Ipaglaban Mo Press Release

ABS-CBN hit legal drama anthology “Ipaglaban Mo” tackles concubinage this Saturday (December 13) with the story of Pablo (Joem Bascon), a man who left his wife to be with his former live-in partner.

Pablo had been with Rosa (Isabel Oli) for three years before he met his wife Nila (Denise Laurel). Despite Pablo’s irresponsible and dependent behavior, Rosa remained a submissive and loving partner to him. But Pablo seemed discontent with their relationship until he met Nila, a beautiful and smart woman who came from a wealthy family.

Unlike other girls, Nila was not easy to please, so courting him was a challenge for Pablo. Thinking that he would have a more comfortable life with Nila, Pablo immediately proposed a marriage to her and broke up with Rosa.

However, Pablo and Nila’s married life did not turn out well. After a month, Pablo decided to reconcile with Rosa. Rosa forgave and accepted him again not knowing that the man he loved was already married to another woman. Nila sued them for concubinage upon learning his husband’s infidelity. How did the court decide on the case?

Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla Walk Out During Fans Meet and Greet in Milan, Italy

Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla Walk Out During Fans Meet and Greet in Milan, Italy

Following the alleged walk-out of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla during a meet and greet session with fans in Milan, Italy on New Year's Day, Star Magic has released a statement vehemently refuting the reports.

All Star Magic artists go to great lengths to please and satisfy the various audiences and fans,” goes a part of the ABS-CBN's Talent Management’s statement.

A certain fan who reportedly traveled miles just to get a glimpse of the famous KathNiel loveteam,   posted its dismay on social media and accused the Teen King and Queen of walking out from their meet and greet.

Kris Aquino, on Wednesday's episode of Aquino & Abunda Tonight, read the full statement as released by Star Magic:

Meanwhile, KaDreamers Italy chapter defended the Kapamilya stars from the said issue. The fan group took to Twitter to explain what really happened. "First of all HINDI PO NAG WALK OUT ANG KATHNIEL, management & producers po ang nagdecide na itigil and naturang meet & greet dahil sa hindi pakikipagcooperate ng nanunuod at dahil na rin sa mga nakipila kahit hindi naman VVIP. dahil din sa mga pabalik balik o paulit ulit sa pila."

They also stressed that they were accommodated by KathNiel's team and Min Bernardo (Kathryn's mom) contrary to the ranting fan's accusation that they were taken for granted. "Masaya kaming nakita namin ulit ang KathNiel at hindi totoong nagtampo kami dahil di nakuha ang cake sa katunayan after the concert we celebrated its success and also tita Min's birthday in a pizza hauz dahil un ang kagustuhan ng lahat."

The fan group also belied the ranting fan's accusation that he is part of the fan group. "Please stop making false issues and involving our group. Wala po sa aming group ang nagra-rant."

Sarah Geronimo and Matteo Guidicelli's Break-up Predicted this 2015

Sarah Geronimo and Matteo Guidicelli's Break-up Predicted this 2015

While others are predicted to get lucky this Year of the Sheep, others are not. True love blooms to those who wish, wait for it. But other relationships are meant to end this 2015.

In the case of celebrity couple Sarah Geronimo and Matteo Guidicelli, who publicly and proudly express their admiration for each other, faith seems not to favor them this time.

In Salve Asis' report published in Philstar.com on Wednesday, the Popstar's relationship with actor/host, as predicted by a fortune teller named Madam Q, is about to end this year. To quote:

Computer Hacking "Blackhat" Arrives in Manila this January 21

Computer Hacking "Blackhat" Arrives in Manila this January 21

United International Pictures Press Release
Set within the world of global cybercrime, Universal Pictures and Legendary Pictures’ new thriller “Blackhat” follows a furloughed convict and his American and Chinese partners as they hunt a high-level cybercrime network from Chicago to Los Angeles to Hong Kong to Jakarta.

Directed and produced by Michael Mann, the film stars Chris Hemsworth, Viola Davis, Tang Wei and Wang Leehom, and it is written by Morgan Davis Foehl and Mann. Legendary’s Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni produce alongside Mann, while Alex Garcia and Eric McLeod serve as the executive producers.

“Blackhat” arrives in theaters on the heels of an intense media attention focused on the recent disastrous computer hack perpetrated on Sony Pictures, resembling an uncanny life-imitates-art timing.

Director Michael Mann suggests the premise of the film is an eminently plausible one, given the number of high-profile former hackers who now work as government or private-sector consultants.

As Mann and co-screenwriter Morgan Davis Foehl researched the subject further, the director became fascinated by “the degree of how porous and vulnerable everything is” - the idea that a hacker could, with the right lines of code, burrow deep into the realms of corporate patents, defense-industry secrets and other intellectual property.

We live in what we think is a compartmentalized world in which there is something called privacy,” Mann explains. “A better analogy is that we’re living in a house where all the doors and windows are open and we’re in a very dangerous neighborhood, but we don’t know it.”

The idea for the film was inspired by Stuxnet, the computer worm that was identified in 2010, after it had struck an Iranian nuclear facility. “Blackhat,” the term for a vicious hacker (“white hat” is a good guy), starts with a malware attack on a Chinese nuclear reactor. Wang Leehom plays the M.I.T.-trained Chinese military official tasked with finding the culprit; Chris Hemsworth plays his old programming-whiz college roommate, now incarcerated, whose prison sentence is commuted in exchange for helping solve the puzzle.

When he was first starting to work on “Blackhat” in 2011, Mann encountered a number of experts who were frustrated by their inability to convince multinational corporations and defense contractors to increase their digital security protocols. “Now it’s out in the open and it’s very apparent,” he says. “There’s no such thing as an electronic iron curtain. There’s no security consultant who’s going to show up and say, ‘Your home is completely secure. You have nothing to worry about.’ That’s not going to happen.”

Mann notes that the real-life hackers described the thrill of writing and executing computer code as “a kind of opiated positive feedback loop,” a zoning-out during which hours would seem to tick by in a matter of minutes. “Also, there’s the ability to manipulate something as abstract as code while causing a kinetic effect in the real, physical world,” he adds. “I understand the appeal to a hacker of that.

Opening across the Philippines on January 21, “Blackhat” is distributed by United International Pictures through Columbia Pictures.

Local Airlines Offer Lowest Airfares Deal This Week, Book Your Flights Now!

Local Airlines Offer Lowest Airfares Deal This Week, Book Your Flights Now!

Local airlines are set to offer lowest airfares deal starting this weekend following the lifting of fuel surcharges on domestic and international flights.

The Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) has issued Resolution No. 79 (BM 10-12-22-2014) which lifts the authority of domestic and foreign airlines to impose fuel surcharge on their flights.

“With the substantial and continuous decrease of fuel prices in the world market, the Board has deemed it appropriate to compel airlines to discontinue their imposition of fuel surcharge,” CAB said in the resolution.

CAB executive director Carmelo Arcilla said airline passengers can expect lower airfares starting the end of the week with the lifting of the fuel surcharge.

The surcharge, which is based on flight distance, ranges from P200 to P500 for domestic flights and can amount to P15,000 for international destinations. Fuel cost accounts for more than half of airlines’ total operating costs.

Airlines were given the authority to impose the surcharge to recover fuel costs and losses driven by adjustments in fuel prices.

However, surcharge may be reduced or removed depending on jet fuel prices in the global market because it is not part of the basic fare.

According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), jet fuel prices went down by 42 percent to $75 per barrel as of December 26.

Department of Transportation and Communications undersecretaries Jose Perpetuo Lotilla and Benito Bengzon Jr., Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines director general William Hotchkiss III, and former Clark International Airport Corp. president Victor Jose Luciano signed the resolution.

Fairytale Couple Anna Kendrick and Chris Pine in Fantasy Adventure Movie “Into the Woods”

Fairytale Couple Anna Kendrick and Chris Pine in Fantasy Adventure Movie “Into the Woods”

Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International Press Release
Two of today's most appealing actors – Anna Kendrick and Chris Pine – star as Cinderella and the Prince, respectively, in Walt Disney Pictures' new fantasy adventure “Into the Woods.”

In the film, the character of Cinderella, who wishes to go to the King’s Festival, is more modern, complicated and flawed than the iconic character with whom audiences are most familiar. Anna Kendrick, whose credits include “Pitch Perfect” and “Up in the Air” and who was cast as Cinderella, was attracted to the role because she is different from the archetypal portrayal of the fairy tale persona.

What is unique is that this ‘Cinderella’ story comes directly from the Grimm version where the tree at the grave of her Mother gifts her the dress and shoes that she wears to the Festival,” she says, “So in some ways she has access to a kind of magic when she really needs it.

Kendrick continues, “What happens after she marries the Prince is where it gets interesting: Cinderella really starts to find her voice and rejects what she thought she wanted, which also means admitting she made a mistake. She is not a blameless victim though; she has to own the fact that she wanted something so badly without really thinking about what it was she really needed.”

In discussing how he envisioned the part, director Rob Marshall says, “I was looking for something very specific, which was a combination of humor, a strong voice and a modern sensibility. In many ways, Cinderella is the most complex character in the piece because she can’t make a decision, constantly wavering about what she wants, and Anna showed a great deal of vulnerability and depth, which was incredibly impressive.”

For the role of Cinderella’s Prince, who longs to find a bride, Chris Pine was cast. The actor, who is perhaps best-known to audiences as Capt. James T. Kirk from “Star Trek,” describes his character by saying, “The Prince is one of those characters that we all think we know, but in truth we don’t really know all that much about him.

He continues, “One of my favorite lines in the script is when Cinderella tells him that he needs to step up to the plate and be a good King and his response is, ‘I was raised to be charming, not sincere,’ which basically sums up who he is.”

When screenwriter James Lapine wrote the part, he intended for the Prince to be the run-of-the-mill storybook character. “He has been raised to be a Prince, and that is all he knows…vulnerability is not part of his nature because he’s so used to getting everything he wants,” Lapine explains. “So to finally be rejected opens him up to his vulnerability and takes him from being a fairytale character to a more human scale.”

When Pine first came in to read for the part, Marshall had no idea as to his full range as an actor. “I didn’t know he could sing, I didn’t know he was funny, I didn’t know any of that,” he says. “I just knew he was a wonderful actor, extremely smart and an incredibly handsome man. And I quickly found out that he could do all of those things, and more.

Kendrick was pleasantly surprised to see what a gifted comedian Pine was. “He is obviously very charming and handsome, but I loved that heplayed the Prince with such clever humor,” she says. “He may be momentarily thrown when things go awry, but then he just immediately launches back into the affected Prince voice and mannerisms, and it is very funny.

“Into the Woods” is a modern twist on the beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales, intertwining the plots of a few choice stories and exploring the consequences of the characters’ wishes and quests. This humorous and heartfelt musical follows the classic tales of Cinderella (Anna Kendrick), Little Red Riding Hood (Lilla Crawford), Jack and the Beanstalk (Daniel Huttlestone), and Rapunzel (MacKenzie Mauzy)—all tied together by an original story involving a baker and his wife (James Corden & Emily Blunt), their wish to begin a family and their interaction with the witch (Meryl Streep) who has put a curse on them.

Opening across the Philippines on January 28, 2015, “Into the Woods” is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International through Columbia Pictures.

AirAsia Flight Attendant Sends "I Love You" Message to Boyfriend Before Plane Crash

AirAsia Flight Attendant Sends "I Love You" Message to Boyfriend Before Plane Crash

This story, I bet, will surely break your heart (unless you don't have it).

Death is something no one of sound mind would ever want to wish. It's a harrowing event especially if the cause of demise is tragic, too sudden and unexpected.

In the case of Khairunnisa Haidar Kauzi, a 22-year old flight attendant of AirAsia Flight QZ8501 who was about to meet with her family days after that disastrous plane crash, was able to send "I love you" message to his boyfriend before she was found floating, lifeless at Java Sea.

Written in violet ink on a piece of napkin was "I Love You From 38000 ft." said to be her message for her boyfriend named Divo. It wasn't clear though if the note was written before the tragedy or in the same flight QZ8501.

Khairunnisa (or Nisa to her friends and families) is a former Law student who dreamt of becoming a flight stewardess eversince she was a child. She was able to fulfill her dream when she was accepted in the Malaysian-owned airline.

Quvenzhané Wallis, The Youngest Oscar Best Actress Nominee Stars as "Annie"

Quvenzhané Wallis, The Youngest Oscar Best Actress Nominee Stars as "Annie"

Columbia Pictures Press Release

The youngest person ever nominated for a Best Actress Oscar, Quvenzhané Wallis (“Beasts of the Southern Wild”) stars as Annie, a young, happy foster kid who's also tough enough to make her way on the streets of New York in 2014. Originally left by her parents as a baby with the promise that they'd be back for her someday, it's been a hard knock life ever since with her mean foster mom Miss Hannigan (Cameron Diaz). But everything's about to change when the hard-nosed tycoon and New York mayoral candidate Will Stacks (Jamie Foxx) - advised by his brilliant VP, Grace (Rose Byrne) and his shrewd and scheming campaign advisor, Guy (Bobby Cannavale) - makes a thinly-veiled campaign move and takes her in. Stacks believes he's her guardian angel, but Annie's self-assured nature and bright, sun-will-come-out-tomorrow outlook on life just might mean it's the other way around.

"What is cool about Annie is that she teaches the adults what matters in life," says Wallis of the plucky heroine. "I think all kids feel like we have something to teach grownups."

Wallis says she's a fan of the original movie. "It's my favorite," she says. "I like to sing and dance along with it. So I love that I got to sing and dance in the movie for real this time."

"Annie is very kind and serious, and worries about the other girls - she makes sure they're okay," says Wallis. "She just has a dream of finding her parents. That's the number one thing on her list. Miss Hannigan is always in her way, but she also has the other four girls by her side."

Of course, Wallis formed a special bond with those four other girls. "I felt like I had four sisters on the set," she says. "They were so fun - I made such good friends. And also Cameron Diaz - she's so nice in real life. Miss Hannigan is supposed to be mean, but not Cameron!"

A Broadway classic that has delighted audiences for generations comes to the big screen with a new, contemporary vision in Columbia Pictures’ comedy “Annie.” Director/Producer/Screenwriter Will Gluck teams with producers James Lassiter, Jada Pinkett Smith & Will Smith, Caleeb Pinkett, and Shawn “JAY Z” Carter, Laurence “Jay” Brown, and Tyran “Ty Ty” Smith with a modern telling that captures the magic of the classic characters and original show that won seven Tony Awards. Celia Costas and Alicia Emmrich serve as Executive Producers. The screenplay is by Will Gluck and Aline Brosh McKenna, based on the musical stage play “Annie,” book by Thomas Meehan, music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin, and on “Little Orphan Annie,” © and ® Tribune Content Agency, LLC.

Opening across the Philippines on January 21, 2015, “Annie” is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International.
