amusing challenge her Body Move segment is, with her mimicking different animals during storytelling. “I’ve been all kinds of animals already that I feel like I can create a ‘Rissey Zoo’ now,” she said.

However challenging, everyone recognizes how Hi-5 contributed to their growth as performers and as individuals. “It really stretched us as performers. The role requires being childlike, and doing this really helped me get in touch with the child within me,” Rissey said.

The bonding sessions with the group are the best thing about the first season for me. Clinging to each other through all the tapings and shows, and just doing everything else together was definitely unforgettable,” said Fred, adding that that made a huge contribution to them becoming more comfortable with their roles.

Being part of Hi-5 requires presenting a heightened version of ourselves. And in the course of doing that, we somehow embody our roles that it’s no longer just a character, it becomes us,” Gerard said.

They also recognized and acknowledged how amazing it is to be a role model that kids look up to. Although they admitted that being a role model comes with a great deal of responsibility as well.

It’s a lot of pressure to be a good role model to kids but it also gives you a really good feeling. A kind of warm rushing light fills you especially when you get feedback from the kids on how much impact you’re making in their lives,” Alex shared.

They said that the positive reception that they get from kids and parents during their live shows, in schools and malls, is overwhelming and very fulfilling.

It’s the best feeling when a kid comes up to us and tells us that we are their inspiration, or that they always look forward to watching our show,” Aira said. Gerard added that interacting with the kids in their live shows is when they feel most acknowledged for what they do.

In this regard, the Hi-5 barkada cannot contain their excitement for the new season. They’ll be bringing their learnings from season one and are hoping that fans will show them more love.

We hope everybody tunes in to Hi-5 Season 2 and see how much we’ve grown together. They can expect new songs and new adventures, as well as more of the good kind of craziness with the gang,” Rissey said. Fred spills that long-awaited songs will be part of season 2, including the group’s personal favorite “Wish Upon a Star.”

Join Fred, Rissey, Aira, Alex and Gerard for another Hi-5 season of fun, singing, dancing and active learning on "Hi-5 Philippines Season 2".

Hi-5 airs Monday through Friday at 8:30 a.m., Saturday at 9:30am and Sunday at 9:00 am, only on TV5.
