Ferring Pharmaceuticals Arrives in the Philippines; Offers an Affordable and Safe Reproductive Health Care

Jane Villablanca - GM Ferring Phil and Michel Petttigrew - Pres and COO Ferring

In an industry as competitive, challenging and risky as the pharmaceutical business, Ferring Pharmaceuticals distinguishes itself from the rest by putting people ahead of profit.

Established against the backdrop of the Second World War, Dr Frederik Paulsen, fled from Germany as a student, eventually arriving in Sweden where he established Nordiska Hormon Laboratoriet in 1950. The company would later be known as Ferring with Dr Paulsen and wife Eva becoming the first scientists to synthesize peptides by producing adrenocorticotrophin hormone (ACTH), or stress hormone.

This discovery made the company a pioneer in developing and selling pharmaceutical products based upon natural, pituitary-produced peptide hormones.

Choosing to remain under the radar of “big pharma” (referring to companies with revenue in excess of $3 billion, and/or research and development expenditure in excess of $500 million), it was only in 1988, when Dr. Paulsen’s youngest son Frederik Paulsen, assumed the position as chief executive and led the company’s worldwide expansion.

Ferring first established a research group in San Diego in 1996, recognizing the vibrant opportunities in the region. Since establishing a presence in San Diego, Ferring has been able to assemble a world-class peptide research organization and establish collaborations with leading academic scientists.

The Ferring Research Institute moved to its new home in San Diego in February 2009 with the opening of a 38,000-square-foot facility in Sorrento Valley. The new state-of-the art facility research houses expanded research laboratories for peptide medicinal chemistry, biochemistry, bioanalytical, and pharmacology.

In recent years, Ferring has expanded beyond its traditional European base: with over 4,500 employees worldwide, it operates subsidiaries in 55 countries and makes its products available in more than 100 countries.

Now based from a global hub in Switzerland Ferring develops innovative products in the four therapy areas of reproductive health, urology, gastroenterology, endocrinology and As a private, research-driven specialty biopharmaceutical company Ferring is committed to building a portfolio of novel, innovative peptide therapeutics to address areas of high unmet medical need..

Ferring's Expertise

The World Health Organization estimates that there are about 60 to 80 million cases of infertility around the world.

As opportunities arise in their careers, more women are waiting longer to have children. Due to this trend in the delay of pregnancy until an older age, up to a quarter of all couples may experience problems in conceiving a child.

Treatment of infertility is one of Ferring's key areas of expertise and it is committed to progress in the field of Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART).

Ferring's female healthcare portfolio consists of traditional highly purified and standardized human-derived products at every stage of the reproductive cycle to ensure better maternal health and safe child birth. Clinical studies and years of use have shown that Ferring's hormonal therapies are effective and offer a good safety profile. Ferring looks to become the market leader in reproductive health care through its products for infertility and obstetrics.

Ferring in the Philippines

Now, Filipino couples who are having problems conceiving children need not go abroad, or spend more on acquiring Ferring’s products as the Company opened its Philippine offices at the Ecotower building, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

The formal inauguration was graced by Michel Pettigrew, President and Chief Executive Officer who flew all the way from Switzerland together with other esteemed Ferring executives Ralph Diehl, trusted Consultant, Alex Chang, Senior Vice President for Asia Pacific, BingMei Hao, Regional Finance Controller, Jareen Yao, Associate Director of Business Excellence, and Ming Yip, Regional Senior Director for South East Asia.

They were formally welcomed by Ferring Philippines General Manager, Ms. Jane Villablanca together with industry partners and key opinion leaders from the various specialty medical The company’s philosophy is ‘People come first at Ferring’. “We live it every day of the week,” said Pettigrew. “We have a respect for all stakeholders – whether the patients, to ensure they get the care they deserve; the medical community or our employees. We expect our employees to take on a lot of responsibility – it’s a great place to work.

It has been more than six decades, yet that same passion of Dr. Paulsen continues, as Ferring Pharmaceuticals proudly carries on a culture of enterprise driven by science, not profit..

We’re privately owned by one man who has a strong belief that science must advance,” shared Pettigrew, his father’s vision still guides the company’s business today, and science remains at the heart of what it accomplishes.

Shaina Magdayao Kills Her Stalker in "Ipaglaban Mo"

Shaina Magdayao (Shirley) plays the character of a woman who accidentally killed her perverted stalker, portrayed by Jhong Hilario (Erwin), in “Ipaglaban Mo” this Saturday (June 21).

Erwin was an earnest suitor of Shirley. Despite Shirley’s overt rejections, Erwin remained persistent until his love for Shirley turned into an obsession. Erwin became so desperate that he even climbed up her house through her bedroom window and attempted to rape her. He would also follow her wherever she goes.

Traumatized, Shirley decided to bring a knife to protect herself just in case Erwin would try to harass her again.

One day, Erwin sat beside her at a church service, and then touched her in her private parts. That incident provoked Shirley to threaten Erwin with her knife. However, Erwin forcibly grabbed the knife from her, and Shirley accidentally stabbed him in the neck.

Erwin’s mother filed charges against Shirley for her son’s death. How would Shirley fight for her rights as an abused woman? If the court decides against her, would she be given a lighter punishment?

Fourteen Artist Center talents – Kris Bernal, Steven Silva, Enzo Pineda, Mike Tan, Ryza Cenon, Ashley Nordstrom, Kevin Santos, Joyce Ching, Krystal Reyes, Stephanie Sol, Zandra Summer, Hiro Peralta, Juancho Trivino, and Rita Iringan – took part in the activity which saw them repainting the doors, walls, and window grills of the classrooms a few days before the opening of classes for the current school year.

Faculty members together with several students present were all excited as they watched their favorite Kapuso stars up close with their sleeves up, to get some serious repainting job done.

While painting, the GMA Artist Center talents would stop every so often to have photo ops with the students and teachers. After the painting session, on a stage set up in front of the classrooms, the GMA Artist Center Talents also helped out in distributing the snacks to the students and staff.

GMA Artist Center’s Pintura Eskwela was made possible through the help of Davies Paint, OK Quench orange juice and Minute Burger.

PBB All In Heartbreaking Video: Joshua Garcia's Daddy Geo Enters PBB House

Source: www.abs-cbnnews.com

Geo Garcia, the father of PBB All In teen housemate Joshua Garcia couldn't hold back tears after he was allowed by Big Brother to see his son inside the PBB house to give advice regarding his son's ongoing "love triangle" woes involving teens Loisa Andalio and actress Jane Oineza.

"Pumayat ka ah, parang puso lang ang tumataba," Geo said upon seeing his son, who was asked to freeze in his position for the duration of his father's visit.

Daddy Geo went on to warn his son about the dangers of falling in love easily and the importance of standing up for himself, especially when it comes to charting his own future.

As the father and son shared the touching moment, several housemates, including Jane and Loisa, were seen to be turning visibly emotional. Celebrity teen housemate Nichole Baranda couldn't hold back the sobs.

"I love you anak," Geo said, before kissing his son the cheek as he made his way back to the house's confession room.

Moments after, Joshua was crowded by his fellow housemates. Each tried to console the teenager, while also trying to wipe away their own tears.

This is the second time Joshua was visited by one of his parents. Last month, he was visited by his mother Fe, whom he hasn't seen since he was 5 years old.

Donnalyn Bartolome "Kakaibabe" Music Video and Lyrics

Swerte mo kung mapagbibigyan
Ingatan mo ang pag-ibig ng
Isang kakai-babe4x
Pag natagpuan wag nang pakawalan
Minsan lang makahanap ng isang
Kakai-babe 4x

Simple,walang arte

Isang kakai-babe4x
Pag natagpuan wag nang pakawalan
Minsan lang makahanap ng isang
Kakai-babe 4x

TV5 International Continues to Gain Global Success

Kapatid Network’s top programs garner unprecedented global success

While it is widely known that TV5 is in fact the ‘fastest growing broadcasting network in the Philippines’, TV5 International has meanwhile taken the responsibility of translating this already remarkable title to the global stage - and rightfully so!

In just a short span of three years, TV5 International has already successfully distributed some of the Kapatid Network’s most-watched programs all over the world, including, most recently, the various key territories in the African region, as well as to the Philippines’ neighboring Asian countries.

TV5 International President and CEO Claro Carmelo Ramirez notes, “Since 2011, side-by-side with our commitment in bringing the Kapatid Network’s top programs to every Filipino household all over the world, TV5 International has also made it its mission to proudly introduce our various programs - and in turn, showcase the Pinoy talent - in the international scene. So far, the positive feedback of the global market to our various offerings has confirmed that our programs are indeed world-class.”

As it is, key African markets have continuously clamored and demanded for more TV5 shows, after widely accepting programs like “Handful of Tears” (Isang Dakot na Luha), “Roses and Thorns” (Mga Nagbabagang Bulaklak), “The Poor Heiress” (Babaeng Hampaslupa), “Glamorosa”, and “Valiente”.

In addition, regional viewers from nearby Asian countries like Cambodia, Brunei, Malaysia and Vietnam, have also been in awe of the Kapatid Network’s shows after commissioning the titles “Felina”, “Cassandra”, “Third Eye”, “Enchanted Garden”, “Undercover” and "Misibis Bay".

Non-Pinoy viewers have appreciated what TV5 International has to offer because time and again, we have proven that the Kapatid Network’s programs are different, innovative, and ultimately entertaining. Further, with the international community’s wide acceptance of our programs and admiration of the talent of our TV5 artists, this has solidified our future plans in forging even more partnerships with more networks in other parts of the world,” shares Ramirez.

Dennis Trillo and Bela Padilla Turn Doctor-Philanthropist in GMA News TV's Medical Series "Sa Puso Ni Dok"

Kapuso actor Dennis Trillo a new tandem in the person of Bela Padilla.

In GMA TV's newest medical series titled "Sa Puso ni Dok," Dennis and Bela played two doctors with who find solace by helping people in need of medical help in far rural areas.
