JaDine and Paulo Avelino Arrive in California, USA for 'On The Wings of Love Certified Kapamilya Fans Day'

JaDine and Paulo Avelino Arrive in California, USA for 'On The Wings of Love Certified Kapamilya Fans Day'

It was an original Filipino teleserye starring budding young stars that launched on August 10, 2015 and surprised many when it shot up like a shooting star to the top five of national TV ratings in the Philippines and has consistently stayed there since then. It has produced a breakthrough love team that has become a global phenomenon with a fan following that cuts across age, gender, geographies and socio-economic strata.

Come this Sunday, January 10, ABS-CBN International’s The Filipino Channel (TFC) — a global brand that offers, among others, the world’s most widely distributed premium and on demand channel showing Filipino content on multiple platforms — is bringing a live experience of the magic behind this sensational romantic comedy with “On The Wings Of Love Certified Kapamilya Fans Day” at the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium, a site listed on the National Historic Register of the U.S. and one of the most beloved buildings in California.

OTWOL, as the teleserye is called by fans, is a story that started here in Northern California, so it’s just fitting to kick off what will become a global tour this 2016 in the area where the story began,” said Ricky Resurreccion, ABS-CBN North America head of Ad Sales, Trade Marketing and Events.

The Making of a True Fans Day

TFC left no stone unturned in preparing for a true fans day with loads of activities for attendees (for a full experience on event day, download and open the TFC Live App, Kapamilya.com/tfclive). In fact, fans will get a chance to share the same stage as the cast during the main show (visit http://www.tfc-usa.com/OTWOL/)

Bringing in the phenomenal love team of James Reid (Clark) and Nadine Lustre (Leah), TFC raised the cast temperature a notch by including the popular character of Sir Simon played by acclaimed actor Paulo Avelino, and the soaring voice behind the theme song, Kyla, who celebrated her 15th anniversary in showbiz last November.

Resurreccion clearly explained what “On The Wings Of Love Certified Kapamilya Fans Day” is on a recent Instagram post:

Pre #OTWOLFansDayFans’ Day! Learning about 2 major fan-initiated activities (as I’m sure there are others) are planned for Saturday the 9th really warmed up my cold heart. This is personally my vision of a TFC Fans Day - organic, fan-initiated activities happening alongside what we have already officially planned.
Whenever TFC mounts an event, it’s never about making a quick buck or providing you with mindless entertainment or meaningless engagements with the stars. We believe in putting sound rationale behind every activity and strengthening the community in whatever we do.

Kudos to our friends from@bayareaotwolistas and @jadinesunitedfor spearheading these activities. I’m pretty sure you will be creating memorable moments with @wljdunitedstates, @jadine_internationalofc, @jadine_internationalsd, @jadine.sd, @jadine_sf, @reidersglobies, @jadinetroop, @reidiks, @kehrbears, @jamesreidworld, @nadzworld, @jadine_thunder, @jadinelovess, @otwolstills, @jadinefied and thousands of other fans all over the world invested in this event. Sana invited ang TFC sa mga activities niyo! Haha!

Aside from the stars and our staff, the fans are an integral part in every success of a TFC event, anywhere in the world. Kaya ako #FanOfFans, eh. I hope to see and know as many of you this weekend!

'Imbestigador' Reverts To It's Action-Pack Bad-Busting Brand of Public Service Beginning January 9

'Imbestigador' Reverts To It's Action-Pack Bad-Busting Brand of Public Service Beginning January 9

Hindi namin kayo tatantanan”. This battle cry has been known and associated with one television program: Imbestigador.

Fifteen years ago, GMA News and Public Affairs launched Imbestigador, a public service program whose mission is to be the go-to place of vigilant citizens and be the public's defense against injustices. Hosted by GMA News pillar and seasoned broadcast journalist Mike Enriquez, Imbestigador took investigative reporting to the next level by giving voice to the oppressed and righting wrongs for the ordinary people. In essence, it has not only aired grievances but provided concrete solutions to the victims of injustices of numerous ills in society – from anomalies and corruption to unscrupulous activities and various other crimes. Imbestigador also broke new ground on television when it pioneered using actual footage of gripping surveillance operations in the pursuit of its stories.

Imbestigador did not fail. It made true to its promise. With the help of different agencies and offices, unscrupulous individuals were arrested, prosecuted and put behind bars. Big-time syndicates were busted; illegal and detrimental establishments were closed down and victims were rescued and kept out of harm’s way.

As the program begins its 15th year, Imbestigador, now the country’s longest-running investigative program and one of GMA News and Public Affairs flagship programs, strengthens the public service brand that it has long been known for - to go after those who break the law and those who believe they are above the law.

To heed public clamor, beginning January 9, Imbestigador reverts to its action-packed episodes by doing stories based from complaints of the public and bringing justice against guilty parties.  Week after week, Imbestigador will attempt to do exposes tackling a wide range of stories dealing with illegal and unscrupulous activities as it has been known for.

For the upcoming episode, Imbestigador will give the full story behind its exclusive operation of an online pornography operating in Cebu. Coincidentally, in its desire to tackle the biggest issues that matter, Imbestigador also launches its special election segments titled “Isyu ni Juan”. “Isyu ni Juan” is a ten-part special election series which goes beyond personalities but tackles key issues that confront the Filipinos.

The special election series also intends to present and examine the respective campaign platforms and specific plans of the presidential aspirants in addressing specific issues. Imbestigador host Mike Enriquez snatched exclusive one-on-one interviews of all the leading presidential hopefuls for this important election series.

Don't miss Imbestigador this Saturday, January 9, 5:15pm after CelebriTV on GMA!

Ai Ai delas Alas Calls Beauty and the Bestie Producer 'Mandaraya'

AiAi delas Alas has cast doubt on Star Cinema's claims that "Beauty and the Bestie" has beaten "My Bebe Love: #Kiligpamore" in the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) box-office ranking.

"Kahit yung No. 3, pwede din sabihin na No. 1 din sila eh," delas Alas said Monday evening (Tuesday in Manila) in a press conference announcing the screening of "My Bebe Love" in 15 cities in California and Texas starting on Jan. 8.

"In our hearts, sa puso ng Aldub Nation, sa puso ng sambayanang Pilipino, No. 1 kami, kasi lahat ng ginagawa namin walang daya.

"Ayaw ni Lord ang nangdadaya. Karma is a bitch," she added, eliciting laughs from the crowd.

A Star Cinema spokesperson has claimed that its MMFF entry "Beauty and the Bestie" snagged the top spot as the festival entered its second week.

Comedian Vice Ganda, who co-stars with Coco Martin in the movie, tweeted: "300Million THANKS to you Madlang People for making us number 1 in your hearts.

Delas Alas, Vic Sotto and the loveteam of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza, more popularly known as Yaya Dub, lead the cast of "My Bebe Love." The movie was No. 1 on opening day, grossing a record-breaking P60.5 million.

Delas Alas made the statement in the wake of reports of ticket-swapping that could affect numbers that determine box-office ranking.

Delas Alas said people very close to her have personally witnessed ticket-swapping.

"My Bebe Love" Director Joey Javier Reyes was the first to publicly confirm reports that tickets for the movie were swapped with tickets for "Beauty and the Bestie."

"Got word from producer: IT IS TRUE. Make sure that the title of the movie on YOUR ticket is what you want to watch. Beware of ticket swapping," Reyes tweeted recently.

"My Bebe Love" nearly reached the P300 million mark on Jan. 2, according to GMA Films President Annette Gozon-Abrogar. The movie was produced by Antonio P Tuviera Entertainment, a subsidiary of Television And Production Exponents (TAPE) Philippines, Inc., a partner of GMA network.

"Beauty and the Bestie" was produced by Star Cinema, which is under GMA's rival network ABS-CBN.

"Kahit ano pa ang sabihin nila, ilalaban ko ng patayan, itataga ko sa bato, kami po ang No. 1," said De las Alas, who was in town to also visit two of her children who live in Los Angeles.

In Southern California, "My Bebe Love" will be shown at the Southbay Pavillion 13 in Carson, Orange Stadium Promenade 25 in Orange and River Park 15 in Oxnard, according to Jemilynne Aguirre of SG Productions, one of the local event producers. Source: GMA News

Sandra Bullock Plots Winning Strategy for Bolivian Presidential Candidate in 'Our Brand is Crisis'

Sandra Bullock Plots Winning Strategy for Bolivian Presidential Candidate in 'Our Brand is Crisis'

Oscar-winner Sandra Bullock stars in Warner Bros. Pictures' “Our Brand is Crisis” as political strategist Jane Bodine, once considered among the best in the business, who has lately retreated from the political spotlight.

In “Our Brand is Crisis,” a Bolivian presidential candidate failing badly in the polls enlists the firepower of an elite American management team, led by the deeply damaged but still brilliant strategist “Calamity” Jane Bodine. In self-imposed retirement following a scandal that rocked her to her core, Jane is coaxed back into the game for the chance to beat her professional nemesis, the loathsome Pat Candy (Billy Bob Thornton), now coaching the opposition.

Bullock explains of her role, “When we first meet Jane, she’s had to remove herself from the world in which she’d spent most of her life, for the sake of survival. She was brilliant at her job. But it became an addiction to her, and what it turned her into and the mindset it required became dangerous. Jane is fragile. She has some instability issues, some addiction issues. And clearly all of that was exacerbated when she was in that world, so she just had to stop.”

The thing I loved about this role was that there didn’t seem to be any rules or boundaries, whether emotionally or in the tone,” Bullock continues. “And that was indicative of the whole story, which, I feel really represents life in that there’s no such thing as all drama or all laughs in day-to-day events. Even serious stories can have painfully funny elements and you can find drama and tragedy in funny moments, and I was drawn to this character and this film because of those complexities.”

Jane feels her life is being navigated by other people,” says director David Gordon Green. “We meet her at a vulnerable moment where she’s stepped away from the industry that has brought her so much success, and is then summoned back into action like a legendary gunslinger. She feels misguided in this impressive skill set she has, and that she’s not really proud of anymore, and is trying to figure out how to use it in a way that’s more meaningful. So it’s a journey in which Jane is testing her ethics and her motivations even while forging ahead to get a man she barely knows elected president.

Interestingly, producer Grant Heslov reveals that in the script’s earliest incarnation, as they were still developing the project, the part of the lead strategist was male. After Bullock read it and noted what a great role it could be for a woman, they took another look: “We thought that was a good idea,” he recalls. “So we went to the writer, Peter Straughan, and said let’s change it, let’s make this character a woman and see how that works. And we really liked it.”

Apart from fleshing out some minor details and subtleties, the transformation proved relatively effortless, as the conflicts and aspirations Jane reflects are universal. Recalls Bullock, “I didn’t want the character to change, or her being a woman to alter the main story points or connections.”

While fictional in both its characters and story, “Our Brand is Crisis” was inspired by true events depicted in the 2005 documentary of the same name from writer/director Rachel Boynton, which chronicles the real-life presidential campaign of Bolivia’s Gonzalo Sanchez de Lozada. “It was inspiring on every level,” notes Bullock, “but we had to let it go and create our own story.”

Opening across the Philippines on January 13, 2016, “Our Brand is Crisis” is distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.
