Christian Bautista Performs at the 23rd Anniversary show of MNCTV Network in Indonesia

Asia's Premiere Balladeer Christian Bautista proves continues to prove his worth as an Asian Icon when he was chosen to be a featured guest performer (and the only Filipino performer) in the special 23rd Anniversary show of MNCTV Network, considered to be Southeast Asia's largest and most integrated media group.

The event featured two elaborate stage set-ups featuring 30 famous performers and personalities from Indonesia, Malaysia. Christian was the lone Filipino performer in the event. Most of the songs performed were from a traditional Indonesian folk genre called Dangdut.

"I was overwhelmed that I got invited in such a prestigious event in MNCTV," says Christian. "The fact alone they trusted me to sing Dangdut, para akong inampon ng Indonesia. These dangdut songs are rich in tradition and almost sacred to them."

Christian sang Hingga Akhir Waktu (Till The End Of Time) with Syahrini and a traditional dangdut dance song called Pokok e Joged with Perssik and Ayu Ting Ting.

"The songs were beautifully and contemporarily arranged and the production numbers had the artists and dancers in elaborate traditional inspired costumes," shares he. "Syempre, I also sang my hits Tetaplah Dihatiku (Please Be Careful with My Heart in Bahasa language) with film & soap superstar Bunga Citra Lestari , The Way You Look At Me and my latest single to be released in Manila Up Where We Belong, which is the theme of the GMA7 series Empress Ki."

Christian also met with other TV program media groups under MNCTV and family members of the network owners.

The Kapuso actor/singer/host, who celebrated his birthday on October 19, was also surprised by his Indonesian fans with gifts and a special birthday cake.

The amusing and confusing performance by the trio of Teddy Corpuz, Billy Crawford, and Jugs Jugueta earned them the title of this year's ''Magpasikat Week'' champions on Saturday, capping of the 5th anniversary celebration of ''It's Showtime.''

Collectively called "Team TBJ," the group on Friday puzzled the studio audience and their co-hosts with an unconventional performance, which strayed from the usual song and dance numbers.

The group brought to the stage their own noontime program, dubbed "Whatchamacall8," complete with colorful props, energetic dancers, and mock TV commercials featuring Crawford, Jugueta and Corpuz.

The performance also featured teen stars Nadine Lustre and James Reid. A studio audience member also won P90,000, which, according to Jugueta, is an actual cash prize.

As the Magpasikat Week champions, the trio won P300,000 for their chosen charity.

Check out their performance below:

Placing second and third were the duo of Vhong Navarro and Jhong Hilario; and the team of Anne Curtis and Coleen Garcia, taking home P200,000 and P100,000 for their chosen charities, respectively.

The two remaining teams - the tandems of Kim Atienza and Karylle, and Ryan Bang and Vice Ganda - received consolation prizes for their chosen charities.

The Voice of the Philippines Season 2 Begins this Sunday on ABS-CBN

The Voice of the Philippines PR
A new batch of Filipino artists with extraordinary voices will take center stage in the highly anticipated Season 2 of Philippine TV’s best vocal competition, “The Voice of the Philippines,” which begins this Sunday (October 26), 8:30 PM on ABS-CBN.

Back in Season 2 are its quartet of superstar coaches Apl de Ap, Sarah Geronimo, Bamboo, and Lea Salonga, with the solid team of multi-awarded host Luis Manzano, Robi Domingo, Alex Gonzaga, and the ultimate multimedia star Toni Gonzaga.

I’m really happy about the hosts of Season 1 and Kids teaming up. Of course, I’m proud to be back too, since this format is really close to my heart. We get to discover more talents and I’m sure it’s going to be an exciting season,” said Toni.

Luis, who hosted “The Voice Kids,” shared that Season 2 brought him a brand-new experience because aside from his regular hosting duties, he also went to different places in the country to personally invite artists to join the blind auditions.

In ‘The Voice Kids,’ we were very impressed by big voices coming from little children, and that proves that innate talent of Pinoy singers. This season, I got to travel the country and I saw the amazement and joy in each artist when I gave them the envelope. During the blinds, I surprised and checked on some of them. So I got to know their inspirations and motivations,” Luis shared.

In Season 2, coaches Apl, Sarah, Bamboo, and Lea will have to assemble 14 artists to form a team by the end of the blind auditions. The new season will also introduce the ‘steal,’ which will definitely add spice and excitement to the competition.

During the battle rounds, each coach will have to pit two artists against each other and choose only one that will move on to the next round. If a coach likes an artist, he or she can ‘steal’ the losing artist. If two or more coaches like the losing artist, the artist, just like in the blind auditions, gets to choose which coach or team to transfer to.

This season is going to be more thrilling, and that’s going to fuel an even intense competition among the coaches. Palaban lahat. I’m glad to be of service and show the latest happenings in the program. There are lots of great singers this season,” Robi said.

Robi and Alex will again serve as the program’s V-Reporters, who will deliver online the latest and most significant updates backstage and behind the camera.

Meanwhile, Alex has also been a visibly active singer-performer, which she said helped her in her hosting.

Actually, singing is also my passion, so I can totally relate to singers and our artists in ‘The Voice.’ It’s just that I have not gotten my big break in singing. As of the moment, I focus on my acting, hosting, and being an author. But I’m not closing my doors,” joked Alex.

To tease viewers, “The Voice” has released videos of two blind audition performances showing a policewoman belting out “Tukso” and a female rocker singing “What About Love.”

The new season will showcase artists with notably refined artistry representing various fields and ages, including a nurse, a bus vendor, a farmer, a chemist, a Zumba instructor, and a former recording artist.

Who will be part of Team Apl, Team Sarah, Team Bamboo, and Team Lea? Don’t miss the premiere of “The Voice of the Philippines” Season 2 this Sunday (October 26), 8:30 PM on ABS-CBN. For updates on the program, visit, like, or follow @thevoiceabscbn on Twitter and @abscbnthevoice on Instagram.

'Bates Motel' Star Olivia Cooke Lead Cast of Supernatural Thriller “Ouija.”

She’s currently starring alongside Freddie Highmore and Vera Farmiga on A&E’s acclaimed television series “Bates Motel.”  Now, young British actress Olivia Cooke will be seen in the big screen as she plays lead character, Laine, in Universal Pictures’ supernatural thriller “Ouija.”

The film revolves around a group of friends who must confront their most terrifying fears when they unwittingly make contact with a dark power from the other side.  What started as a game will unleash an evil only they can stop.

The principal cast is composed of five friends, led by the fearless Laine, a high school student looking for answers.  Filmmakers searched for a great deal of time for the best actress to fill the role.  Little did they know, she was right in front of them…as a placeholder in White’s “Ouija” tone book.

Director Stiles White explains: “The first role that we needed to get right was Laine.  I had watched some episodes of `Bates Motel,’ so Olivia was already on my radar when we were putting `Ouija’ together.  As well, I had this tone book filled with photos of how I wanted everything to look.  There she was in the photo of who I thought the lead should be.  It turns out Olivia was exactly who we all had in mind.  It felt like, for the first time, I was seeing the living, breathing version of the character that Juliet and I had imagined.

Producer Brad Fuller concurs with his director’s decision: “Horror movies are a great way to meet young talent, and we knew Olivia as this great British actress and had seen her in `Bates Motel.’  Still, at the end of the day, at her audition, she just blew us away.”

As it so happens, Cooke was able to identify with Laine, who fills the maternal role of watching over her rebellious younger sister, Sarah.  She shares: “I am from a single-parent family and I have a little sister who is 14, so I connected to that with Laine.  I also connected to my character’s loyalty, as I, too, am fiercely loyal to my friends and family.

To get into character, Cooke had to put all of her trust in the man at the helm.  Of White, she enthuses: “Stiles is the calmest director I’ve ever worked with.  He’s very soothing and reassuring.”

Though Laine’s insatiable curiosity leads her into dire situations in “Ouija,” Cooke admits she’s never used a Ouija board.  She laughs: “I was always told not to mess with a Ouija board because I’d heard of people who had these horror stories about contacting a spirit.  Though I do remember saying to my friends, ‘Let’s take a Ouija board into an abandoned barn and play!’ and they were definitely not into it.

Cooke was born in Manchester, England.  Upon graduating from Oldham Theatre Workshop, she landed a key role in “Blackout,” a BBC series directed by Tom Green, for which she starred alongside Christopher Eccleston.  She then took the lead role in a BBC miniseries set in the 1940s “The Secret of Crickley Hall,” directed by Joe Ahearne.

Cooke was most recently seen in the Lionsgate thriller “The Quiet Ones.”

Opening across the Philippines on October 29, “Ouija is distributed by United International Pictures through Columbia Pictures.

'Paminta 101' Video: Tropa Mo Ko Nice Di Ba?! Original Musicale Presentation

Ogie Alcasid proves once again why he is deemed a genius in comedy with the hit segment “Paminta 101” in TV5’s Tropa Mo Ko Nice Di Ba?!, where he showcases his hilarious antics together with fellow gagsters Alwyn Uytingco, Edgar Allan Guzman and Wendell Ramos.

Ogie plays Bhoy Pahmin in the “Paminta 101” segment where he presents the differences between a straight guy, a gay and a “paminta” or closet gay. Ogie is usually accompanied by Wendell Ramos, who uses his hunk status to the hilt.

Vin Abrenica and Mark Neumann alternate in playing the role of a straight guy, with Alwyn Utingco effectively playing the gay friend while Edgar Allan Guzman plays the “paminta”, or the “pa-men” in gay lingo.

Composed by Ogie himself, the song is fast catching on, especially with the wacky video of its towel-clad male performers and the surprise appearance of Ogie’s wife, Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez, toward the end of the MTV.

Indeed, with a stream of record-breaking box office triumphs of romantic and family comedies and love triangles, the country’s premier film outfit braved the road less travelled with a compelling court drama that involves a complicated and odd nexus of characters and tackles the sensitive topics of rape, the mentally handicapped, gay parents, marital problems, social media abuse and the country’s justice system.

To pull this off, it takes the caliber of award-winning director Chito Roño, the story and screenplay by Ricky Lee, Kriz G. Gazmen and Enrico Santos, and the sterling cast led by John Lloyd Cruz, Gretchen Barretto, Richard Gomez, Enrique Gil, Jessy Mendiola, Sylvia Sanchez, Vivian Velez, Vincent De Jesus, Benjamin Alves, among others.

After its opening in the Philippines, The Trial is making critics think, triggering moviegoers to talk and discuss the film, and creating buzz for film awards.  They say fall is the season in North America to bring in the good stuff, the movies of serious value and content.  As part of TFC’s and Star Cinema’s 20th anniversary, TFC@theMovies couldn’t have chosen a better film offering to kick off its fall movie season here with The Trial.  It is simply a must-see,” said ABS-CBN Global Head of Theatricals John-D Lazatin.

A Curious Case: Flaws and Secrets

The marriage of lawyer JULIAN (Richard Gomez) and developmental psychologist AMANDA (Gretchen Barretto) is already crumbling. Aggravated by the tragic death of their only son, their relationship now is beyond any chance of mending.

That chance came when one day Julian and Amanda encounter a curious case. RONALD (John Lloyd Cruz), a person with intellectual disability, is accused of raping the niece of a renowned university head, BESSY (Jessy Mendiola). The already curious case becomes more intriguing when they learn that Ronald was their son’s best buddy.

Amanda is hired by Bessy’s camp to look into Ronald to prove his lucidity and intention – hence, implicating him of the crime. However, as she tries to get to know him, the truth about Ronald and his relationship with Bessy and her deceased son all unfold before her. Believing that Ronald could have not committed the crime, she withdraws from Bessy’s camp and decides to help him.

Working together, Julian and Amanda exert every possible effort to acquit Ronald of the crime. Little do they know that his case would mean facing the truth about their broken family – something they have forever lied to themselves about.

“Memorable,” said ABS-CBN North America Managing Director Olivia De Jesus.  “The Trial is a film that reels you in as a moviegoer and makes you ask what would you have done if you were one of the characters?  In the end, it will make you look into yourself, your own relationships with your family and with people seen as ‘different’ by society.”

News5 Anchor Lourd De Veyra Named Best Culture-Based Documentation Host by NCCA

News5 host and iconic multimedia and literary personality Lourd de Veyrarecently bagged another award for his continuous and significant efforts in proudly upholding and promoting the value of Philippine culture and history.

The National Commission for Culture and Arts (NCCA), the Philippine institution primarily tasked to implement the overall policies and programs on Philippine culture and arts, has recently acknowledged Lourd de Veyra for his wide-spread cultural contributions, bestowing upon him the recognition as the Best Culture-Based Documentation Host for two of his hit programs on TV5 — “History with Lourd” (every Wednesday at 10:30PM) and “Word of the Lourd” (every Friday, during “Aksyon sa Umaga”).

Both programs have developed a notable following, especially because of the unique mix of entertainment and education viewers enjoy while watching them. The weekly program “History with Lourd” sheds light on several controversies and untold stories in Philippine history that have long intrigued scholars and common citizens alike — basically, history topics and lessons that are not discussed in schools. Meanwhile, “Word of the Lourd”, which has especially become a hit among netizens, features satires and candid commentary by Lourd himself on several relevant news and political issues.

2014 has noticeably been a banner year for awards for Lourd, after the same program, “History with Lourd”, was likewise recognized by the Hildegarde Awards with the Outstanding Achievement in the Broadcast Media (Television) award earlier this year. Likewise, Lourd also took home the Adamson Media Award, besting other media practitioners from all over the country and being just the fourth person in history to win the award (and the first from TV5).

Lourd de Veyra is also at the helm of the morning news program “Aksyon sa Umaga” (weekdays at 5:00AM) and hosts the weather segment of the flagship primetime newscast program “Aksyon” (weeknights at 6:15PM) on TV5.

Renee Zellweger Before and After Photos: What Went Wrong

Remember Renee Zellweger, the actress known for blockbuster movies Chicago, Jerry Maguire and Bridget Jones’s Diary?

On Monday, the 45-year-old actress arrives at ELLE's 21st Annual Women In Hollywood at Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills with this new look.

In a statement published in People Magazine, Zellweger explained the reason why she looks different.

"For a long time I took on a schedule that is not realistically sustainable and didn’t allow for taking care of myself. Rather than stopping to recalibrate, I kept running until I was depleted and made bad choices about how to conceal the exhaustion. I was aware of the chaos and finally chose different things." she said.

"Now I’m living a different, happy, more fulfilling life, and I’m thrilled that perhaps it shows. I did work that allows for being still, making a home, loving someone, learning new things, growing as a creative person and finally growing into myself. My friends say that I look peaceful. I am healthy," she added.

But despite crediting her new looks with simple, fulfilled, happy lifestyle, experts are starting to scrutinize saying it's a suspected case of plastic surgery gone wrong.

"The distance between the brow and her eye is much smaller than before. Her forehead is smooth - you would expect more expressive wrinkles when she smiles which indicates a possible small dose of Botox between the eyelid and eye. The most significant procedure appears to be a blepharoplasty (eye bag removal and lid reduction) which has opened up her eyes and face dramatically," said Dr. Alex Karidis of London's Karaidis Clinic.

Check out their performances below:

The Amazing Race PH 2 Update: Pinay World Champs Luz McClitton and Gretchen Albaniel Ends Friendship in Most Shocking Pit Stop Exit

The Amazing Race PH 2 PR

World-renowned female body builder Luz McClitton and Women’s Boxing champ Gretchen Albaniel of Team Pinay World Champs were second to be eliminated from The Amazing Race Philippines – Season 2.

In last Saturday’s episode of the Race, the 10 remaining teams outran each other  from the Canyon Cove Resort in Nasugbu to the Basilica de San Martin de Tours in Taal, Batangas which served as the pit stop for the second leg of the race. Team Dating Couple Matthew Edwards and Phoebe Walker were first to arrive, earning them the first place for this leg and 200,000 pesos worth of cash prize from Shell V Power Nitro Plus.  Team Magkapatid Jet and Yna Cruz came in close-second followed by team Nerds Vince Yu and Ed Manguan, team Chefs Roch Hernandez and Eji Estillore, and the father-son duo of team Mag-ama AJ and Jody Saliba. Meanwhile, team Blondies Tina and Avy Wells, team Mr. Pogi Kelvin Engles and John Paul Duray, team Juan D Charlie Sutcliffe and Daniel Marsh, and team Sexy Besties RR Enriquez and Jeck Maierhofer might have to beef up their strategies as they fall on the 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th places respectively.

Team Pinay World Champs Luz McClitton and Gretchen Albaniel were last to arrive, which automatically drops them from the race.

Luz and Gretchen seemed to be calm and accepting of their fate after being told by race master Derek Ramsay that they are already out of the race but what came after was unexpected even by the production staff of the multi-awarded program. Shortly after their elimination at the second pit stop inside the Basilica de San Martin de Tours in Taal, Batangas, the Pinay World Champs confronted each other. Chen called Luz lazy while Luz responded by saying that her teammate was too pushy and domineering.

By the end of the show, it was revealed that Chen and Luz have not spoken to each other since their elimination. It seems that their friendship may have been permanently damaged as Chen also came alone during the show’s launch early this month at Resorts World Manila where the teams were introduced.

Netizens and TAR fans all over the world dubbed the episode as “the most shocking and controversial pit stop episode ever,”. According to US-based website, the episode “made history” and such pit stop exit was “never-before-seen in TAR’s 14 years of existence,”. Local fans also started an online Twitter campaign asking Luz and Chen to make up.

Catch real-life drama, riveting action and adventure in The Amazing Race Philippines 2, 9:00PM daily, exclusively on TV5. The Amazing Race Philippines is powered by Rexona, and sponsored by PLDT Home Telpad, Kia Motors, RCD Royal Homes, Summit Natural Drinking Water, Resorts World Manila, and Shell V Power Nitro Plus.
