Korean-American Actor Daniel Henney is Tadashi in 'Big Hero 6'

Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International PR

Korean-American actor Daniel Henney (“X-Men Origins: Wolverine”) lends his voice to Tadashi Hamada, the big brother of lead character, Hiro (Ryan Potter), in Walt Disney Animation Studios' comedy adventure “Big Hero 6.”

Tadashi is a good guy. He just is. He actually developed, built and programmed a state-of-the-art nursebot - a Healthcare Companion named Baymax that will likely help millions worldwide. But it’s his role as big brother that makes Tadashi truly special. Every kid needs a guy like Tadashi looking out for him, and Hiro knows just how lucky he is to have him in his life.

Tadashi is Hiro’s strength,” says Daniel Henney, who voices the big brother. “They lost their parents years ago, so Tadashi is a father figure, and in many ways, the heartbeat of their family.

But, adds Henney, Tadashi is smart enough to know how to redirect a kid like Hiro. “Sometimes you have to manipulate the situation a little to get people to see it your way,” he says. “Instead of telling Hiro what to do with his life, Tadashi tricks him into figuring out for himself what’s good for him.”

As far as brothers go, these two have it down, says director Chris Williams. “I have a brother, so I knowsomething about these kind of relationships. You make fun of your little brother - have fun at his expense. But at the same time, there’s this incredible bond and love. If anybody else tries to mess with your brother, you can’t let that happen.

“Big Hero 6” is an original action-comedy-adventure about a robotics prodigy and a plus-sized inflatable robot, who develop a special bond on a quest to solve an unsettling mystery.

When a devastating event befalls the city of San Fransokyo and catapults Hiro into the midst of danger, he turns to Baymax and his brilliant fellow nerds: adrenaline junkie GoGo Tomago, neatnik Wasabi, chemistry whiz Honey Lemon and fanboy Fred. Determined to uncover the mystery, Hiro transforms his friends into a band of high-tech heroes called “Big Hero 6.”

Daniel Henney recentlybooked a regular role in the ABC pilot “Agatha,” opposite Bojana Novakovic. Earlier this year, he recurred on JJ Abrams’ NBC one-hour series “Revolution,” and was also seen in a guest-starring role on “NCIS: Los Angeles.” Henney is perhaps best known for playing Agent Zero in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” directed by Gavin Hood for Fox. He also had a supporting role in “The Last Stand” for Lionsgate opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger. Henney was a series regular last season on the A&E one-hour pilot “Occult” with Josh Lucas. He also recurred on CBS’ “Hawaii Five-0” and was a series regular on CBS’ “Three Rivers.”

Opening across the Philippines on November 06, “Big Hero 6” is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International through Columbia Pictures.

Kapamilya Stars Salute Modern Day Heroes with Performances Par Excellence in “Galing ng Filipino”

From afar, the Star Performing Arts Centre boasts of state-of-the-art architecture designed by the famed Artec consultants of New York while its Star Theatre beams of modern lighting, full sound system and high-definition video which in the words of music icon Tony Benett, makes it the “finest theatre” in the world.  On October 25, the renowned center became the perfect venue of premier network The Filipino Channel’s (TFC) own showcase of world-class performances fitting of modern day heroes – "Galing ng Filipino: A TFC 20 Celebration."

“Galing ng Filipino: A TFC 20 Celebration” is part of TFC’s 20th Anniversary celebrations which herald the greatness of the Filipino in every aspect of their lives.  According to Ailene Averion, ABS-CBN Asia Pacific managing director, the event hoped to forge ahead with the greatness of the Filipinos by raising the bar as well in terms of performances outside the Philippines and at places which only hosts the world’s best such as the much raved about Star Theater.  She said: “’Galing ng Filipino’ the event is the first time we have moved to this kind of world-class venue in Singapore.  We asked the artists to challenge themselves as entertainers and provide unparalleled performance fitting of the venue and most of all, of our beloved kababayans, and they delivered.  I am proud to see our own Filipino talents shine with the same kind of set-up as those who have performed here and even beyond.  The Filipino artist is truly great.”

One by one, Kapamilya stars led by TFC’s 20th Anniversary Ambassador Gary Valenciano paid tribute to the diligent and dauntless overseas Filipinos in Singapore, dubbed “mga Bagong Bayani” who continue to toil for their loved ones and make their country proud.  Kicking off the celebrations on a high note is the powerful rendition of comedienne-singer Giselle Sanchez of the John Fogerty composition “Proud Mary,” a song that heralded the vocal prowess of every singer who dared perform the iconic tune.  Sanchez earned the audience’s cheers when she went Original Pilipino Music (OPM) with the song “Hoy Lumapit Ka” and called on a male audience to join her in song.  Shifting to the international scene, Sanchez exited with the Broadway hit “Mamma Mia.”

The audience was then treated to another level of performance as “Galing ng Filipino” drew the curtains for Hollywood Performing Arts Hall of Famer Jed Madela.  Every heart melted with his powerful version of “Pusong Bato” from the teleserye “Juan dela Cruz” and “Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin” from the drama series with the same title.  Moving the audience to their feet was a grand 50s medley of “Great Pretender,” “Only You,” “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes,” “Diana,” and “One Way Ticket” with an interesting twist – a Voltes 5 theme in the end.

From world-class performers to another, “Galing ng Filipino” rolled out the red carpet at the venue which could house about 2,000, for the “Queen of Teleserye Theme Songs” who proved that her talent is incomparable with her rendition of the TFC’s top-rating program “Sana Bukas Pa Ang Kahapon.”     Proving that she truly is music royalty, Quinto rocked the song “Queen of the Night” by the late Whitney Houston.  The crowd went wild as Quinto performed the iconic OPM rock hit “Halik.”  Sanchez joined Quinto for a duet “Put Your Heads on My Shoulder” which left everyone nostalgic.

Setting the venue on fire was the entry of Total Performer Gary V who delighted the audience with his iconic hits “Di Bale Na Lang” and “Shout For Joy.”  Tears seemingly flooded the venue as Gary V performed “How Did You Know” and a medley of the greatest teleserye themes of all time.  Joining Gary V for a powerhouse duet was Madela who sang Chicago’s “Hard Habit To Break” and the performance indeed left audience with a case of last song syndrome.  What began with a high note, ended with the same level of performance as Mr. Pure Energy Gary V performed “Galing ng Filipino,” TFC’s 20th Anniversary theme which the audience whole-heartedly sang along with because of its lyrics that spoke of the Filipino’s ability to overcome adversity through innate values, in the hope of emerging winners in their own journeys in life.

“Galing ng Filipino: A TFC 20 Celebration” was presented by Western Union and Cebu Pacific, in partnership with Hello Asia, Jollibee Padala, Camella Homes, Philippine Airlines, Pag-IBIG fund, RCBC Telemoney, Metro Remittance (Singapore) Pte.Ltd., Academy of Rock, Megaworld, GoldMed, and Philippine National Bank (PNB) Singapore Branch.

Watch: The History of 'Minions' Revealed in Video

The "Minions" are back! And this time they are featured in Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment’s upcoming comedy adventure titled after them.

The story of “Minions” begins at the dawn of time. Starting as single-celled yellow organisms, Minions evolve through the ages, perpetually serving the most despicable of masters. Continuously unsuccessful at keeping these masters - from T. rex to Napoleon - the Minions find themselves without someone to serve and fall into a deep depression.

But one Minion named Kevin has a plan, and he - alongside teenage rebel Stuart and lovable little Bob - ventures out into the world to find a new evil boss for his brethren to follow.

The trio embarks upon a thrilling journey that ultimately leads them to their next potential master, Scarlet Overkill (Academy Award® winner Sandra Bullock), the world’s first-ever female super-villain. They travel from frigid Antarctica to 1960s New York City, ending in mod London, where they must face their biggest challenge to date: saving all of Minionkind...from annihilation.

Check out the video below:

Featuring a soundtrack of hit music from the ’60s that still permeates our culture today, “Minions” is produced by Illumination’s Chris Meledandri and Janet Healy, and is directed by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda. Brian Lynch has written the screenplay for the 3D-CG comedy adventure, and Chris Renaud serves as executive producer of the film.

Opening across the Philippines on July 2015, “Minions” is distributed by United International Pictures through Columbia Pictures.

The Amazing Race Philippines 2 Bids Team Blondies Tina and Avy Wells Goodbye

 The Amazing Race Philippines PR

Blonde sisters Tina and Avy Wells were fourth to be eliminated from The Amazing Race Philippines 2.

In last Saturday's episode, the 8 remaining racers had to surf at Ganaden's Nook by the Sea in San Fernando in order to get the route info that will lead them to the fourth pit stop location. Team Dating Couple Matthew Edwards and Phoebe Walker, still first in the race, were only seconds ahead of second-placer team Magkapatid Jet and Yna Cruz who met them at the race mat. The Dating Couple won another PHP 200,000.00 from Shell V Power Nitro+. Team Mag-ama AJ and Jody Saliba advanced to the third slot, followed by Chefs Roch Hernandez and Eji Estillore, and Nerds Vincent Yu and Ed Manguan.

Meanwhile, team Sexy Besties RR Enriquez and Jeck Maierhofer became the only all-female team in the competition after making it to the 6th spot. They were followed by teamMr. Pogi Kelvin Engles and John Paul Duray who miraculously leaped to the 7th spot, thus eliminating the blondes from the race.

Despite finishing last, Tina and Avy won the hearts of millions of netizens due to their impressive performance despite being left out of alliances formed by other teams.

"Nung first leg pa lang, the other teams were ganging up on us. We never really allied with the other teams, which was fine by us because Avy and I figured that in the end, it will still be every team for themselves," Tina noted during an interview withInterAksyon.com.

This week, viewers can look forward to the much-awaited meltdown of first-placers Dating Couple Matthew and Phoebe. Will this affect their standing in the race? Will other racers be able to overtake them from what seems to be a leg-after-leg win? Another team to watch out for is the father and son tandem of 52-year-old AJ Saliba and his 21-year-old son Jody who jumped over to the 3rd spot after starting out in the 5th place for the past legs. Will their performance improve now that the race takes them to the Ilocos region?

Don't miss the biggest reality show on Philippine TV! Powered by Rexona and sponsored by PLDT Home Telpad, Summit Natural Drinking Water, Kia Motors, RCD Royal Homes, Shell V Power Nitro+, and Resorts World Manila, The Amazine Race Philippines Season 2 airs daily at 9:00PM, exclusively on TV5.

Global TFCKat Winners Impress Kapamilya Stars in ABS-CBN and TFC 'Galing ng Filipino’ Shows

For a second time in a row, The Filipino Channel (TFC) provides the stage for overseas Filipinos (OFs) who could be the next generation of stars to shine as it draws the curtain for the 2013 TFCkat winners from around the world as they make their rounds in ABS-CBN and TFC shows.  TFCkat, the premier Filipino network in the world's first global talent search, aims to showcase the Filipino talent and affirm our pride and honor through the performing arts.

According to ABS-CBN North America Managing Director Olivia Finina de Jesus,"TFC as the network that exists for OFs, has always been there to accompany them in their journey overseas, connect them with family or herald their achievements.  This year, this mission takes on more meaning as we are celebrating TFC's 20th anniversary.  With the theme 'Galing ng Filipino (Forge Ahead with the Greatness of the Filipino)' we hope to bring forth more of these milestones in more avenues.

According to ABS-CBN Europe and Middle East Managing Director Edgardo Garcia, "TFCkat has actually been providing the stage to showcase the Filipino talent since its launch in 2012."  Garcia adds:  "This year, the competition runs parallel with our celebration of two decades of TFC and our anniversary theme.  'Galing ng Filipino' speaks of the Filipino's brilliance which we have witnessed so far and how TFC as a network always shares this with the world through our platforms."

ABS-CBN Asia Pacific Managing DirectorAilene Averion adds "The Philippines abounds with Filipino talents from singers to dancers and TFCkat is the perfect platform that provides the venue to showcase these talents."   She adds," when we were searching the world for great Filipino talents, we did not only find the best in each region but also a range of voices that are as varied as the cultures of their second homes."

Across genres, the TFCkat winners truly shine.  North America winner, 22 year-oldKatherine dela Cruz can belt out OPM hits as much as she can perform Broadway hits from her favorites such as Lea Salonga.  Dela Cruz may be the youngest in the batch but what she lacks in age, she makes up for her vocal prowess.   The California resident says she wants to inspire people with her music and TFCkat plays a huge role in her dreams.  Another winner from North America is 26 year-old Jenessa Escabarte.
Escabarte started singing since age 10 and her vocal depth proves this.  Like dela Cruz, she names Salonga as one of her influences.  Half-Filipino, half-French Vanessa Monot can easily catch attention with her towering height and European features.   In her finals performance at the momentous "2014 London Barrio Fiesta," Monot proved she is more than a pretty face as she wowed the judges with her raspy voice reminiscent of female alternative artists.  Nearby in the Middle East, 26 year-old Ana Blaza from the United Arab Emirates dabbles in the same type of genre.  Blaza may just stand at five feet more or less but this singer has a towering voice that stands out in any crowd, including the "ASAP Live in Dubai" where she earned the champion notch.  She calls herself simple but this adjective far describes how she performs on stage.

From the top of the world to the Land Down Under, the Filipino talents abound.  Giselle Hernandez, TFCkat winner from Australia has been singing professionally before she entered TFCKat.  When this 24 year-old holds the microphone and performs on stage, this musical advantage becomes obvious.  On the other hand, Charlie Catbagan, started late in high school and if not for the prodding of a friend.  But when this 26 year-old performs covers of his favorite artists like Brian Mc Knight, it seems as if he has been singing all his life.

In their homecoming to the Philippines, theTFCkat winners similarly wowed not just the hosts of widely followed programs in the motherland but also performers themselves, including TFC's 20th anniversary AmbassadorGary Valenciano.  During their first stop at "Ready Get MOR," the six winners engaged in a gab and song fest with hosts DJs Toni, Chikki Boom Boom and Pappi Charlz.  Moving on to DZMM Teleradyo, the winners performed OPM and pop hits at "Sakto" hosted by Marc Logan and Amy "Tiyang Amy" Perez.  The group also became part of the celebration of Tiyang Amy birthday as they were asked to perform a birthday song for the celebrator.  Later in the visit, some of the TFCkat winners performed on TFC's first online chat program "Kapamilya Love Chat" hosted by DJ Cha Cha.

As a highlight of their tour of the ABS-CBN studios, the TFCkat winners performed 'samples' or a showcase of their talent, a term made popular by the variety hit "It's Showtime."  In one of the segments of the show hosted by Anne Curtis, Vhong Navarro, and Billy Crawford, the winners were challenged to copy the performance of one of the group contestants who performed the song "Somewhere," revived by Angeline Quinto for "Ikaw Lamang."

As the highlight of the tour, Gary V visited the TFCkat winners during their recording of the anniversary theme "Galing ng Filipino."  During the visit, the Total Performer shared his precious time, mentoring the winners to increase their chances of making it big in the industry.  To complete their experience, the TFCkat winners were also given the chance to give back when they recently visited the Children's Village in Calamba, Laguna (Luzon Island).

Across regions and across avenues, TFC continues to put the spotlight on great Filipino talents through platforms such as TFCkat.  Get to know more of the TFCkat winners.   Watch them on "TFCKat: The Journey to the Philippines" this November on TFC worldwide.   Watch more of their worldwide appearances on TFC's official online service TFC.tv and via TFC's video-on-demand service in North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.

Anne Hathaway Joins a Team of Explorers on an 'Interstellar' Journey

Anne Hathaway ("The Dark Knight Rises," "Les Miserables") reunites with director Christopher Nolan in Warner Bros. Pictures' futuristic thriller "Interstellar."

In the film, with our time on Earth coming to an end, a team of explorers undertakes the most important mission in human history: traveling beyond this galaxy to discover whether mankind has a future among the stars.

Hathaway is mindful of Nolan's focus on the human stakes in even the most heroic endeavor. "From the beginning of time, the reach to expand our world or move our civilization forward has always involved great sacrifice by a handful of individuals, who put the greater good over any risk to themselves. This film really celebrates those who are brave enough to do that."

"I got so emotional reading it," continues Hathaway who plays biologist Amelia Brand, part of the team of astronauts that also includes Matthew McConaughey as Cooper, Wes Bentley as Doyle and David Gyasi as Romilly.

"The family dynamics for all the characters, the stakes for all the characters, are enormous," Hathaway continues. "I think just about everybody has to make some kind of major sacrifice in order to go on this journey. I think this film really celebrates those that are brave enough to do that. I'm so floored by humanity's capacity to put others before ourselves."

"Anne is an extraordinary talent who can really lose herself in a character," Nolan observes. "She has cerebral qualities and an interest in science, so it was natural to see her as Brand, a character who views the world through a scientific lens. But, at the same time, Anne's underlying warmth and the layered performance she brought to the role reveal this character to be a whole person beyond just being a scientist."

Hathaway admits that she was "blown away" by the film's evocation of space, but was primarily drawn in by the emotional journey the characters take. "The concepts behind this film can keep you awake at night, but the story is also a beautiful meditation on love," she says. "If you look at the human race from an evolutionary standpoint, you have to factor in love as a key part of the equation, and how this idea is woven into Brand's experience of this mission felt very moving and truthful to me. I think it's a brave and extraordinary thing that Chris has done in weaving the persistence of love into the DNA of this big adventure in space."

Anne Hathaway most recently reprised the voice of Jewel, an independent, high-flying blue macaw in Carlos Saldanha's animated film "Rio 2," which also features voices from Jamie Foxx and Jesse Eisenberg.

In 2012, she starred as "Fantine" in Tom Hooper's screen adaptation of musical phenomenon "Les Misérables," opposite Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Eddie Redmayne and Amanda Seyfried. Hathaway's performance garnered Oscar, Golden Globe, SAG, and BAFTA awards for lead actress. Earlier that year, Hathaway starred as the ultimate femme fatale "Catwoman" alongside Christian Bale, Marion Cotillard, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises." The film was Nolan's third and final chapter in the franchise and was both a critical triumph and a smash box office hit.

In 2008, Hathaway starred in Jonathan Demme's critically acclaimed "Rachel Getting Married," for which she was nominated for an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, an Independent Spirit Award, and a SAG Award in the "Best Actress" category. The National Board of Review, the Chicago Film Critics Association, and the Broadcast Film Critics Association all named Hathaway "Best Actress" for her performance in the film.

Opening across the Philippines on Nov. 6, "Interstellar" is distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company. "Interstellar" is available in four formats: IMAX 70mm Film (at IMAX SM Mall of Asia), 35mm Film (at Glorietta 4, Sta. Lucia East and Trinoma), IMAX Digital (at SM Aura Premiere, SM Cebu, SM Clark, SM Lanang, SM Megamall, SM North EDSA and SM Southmall) and Digital 2D (most theatres nationwide).
