Jericho Rosales, Paulo Avelino and Maja Salvador's Most Kept Secrets Unfold

Jericho Rosales, Paulo Avelino and Maja Salvador's Most Kept Secrets Unfold

The ultimate fight for love between brothers Carlos (Paulo Avelino) and Gael (Jericho Rosales) begins as the story like no other brought to viewers every weeknight by primetime series “Bridges of Love” enters its final three weeks.

After the sudden death of Muloy (Janus Del Prado) that caused Carlos and Mia’s (Maja Salvador) much-awaited wedding to be cancelled, the most kept secrets began to unfold one by one.

The biggest truth was finally revealed last night in an intense faceoff between Gael and Carlos where the latter blurted out who he really is to his unknowing brother. In the middle of a brawl between the two, Gael threatened to kill Carlos. Carlos fired back and told Gael that he had already done it before.

How will Gael accept the fact that his arch enemy is his long lost brother JR? Will Gael’s love for Mia still prevail or will he give way to his brother? Will Carlos ever forgive Gael for the hurt he caused him in the past?

Since “Bridges of Love” premiered on Philippine television in March 2015, viewers were instantly captivated by the story of brothers Carlos and Gael. From the start of their journey as kids when the two dreamt big together to the tragedy that set them apart, avid fans followed how the two grew up to be very different individuals and how their paths crossed many years later without any idea of who each other were. Things heated up even more when Mia entered the picture and sparked the rivalry for love between the two.

With the show’s well-written narrative and top-caliber production, “Bridges of Love” has been consistently dominating its timeslot in national TV ratings and is also one of the top five most watched programs in the country, according to Kantar Media. Last Friday (July 17), the show hits its all-time high  national TV rating of 26% versus rival program with only 11.2%.

Its viewership on air also translated online as the program continues to be among the top three most viewed programs on video-on-demand service iWantTV and the top trending topics on social media every night.

“Bridges of Love” is directed by Richard Somes and Will Fredo, and produced by Star Creatives, the makers of phenomenal hit dramas “Princess and I,” “Forevermore,” “The Legal Wife,” and “Pangako Sa’Yo.”

Don’t miss the last three weeks of “Bridges of Love,” after “Pangako Sa’Yo,” weeknights on ABS-CBN Primetime Bida. For exclusive updates, log on to Twitter.com/StarCreativesTV and Instagram.com/StarCreatives_TV.

Willie Revillame's GMA-7 Show "Wowowin" Airs Final Show on July 26

Despite its strong viewership, the show is reportedly airing its final episode on Sunday, July 26.

Sing and Dance to the Bee Gees Hits as "Saturday Night Fever" Makes its Final Runs on July 25 and 26

Sing and Dance to the Bee Gees Hits as "Saturday Night Fever" Makes its Final Runs on July 25 and 26

The 1970’s box office hit, Saturday Night Fever featuring the young and rising John Travolta and the Bee Gees’s greatest disco hits such as Night Fever, How Deep Is Your Love, You Should Be Dancing and Staying Alive, etc. literally took Manila by storm.  Today, Pinoys are back up on their feet again and dancing to the timeless Bee Gees music as Saturday Night Fever – The Musical, makes its run at the swank The Theatre of Solaire all the weekends of July 2015.

This 21st century reiteration of the disco phenomenon and tripping the light fantastic is produced by Atlantis Theatrical Entertainment Corp., Ten Bridges Media Corp., and the Robert Stigwood Organisation.  (Australian impresario and Bee Gees manager Stigwood co-produced the original movie.) Audience reactions and ticket sales so far indicate that the show not only hit the Pinoy’s soft spot for music but has got Pinoys shaking and boogieing once again. The much lauded production owes to the skill of the screen-to-stage adaptation by book writer Nan Knighton (in collaboration with choreographer Arlene Phillips, actor-singer Paul Nicholas, and Stigwood), and the brilliant direction of Bobby Garcia, as performed by the astonishing cast.

Saturday Night Fever – The Musical’s disco grandeur and urban grit-and-grime come hauntingly to life in the scenic design by David Gallo (Tony Award winner for The Drowsy Chaperone in 2006; he also designed Best Musicals Memphis and Thoroughly Modern Millie) and lighting by Paul Miller (whose Broadway credits as assistant, associate, or lighting designer include Titanic, The Producers, Sweeney Todd, and Legally Blonde).  Choreography is by Vince Pesce, native Brooklynite and frequent associate choreographer of Tony winner Kathleen Marshall (Anything Goes, The Pajama Game, Wonderful Town), lovingly recreates the unforgettable dance moves of the movie and the 1970’s era.

The lead role of Tony Manero, is vividly fleshed out by Brandon Rubendall acknowledged by the Robert Stigwood Organization itself to be one of the best Tony Maneros in all its previous productions of SNF. Rubendall’s female counterpart is Jenna Rubaii (who plays the steely ambitious and touchingly vulnerable, Manhattan wannabe Stephanie). The stellar  Filipino cast include the redoubtable Carla Guevara-Laforteza in a double role as the put-upon mother and the decidedly Donna Summer-esque disco diva, along with Jamie Wilson, Mikkie Bradshaw, Rafa Siguion-Reyna, among others.

As the show ends and after the rousing standing ovation, the audience – from MeGenerationals to Millenials – are more often than not, seen milling out at the lobby of the Theatre, waiting for the cast to come out and mingle with them (which they habitually do).

Many theatergoers have their photos taken beside the standee showing Rubendall doing the iconic Travolta pose immortalized in the theatre/ movie poster. When Rubendall emerges to frantic requests for selfies and autographs, eager fans then repeat the meme with him.  Teens, weaned on Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber, sing “More Than A Woman” and “Night Fever” on their way out into the night.

Iglesia Ni Cristo Family Feud and Hostage Crisis: How It All Begin

I was told by a very reliable source months before it all went out publicly that something so big and scandalous about the family behind the century old religious sect Iglesia Ni Cristo will shaken the strong belief of its members.

The source was so certain and detailed that he even mentioned the reason for the families fall-out, the personalities involved, the threats (which might caused the recent news about the hostage taking incident), the possible expulsion of some of the church's highest members. I even told my mom (a devoted INC member) about it but she didn't believe.

Secrets Behind the Success of ABS-CBN Programs Bared

Secrets Behind the Success of ABS-CBN Programs Bared

What is ABS-CBN’s secret formula behind its successful TV programs, which have recently logged record-high ratings that boost the network’s overall audience share?

ABS-CBN president and CEO Charo Santos-Concio attributes it to ABS-CBN’s content that affirms its viewers by paying tribute to Filipinos’ admirable qualities and values.

It’s never about us anymore. It’s about the inspiring nature of the Filipino,” said Santos-Concio during her keynote speech at the “Fifty Shades of Marketing” conference held at Sofitel Plaza Manila recently.

Top-rating programs “Be Careful With My Heart” and “Forevermore,” she said, were loved by viewers because they highlighted Filipino values and mirrored the true stories of Filipinos.

Santos-Concio said that one of things Filipinos treasure the most is the integrity of the family, which inspires them to persevere through hard times and cope with adversities. This was, besides ‘kilig,’ what made the now defunct morning show “Be Careful With My Heart” hugely successful.

To the Filipino, family is everything. They have the strength to rise in the morning because there’s a family they have to work hard for. They can take all physical and emotional punishment because there’s a family to heal their wounds. All successes and failures are always appreciated in the context of family,” she elaborated.

Santos-Concio also said “Forevermore,” a primetime top-rating series, highlighted the value of community in the fictional La Presa. “’Forevermore’ acknowledged the goodness of the Filipino as seen through ‘pakikipagkapwa-tao’ in a community,” she said.

Affirming the Filipino identity also makes ABS-CBN’s content “a source of inspiration and strength to recharge” one’s fighting spirit.

This is why Filipino viewers identify with the main characters in Kapamilya programs and Star Cinema films who endure painful experiences and fight back when they are mistreated, Santos-Concio said.

Almost half of the Philippine TV households tuned in to ABS-CBN last June, when it hit an average national audience share of 47%, a strong 15-point lead over GMA’s 32%, according to data from Kantar Media.

The most watched programs in the country are also produced by ABS-CBN, with “The Voice Kids,” “Pangako Sa ‘Yo,” “Pasion de Amor,” and “Nathaniel” reaching their all-time high ratings this July.

Aside from TV viewership, ABS-CBN programs also gained audiences among online and smartphone users in June as proven by the 74.6-million page views garnered by the video-on-demand and livestreaming service iWanTV for the month of June. Leading the most watched Kapamilya shows online are “Pangako Sa’yo” (4.2 million views), “Bridges of Love” (1.5 million views), “Pasion de Amor” (1.5 million views), “Oh My G” (1.2 million views), and “Gandang Gabi Vice” (866,777 views).

The Philippine Marketing Association organized the “Fifty Shades of Marketing,” headed by overall chairman, ABS-CBN chief digital officer Donald Lim.

Leila de Lima Orders Barring of Chris Brown's Departure from the Philippines

Internationally known singer Chris Brown was barred by airport authorities from leaving the Philippines on Wednesday, a day after his very successful concert at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The singer's plane, a Gulfstream G450 aircraft, was supposed to depart at 1PM from a private hangar near Terminal 4 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. However, he was advised by immigration and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines to secure clearance from the Department of Justice (DOJ).
Justice Secretary Leila de Lima confirmed that the DOJ had issued a lookout bulletin against the singer in relation to a complaint over the singer's canceled show at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan last New Year's Eve.
