Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil to Replace Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla as Ruler of Primetime

From the phenomenal success of their top-rating series “Forevermore,” Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil – one of the country’s hottest love teams – return to primetime to give viewers a taste of love’s sweetness in ABS-CBN’s newest romantic drama “Dolce Amore.”

After making the whole country fall in love and believe in forever, Liza and Enrique take on “Dolce Amore,” a story of two young wandering souls, both in search of who they really are, who will be brought together by destiny and feel an infallible connection with each other.

It’s a project I think almost everyone will be able to relate to. It’s about finding your identity and finding love, and the story is just so fun and uplifting,” said Liza.

She plays Serena, a young girl raised in Italy by her adoptive parents. Though she lives a good life, she cannot shake off the feeling that an important part of her identity seems to be missing – the truth about where she came from.

Bearing the same struggles is the character of Enrique, Tenten, who grew up in an orphanage suffering from the pain of his real parents’ rejection. A hardworking “raketero,” Tenten takes on different jobs to help his adoptive family.

It’s a ‘peasant meets a princess’ kind of feel. It’s a very light teleserye, like what we all love – kind of ‘Forevermore’ feels,” shared Enrique.

Aside from “Forevermore,” the success of LizQuen also translated in the big screen, with “Just the Way You Are” and “Everyday I Love You” being certified box-office hits.

Moreover, Liza said that fans should expect her team-up with Enrique to level up in terms of ‘kilig,’ and that they will be more open to experimenting with their characters in “Dolce Amore.”

Serena’s and Tenten’s worlds will collide when Serena, in search of herself, wanders off and travels to the Philippines, a country she is strangely drawn to and heard about from her Filipina nanny.

From their unexpected meetup, the two will discover a sense of belonging with each other and will find themselves exploring the greatest adventure of all – falling in love.

Kapamilya singer-actor Matteo Guidicelli, meanwhile, will take on the role of Giancarlo, Serena’s best friend who is secretly in love with her.

Playing as Liza’s adoptive parents in the series are Cherie Gil (Luciana) and Ruben Maria Soriquez (Roberto), while Edgar Mortiz (Dodoy), Rio Locsin (Paps), and Kean Cipriano (Binggoy) will depict Enrique’s simple but loving adoptive family.

Also included in the “Dolce Amore” cast are Sunshine Cruz, Andrew E, and Frenchie Dy.

Cinema One Begins the Love Month with the TV Premiere of 'That Thing Called Tadhana' on February 7

Celebrate the beginning of the love month with a hugot feast and great conversations on life and love via the cable TV premiere of the hit Cinema One Originals film “That Thing Called Tadhana” on Cinema One this Sunday (February 7).

Relive the story of Mace (Angelica Panganiban) and Anthony (JM de Guzmans), two strangers who embark on an ultimate road trip in Baguio and Sagada to forget about their heartaches and to find an answer to the question, where do broken hearts go.

“That Thing Called Tadhana,” which gained commercial and critical success, is the country’s highest grossing Filipino independent film. It also reaped numerous honors including Audience Prize for Best Picture and Best Actress award for Angelica Panganiban in the 2014 Cinema One Originals Film Festival and four nominations in the prestigious 38th Gawad Urian Awards.

The movie also won as the grand prize winner of the 2015 Guam International Film Festival as the best narrative film feature.

Antoinette Jadaone’s film also earned positive reviews from notable film critics and was considered one of the best films of 2014 and 2015.

“There are two things that define the Filipino romantic comedy: kilig and manufactured conflict. What is strange and ultimately so memorable about That Thing Called Tadhana is that it eschews both. It strips romance down to its core,” said critic Philbert Dy of Click The City.

Fall slowly in love like Mace and Anthony this Sunday with “That Thing Called Tadhana” only on the number one channel Cinema One this Sunday at 8PM. Encore airing will be on February 13 at 9PM.

Explore, Discover, Experience Asia this Chinese New Year of the Red Monkey with Cebu Pacific

For most people, the annual spectacle of amazing lights with the familiar crackling sounds of fireworks displays greeted the start of the year 2016 in its usual glorious fashion. But for the Chinese, the Year of the Red Monkey is celebrated in February, through modern, authentic practices deeply rooted in tradition and history that truly proclaim Kung Hei Fat Choi.

Pioneers of New Year

But in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and China, celebrating the New Year is more than just a phenomenal social affair with an abundance of food and beverage to last until sunrise, as their celebrations continue to showcase the essential parts as to truly why the rest of the world has come to love the monumental event.

From visiting sacred temples for good fortune to cultural dragon dances, decorating with vibrant, lucky colors, acquiring auspicious symbols, and other rituals to pay homage for ancient traditions and beliefs, the Chinese New Year experience - that lasts for almost a month - in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and China is too epic and legendary for one to miss out on.

Hong Kong-style New Year

Hong Kong offers a lot more than its countless high-end stores, side-street food havens, and tantalizing night life. As the city turns bright red, its annual Chinese New Year Parade amazes as it transforms into a magical place of lights and sounds. Sacred temples get packed with pilgrims who pray for good fortune, while the festive markets offer only the best finds, ranging from classic to auspicious souvenirs, catering to people’s varying preferences.

Adding to the festive mood are local and international acts, such as the Hong Kong Pulse 3D Light Show, where electrifying audio-visual effects accompany magnificent lights, projected on the iconic buildings of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. One can also head over to the Lam Tsuen Wishing Square to write well wishes on colorful paper and hang them on the Lam Tsuen Wishing Trees. Those who want to try their luck in the New Year can visit Hong Kong’s horse race tracks, but the prestigious Parade of Floats will always be the highlight of the celebration with its picture-perfect fireworks show at the harbor.

After the New Year’s celebrations, travellers can head to other Hong Kong destinations such as Lan Kwai Fong, the country’s famous party hotspot, and the Temple Street Night Market, which boasts of exotic finds and delicious grub, while the Ocean Park and Hong Kong Disneyland add up to an unforgettable visit.

Get blown away in Taiwan

Up in the northern part of Taiwan is Pingxi district, home of the famous Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival - a visual treat for those looking to experience a different Chinese New Year. This festival offers a panoramic view of thousands of lanterns floated into the night sky. According to folklore, each glow represents the people’s prayers and the purification of their souls, ultimately promoting the country’s Down south, a complementary event takes place in Yanshui’s Beehive Fireworks Festival where thousands of fireworks go off at the same time to resemble thousands of bees streaming out of hives.

This festival, another mesmerizing visual event, traces back its roots to the folk and religious tradition of ridding off bad spirits and misfortune in the district.

Both festivities are prominent attractions during Chinese New Year celebrations. More than the stunning view of thousands of lanterns and fireworks that were once unimaginable, the messages that come with these glows and explosions are also gratifying to the soul.

For a different itinerary, Taiwan offers equally exhilarating options such as the Miaokau Night Market, situated in the heart of Taipei, the country’s most famous night market for local delicacies and other interesting finds. The National Palace Museum and the Longshan Temple are also favorite destinations when it comes to cultural immersions.

Old meets new in Lunar China

In Beijing, China, young flying acrobats, professional orchestra singers, musicians, and alluring dancers exhibiting traditional performances, are among the headliners of a different way of celebrating the New Year - China’s Lunar New Year Gala Night. In this highly-publicized showcase, millions of people witness various glamorized acts through a variety show broadcasted worldwide.

However, despite its “unconventional” platform, the Gala still speaks of tradition. It is also a celebration of China’s rich cultural history, promoting an appreciation of what has gone and the hopeful anticipation for a prosperous year to come.

Apart from the Gala, a trip to China is not complete without a few other stops. The Great Wall of China and the Forbidden City are destinations for the history junkie, while heading to the Panjiayuan Antique Market is a treat for the artifact aficionado. To complete the trip, travelers must get a hold of a lot of roast duck and catch a Kung Fu show in town.

This Chinese New Year, explore and discover the different experiences that only Hong Kong, Taiwan, and China can offer, only with Cebu Pacific.

World'sTop Male Model Returns in 'Zoolander 2'

Blue Steel. Le Tigre. Magnum… looks powerful enough to halt a Chinese throwing star mid-air and thwart the plans of an evil mastermind’s global takeover. There is only one male model and one male model alone who is capable of conjuring such beauty and power with a pout… Derek Zoolander.
And now, he's back in Paramount Pictures' eagerly anticipated comedy sequel, “Zoolander 2.”

When we last saw male models Derek (Ben Stiller) and Hansel (Owen Wilson), they were enjoying the wonders of the “Derek Zoolander Center for Kids Who Can’t Read Good And Wanna Learn To Do Other Stuff Good Too,” and Mugatu (Will Ferrell) was behind bars. An unforeseen catastrophe strikes the Center and forces the duo into seclusion, living off the grid. Fifteen age-defying years later we find a still shamed Derek and Hansel leading isolated, separate lives, shut-out from the rest of the world.

When each receives a special invitation to star in a major world fashion event in the ancient and mysterious city of Rome, they are unable to deny the allure of returning to their former glory and make their way back to civilization. Upon arrival, Derek and Hansel meet the bizarre and eccentric
designers that are behind the new fashion empire. The two rapidly realize the fashion world they once knew has drastically changed, thrusting them awkwardly and literally back into the spotlight.

While they struggle to find relevance in this strange new world of blogging, vlogging, and anti-fashion fashion, they are recruited to help stop a calculated and deadly plot that if not stopped, would destroy forever the hopes for fashion to return to its revered and glorious status. Only Derek and Hansel have the power to SAVE FASHION.

The road to Derek and Hansel’s return to the big screen was long and winding, spanning 15 years and several incarnations. “This movie has been a long time in the making,” explains writer/director/star Ben Stiller. “We probably would have made a sequel the year after the movie came out, but nobody came to see the first one in the theater really, so no one wanted it,” Stiller said with a laugh.

Released in September of 2001, a harrowing time as a result of 9/11, the original film under-whelmed at the box-office. However, the film found legions of new fans with the release of the DVD, and gradually grew to cult classic status. “The movie became something that got passed around and felt
like an underground studio movie, almost like finding vintage vinyl. Audiences got to feel like it was their own special discovery and had ownership of it
,” says Justin Theroux, who appeared in the film and serves as writer on the sequel.

The characters and absurd catch phrases from the film connected with audiences and became a part of the shared cultural collective. With the birth of social media and its many platforms, catch phrases became hashtags and jokes were shared and re-created across the globe. “Over the years I’ve always been surprised by the cult following wherever I go, whether it’s Europe, Mexico or South America. People will come up to me and ask me to do Blue Steel, which isn’t even my character,” laughs Owen Wilson. “Comedies don’t always translate cross-culturally, but the characters of Derek and Hansel have a level of ridiculousness I think people appreciate,” he adds.

Prospects for a sequel were put into motion at various points over the next 15 years, during which Stiller worked with many revered comedy writers including original collaborator John Hamburg, writer/director Nicholas Stoller, and Stiller’s collaborator on “Tropic Thunder,” Justin Theroux.
After a while I was convinced we’d never do it. But somehow, at a certain point all the elements started to come together and it was like ‘All right we’re actually going to do this,’” recalls Stiller.

The long-gestation process for a Zoolander follow-up offered Stiller and his creative team the opportunity to develop the story and characters in such a way that would honor the spirit of what audiences connected with in the first place. Stiller relates, “We wanted to make a movie that would try to live up to the first one and the expectations of people who loved it. I feel very fortunate that there are people that loved the movie that much and I didn’t want to let them down.”

Opening across the Philippines on Feb. 24, 2016, “Zoolander 2” is distributed by United International Pictures through Columbia Pictures.

Perkins Twins Jesse and Christian Release 'Can't Stop' Album under Universal Records

Inspired by their diverse musical influences, from the Beach Boys to Justin Timberlake, Filipino-American pop twin brothers Jesse and Christian Perkins better known as the Perkins Twins release new album under Universal Records. The album is titled "Can't Stop" and is now available in stores nationwide.

As to the album title, Jesse explains “We chose ‘Can't Stop’ because the term is a universal expression. ‘Can't Stop’ is a love story for our fans who we are forever grateful for and we can’t stop thanking them all. ‘Can't Stop’ also reflects the concept of never quitting and always putting your best forward through hard work in everything we do”.

The first single "Can't Stop" was one of the first songs the twins wrote on the record. When asked to describe the songwriting, Christian recalls, “We wanted to write something that young people can really relate to. We tried to capture the feeling of how it feels to be in love and the joy that almost supernaturally comes along with it. When you're in love, you can't stop thinking about that special someone, and that's what the song is about. There is a subliminal message there for the love of Jesus as well.”

In the music video, Christian and Jesse was joined by the beautiful Claudia Baretto in a story of young adults discovering one’s true love. “Making our first music video was an awesome experience. We were allowed to create the concept for the story line. We wanted a fresh looking female lead in the video and we were blessed to have Claudia Baretto join us. She was a pleasure to work with” Jesse said.

With sumptuous intertwining harmonies, the duo underscores five of their original compositions and one Tagalog song written by Kiko Salazar.  “Kung Aamin,” the only Tagalog song in the album was described by the twin pop act as ‘very emotional’ and ‘soulful.’ Jesse also adds, “We love singing Tagalog songs! What’s bizarre is that we sing Tagalog quite naturally; probably more naturally than when we actually speak Tagalog.

Despite getting their start just over a year, their pop tunes are fresh and connected. The brothers first broke through into mainstream in 2015 when they released their debut album with original Tagalog songs by Vehnee Saturno. Soon after, they were signed with Universal Records and released the twin’s new album produced by Ito Rapadas.

We wanted to write songs that are positive and also songs that young people can relate to. They reflect experiences, either directly or those we have experienced vicariously through our friends and family,” Jesse further shared.

Born in the Philippines and raised in California, these young lads prove that there is no rule book that needs to be followed when it comes down to success. “We loved music growing up in California. Our family always sang in the house and in the car.  We sang in the church choir when we were younger.  But we never performed in public nor considered singing as a career and we were discovered as singers quite by accident,” Jesse recalled.

Be sure to follow PerkinsTwins on Facebook; @PerkinsTwins on Twitter and pick up Perkins Twins’ “Can’t Stop” album at any leading music stores nationwide.

“Can’t Stop” is now available for download on iTunes, Amazon & Spinnr and song preview on Deezer.

The Incredible Story of Courage and Human Spirit Feature in Movie Adaptation of the Book 'The Finest Hours'

The Incredible Story of Courage and Human Spirit Feature in Movie Adaptation of the Book 'The Finest Hours'

While Disney Pictures’ action-adventure “The Finest Hours” is packed with thrilling, larger-than-life action sequences, it is anchored by the prevailing theme that resonates throughout the story—the strength of the human spirit.

These young men knew exactly what they were getting into when they climbed into that tiny lifeboat,” says producer Dorothy Aufiero (“The Fighter”). “They had the courage to go out there and put others’ safety first and do something incredible, and I find that truly inspirational.”

A heroic action-thriller, Disney's “The Finest Hours” is based on the extraordinary true story of the greatest small boat rescue in Coast Guard history in the U.S. Presented in Digital 3D, the film transports audiences to the heart of the action, creating a fully-immersive cinematic experience on an epic scale.

Directed by Craig Gillespie, “The Finest Hours” stars Chris Pine, Academy Award®-nominee Casey Affleck, Ben Foster, Holliday Grainger, John Ortiz and Eric Bana.

When the Boston-based Aufiero first read The Finest Hours, the book by Casey Sherman and Michael J. Tougias that documented the incredible tale of the Coast Guard’s attempts to rescue survivors from two T2 oil tankers, she was shocked she had never heard about it before. While the SS Pendleton rescue was front-page news at the time, not everyone today is familiar with the story, including families of the men who were part of the rescue itself. “These guys just didn’t talk about it because to them, it was their job,” she explains.

Aufiero brought the project to producer Jim Whitaker (“Cinderella Man”), who felt an immediate connection to the story. “I was born in Maryland but moved to Nova Scotia when I was 12 and my family lived in an eastern maritime town similar to Chatham, so I related to the story on a personal level,” he says. “I knew about the Coast Guard and about the lives of people who made their living on the water and always knew I wanted to tell a story about the people that I grew up with.

They agreed that recreating the gallant efforts of these young men on the big screen was the perfect way to immortalize their story and put together a story treatment and sizzle reel incorporating vintage photos and archival footage of the actual events, which they brought to Disney. The studio has released many successful films based on true stories over the years (“Cool Runnings,” “Dangerous Minds,” “Invincible,” “Miracle” and “A Civil Action,” among others) and green-lit the project that same day.

Oscar® nominees Scott Silver (“8 Mile”) and Paul Tamasy & Eric Johnson (“The Fighter”) completed a screenplay based on Sherman and Tougias’ book. While the book tells the story of both tankers that split that fateful night, the screenplay focuses primarily on the Pendleton rescue and its two stories: the men on the tanker trying to survive on the outside chance that someone might come to find them, and the four young men who set out to rescue them.

Like Aufiero, Craig Gillespie was unfamiliar with the story when first sent the script, but he read it immediately, followed by the book, and was soon on board to direct. “I really enjoyed how very true the writers stayed to the events and the timeline of when things occurred, which is almost unfathomable considering all that was going on out there in the ocean,” he says. “Yes, it’s the story of the greatest small-boat rescue in Coast Guard history, but it also has all these great characters who really were unsung heroes. There was a sense of purity to that generation of men in that they often put others before themselves, and that’s what makes them so heroic.”

Opening across the Philippines on March 02, “The Finest Hours” is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International through Columbia Pictures. 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' Characters Unmasked

'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' Characters Unmasked

The official descriptions for the characters in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” have been released by Warner Bros. Pictures, giving fans a peek at how the iconic personages will clash and the stories play out.

Superman/ Clark Kent. An orphan from the planet Krypton, forever an alien on his adopted home, Earth, Superman has become the world’s most powerful and iconic Super Hero. Despite unwavering morals and a deep respect for mankind, or his higher calling to truth and justice, it’s his superhuman abilities—flight, strength, speed, X-ray and heat vision—which nevertheless guarantee that, while he may endeavor to save us, he will never truly be one of us.

As Metropolis reporter Clark Kent, Superman tracks the world’s crises from the perfect vantage point: at the center of the global news organization The Daily Planet.

Batman/ Bruce Wayne. Driven by the haunting vision of his parents’ brutal slaying, the orphaned young billionaire Bruce Wayne devoted his life to becoming the world’s greatest weapon against crime: Batman. The ultimate vigilante, this Dark Knight’s mastery of physical strength and intellectual superiority fuel his relentless pursuit of justice against the greatest evils in Gotham City, and beyond.

To throw his enemies off the scent of his secret identity as Batman, Bruce Wayne plays the public part of a billionaire playboy that oversees Wayne Industries while indulging in the finer things in life.

Alfred. Before he was the man behind the Batman, the imperturbable Wayne family butler Alfred Pennyworth raised the orphaned Bruce Wayne following the murder of his parents. Now he performs the dual role of minding what’s left of the Wayne estate while aiding Bruce in his vigilante work as Batman where he puts his Special Forces background to use. But it’s Alfred’s dry sarcasm and biting insight that ground both the man and the Batman, and his many skills - ranging from cutting-edge technologies to combat medicine - that make him the Dark Knight’s staunchest ally.

Lois Lane. A fearless and forthright Pulitzer Prizing-winning journalist reporting for Metropolis’s Daily Planet, Lois Lane repeatedly risks life and limb to get her story - all while keeping the story of a lifetime to herself: the identity of Superman. Just as he strives to protect life and liberty for mankind, Lois vows to expose the world’s truths through her words, making it a safer place through knowledge and understanding. And it’s Lois’s love for Superman, and his for her, that provide him his greatest connection to humanity.

Wonder Woman/ Diana Prince. The world’s first and foremost female Super Hero, Wonder Woman at once embodies the unrivaled force and supreme grace of a born warrior, and the genuine compassion and understanding of a true humanitarian. As a symbol of equality, power and truth, her natural confidence and unmistakable intelligence make her an unequalled, if unexpected, ally.

The immortal Amazonian Princess Diana keeps her eyes and ears open for intrigue as the beautiful and mysterious antiquities dealer, Diana Prince.

Lex Luthor. Bearing the deadly combination of a brilliant mind and an unharnessed ego, Lex Luthor has set his sights on the one he views as the only real threat to his own power: Superman. While not a physical match for the Man of Steel, Luthor is his intellectual superior, and perceives the alien being as the greatest risk to - rather than a purported savior of - mankind. With the full force of his multinational company LexCorp’s resources behind him, he will stop at nothing to prevent Superman’s interference in his plans, or to eradicate the icon’s standing among mankind in the process.

From director Zack Snyder comes “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” starring Oscar winner Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne and Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent in the characters’ first big-screen pairing.

Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.

Directed by Zack Snyder, the film also stars Oscar nominees Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, and Laurence Fishburne as Perry White; Oscar winners Jeremy Irons as Alfred, and Holly Hunter as Senator Finch; and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince.

Opening across the Philippines in 3D, 2D, IMAX 3D and 4DX theaters on Black Saturday, March 26, “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” is distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.
