ABS-CBN's Original Realiserye 'I Do' Replaces PBB Beginning August 30

Nine couples are about to face a whole new chapter that will change their lives forever. But before they take the big plunge, these couples will embark on a journey that will test their relationships and discover new things about their partners. Will it be an “I Do” or an “I Don’t” for the couples? Join them in ABS-CBN’s newest realiserye “I Do,” which starts airing on August 30 (Saturday).

Throughout the competition, the couples will be tested and guided by host Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo, along with other council members, life coach Pia Acevedo and psychologist and marriage counselor Dr. Julian Montano. Co-host Jason Gainza, meanwhile, will be joining Juday in giving out challenges.

Juday, who has been married for five years with two kids, said she will give advice to the couples based on her personal experience as a wife and mom.

The most challenging thing I do in the show is giving the couples pieces of advice that they can live by. When I accepted this show, I didn’t really know what I was getting into, I was just excited because it’s an original concept. Along the way I became sort of a life coach. It just feels great to be part of a couple’s journey to getting married,” she revealed.

The nine couples will live in three houses inside the “I Do” village, but the women will sleep separately from the men. Juday shared that the program made her realize that the strength of a relationship does not depend on how long a couple has been together.

What’s important to me is that viewers get inspiration from the show. We made this program to inspire people not to jump into certain situations. Lahat ng bagay ngayon dapat pinag-iisipan,” said Juday.

In the program, the couples will be tested through weekly cycles, with a theme each and sessions based on real-life marriage and relationship situations. Each week, the council will decide which couple to eliminate.

Coach Pia shared, “My favorite part about being part of the council is when the contestants just ask for help. They are being themselves, it’s not about the show anymore, and they admit their weakness. I admire them because they let it show. I hope viewers learn from that and face their own barriers when it comes to love.

Dr. Julian, meanwhile, shared that he is amazed by the production staff for conceptualizing creative activities, which he has started using in professional counseling.

I learned a lot not just about delivering the topics and lines, but also in seeing the couples. My one big learning in my experience is focusing on ethical responsibilities. There should always be balance. We open up their emotions and make them realize something. My responsibility is to see to it that we bring them closure,” he said.

The pilot of “I Do” will unveil the love stories of the nine couples, which are comprised of the following: business partners, a Korean-Pinay pair, an engaged couple, high school sweethearts, a couple struggling to confront their haunting past, a couple who have been together for three months, neighbors turned lovers, a couple with a 19-year age gap, and a young pair with a kid.

In the end, the winning couple will be determined by public votes and will bring home P1 million, house and lot, and their dream grand wedding.

Whose love story will get a happy ending?

Don’t miss the premiere of “I Do” with Juday, Jason, coach Pia, and Dr. Julian on August 30 on ABS-CBN.

Orianthi Panagaris, Michael Jackson's Favorite Guitarist, is in Manila for 'Every Road' Concert Series

International country singer-guitarist-composer Orianthi Panagaris arrives in Manila for her 10-day "Every Road" promo tour-slash-concert series.

Performing her rendition of the Richie Sambora's original song “Every Road Leads Home To You” before a number of entertainment press during her August 19 press conference held at the Hard Rock Café in Makati City, Orianthi proves reason why she was personally handpicked by the late King of Pop Michael Jackson to join him in his interrupted "This Is It" concert series in 2009.

Born to a Greek family in southern Australia, Orianthi started playing the guitar at the age of six. Greatly influenced by the legendary Carlos Santana, she would spend hours of learning his solos note for note. And by the age of 15, she left school to pursue her passion. She released her first independent record in 2005 and had an onstage appearance at the Grammy Awards with Carrie Underwood in 2009. Then to her surprise, she was contacted by Michael Jackson for his concert series.

Orianthi has also had the chance to play with other well-known musicians such as Steven Tyler, Alice Cooper, Richie Sambora and Carlos Santana.

Orianthi is set to perform in several venues in Manila until August 27 in line with the release of her very first Best Of… record which is being released in Japan this month. In Manila, Orianthi holds special performances on the following dates: August 25 at the 19 East at Km. 19, East Service Road in Sucat, Paranaque and August 27 at the Hard Rock Café in Makati.

She will also have a radio interview with Captain Eddie on August 23; a guest on GMA-7’s variety show Sunday All Stars on August 24, and MYX music channel on August 26.

ABS-CBN Airs this Sunday the Truth Behind Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr.’s Assassination

ABS-CBN’s internationally-acclaimed documentary on former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr.’s assassination titled “Agosto Beinte-Uno: Ang Pagpatay Kay Ninoy Aquino” airs again this Sunday (August 24) to commemorate one of the country’s biggest events in the history that led to the return of democracy.

The documentary, which was first aired in 2013, received commendations from different award giving bodies, including a Silver World Medal (Graphic Design: Promotion/Open & ID category) and finalist certificate (Television: Documentary/Information Program category) from New York Festivals, and a Silver Screen Award (Television: Documentary Biography category) from US International Film & Video Festival.

More than three decades had passed but Ninoy’s assassination on the tarmac of Manila International Airport last August 21, 1983 has remained to be a huge puzzle for the Filipinos. The documentary, narrated by Jaime Fabregas, has reprised the biggest question of the people in the crime - who killed, or who ordered to kill Ninoy? The documentary also aimed to educate the younger Filipino generation on this historical event.

Among the personalities who joined the painstaking review of the past were Ninoy’s brother Butz Aquino, Ninoy’s eldest daughter Ballsy Aquino, lawyer of one of the accused in the crime Atty. Mario Bautista, forensic expert Raquel Fortun, former defense minister Juan Ponce Enrile, former human rights lawyer Rene Saguisag, journalists tasked to cover the supposed comeback of Ninoy in Philippines Philip Lustre and Recto Mercene, and more.

Time Magazine correspondent Sarah Burton’s sounds on her microcassette recorder, one of the evidences in the crime that has been in the Sandiganbayan’s custody for the past 20 years, was also first heard in this documentary. For the first time, the Sandiganbayan has made the recording available for broadcast via ABS-CBN.

Burton’s recording captured the final seconds of Ninoy before he alighted from the plane, the moment he was shot, and the passengers’ reactions when they realized that the person they had just shared a flight with was already dead.

Don’t miss the award-winning “Agosto Beinte-Uno: Ang Pagpatay kay Ninoy Aquino” this Sunday (Agosto 24), after “Gandang Gabi Vice,” on ABS-CBN’s Sunday’s Best.

Evil Doll 'Annabelle' Movie Trailer, Poster

She terrified you in “The Conjuring,” but this is where it all began for Annabelle. New Line Cinema has just unveiled the main trailer of its upcoming supernatural thriller “Annabelle” which may be viewed below:

Capable of unspeakable evil, the actual Annabelle doll exists locked up in an occult museum in Connecticut - visited only by a priest who blesses her twice a month.

In the film, John Form has found the perfect gift for his expectant wife, Mia - a beautiful, rare vintage doll in a pure white wedding dress. But Mia’s delight with Annabelle doesn’t last long.

On one horrific night, their home is invaded by members of a satanic cult, who violently attack the couple. Spilled blood and terror are not all they leave behind. The cultists have conjured an entity so malevolent that nothing they did will compare to the sinister conduit to the damned that is now...Annabelle.

Annabelle Wallis (“X-Men: First Class”) and Ward Horton (“The Wolf of Wall Street”) star as the Forms. Oscar nominee Alfre Woodard (“12 Years a Slave”) stars as Evelyn, a neighbor who owns a bookstore and is familiar with the occult. Rounding out the cast are Kerry O’Malley (TV’s “Those Who Kill”) and Brian Howe (“Devil’s Knot”) as neighbors Sharon and Pete Higgins; Tony Amendola (TV’s “Once Upon A Time”) as Father Perez; and Eric Ladin (TV’s “Boardwalk Empire,”) as Detective Clarkin.

“Annabelle” reunites the filmmakers behind 2013’s hugely successful supernatural thriller “The Conjuring.” James Wan, director of the global hit, is producing “Annabelle” with Peter Safran. John R. Leonetti, who served as cinematographer on “The Conjuring,” is directing.

Gary Dauberman wrote the script. Richard Brener, Walter Hamada, Dave Neustadter and Hans Ritter are the executive producers. Also joining Leonetti behind the scenes are director of photography James Kniest, production designer Bob Ziembicki, editor Tom Elkins, and costume designer Janet Ingram. Joseph Bishara composed the score.

Opening across the Philippines on October 08, 2014, “Annabelle” is distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment company.

Comedy Movie 'A Million Ways to Die in the West' Showing Exclusively at Ayala Cinemas

Universal Pictures' new comedy “A Million Ways to Die in the West” starring Ted McFarlane, Charlize Theron, Amanda Seyfried, Liam Neeson and Neil Patrick Harris will be shown exclusively at Ayala Malls Cinemas nationwide starting September 10, 2014.

Seth McFarlane (“Ted,” TV's “Family Guy”) once again stretches the boundaries of comedy and propriety as writer, producer, director of and actor in “A Million Ways to Die in the West.” He tells the tale and plays the lead in the story of Albert Stark, a soft man in hard times who is trying to figure out how to escape this godforsaken frontier that seems to be trying to kill him—and everyone else in it—at every turn. A sheep farmer whose fickle girlfriend, Louise (Amanda Seyfried), leaves him when he backs out of a gunfight, Albert feels like a chump.

Adding to Albert's distress and feelings of inadequacy, Louise takes up with the town's most successful businessman, arrogant moustachery owner Foy (Neil Patrick Harris). And what Albert can't dream of offering in terms of financial stability and facial hirsuteness, Foy has in spades.

But when a mysterious and beautiful gunslinger named Anna (Charlize Theron) rides into town, she helps Albert begin to find his courage and they start to fall in unexpected love.

Nothing comes easy in the bitterly unforgiving Old West, and further trouble ensues when Anna's husband, Clinch Leatherwood (Liam Neeson) - a notorious outlaw whose name strikes fear into the hearts of the citizenry - arrives seeking revenge on the man whom he thinks has made a dishonest woman of Anna. Reluctantly, Albert must now put his newfound courage to the test in a one-man-left-standing gunfight that will earn him Anna's hand and long-denied respect in the Wild West...or another unmarked grave forgotten in the annals of history.

Joining Albert in his quest are his best friend, Edward (Giovanni Ribisi), the unfailingly nice and extraordinarily naive town shoe repairman, and Ruth (Sarah Silverman), Edward's girlfriend who is just as chaste with him as she is whorish with her brothel clients.

Directed by MacFarlane from a screenplay that he wrote with Alec Sulkin & Wellesley Wild, “A Million Ways to Die in the West” also co-stars a comedic lineup of MacFarlane favorites including Ralph Garman as Dan, one of the more colorful Old Stump locals, and Alex Borstein as Millie, the madam of the whorehouse who can't quite put her finger on her best employee's oddly chaste relationship with Edward.

Christopher Hagen and Jean Effrion come aboard the production as Albert's grizzled parents, George and Elsie, who are similarly trying to avoid getting killed for merely existing in this day and age. Evan Jones portrays Lewis, a particularly vile member of Clinch's gang.

“A Million Ways to Die in the West” is distributed by United International Pictures through Columbia Pictures.

Delegates of the 30th ACGT Witness 'Galing Ng Pilipino' as Part of TFC Anniversary Showcase

Manila, Philippines – To showcase the greatness or ‘Galing ng Filipino,’ their hospitality (mainit na pagtanggap) and love for fun (pagiging masiyahin), traits which The Filipino Channel TFC) heralds on its anniversary year, the biggest multi-platform Filipino network in the world recently welcomed over 30 delegates of the 9th Ambassadors, Consuls General, Tourism Directors (ACGTD) Tour at their first stop at the ABS-CBN studios.

In pursuit of the Philippine Foreign Service Posts (FSPs) in North America and the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs’ (DFA) banner tourism project, and consistent with co-organizer Department of Tourism’s (DOT) theme “It’s More Fun In the Philippines,” the Philippine Tourism Office (PTO) of the Philippine Consulate in San Francisco drew out a week-long itinerary under the sub-themes Pasaya (entertainment), Paganda (beauty and wellness) and Pasarap (leisure) together with key organizations such as TFC which has been ACGTD’s partner since 2012.

According to Philippine Consulate’s PTO OIC Juan Gabriel Agcaoilli, “The annual ACGTD tour’s purpose is to bring home balikbayans, especially second and third generation Filipino-Americans to visit their homeland so they can experience the culture and heritage (of the land) where their parents grew up and for them to immerse themselves into the culture and fun destinations that their country has to offer.”

As part of the 9th ACGDT’s Pasaya tour which aims to showcase the beauty and culture of the Philippines and let the delegates to reconnect with their culture and roots, the TFC team opened the doors of ABS-CBN and toured them around the studios.  The tour included stops at longest-running news program “TV Patrol” where some delegates played newscaster during the tour; a glimpse of the biggest studio 10 where widely watched “ASAP XV” is staged live every Sunday; DZMM Teleradyo and 630 during “Failon Ngayon” with Ted Failon; and a live guesting at “Ready, Get, MOR” with DJs Papi Charlz and Chikki Boom-boom.

Love For Fun (Pagiging Masiyahin)

As the highlight of their tour, the delegates took stage time at top-rating variety show “It’s Showtime.”  The delegates got to see a ‘sample (word made popular by the show)’ of the Filipino culture as main hosts multi-awarded celebrity Vice Ganda, dynamic duo BillyVhong (international star Billy Crawford and multi-awarded Vhong Navarro), trivia expert Kuya Kim Atiena and returning host Anne Curtis engaged the crowd in an afternoon of music, games, ad libs and gags, showcasing the Filipino talent (Galing ng Filipino) plus love for fun (pagiging masayahin).

The delegates composed of members of the business sector, the academe and community, were in awe of the stars and studios that they could only just see previously on-screen via TFC.  Delegate Kazzandra Ruaro a student from Agana said while their Filipino teacher in the University of Guam required them to join the tour as part of their curriculum, she sees it more as an immersion rather than a requirement.    Ruaro said: “The most important part of it is that it (the tour) creates awareness and shows the young generation a different side of the Filipino, the Philippine culture and the country itself and how it is becoming more modern, especially in

ABS-CBN, how we can use media to our advantage and expose the Philippines in a positive light.”  For Ruaro, media plays an important role in showcasing the Philippines’ best.

Mariezel Pioquinto, a 35-year old student nurse from Emmanuel Hospital in San Francisco affirms this type of exposure as important to the young generation.  “Sa mga new generation, (the importance is) the feeling of getting to know their origin - saan sila galing, why the parents are so attached to the country, kasi kung minsan nawawala na (To the new generation, this exposure is important because they get to know their origin, where they came from and why their parents are so attached.  Sometimes, the connection gets lost).  Pioquinto adds, “Like my children, they don’t feel it (culture) anymore.  I think they do understand the language but they don’t want to speak it.  They say they are just making common sense of what they see on TFC.  They say it’s the scenario (they understand).”  To help address this gap, TFC has programs sub-titled in English for the 2nd generation to understand.

According to Agcaoilli, “The visit to the ABS-CBN studios is the most fun part of the tour.  Like right now (a few minutes before “It’s Showtime” started), the audience is being hyped to dance and sing along with everyone.  This makes it more fun.”

Aside from the tour of ABS-CBN, the delegation also travelled to a local tourism site in Batangas, Southwestern Luzon and Manila Ocean Park in Manila as part of their Pasarap provincial tour, and to a local spa as part of the Paganda component.  The highlight of their tour, aside from the tour of ABS-CBN, is their meet and greet with the highest official of the land, President Benigno “PNoy” Aquino in Malacañan Palace.

Hospitality (Mainit na Pagtanggap)

Agcaoilli said he foresees the ACGTD making ABS-CBN and TFC as a part of the yearly itinerary.  With ABS-CBN TFC’s mission to be the companion of overseas Filipinos in every part of their journey, through a showcase of homegrown programs and the companionship of Kapamilyastars, TFC seems to be the perfect, perennial tour stop.

ABS-CBN TFC’s programs, including “TV Patrol,” “ASAP” and “It’s Showtime” can be seen via TFC’s various platforms worldwide.  “Ready, Get, MOR” can be seen and heard on DZMM Teleradyo and 630 via TFC’s platforms in Middle East, Europe, Australia, Japan and the rest of Asia-Pacific and can be heard in North America.  Connect with fellow global Filipinos, visit www.facebook.com/KapamilyaTFC or follow @KapamilyaTFC on twitter or instagram for updates.

Isabelle de Leon, Katrina Velarde and Lara Maigue Star in TV5's Unique Musical Series 'Trenderas'

All set to take the spotlight every Saturday night are three fresh faces who are definitely raring to showcase to the world their exceptional vocal prowess in TV5’s one-of-a-kind musical-drama-comedy series, “Trenderas”, premiering on September 13 at 9:00PM only on TV5.

Top-billing the Kapatid Network’s newest weekly primetime offering are the talented trio of Isabelle de Leon, Katrina Velarde and Lara Maigue - who play the role of three best friends who make ends meet by selling trinkets on the street. Their shared passion for music and their ultimate dream of one day becoming professional singers are what keep them strong despite their daily struggles in life. “Trenderas” will chronicle their exciting journey to their ultimate goal as they transform from seemingly ordinary ‘tinderas’ to the country’s newest trending sensations.

In real life, while collectively this is indeed their biggest break in showbiz yet, Isabelle, Katrina and Lara have all actually made a name for themselves in the local music industry already.

Isabelle de Leon is a multi-awarded child actress who has played notable roles in various movies and television shows, most notably as the daughter of Vic Sotto in a sitcom before. As a talented singer and composer, she also released her debut album “LoveZone” early last year.

Lara Maigue’s original composition, “Sa’Yo Nalang AKo”, was a Top 5 finalist during the Philpop 2013 competition. The same song was also personally chosen by the Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid to be included in the singer’s latest album. In addition, it was likewise chosen as the official theme song of TV5’s drama primetime series “For Love or Money”.

Katrina Velarde rose to fame when she decided to upload a YouTube video of herself singing in front of a mirror using a hairbrush as the microphone - thus, earning her the nickname “Suklay Diva”. She was also part of two girl groups, the first of which was the “Newborn Divas”, hailed as the 11th Talentadong Pinoy Hall of Famer who also competed in the show’s grand finale. The second group was called “AKA Jam”, which was one of the front-runners in another televised singing competition. The same group was chosen by Gary Valenciano to be the opening act of his 30th Anniversary Concert.

Also joining the cast of “Trenderas” are veteran singer-actors Dingdong Avanzado, Tina Paner and Ara Mina, together with Carl Guevara and Edward Mendez. Meanwhile, sassy comediennes K Brosas, Cacai Bautista and Kitkat will collectively play the role of the “Tres Malditas” - the three main villains who will do anything they can just to take the spotlight and success away from the “Trenderas”.

Ultimately, aside from being a heart-warming story of friendship and family with special musical segments of OPM covers and hits that Filipinos love, “Trenderas” will also captivate the audience with its uniquely aspirational theme that reminds everyone to not be afraid to dream, because one day that dream will eventually come true.

Bb. Pilipinas Universe MJ Lastimosa Admits Plastic Surgery Enhances Her Looks

Binibining Pilipinas–Universe 2014 Mary Jean "MJ" Lastimosa has begun feeling the pressure of bringing home the Miss Universe crown this year. However, she believes that the tension she feels is somehow an edge for her to win the pageant.

"I think it's an advantage. I need that pressure to unleash the best in my performance," she shares in "Tapatan Ni Tunying" airing this Thursday (August 21).

When asked about plastic surgery, MJ also admits in the episode that she has undergone some "enhancements" in her body.

"My teeth and skin were enhanced. I had to undergo laser treatments and the like," she reveals.

She insists that she sees nothing wrong about it because it helps improve one's confidence.

"If it does not give you bad effects, I don't think there is something wrong," MJ explains.

As for "Pinoy Big Brother" ex-housemate Beauty Gonzalez, her transformation from a chubby teenager to a sexy cover girl was a long and hard process.

"We used to eat five times a day. So when I need to lose weight, it was really a challenge. I used to cry while running. I do crossfit, I run, swim, bike, and everything. I have to be disciplined when it comes to eating," Beauty shares.

Beauty says her job is her biggest motivation to keep fit. She simply advises young girls to love their body and just stay healthy.

MJ and Beauty reveal more about their life and career in this episode of "Tapatan ni Tunying."

Marc Pingris and His Story Towards Gilas Pilipinas' 2014 FIBA World Cup

Gilas Pilipinas player Marc Pingris had always wanted to take his annual vacation in France to meet up with his father, Jean Marc Pingris Sr, whom he had only met back in 2007. But for the past two years, he has been unable to do so ever since he was selected by head coach Chot Reyes to play for the national team.

"Nung tumawag sa akin sila coach Chot, tuwang-tuwa talaga ako. Pero medyo may problema kami doon kasi yung araw na ti-next sa akin na August, 'yun din yung araw ng pagpunta namin ng France. So masaya pero nag-iisip ako. Kinausap ko muna Daddy ko. Kinukuha ako sa RP team ganito. Ini-explain ko sa kanya. Ang sabi niya sa akin, 'Huwag mo ako problemahin. Matanda na rin ako. Minsan ka lang mabigyan ng pagkakataon na ganyan. Go ka na.' Nag-thank you ako sa kanya saka ako sumagot kay coach Chot," he said in his Kuwentong Gilas feature.

The sacrifice has paid off for Marc when Gilas Pilipinas made history and booked a slot to the 2014 FIBA World Cup in Spain in last year's FIBA Asia Championship in Manila. And it got much sweeter as part of the tune-up games would be played in France where his dad lives.

As Gilas Pilipinas arrived at Antibes, France last Thursday afternoon, Marc (together with the Sports5 crew) went to nearby Cannes, France and met up with Jean Marc Pingris Sr and his wife.

"It took eight hours for me to get here," Pingris Sr., about his long drive from Normandy to Antibes. "Many, many joy 'coz I am here with you," as he looked on to Marc.

It was a happy moment indeed for Marc as his dad finally saw him over the past weekend in the four-team pocket tournament against France, Australia and Ukraine at the Azure Arena Antibes.

From Antibes, Marc's dad will be flying to Seville, Spain and meet up with Marc's wife Danica and their two kids. Dina Bonnevie, Marc's mother-in-law, will also be there to watch Gilas Plipinas. All of them will be watching the Philippines make its return to the world basketball stage after a 40-year absence. And they will be cheering wildly for Marc.

"Hindi mo ma-explain kung gaano kasaya yung nararamdaman mo. Hindi mo akalain na ganito kaganda ang nangyayari. Parang isang panaginip lang pero totoo," Marc said about the remarkable moments happening in his life.

TV5 will be airing the Gilas Pilipinas tune-up games dubbed "Gilas vs The World" – Gilas Pilipinas vs Angola on August 22 (Friday) at 8pm; Gilas Pilipinas vs Dominican Republic on  August 25  (Monday) at 8pm and Gilas Pilipinas vs Egypton August 26 (Tuesday) at 8pm. TV5 will also be airing Gilas Pilipinas games in the FIBA World Cup in Spain LIVE on FREE TV startingAugust 30.

Maris Racal Dream Wedding Happens Inside PBB House

The parents of PBB housemate Maris Racal, on Tuesday, got married inside Pinoy Big Brother house. The wedding was officiated by Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista.

On Tuesday episode of ABS-CBN reality show, "Big Brother" told the remaining 5 housemates to get dressed to witness a wedding. Unknown to Maris, her dream of seeing her parents Henry and Leony finally exchange vows was about to unfold.

To Maris' shock, her siblings emerged to join the ceremony in the activity area, giving her a hint on the event that was about to happen. Shortly after Henry's entrance, Leony walked down the aisle.

In the Monday episode of "Pinoy Big Brother," Henry said he and Leony have not shared a room together for years, believing it is a sin that they raised a family despite not being married.

Henry said this has strained their relationship.

Henry assured Maris, who earlier admitted that she no longer feels her parents love each other, that the situation in their home will get better once the issue is sorted.
