Kaso lang meron na siyang iba. Kaso lang ang ka-duet niya si Ate Kathryn [Bernardo] at hindi ako,” she adds.

When it Anne whom she described as “yung mataas kumanta pero nasisintunado,” Lyca said that it will be fine with her to sing along with her even if she is “nasisintunado?”

Opo kaya kong kantahin ang mga kanta niya,” Lyca boasts even sampling off the highest part in “Alone,” which happens to be one of the It’s Showtime hosts “anthems.”

“Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” Before and After Photos

Disney has just shared the wacky, before-and-after payoff posters of “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day,” the first live-action film adaptation of Judith Viorst’s 1972 illustrated children’s classic.

Steve Carell (“The Way, Way Back,” “Little Miss Sunshine” ) and Jennifer Garner (“Dallas Buyers Club, “Juno”) star as Alexander’s upbeat parents. The veteran performers are joined in the film by a trio of young talents that includes 16-year-old Dylan Minnette (“Lost,” “Prisoners”) as Alexander’s older brother, Anthony; 15-year-old Kerris Dorsey (“Moneyball”) as sister Emily; and 12-year-old Australian native Ed Oxenbould (Oz TV’s “Puberty Blues”), who makes his big-screen feature debut as the film’s title character, Alexander.

Disney’s “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” follows the exploits of 11-year-old Alexander (Oxenbould) as he experiences the most terrible and horrible day of his young life—a day that begins with gum stuck in his hair, followed by one calamity after another. But when Alexander tells his upbeat family about the misadventures of his disastrous day, he finds little sympathy and begins to wonder if bad things only happen to him. He soon learns that he’s not alone when his mom (Garner), dad (Carell), brother (Minnette) and sister (Dorsey) all find themselves living through their own terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. Anyone who says there is no such thing as a bad day just hasn't had one.

Opening across the Philippines on Oct. 15, 2014, “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International through Columbia Pictures.

JM de Guzman Resurface from Drug Addiction, Features in "Ipaglaban Mo" this Saturday

After admitting on his interview with Boy Abunda on The Buzz last Sunday that he went on drugs and healed from rehab, young actor JM de Guzman finally makes his acting comeback on television via the hit legal drama anthology “Ipaglaban Mo” this Saturday (August 9).

In the said episode, JM (Andoy) plays a fish porter, who led 30 of his co-workers in a labor rights protest and filed a complaint against their employer for not giving them special pays and incentives despite having worked at the company for three years.

As a result, Andoy and his group were fired from their jobs, but they continued their legal battle. They sued the company again for illegal dismissal and violation of Article 118 of the Labor Code, which states that it is unlawful for employers to discharge any employee who has filed any complaint against them.

The Labor Arbiters took the side of the employer, but the National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) reversed the first decision and ordered the management to give the fish porters their job back, pay their back wages, and grant them special pays and incentives.

However, the employer then filed a petition with the Supreme Court to junk the NLRC’s decision. What was the final decision of the court in this case? Did Andoy and his co-workers find justice after the twist and turns of their battle for their rights?

Also joining the cast in this week’s episode titled “Ibigay Ang Aming Karapatan,” directed by Garry Fernando, are Yam Concepcion, Leo Rialp, Bryan Santos, Ketchup Eusebio, and Janus del Prado.

Don’t miss “Ipaglaban Mo,” the drama anthology that empowers Filipinos with knowledge of their legal rights and obligations, hosted by Atty. KathNiel, JulQuen, and Other World-Class Kapamilya Stars Showcase Pinoy Talents in TFC 20th Anniversary

London, UK - As ABS-CBN's The Filipino Channel (TFC) celebrates its 20th anniversary and as the Philippine Centre marks its 30th, the two industry movers presented the biggest ensemble of stars and the grandest showcase of Filipino talent at the "2014 Barrio Fiesta sa London" last July 19 and 20 at the Apps Court Farm near Hampton Court Palace in London, United Kingdom (UK).

From its humble beginnings as a picnic in Holland Park in London, Philippine Centre's "Barrio Fiesta sa London" has become the most anticipated Filipino gathering in UK and, together with TFC, has drawn record crowds throughout the years by providing a world-class Filipino entertainment platform and a dazzling display of Filipino culture and tradition.

"Barrio Fiesta sa London has consistently been a success throughout the years because it has remained true to its vision of being Europe's premier event hub in celebrating Filipino artistic and cultural  pride as well as  in showcasing the dynamic presence of Filipinos in the continent," said ABS-CBN Europe, Ltd. Managing Director Edgardo Garcia. "TFC is delighted and honored to partner with the Philippine Centre and grateful to all the sponsors, vendors, exhibitors, public officials, performers, volunteers and attendees without whose invaluable support the vision of the Barrio Fiesta sa London would not be realized."

Galing ng Filipino, Ituloy Mo!

This year's London Barrio Fiesta brought together the biggest names in Philippine entertainment to showcase what TFC's anniversary believes in, the "Galing ng Filipino."

As part of its 20th year, TFC brought no less than its anniversary ambassador Gary Valenciano for the two-day festivities.  Singing the song that brought memories of the homeland to the crowd was his gigantic hits including, "Babalik Ka Rin," and the TFC 20 theme song, "Galing ng Filipino."  Addressing the sea of Filipinos at the event, Valenciano said, "Kayong mga nandito ngayon, parang iba't-ibang isla sa Pilipinas.  There are 7,100 islands that make up the Philippines - I know you're from different places – Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao - and I want to hear you sing ('Babalik Ka Rin')."

Joining in the singing was ABS-CBN Corporation President and Chief Operating Officer Charo Santos – Concio who even moved along Valenciano's dance tunes.  Santos was joined by other ABS-CBN executives including Star Cinema Managing Director Malou Santos and ABS-CBN Regional News Bureau Chief Danny Buenafe

Also joining Valenciano for the two-day fiesta and hosting the event is Pokwang, who could relate to Valenciano's song as she used to be an overseas Filipino herself before she became a comedienne and a household name.  Pokwang surprised the crowd by role-playing as Darna and Supergirl the next day.

"Got to Believe's" Chichay Kathryn Bernardoalso took on a different persona in her first "Barrio Fiesta sa London" as she sang theJessie J hit "Price Tag" to which the audience sang along.   Following Bernardo's surprise song number, her equally famous love team Daniel Padilla performed Rey Valera's 70s hit "Ayos Lang."     The immensely popular duo dubbed, KathNiel, thrilled the audience with a duet of the Kuh Ledesma original "Till I Met You" from their current international film hit, "She's Dating The Gangster."

From one teleserye hit to another, Jessy Mendiola reprised her role as "Maria Mercedes" in one sizzling number.  Sam Milbyraised the shriek decibel level with his acoustic number and band medley.  Enchong Dee wowed the crowd with a boy band medley complete with costume changes for each number.

On day two of "Barrio Fiesta sa London," Valenciano was joined by Pokwang, Padilla and Bernardo for a second round withKapamilya heartthrobs Rayver Cruz andShaina Magdayao who joined forces for an explosive "Hangover" (Psy and Snoop Dogg original) dance number.  In her solo number, Magadayao held her own as she performed the dance hits, Zedd and Hayley Williams ofParamore's "Are You Gonna Stay Tonight?" and Cash Cash's "Take Me Home."

Injecting thrills into the second day was theQuenLia loveteam from the teleserye hit "Mirabella."   Enrique Gil electrified the stage with his signature moves as he didKesha and Pit Bull's "Timber" dance.  Julia Barretto, immaculate in a full white ensemble, sang like an angel as she rendered the theme from the serye and the Jamie Rivera original "I've Fallen For You."

Galing ng Samahan

The Philippine Centre headed by hermano mayor Joseph Parinas has been organizing the "Barrio Fiesta" in partnership with TFC in Europe, headed by Garcia, since 2010 to bring together all Filipinos and Filipinos-at-heart in UK and nearby countries, for a two-day event that replicates the elements of a Philippine fiesta, as its name connotes.

PariƱas said: "Year after year, I continue to be surprised at how Filipinos gather at every opportunity like a real family.  And like family, Philippine Centre and TFC have been joining hands to deliver the 'Barrio Fiesta sa London.'  This year showcases not only the Filipino talent but this kind of samahan or partnership.  We hope to do this in more years to come."

Aside from the celebrity showcase, the "Barrio Fiesta sa London" also offered Filipino activities such as games and promos and treats, including meet and greets and a food fiesta.

Showing that the event not only offers fun but also funds to Filipino causes, the Philippine Centre turned over to Charo Santos-Concio a donation of GBP3,000 for ABS-CBN Foundation's Sagip Kapamilya, a program dedicated to relief operations during calamities and rehabilitation projects.

Every year, TFC and Philippine Centre bring Filipinos in UK and nearby countries together and become purveyors of the best of the Filipino, all in the spirit of community and in honor of the 'Galing ng Filipino.'

Tune Group’s Announces New CEO Tan Hong Kheng

The Tune Group Sdn Bhd recently announced the appointment of its new Chief Executive Officer Tan Hong Kheng.
Tan Hong Kheng admits that he needs little time to blend in into his new role, thanks to his long association with the Group.

The wonderful support and strong sense of camaraderie among everyone in the Group has made settling into my new role very smooth,” said Hong Kheng.

In his previous capacity Hong Kheng had been responsible to oversee investments by the CIMB Group since 2007 in Tune Money and Tune Ins Holdings Berhad.

For me, the timing is right as the Group enters and undergoes this terrific growth phase with many exciting opportunities ahead. The businesses in the Group may be varied but we have a coherent and cohesive lifestyle brand. There is a unique culture here and that is what I find very fascinating. I feel very welcome and very much at home,” said the former banker.

Tune Group is a lifestyle business conglomerate founded by Tan Sri Tony Fernandes and Datuk Kamarudin Meranun. The Tune Group companies are Tune Air (a substantial shareholder of low cost carrier AirAsia Group), Tune Hotels, Tune Money, Tune Insurance, Tune Talk, Think BIG Digital, Tune Box, Tune Studios, Queens Park Rangers Football Club (QPR) and the Epsom College in Malaysia.

He added: “We are now housing all Tune Group companies under one roof at Wisma Tune (formerly known as Menara PNB Damansara) at Jalan Dungun in Damansara Heights and this is a tremendous opportunity for all the businesses to build on our strengths together, capitalising on each other’s experiences, networks, niches and advantages.”

Tune Hotels is continuing with its rapid expansion in Malaysia and abroad, chalking up seven million guests now and growing; while Tune Insurance is gaining a foothold as the preferred lifestyle and travel insurance brand. More Malaysians than ever are using Tune Talk Mobile Prepaid and AirAsia BIG Loyalty Programme is gaining good momentum. Epsom College in Malaysia is coming along nicely for its launch in September and it will have some of the most excellent schooling facilities around with all its academic staff being specially selected UK teachers,” he said.

We see so much potential in everyone and to harness everyone’s talents and energies to bring about synergies, including with the AirAsia Group and QPR, would be fantastic. This can only benefit our other Group members,” he added.

In his new role, Hong Kheng oversees the reporting and performance structures of the various businesses within Tune Group and monitors the strategic direction and execution of those businesses. This is on top of overseeing corporate finance and strategy for Tune Group and enhancing the capital structures for the Group.

Hong Kheng started assuming the role as CEO of Tune Group in May 2014. The position was newly created. He was also redesignated as the Executive Director of the Group’s listed insurance holding company, Tune Ins Holdings Berhad on 1 July 2014.

Hong Kheng was previously with the CIMB Group where he had spent 18 years in various capacities, including his last as the Group General Counsel. He was responsible in setting up and leading CIMB Group’s Special Situation Investments department in 2006 and was appointed Executive Director of PT CIMB Niaga Securities Indonesia in 2003. With CIMB Group, Hong Kheng had had broad cross-departmental experiences including in the areas of principal investing, investment banking, corporate finance and capital markets.

Hong Kheng holds a Bachelor of Economics (Accounting major) and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Monash University, Australia. He was called to the Malaysian Bar and was a practising lawyer prior to joining the corporate world.

Hong Kheng is also a member of CPA Australia. He earned his Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business on a corporate scholarship.
