Gilas Pilipinas Dissolved, MVP Fires Chot Reyes

Philippines bids Gilas Pilipinas goodbye as Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) starts to search for the next national basketball squad minus coach Chot Reyes as announced today, October 30.

The announcement effectively disbanded the national team that finished second in the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship and removed Chot Reyes as national team coach.

In a statement, the SBP said its president, Manny V. Pangilinan, proposed a "participative and consultative approach" in the initial selection process for future national teams to address at least nine international tournaments scheduled for 2015.

"Elite tournaments like the FIBA Asia Qualifying, World Cup, Asian Games, which involve PBA players, will go through the committee composed of SBP Board members from the PBA, PBA D-League and the SBP," it said in a statement.

Meanwhile, a screening-selection committee composed of SBP board members representing the UAAP, NCAA, CESAFI, NAASCU and the SBP, through executive director Sonny Barrios, will oversee the team selection not involving PBA players.

Among the key tournaments SBP is preparing for are the 28th Southeast Asian Games in June 2015 and the 28th FIBA Asia Championship in China in August 2015. The FIBA Asia tilt will serve as the regional qualifier to the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

The committees, according to the SBP, will short-list candidates for players and coach for submission to the SBP Executive Committee made up of the SBP chairman, president, vice chairman, vice president and executive director "for ultimate final approval" of the SBP Board of Trustees.

PBA commissioner Chito Salud said he has met with Pangilinan on Tuesday and relayed the comments and inputs of all the PBA team owners regarding Gilas Pilipinas, which after a superb performance in the FIBA Asia and FIBA Worlds nosedived to the Philippines' seventh place finish in the Asian Games -- an all-time worst.

"These comments and sentiments were received openly by Mr. Pangilinan, and during last Tuesday's SBP Board of Trustees meeting, in response to the comments and suggestions made by the PBA team owners, the SBP has approved the creation of a committee tasked to select the head coach of the national team and players from the PBA that would form the national pool," Salud said in a statement.

John Lloyd Cruz on 16-Year-Old Son: "Di ako magmamalinis pero 15 ako nun and I'll become a father 'pag ready na."

Is John Lloyd Cruz the father of a 16-year-old student of University of The Philippines Los Banos (UPLB)?

If the teen really is his son, he must have fathered the mother's son at the age of 15 during their Tabing Ilog days?
After entertainment and lifestyle blog Fashion Pulis posted a nasty blind item recently claimed that he had already fathered a 16-year-old out of wedlock, the Kapamilya blockbuster actor says he is not surprised anymore by the accusation and considers it just one of the many occupational hazards of being a celebrity. "Hindi naman nakakainis kasi medyo common na yan sa amin. At saka dati nga meron pang nagsasabi na hindi ko raw tatay yung tatay ko. Sabi ko nga sa mommy ko, 'Mommy ah, I didn't know you had it in you! (laughs)," he shares during the launch of Jack 'n Jill Magic's new commercials and products at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Ortigas last October 29.

The 31-year-old celebrity ambassador for the brand also says that even if people did the math, it would be impossible for him to have fathered the teenager. "Kasi medyo may edad na (yung bata), nung kinuwenta ko parang lumalabas 15 years old ako nun. Malabo rin mangyari (laughs)," he admits. Lloydy says that even if he and the teenager were to meet face-to-face, he would have a clear conscience in saying he is not the parent. "Mahirap naman yun kasi hindi naman tayo nagmamalinis pero bilang lalake, dapat ata malalaman mo kung meron. Hindi lang lukso ng dugo pero parang ginagawa mo yun eh, kung ginawa mo ang isang bagay na yun, dapat alam mo. Hindi mo puwede sabihin na hindi mo alam kung sayo yun o hindi di ba? Yun lang yung sa akin," he adds.

As he gets ready to leave the country for a vacation overseas, Lloydy says he has not even had time to discuss the issue with girlfriend Angelica Panganiban and his family. "Hindi namin napag-usapan. Ay oo nga ano, napaisip tuloy ako. Hindi namin talaga napag-usapan," he admits. To show that he still sympathizes with the teenager searching for his biological father, Lloydy says there are better channels to go through that can prove legitimacy. "Sa kahit na ano sigurong kaso na ganyan, mapa-akin man o mapa sa ibang tao, especially kapag public figure, siguro daanin natin sa tamang proseso. Kunwari parang kung hindi niyo ma-reach yung sinasabi niyong tatay niyo, may mga proper courses of action eh. Siguro puwede mo puntahan yung employer niya. For my case siguro puwede ka pumunta sa ABS-CBN at hanapin ako. Parang mahirap seryosohin kung dadaanin mo sa blind item, Kung dadaanin mo sa social media," he explains.

Even though he admits he is not even ready to walk down the aisle anytime soon, The celebrity ambassador says taking on the responsibility of becoming a father is an even bigger role for him and will be planned accordingly when he starts his own family. "I'll become a father pag ready na. Hindi pa. Siguro in the next few years. Meron pa akong gustong maabot na hindi pa naaabot professionally sosiguro dun muna ako mag-ko-concentrate," he says.

Jolina Magdangal and Marvin Agustin Return to ABS-CBN, Lead the Cast of Drama Series 'Flordeliza'

It's official! One of the most popular Kapamilya love teams of the '90s reunite as Jolina Magdangal and Marvin Agustin return to their original home as Kapamilya and will lead the cast of upcoming drama series "Flordeliza".

Days after Marvin announced that he will join the cast of the series, Jolina, on Monday, reported to her first shooting day for "Flordeliza," confirming weeks of speculation that she will reunite with Marvin nearly two decades after they were launched as a tandem via "Gimik" in 1996.

The new series is under the direction of Wenn Deramas, who was also behind Jolina and Marvin's last film together as ABS-CBN stars, "Kung Ikaw Ay Isang Panaginip," in 2002.

Jolina transferred to GMA-7 that year. Marvin followed suit in 2006.

While "Flordeliza" is a drama series, Direk Wenn assured long-time fans of Jolina and Marvin that they will see light moments between the two, which they were known for in the late '90s.

Unlike their contemporaries at the time, Jolina and Marvin rarely had dramatic roles as a love team. "Labs Ko Si Babe," their first primetime series together, was billed as a romantic-comedy.

Direk Wenn added that "Flordeliza," which revolves around two children, is a timely project for both Jolina and Marvin, who are now parents. Marvin is a proud father to twins, while Jolina welcomed her first child with Rivermaya drummer Mark Escueta in February.

But finding a one-stop-beauty-shop that offers everything your body, mind and soul needed is still a bit of a challenge. Until that one long-stressful Monday, on my way to Greenhills from Makati, about to attend one last scheduled meeting for the day when I chanced upon this white colored establishment along Wilson Street in San Juan. So white that it looks so heavenly inviting. Curious that I am, I stepped on the break, parked the car and alas...I found this beauty haven called BLISS BEAUTY LOUNGE.
