Kim Chiu Weds Jake Cuenca, Trends on Twitter

ABS-CBN’s master teleserye “Ikaw Lamang” has continuously kept TV viewers at the edge of their seats as its highly-anticipated ‘The Wedding’ episode recently won the ratings game and conquered social networking sites.

Base on data from Kantar Media last Thursday (May 1), “Ikaw Lamang’s” episode, where Gonzalo (John Estrada) stopped the supposed wedding of Coco Martin and Kim Chiu’s characters Samuel and Isabelle, got a national TV rating of 29.7%. It scored almost 14 points higher than its rival program in GMA “Carmela” which only got 16.1%. Because of the intensifying scenes in ‘The Wedding’ episode, netizens also flooded the popular microblogging site Twitter with emotional tweets, and made the hashtag #IkawLamangTilDeathDoUsPart and the names of the characters Samuel, Isabelle, Franco (Jake Cuenca), and Gonzalo (John Estrada) nationwide trending topics. Meanwhile, TV viewers will surely be more hooked in “Ikaw Lamang” now that Isabelle has been forced by her father to marry Franco instead.

How will Isabelle be able to start the new chapter in her life with Franco when she finds out what happened to Samuel? Will Samuel finally give up his love for Isabelle now that she is already Franco’s wife? Don’t miss the heart-pounding scenes in the timeless master teleserye, “Ikaw Lamang” weeknights after “Dyesebel” on ABS-CBN Primetime Bida. "One of The Boys" Character Descriptions and Photos

At 9pm on Saturday, May 3, TV5 premieres its newest weekend primetime sitcom offering entitled "One of the Boys."

One of the Boys is top-billed by veteran actor and comedian Joey de Leon, who officially makes his much-awaited sitcom comeback after a long 7-year absence.

As Daddy Jerry ‘DJ’ Silang, Joey plays the lead role of a hardworking and single father to his three young children.  A former London-based OFW, Daddy Jerry is also regarded as a ‘second father’ by the other people around him, including his small group of workers, known as the ‘talyer boys’, in his automotive shop.

In the show, Joey has a close relationship with his only daughter, played by the talented and versatile actress Eula Caballero as Gabriella ‘Gabi’ Silang.

Eula’s character, who grew up as the only girl in the company of boys, is known as an excellent mechanic and driver, and eventually took it upon herself to be a professional taxi driver.

Viewers will also be excited to see a whole new side of the five hunks who compose the popular group Juan Direction, as they make their official acting debut in One of the Boys. In their first-ever foray into comedy, the Brinoys (half-British, half-Pinoys) –led by Dan Marsh as Daniel Lennon, together with Charlie Sutcliffe as Charlie McCartney, Michael McDonnell as Michael Harrison and Brian Wilson as Brian Starr – play a group of spoiled brats who were sent to the Philippines by the parents of Charlie (the former employers of Daddy Jerry back in London) to undergo “DJ’s lecture of life”. During their stay in the country, the Brinoys will be experiencing firsthand the simple Pinoy life and the important values and lessons that go along with it. Meanwhile, Henry Edwards as Henry Potter, is a champion racecar driver and plays the key role as the former-bestfriend-turned-rival of Dan.

The sitcom also features the unfolding love story between the tomboyish-acting, but undeniably charming character of Eula and the bratty leader of the Brinoy hunks, played by Dan Marsh. What is initially a cat-and-mouse relationship will eventually transform into what viewers can expect to be their source of weekly of kilig and enjoyment, whenever these two have a scene together.

Also, as no lead character is complete without a sidekick, the funny antics in One of the Boys will be in full display with the comedic tandem of Joey de Leon and Empoy as Aga, who plays a member of the ‘tropang talyer’ who has also secretly developed a crush on Gabi. Rounding up the main cast of One of the Boys are Kapatid Stars Nadine Samonte as Jana Halliwel, and Artista Academy’s Benjo Leoncio as Marvic.

Catch the premiere of TV5’s newest primetime sitcom, One of the Boys, tonight only on TV5.

“X-Men: Days of Future Past” (3D) Caught in the Midst and Aftermath of War

Bryan Singer returns to the franchise he helped launched in “X-Men: Days of Future Past.”  Singer brings the X-Men crew for an audacious, time travelling adventure in ‘Days of Future Past’ where the future is dark for the heroes of the X-Men saga. A years-long world conflict between humans and mutants has taken its toll on their numbers, and now a scant few remain, including Professor Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart), Erik “Magneto” Lehnsherr (Ian McKellen), Kitty Pryde (Ellen Page), and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman). Driven to near extinction by the technological terrors unleashed by Bolivar Trask (Peter Dinklage), the team forms a desperate plan: time travel.

Using Kitty Pryde’s powers, Wolverine’s consciousness will be sent back into his younger self in the 1970s, where he’ll have to track down and help the First Class versions of the characters in order to stop Trask. But that will be even harder than it sounds, as in this era, the X-Men team is just as disparate, with Professor Xavier (James McAvoy) and the rest either at odds or in a low ebb. Can the younger versions of the mutants save their future?

Based on Chris Claremont, John Byrne and Terry Austin’s “Days Of Future Past” storyline from the “Uncanny X-Men” comic title, scribe Simon Kinberg adapted it into the movie which allows him and Singer to draw on their shared love of time travel films. Once Kinberg and Singer seized on the Future Past plot as a jumping-off point, the possibilities were endless. “Bryan and I spent months revising the script together,” Kinberg recalls.

Additionally, Singer relates on how he was drawn to the movie, “It happened over dinner, where Simon (Kinberg, writer/producer) said there was a desire on the part of him and Matthew Vaughn, who was going to direct, to explore a way to incorporate the two casts. And I said, "The only thing I can think of is time travel, and there's a precedent for it in the comic book." I started to talk about different ways we could do that with Simon.  He took those ideas back to Matthew and they began the early development of the script. When Matthew left the project, I then began trying to figure out how to crack the time travel and what would be our conceit for it. It was once I figured that out that I felt, ‘Okay, I'm ready to tell this story.’Time travel stories are their own genre; they're very specific. You have to create a set of rules, like how the past affects the future, and then you have to stick to them. Once I figured out the mechanism by which to do it, I warmed up to the notion very quickly. Plus, I very much wanted a chance to work with this new cast as a director becausethey only knew me as a producer and writer before.  It also gave me a chance to work with my friends who were in the earlier pictures. It was a wonderful experience and everybody had a really great time, which was nice.”

The Sentinels, being a big part of the story have been quite a challenge to create.  The director further shares that, “There are movies like Transformers, Iron Man and Pacific Rim that have already explored robots of all different sizes and shapes and scope and calibre. I knew that I didn’t want to make just another film where a robot attacks people, yet they are an element in the picture. They serve the story in an interesting way, and not necessarily in an obvious rock-em-sock-em battle robots way – although there is some of that too!”  And on dealing with the Sentinels, Singer has also taken into consideration the diversity of using mutant powers in the film.  “In the movie, Wolverine goes on the physical journey, but it's Xavier who goes on the emotional one. He's reached a particular low; he's lost a great deal and it's basically a journey of redemption for himself and for his relationship with Raven.  So we had to have a diversity of powers. I didn't have a Nightcrawler this time, so I decided Blink would be this movie's version of that. I like Warpath as a character, there's a lot of heart in him, and Sunspot is really cool and stunning visually. And Bishop is a strong character, and Bishop has something for the fans here that we haven't seen before.”

“X-Men: Days of Future Past” (3D) opens May 21 in theaters nationwide from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.

The sequel, in which Spider-Man faced off against super villains Electro and Green Goblin, surpassed the first two-day box office receipts of previous record-holder “Iron Man 3” (P110.9-M), as well as recent superhero blockbusters, namely “Marvel's The Avengers” (P100.8-M), “Man of Steel” (P92.7-M), “The Amazing Spider-Man” (P85.6-M), “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” (P53.8-M), “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” (P49.3-M) and “The Dark Knight Rises” (P36.6-M).

“Amazing 2” has already captured an impressive overseas gross of more than $155 million in just two weeks, and is expected to claim an opening of $100 million in the U.S. this weekend.

In the Philippines, the largest earnings were posted by SM Mall of Asia at P6-M, followed by SM North EDSA, P5.59-M and SM Megamall, P5.54-M.

But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: Oscorp.

Shalala vs. Iwa Moto in Celebrity Dance Battle Cycle 2 Finals

The Cycle 2 Finals of Celebrity Dance Battle this Saturday, May 3, will be one intense showdown as Iwa Moto and Shalala battle it all out on the dance floor.

Fresh from her participation in a TV5 International activity in Dubai where she had a minor accident during her onstage performance, Iwa Moto had to convince her doctor to allow her to participate in the coming Celebrity Dance Battle Cycle 2 Finals. Iwa also had to quickly adjust and adapt to her new dance partner since her dance partner from the start of Celebrity Dance Battle fell ill during the time of their rehearsals. All these complications only prove how dedicated and serious Iwa is not only for her love for dancing but, moreover, for her showbiz comeback. On the other hand, Shalala worked doubly hard in order to show that a comedian like him can also be serious, especially now that he has discovered and developed his fascination for dancing.

To emerge as the Cycle 2 winner, Iwa and Shalala will have to get the nod of approval of the Celebrity Dance Battle judges, composed of Dance Guru Douglas Nierras, Dancing Queen Edna Ledesma, Dance Diva G. Toengi and America’s Next Top Model Runner-up Allison Harvard.

Hosted by THE one and only dance goddess of Philippine television, Ms Lucy Torres-Gomez, and Semerad twins, Anthony and David, Celebrity Dance Battle’s Cycle 2 Finals will air at 8pm this Saturday, May 3.
