Kevin Alas Strongly Denied Relationship with Vice Ganda, Revealed Vice Offered Kim Lo a Trip Abroad

Kevin Alas Strongly Denied Relationship with Vice Ganda, Revealed Vice Offered Kim Lo a Trip Abroad

The camp of PBA star Kevin Lo vehemently denied the cager's romantic connection with Vice Ganda, moreso, a sexual relationship with the blockbuster comedy star.

"Kevin swears, never syang nahawakan man lang ni Vice. Alam mo kung sinong in-offeran ni Vice na ipapasyal sa ibang bansa? ‘Yung kagi-guest lang na player ng UST, si Kim Lo. Siyempre, rejected ang lola mo. Yaman-yamanang full-blooded Chinese kasi si Kim Lo eh." someone close to Kevin clarified.

His friend also provided a copy of a text message sent by Kevin: "May group chat kasi kami yung tropa. Ako, Woody, Borgy, Garvo, Vice, Bernard, Dave, Marcelo. Nag-voice message kami tapos si Bimby ang sumasagot. Tapos yun niloloko ko si Bimby. Si Gabo nga nagre-reply din. Sabi ko nga sa group bakit di man lang si Gabo yung natandaan ni Bimby. Ako yung natandaan ni Bimby."

The source also said that the family of the former Letran player, particularly his mom, is very much affected on the issue.

Vice Ganda, in his interview with "Aquino & Abunda Tonight" on December 22, explained his relationship with Kevin as something not romantic.

"Hindi ko nga s'ya boyfriend. Nakakahiya talaga. Iyon nga 'yung hint. Kapag nakikita n'yong lumalabas kami, 'pag nakikita n'yong gumigimik kasama ko, hindi iyon ang boyfriend ko, kasi ang boyfriend ko hindi ko nilalabas." Vice Ganda said.

The rumor about Vice Ganda and Kevin's romance started when Bimby Yap, Vice's co-star in the MMFF 2014 movie entry "The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin," accidentally referred to the cager as the comedian's boyfriend in a live interview on "The Buzz" on Sunday, December 21.

Columbia Pictures Brings the Broadway Classic "Annie" to Cinemas Worldwide

Columbia Pictures Brings the Broadway Classic "Annie" to Cinemas Worldwide

Columbia Pictures Press Release

From Will Gluck, the director of the acclaimed comedy “Easy A,” comes the new, contemporary vision of the Broadway classic with Columbia Pictures’ comedy “Annie” starring Oscar-honorees Quvenzhane Wallis and Jamie Foxx.

Director, writer and producer Will Gluck says that in approaching a new vision for Annie - the classic show that won seven Tony Awards on Broadway and went on to become a heartfelt movie classic for 1980s kids who are now parents themselves - he was excited by the chance to work on a film that captures the magic of family.

"When we were filming, my daughter was the exact same age as Annie - 10 years old," he says. "I wanted to be a part of a movie that I could share with my family. I wanted to be part of a movie that would make everybody happy. This is a movie that puts a smile on your face at the beginning and keeps it there all day."

Working with a classic is no easy task, but it's one that Gluck, along with the producers, approached with equal parts respect and excitement. "Annie has never gone out of style," Gluck says. "At the end of the day, it's about finding family - which is the only thing that any of us want. Annie thinks that if she finds her parents, that's what 'family' means and she'll be happy. On the other side of that coin, you have Will Stacks, who doesn't believe that he needs family - he believes he's fulfilled by work and money. So these two people are going on parallel paths, thinking they know the path to happiness. They realize that their happiness is not what they thought it was - it's actually in each other."

Gluck says that's a story that would resonate in any generation. "That's why the songs and story still entertain as much as ever. We had a chance to make a great version of it that would appeal to today's kids and their parents."

In their vision for the film, Gluck and the producers wanted to put an updated, contemporary spin on the classic Broadway classic. Rather than set the film in the 1930s, "Annie" is set in the present day and the heroine is a 2014 kid in every possible way. For starters, Annie is a foster kid, not an orphan. She rides bikes through the city, knowing all the best routes to get through traffic. "This little girl is savvy," says producer Caleeb Pinkett. "She understands the way the world works, because she's street smart. She had to learn that way in order to survive."

As for the man who takes Annie in, he's no longer a Depression-era industrialist who got rich through war bucks - instead, he's Will Stacks, the head of a cell phone company. "Stacks is worth $4.7 billion," Gluck explains. "He's created the largest cellular network in the world. But all he cares about is work, work, work. And as he's running for mayor, that's all New Yorkers see about him. He's desperate to make a connection to the voters, so he takes Annie in as part of this cynical PR ploy - but the last thing he expected is to make a connection to one person in particular who can't even vote for him, because she's only 10 years old."

So the filmmakers have put a thoroughly contemporary spin on these characters - and in so doing, they cast the roles with bright, all-star company of actors, including Jamie Foxx, Rose Byrne, Bobby Cannavale, and Cameron Diaz. "Working with people like Jamie and Cameron and Bobby and Rose is just one more way that we made the movie feel like it's happening right now," says Gluck. "Of course, the most important thing to us was their incredible comedy chops and their ability to connect emotionally, but the fact that, collectively, the cast reflects where we are today - that was a huge part of the way we wanted the movie to look."

Academy Award® nominee QuvenzhanΓ© Wallis (Beasts of the Southern Wild) stars as Annie, a young, happy foster kid who's also tough enough to make her way on the streets of New York in 2014. Originally left by her parents as a baby with the promise that they'd be back for her someday, it's been a hard knock life ever since with her mean foster mom Miss Hannigan (Cameron Diaz). But everything's about to change when the hard-nosed tycoon and New York mayoral candidate Will Stacks (Jamie Foxx) - advised by his brilliant VP, Grace (Rose Byrne) and his shrewd and scheming campaign advisor, Guy (Bobby Cannavale) - makes a thinly-veiled campaign move and takes her in. Stacks believes he's her guardian angel, but Annie's self-assured nature and bright, sun-will-come-out-tomorrow outlook on life just might mean it's the other way around.

Opening across the Philippines on January 21, 2015, “Annie” is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International.

In the City's flag-raising ceremony, Bautista announced the QC Government's partnership with TV5 in bringing what is expected to be the grandest of all new year celebrations in the country. The event came from the vision of TV5 Chairman and industry leader Manny V. Pangilinan to have a Philippine counterpart of world-famous New Year celebrations in Times Square, New York; The Eye in London, Burj Khalifa in Dubai, The Opera House in Sydney, and all other popular New Year events all over the world.

In his response to the address of Mayor Bautista, Lorenzana shared that the project was inspired by the vision of TV5 Chairman Manny V. Pangilinan to have a Philippine version of iconic New Year celebrations seen around the world.

"'Happy sa 2015: The Philippine New Year Countdown' is our gift to the Filipino people. As we bring light and feel-good programs to our audiences this 2015, we have committed to start the year right with happiness, positivity and optimism. It's really going to be a happy 2015 with the Happy Network," said Lorenzana.

The TV5 President and CEO also thanked the Quezon City Government for partnering with the network in bringing the most spectacular New Year event to the Filipino people.

Meanwhile, the honorable Mayor lauded TV5 for partnering with "the City of Stars", saying that the event goes with his government's advocacy of minimizing New Year-related accidents and emergencies.

"We are glad to have partnered with TV5 in this endeavor. We encourage every Filipino, especially our very own citizens to join us at the Quezon Memorial Circle to celebrate and welcome the new year as a community," said Bautista.

Festivities begin at 10AM, in Quezon Memorial Circle where TV5 will hold an artista search for the next big Kapatid talent. Live band shows, street performances, and an LGBT Parade will be held simultaneously. In the evening, a star-studded New Year Special Concert will be hosted by Ogie Alcasid, Alice Dixson, and Derek Ramsay, featuring live performances from the hottest and most popular Kapatid talents and other special guests. This will conclude with the country's longest and brightest New Year pyromusical display and 3D lights show in the very heart of Quezon City - the iconic Pylon at the center of the Quezon Memorial Circle.

Sharon Cuneta Leaves Showbiz to Run as Pasay City Mayor Next Election

After leaving ABS-CBN in favor of TV5...and recently, putting everyone in awe when she decided to cut short her 1-billion peso Kapatid contract, Sharon Cuneta is reportedly set to leave showbiz for good to run for public office in the coming election.

Rumors about Sharon's political plans surfaced after her uncle, Senator Vicente "Tito" Sotto III said he is thinking of encouraging the Megastar to run for the same post once held by her father Pablo in Pasay City.

Do you think Sharon will make a good actress turned politician?

Would you vote for her?

Alex Gonzaga Caused Vice Ganda and Toni Gonzaga to Fight

Alex Gonzaga Caused Vice Ganda and Toni Gonzaga to Fight

Vice Ganda, in December 21 episode of "Gandang Gabi, Vice" revealed that Alex Gonzaga put him and Toni Gonzaga to a petty fight.

According to the Unkabogable Comedy actor he and Toni had a misunderstanding because of a comment he shared to her sister Alex.

Nagdamdam. So hindi ako kinikibo. 'Yun pala ang dahilan,” the comedian shared.

Talking to Alex, Vice asked his "The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin" co-star to share why her sister did not talk to him during the taping of the ABS-CBN Christmas special two weeks ago.

Pero nung dumating ka, nawala siya because you are a lot funnier. Ang ate mo dapat magdrama na 'yan next year.’ So sinabi ko sa kanya.” Alex recalled.

Vice, on the other hand, denied saying those things. “Hindi naman 'yun ang sinabi ko. Ang sinabi ko, ‘Alam mo (Alex) nakakatawa ka talaga. Toni is such a big star. Sobrang nakakatawa si Toni. Pero nung dumating ka, nakakatawa ka rin pala. Kaya siguro feeling ko 'yung ate mo, sa next movie niya maghe-heavy drama na lang para mag-give way sa 'yo,’” he clarified.

According to the comedian, he truly loves the Gonzaga sisters and is glad to be given the chance to get to know Alex more via the movie.

Top 5 Teleserye of 2014 Enumerates: Kapamilya vs. Kapuso

Top 5 Teleserye of 2014 Enumerates: Kapamilya vs. Kapuso

The year 2014 may be described as a remarkable year for Philippine teleserye, having been a year of new faces, bold thematic pursuits, and interesting social references.

Why were these soap operas notable?

Boldness is of course a necessary quality, particularly in a genre that closely follows conventions and time-tested modes. In this day and age, the teleserye has a lot of elbow room in reinventing thematic concerns, and some of this year’s teleseryes attempted to transcend trivial pursuits, particularly in discussing social issues and taboos, like infidelity.
There’s also the presentation of the “new”- as in new love teams, or new story treatments. Although newness is always disputable, the teleserye may be considered as offering newness by way of its being a platform for, say, an interesting pair that could establish successful fandoms, or establishing new viewing behavior. Newness may also be innovation, pushing the possibilities of the teleserye to go beyond its being a teleserye. For instance, some teleseryes of 2014 were able to grow into brands that reflected, of course, significant network interests.
The teleserye, however, is still a dynamic television genre that continues to reinvent itself - and this is where I would like to start the revaluation of these notable ones of 2014, for their absorbing acting, remarkable script, and distinct concept and production. They characterized the teleserye as a genre coming unto itself after 15 years, offering gripping and sensible narratives, despite the strong pull of market demands; intelligent approaches to even the typical soap figures and tropes; and astute refraction of current social affairs, an aspect of the teleserye only visible to the discerning eye.

Top 5 Teleserye of 2014

5. Honesto (ABS-CBN)
Cast: Paulo Avelino and Raikko Mateo
Airing Period: October 2013 - March 2014

Honesto may be deemed allegorical, considering that the current administration’s all-out campaign against corruption climaxed this year with several Blue Ribbon Committee hearings in the Senate, the real teleseryes of the day. To begin with, the title was already suggestive, and to personify honesty by way of a Pinnochio-like child-character, that of Rikko Matteo, was an astute way of projecting this political clamor for good governance. In an understated, ironic manner, the soap allegorized how the reign of greed decimated a utopic town where honor is valued and lies are difficult to keep, as moments of dishonesty manifest by way of swelling noses. Matteo’s Honesto, the child who could not lie, embodied what Filipino society wanted to recover at this sorry point where everyone was to be held suspect for lying — in real, and reel life. In the soap, lying was clearly identified as the path to corruption, and honesty, though such a lonely word, was the only way to redemption.

4. Rhodora X (GMA-7)
Cast: Jennylyn Mercado and Yasmin Kurdi
Airing Period:  January 2014 - May 2014

Rhodora X is Jennylyn Mercado’s piece de resistance. In this teleserye, she played the character of Rhodora, who was suffering from dissociative identity disorder, a result of her violent experience in a kidnapping episode. Aside from her main or host character, she had two other selves here - the alter egos Roxanne, and Rowena, pegged to be 8 years old. The part of her which is Roxanne - scheming and cunning -0 developed hatred for her sister, Angela, played by the underrated Yasmien Kurdi. Rhodora-as-Roxanne competed with Angela for their mother’s love, and for Mark Herras’ Joaquin, their love interest.
I find the concept very interesting and Mercado, in interviews, said that it was very challenging to be embodying these conflicting selves. The internal dynamics heightened the external conflicts, and this ploy, I think, made the soap opera this year’s boldest.

3. The Legal Wife (ABS-CBN)
Cast: Angel Locsin, Jericho Rosales, JC de Vera and Maja Salvador
Airing Period: January 2014 - June 2014

The Legal Wife is by far, this year’s fiercest teleserye. It was the return soap of Angel Locsin, who here played Monica, the legal wife to Jericho Rosales’s Adrian. It was fierce in providing a new perspective on infidelity in Philippine culture, presenting a deconstructed male macho figure, and a resonant image of the other woman. The configuration of the bida and kontrabida here was examined as merely an artifice to the moral issue (for the patriarchy) of keeping the family.

The soap was a dramatic showcase of confrontations that easily trended in social media, but these confrontations, though filled with the choicest hysterics, only attempted to subtly expose what was usually kept under wraps: the gravitas of a woman’s position in fighting for one’s love in the context of the Filipino, middle/upper-class family, and keeping one’s self respect and dignity in an oppressive patriarchal environment.

2. Got To Believe (ABS-CBN)
Cast: Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla
Airing Period: August 2013 - March 2014

Got To Believe is the “next-level” soap of the Kathryn Bernardo-Daniel Padilla tandem. After storming television with their chemistry in Princess and I, it was a good network move to immediately star them in a very interesting and glossy romantic-comedy teleserye. Padilla’s character here, Joaquin, was a sickly teenage brat bored by his life under the care of his overbearing mother. Some may say it’s already an old, old story, as Bernardo’s Chichay played here the maid who was surrogate mother, and eventually, love interest to Joaquin. The virtue of the soap, however, was characterization, and the two’s personae were explored well, with depth and dimension.

The two were also gifted with contrasting worlds that helped characterize them - Joaquin was housed in an almost antiseptic and suffocating mansion where the queen was his mother Juliana, played scintillatingly by Carmina Villaroel, where his father Jaime, played by Ian Veneracion, was simply subservient. The gypsy-like Chichay’s world meanwhile was a world of carnivalesque play - a perya, maintained by her parents Betchay, played by Manilyn Reynes, and Chito, played by Benjie Paras. The soap’s laudable production design heightened the contrast, and for me, gave a fresh take on the rich boy-poor girl modes that typify Pinoy soap operas.

1. Sana Bukas Pa Ang Kahapon (ABS-CBN)
Cast: Bea Alonzo, Paulo Avelino and Maricar Reyes
Airing Period: June 2014 - October 2014

Sana’y Bukas Pa ang Kahapon leads this year’s most notable teleseryes. It is the story of Rose Buenavista and Emmanuel Romero, both played by Bea Alonzo. Rose, a curiously looking naive lady, is heir to a chocolate empire, who suddenly found herself embroiled in the murder of her father, the story’s main pivot. Emmanuel defended her, and eventually, the two got involved in a car mishap that claimed the life of the lawyer. Rose survived and for a while pretended to be Emmanuel, after a successful plastic surgery. With plans to avenge her fate, she began to investigate her being framed and plotted to bring down those who took over her family’s chocolate business - her suspects to the crime.
This teleserye is Alonzo’s best so far, and she has matured in terms of acting alongside her equally talented leading man Paulo Avelino, who played the role of Rose’s erstwhile chocolatier husband Patrick Salvador. The most revealing performance, however, came from Maricar Reyes, who played Sasha, Patrick's highly insecure second wife. Her character’s pathos upped the ante and lent her real versatility, making her tragic end rather heroic.
