TV5 Airs "March Madness Final Four" Games Live this Sunday, April 6

These are basketball games that are not to be missed as the NCAA March Madness comes to its penultimate games on TV5 and on PLDT Home Fibr this Sunday, April 6

The Final Four teams clash starting at 6AM (Manila time) from the AT&T Stadium in North Texas with top-seed Florida taking on a UConn and Kentucky clashing against Wisconsin in the 830AM game.

The only remaining top-seeded team, the Florida Gators, is the favorite to win after an impressive 30-game winning streak during the colleagiate season. Coach Billy Donovan has the team running well both in offense and defense. Meanwhile, second-year coach and NBA veteran Kevin Ollie has the UConn Huskies peaking at the right time in the tournament. It has the right combo of agile forwards teaming up with offensive magician Shabazz Napier and they hope to capture the national title they last won in 2011.

In the other match-up, the Wisconsin Badgers has finally given coach Bo Ryan his first trip to the Final Four and he will rely on Franck Kaminsky, who has been an offensive force and dubbed as the best player in the tournament so far. The Kentucky Wildcats, with four freshman starters led by Julius Randle and twins Andrew & Aaron Harrison, will hope to give coach John Calipari his second national title in three seasons.

The winners of the matchups will face each other for the national title on Tuesday, April 8. The game will also air live on TV5 starting at 9AM. This exciting hardcourt action will also be streamed to PLDT HOME Fibr subscribers through TVolution live and video-on-demand via marchmadness.pldthome.com.

Peter Parker's Greatest Battle Begins in “The Amazing Spiderman 2”

Peter Parker's Greatest Battle Begins in “The Amazing Spiderman 2”

Columbia Pictures brings to the screen The Amazing Spider-Man 2™ after launching a new chapter in the hero’s story in 2012 with The Amazing Spider-Man™, a global blockbuster that went on to take in over $750 million at the worldwide box office.

Starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Campbell Scott, Embeth Davidtz, Colm Feore, with Paul Giamatti and Sally Field, the film is directed by Marc Webb and Produced by Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach. Screenplay by Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci & Jeff Pinkner. Screen Story by Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci & Jeff Pinkner and James Vanderbilt. Based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.

We wanted this film to be more playful, more fun,” says director Marc Webb, who returns to the helm. Capturing Peter Parker’s natural wit – especially as Spider-Man – was one of the keys to the film that Webb wanted to make. “You look at the comic books and you see it – his quips, his funniness, his lighthearted qualities. That’s part of what so many people love about Spider-Man – and certainly what I love about him.

But it’s not all fun and games for Peter. His vow to keep his fellow New Yorkers safe will lead him right into the heart of the most powerful and important company in New York: Oscorp. The company that once employed Peter’s father and played a role in his parents’ disappearance now seems to be behind new enemies that are emerging, all of whom have advanced technology and powers. “The stakes have never been higher for both Spider-Man and Peter than they are in this movie,” says producer Matt Tolmach. “Spider-Man, because he is facing enemies that have joined forces against him – all with some connection to Oscorp – and Peter, because the choices he makes and the promises he tries to keep have real consequences.

In this Spider-Man film, it’s clear that Spider-Man loves being Spider-Man,” says producer Avi Arad. “As in all Spider-Man movies, being a hero clashes with Peter Parker’s everyday life and wishes. A major villain emerges and it is Oscorp. His life, his father’s life, Harry’s life and all the villains emanate from this tower of evil. The stakes are higher as Peter finds himself up against an institution that is all-powerful.”

Oscorp was built for a single purpose – to preserve Norman Osborn’s life,” says Webb. “He has a terrible disease, and the wealth of the company has been used to create the company’s Special Projects division – crazy solutions to a very simple problem. But Norman Osborn is not an ethical man, and in Special Projects there exist a lot of hidden, dark, nasty things that the rest of us do not want to see unleashed on the world.”

When it comes to Electro and the Green Goblin – two of the enemies that Spider-Man will take on – not only do the villains have different motivations for taking on the wall-crawler, but in some ways, they consider themselves fighting a different enemy. “You’ve got two guys, one who hates Spider-Man, and one who hates Peter Parker,” says one of the screenwriters, Alex Kurtzman. “They want to kill the same person, but for different reasons. That’s why the two of them team up – they are driven by their emotions.

For Webb and his fellow filmmakers, it was important to keep in mind that even as Spider-Man takes on these villains, it is the boy behind the mask that makes Spider-Man who he is. “As Spider-Man, Peter thrives on fighting crime, trouncing bullies and swinging from the high rises of New York – but as Peter Parker his challenges are more familiar,” Webb continues. “Peter is just a kid who loves a girl. And when Gwen gets an opportunity to fulfill a lifelong dream, Peter has to confront a difficult truth that we all understand: that sometimes the most difficult part of loving someone means letting them go.

Part of the reason the Gwen Stacy story was so interesting to the filmmakers was that it marked a turning point in comic book history. The chance to go back to the comic books, to present that story on the big screen in an emotionally honest way, was very appealing. “The Spider-Man movies have paid cinematic reference to this story before, but we wanted to pay homage to it in a different way,” says Webb. “We’re taking some cinematic liberties, but we’re going back to the comic books for our inspiration. Amazing Spider-Man #121 is one of the most profound issues in the canon – profound in the way it affects Peter Parker. Gwen’s fate directly derives from the choices of the hero. It’s the story that allowed comic books to take a more complex turn, and from that, we were able to give the movie a tone that is Shakespearean or operatic.”

Opening across the Philippines on April 30 in IMAX 3D, Digital 3D and 2D formats, “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International.

Vhong Navarro Faces Third Rape Complaint

Vhong Navarro Faces Third Rape Complaint

Vhong Navarro is facing a new rape complaint - his third after Deniece Cornejo in January and Roxanne Acosta Cabanero the following month.

The third rape complaint was  filed on Thursday, April 6, at the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office by a stuntwoman named Margaret Fajardo who once worked with the Kapamilya actor-host.

Citing the victim's affidavit, the report said the alleged incident happened in September 2009 inside a sports utility vehicle (SUV). The victim, who was not identified, said Navarro only stopped with his sexual assault when she threatened to hurt him.

Vhong's counsel, lawyer Alma Mallonga, said they have yet to receive a copy of the third complaint, but added they are ready to file a counter-affidavit,

The new complaint for rape against Vhong is not unexpected. We expect more, especially as the DOJ nears resolution of the complaint for non-bailable crime of Serious Illegal Detention filed by Vhong against Cedric, Deniece and company,” Mallonga said in a text message sent to GMA News.

Mallonga was referring to Cedric Lee, Deniece Cornejo and several others who are facing charges in connection with the mauling incident on Navarro in late January.

We will wait for the complaint and respond. We will follow the process, knowing full well that Vhong will be vindicated,” Mallonga added.

Hard to believe, but Oscar-winning director Alfonso Cuaron ("Children of Men") originally shot an opening scene for Gravity that would have radically changed the film. Too bad the brass at Warner Bros. rejected this version.

Jessie J to Arrive in Manila for “Jessie J Live" Concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum

Jessie J to Arrive in Manila for “Jessie J Live" Concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum

After numerous number one singles and a debut album that headed straight for the top, selling millions worldwide, show-stopping performances in front of a global audience of billions at the Olympics and extraordinary acts for charity that hit the headlines, London-born songstress Jessie J shakes up Manila in “Jessie J Live" in Manila on July 14, 2014 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum presented by Midas Promotions in cooperation with Futuretainment, Inc.

The 26-year-old pop star burst onto the scene in 2011 with the explosive single, “Do It Like A Dude” in a feisty performance with a video so strong there was certainly no ignoring this talented new singer-songwriter, surfing between tough RnB and rap.

That was followed by “Price Tag”, the anti-materialistic anthem of its year, and an album that sold in its millions going platinum several times over. But that was just the beginning of a journey that would see Jessie become the first British woman in history to take six top ten singles from one album and never mind that it was her first outing.

To add to those achievements are some pretty impressive statistics: coming up for 15 million sales, a Brit, the BBC Sound of 2011 award, two number one singles in the UK, number ones in no fewer than 19 countries, a number six hit in the US with “Domino”. There are many more. We could go on. And that’s not to mention her part in The Voice UK, the highly-rated BBC1 Saturday night prime-time show where she has mentored hopefuls alongside legends like Sir Tom Jones and will.i.am.

The former Voice UK coach also released her second studio album Alive in September and shaved off her trademark bob for Comic Relief, donating the hair to be woven into wigs for children who had lost their hair during cancer treatment.

I wrote my first album when I was 18. This is definitely more mature,” she said of her new record on which she wrote and worked on with the likes of Rodney Jerkins, Claude Kelly and Stargate.

Witness as Jessie J delivers an evening of hits, dance tunes, trendsetter ways and show-stopping vocals which alters from jump-up and rave anthems made for nightclubs to soft ballad highlights including Domino, Laserlight, Thunder, Excuse My Rude, Do It Like A Dude, Wild, Who You Are, Price Tag, and It's My Party.

Tickets will go on sale on April 8, 2014 at 9:00am at www.ticketnet.com.ph and Ticketnet outlets. For inquiries, call 911-5555.

ABS-CBN Captures Top 10 TV Shows in March

Five other Kapamilya primetime shows ranked in the list.

"Honesto," which also concluded in March, placed second with 34.2%, while the series that replaced it in its time slot, "Mars Ravelo's Dyesebel," trailed closely with 32.2%.

Featuring Anne Curtis in the title role, "Dyesebel" has consistently topped daily nationwide ratings since its March 17 premiere, as measured by Kantar Media using a panel size of 2,609 urban and rural homes.

Its lead-in program, ABS-CBN's flagship newscast "TV Patrol," ranked sixth as the overall most watched program in March, with an average viewership of 28.2%.

The ongoing "Ikaw Lamang" and the just-concluded "Annaliza," both primetime shows, placed seventh with 27.6% and ninth with 22.9%, respectively.

Completing the top-10 sweep of ABS-CBN in March were its weekend programs, including "Wansapanataym." The fantasy anthology's average rating of 31.3% was good enough to rank it fourth overall.

The long-running drama anthology "Maalaala Mo Kaya" placed fifth with 28.8%, while the game show "Bet On Your Baby" ranked eight with 26.7%. The magazine program "Rated K," meanwhile, scored 22.6% in average national viewership, ranking it 10th in the list.

The strong viewerships of ABS-CBN's primetime and weekend programs bolstered its overall lead over competing networks GMA-7 and TV5.

According to Kantar Media, ABS-CBN registered an average audience share of 44%, or 10 percentage points ahead of GMA's 34%. TV5, meanwhile, trailed at a distant third with 10%.

Cudia consults the nation through Face The People to know if he should start fighting the institution he was formerly  a part of to protect the rights of his son. “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” Opens No. 1 in the Philippines, Grosses P155.51-M in 5 Days

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” Opens No. 1 in the Philippines, Grosses P155.51-M in 5 Days

The patriotic superhero led the Philippine box office to victory as Marvel's “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” opened at No.1 with a nationwide, five-day opening weekend gross of a staggering P155.51-million.

This according to Victor R. Cabrera, Managing Director of Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Philippines which distributed the film.

Propelled by through-the-roof, positive reviews from critics and excellent word-of-mouth, the record-breaking bow claimed the biggest opening weekend for the year for a foreign title (dethroning “300: Rise of an Empire”) as well as the biggest March opening ever in the industry.

The debut of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” also glaringly surpassed the openings of previous Marvel titles, specifically its predecessor, 2011's “Captain America: The First Avenger” (P90.8-M), 2010's “Iron Man 2” (P104.9-M) and 2011's “Thor” (P59.5-M).

Overseas, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” grossed a stellar $75.2 million from 32 territories (incuding UK, France, Germany, Italy, Korea and the Philippines), representing approximately 57% of the overseas market place. By comparison, the original “Captain America” grossed only $40 million from the same group of countries in 2011. The film opens in the U.S. and North America on April 4.

Back in the Philippines, “The Winter Soldier” rolled out in 453 screens, including 8 IMAX theaters.    The SM Group claimed the three biggest opening receipts, led by SM North EDSA (P8.41-M), SM Mall of Asia (P8.33-M), SM Megamall (P7.62-M).

The top four to ten slots are occupied by Trinoma (P5.16-M), Glorietta 4 (P4.90-M), SM Cebu (P4.36-M), Alabang Town Center (P3.96-M), Greenbelt 3 (P3.87-M), Power Plant (P3.79-M) and Greenhills Promenade (P3.70-M).

Rounding out the top 11 to 20 rankings were SM Aura (P3.63-M), Newport (P3.39-M), SM Southmall (P2.83-M), Shang Cineplex (P2.72-M), Robinsons Magnolia (P2.543-M), Gateway (P2.541-M), Eastwood (P2.53-M), Ayala Cebu (P2.46-M), SM Fairview (P2.34-M) and SM Marikina (P2.15-M).

Marvel's “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” which continues the big screen adventures of Steve Rogers aka Captain America, picks up after the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, and finds Steve Rogers living quietly in Washington, D.C., and trying to adjust to the modern world.

But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue and mystery that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off assailants sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable new enemy - the Winter Soldier.

Based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1941, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” returns Chris Evans as the iconic Super Hero character Steve Rogers/Captain America along with Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Falcon, Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill, Frank Grillo as Brock Rumlow, Emily VanCamp as Agent 13, Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, with Academy Award® winner Robert Redford as Alexander Pierce, a senior leader within the S.H.I.E.L.D organization, and Samuel L. Jackson as S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury.

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier" is now playing across the Philippines and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

In addition to "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on the Marvel characters including "Guardians of the Galaxy" on August 1, 2014; "Avengers: Age of Ultron" on May 1, 2015; and "Ant-Man" on July 17, 2015.

Dancing is one of the greatest expressions of the joy of living. Yet, this burst of joyful energy can easily stop when you experience nagging discomforts such as numbness, tingling sensations and body pain.

Pain in the hand, arms and legs caused by nerve damage is called Neuropathy, which can leave you feeling numb, making it difficult for you to function properly.

Neuropathy afflicts many Filipinos as early as their mid-20’s, but this condition is often misdiagnosed so they do not receive the proper treatment.

In one graceful move, Neurobion® reunites iconic dance groups Universal Motion Dancers, Sex Bomb Dancers and The Maneouvers to launch the Neuropathy Awareness Movement at the Trinoma Atrium. The reunion concert will feature dance icons such as Wowie de Guzman and Jopay Paguia to lead the event and perform their greatest hits. Known for their superb moves and demanding routines, the dancers know too well the importance of being able to move freely without the threat of pain.

The symptoms of Neuropathy include pangangawit, pamamanhid and tusok-tusok in the hands, arms and legs. The discomfort is often felt in the morning, making it hard to even get out of bed. Such body discomforts can hinder movement, making you feel helpless, out of control and unable to enjoy life.

It is clinically proven that Neurobion® balanced formulation of nerve nourishing vitamins acts at the root of these problems (Tong HI, Influence of neurotropic vitamins on the nerve conduction velocity. Ann Add Med Singapore, 1980 Jan; 9(1) 65-70). Each tablet of Neurobion® can help maintain healthy nerves, promote efficient nerve function, and reduce pain in the hands, arms and legs caused by Neuropathy.

With the incidence of Neuropathy increasing among Filipinos, the Neuropathy Awareness Movement, spearheaded by Neurobion®, aims to raise awareness on the symptoms and effects of nerve damage. Pangangawit, pamamanhid and tusok-tusok may make it difficult to move, but now you can take action. With clinically proven Neurobion®, you can help prevent these symptoms so you can move freely, perform at your best, and feel the joy of living again.

Anne Curtis Denies Bashing and Harassing Sam Concepcion

Anne Curtis Denies Bashing and Harassing Sam Concepcion

While Sam Concepcion keeps mum about the alleged unfortunate incident with Anne Curtis on Vice Ganda's birthday party at 71 Gramercy on Sunday night (read related news HERE), Anne on Tuesday posted on her Instagram account that she and Sam are OK. "Taken at Vice's birthday. Of course I spoke to Sam that night and as always, I told him to take care of my baby sister. Like any ate would do BUT to clarify I DID NOT say any of those words written in the article. Kahit tanungin nyo pa si Sam. Even he doesn't know where those words came from. Basta. Ang mahalaga Sam and I are ok. End of story, no issue here." her photo caption went.

As opposed to Anne's IG post, sources of PEP who were present at the venue swear they personally witnessed and heard Anne’s supposed verbal putdown of Sam, "Anne really said those hurtful things. Ang daming nakakita at nakarinig..."

"She will deny. There's a lot at stake for Anne. Bukod sa soap, may concert siya, may bagong endorsement." the sources added.

Anne Curtis Got Drunk at Vice Ganda's Party, Shouts at Sam Concepcion: "You're not classy enough to be here."

Anne Curtis Got Drunk at Vice Ganda's Party, Shouts at Sam Concepcion: "You're not classy enough to be here."

Anne Curtis is not only keen in buying people, or some club. She is also into judging who is classy and which car is nicer. This is if the reports posted on leading entertainment websites are accurate.

The Dyesebel star reportedly shouted at her younger sister's rumored boyfriend Sam Concepcion at the birthday party of her 'Showtime' co-host Vice Ganda. "Why are you here? Who invited you? You are not classy enough to be here," Curtis was quoted.

After singing "Alone" (watch the video HERE) during commercial gaps while hosting the Coronation Night of Binibining Pilipinas at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum last Sunday, March 31, Anne went to the 71 Gramercy in Century City Mall, Makati where Vice Ganda's birthday bash was held. PEP.ph reported that Anne was seen drinking before she made those proud remarks.

It wasn't a single bashing that Sam received from Anne according to the reports. In effect, she commented that Sam's present car cannot compare to her oldest vehicle. "Bakit mo niloloko kapatid ko?", she also allegedly asked the pop singer. Sam was seen talking to female guests before Anne barged in.

PEP.ph's anonymous source also said that several guests heard Anne but Vice reportedly went around asking guests to not talk about it. "Huwag na lang ilabas," the source quoted the comedian. Concepcion reportedly left the scene embarrassed and was described by the source as "mangiyak-ngiyak." Continue reading HERE.
