Anne Curtis Sorry and John Lloyd Cruz Drug and Alcohol Addiction

Anne Curtis Sorry and John Lloyd Cruz Drug and Alcohol Addiction

There is one line from Anne Curtis that has reached viral status, turning into an expression meant for hilarity by netizens. Nope. It’s not from a movie or a teleserye, nor it is taped or scripted. It was spoken with Anne portraying herself in an unpleasant situation in real life.

I can buy you, your friends, and this club.” The country’s national sweetheart allegedly spoke these words, at least according to eyewitness JR Isaac, a renowned publicist, who was there when Anne turned fuming mad and slapped him and two others before uttering those words in Prive, The Fort on November 23.

No amount of lines in “No Other Woman” can defeat it’s popularity now. But there is one more line from Anne Curtis that made it to the headlines last weekend. “You’re an addict!”, she allegedly screamed to another bankable actor John Lloyd Cruz. Was it because she was just drunk? Or like the others, does she believe in rumors (and has validated it in her own showbiz ways)? Is John Lloyd Cruz, the man who starred in six of the ten biggest local movies in the Philippine box office, really on a substance abuse?

Ruffa Gutierrez, who is one of the showbiz personalities John Lloyd is reported to have a romantic relationship with, divulged in a PEP interview two years ago how John Lloyd shared his drinking problems to her. “… Sinabi niya sa akin ‘I drink a lot, hapon pa lang minsan umiinom na ako.’ Pero naging problema yun kasi there were times na we would go out, bigla na lang siyang nakakatulog. Binubuhat siya palabas ng club. Siyempre, nahihiya naman ako,” the beauty queen- actress revealed.

In a report published on Spot.ph, Cruz denied the allegations. "Never naman ako na hindi naging healthy living eh. Actually, alam mo di naman talaga ako gumi-gimik. Yung mga gimik na clubbing and going to the bars... di naman," the matinee idol said. Continue reading HERE.

Joey Ayala Arrested for Singing the Philippine National Anthem His Way

Joey Ayala Arrested for Singing the Philippine National Anthem His Way

Award-winning singer, songwriter and former chairman of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts Joey Ayala is now in hot water for what was supposed to be a lighthearted talk at the TEDxDiliman 2013 event held in UP Diliman last week.

During the talk, Joey Ayala made minor changes to the wordings of Lupang Hinirang to improve clarity and stress the meaning of the words in the National Anthem.  This apparently did not sit well with the National Historical Institute (NHI), as with most things that are hip and cool.

Ayala was arrested earlier this morning in front of his house by elements of the special armed intervention group of the National Historical Institute and was taken to Intramuros for paperwork and further questioning. Ayala was chosen to do the talk for his previous experience as Chairman of Music in the National Commission for Culture and Arts as well as his noted patriotism. His credentials did not save him from the authorities.

Pepito Jose Pitombayag Jr, spokesperson for NHI Anthem Investigation Unit explained the situation. “I don’t even know why people bother to changing something that’s been the same for the last hundred years. They know we have laws against it. They know we punish violators. Yet they still try and end up just hurting themselves, their loved ones, and their ancestors’ honor.  It doesn’t matter who you are. If you try to mess with the National Anthem, you called down the thunder, you reap the whirlwind.”

As expected, the organizers of TEDxDiliman along with other organizations in UP that seem to never have anything else going on except rallies and communist parties are planning to mount, well, protests, in Intramuros to request Ayala’s early release. Not that protests ever change anything.

Activist leader Mon Jose of student org confederation KAPIT-SIBAK-AGAD says “This is outrageous. Here we have an innocent man who did nothing but try to make Lupang Hinirang sound like something a human would actually enjoy listening to, and the we arrested him. Meanwhile, Daniel Padilla is being given more airtime than most national issues and nobody seems to care. What are we waiting for? A second concert? Also, PNOY RESIGN! TUTA NG KANO!”

TV5 Continue to Increase Viewership and Popularity

TV5 Continue to Increase Viewership and Popularity

TV5 continues to prove that its efforts to change the TV landscape are indeed paying off, with the growing popularity of the network’s programs reflecting higher viewership shares and a more active social media presence.

According to data from Nielsen Media Research, TV5’s entertainment shows are consistently ranking among the Top 15 programs. Further, the network’s shows are also regularly figuring in Twitter trending topics during the time of airing, proving the shows’ popularity among young and progressive audiences.

Nielsen’s overnight NUTAM data for November 17 listed TV5’s Wow Mali Pa Rin and Who Wants to Be a  Millionaire in the Top 9-11 ranking. The Kapatid Network’s airing of the PBA Alaska Aces vs. Rain or Shine Elasto Painters game also figured in the Top 12.

Viewers and fans of TV5’s shows are also actively sharing their excitement in social media, often landing the programs in Twitter’s trending topic list. Last Saturday, the premiere of Jasmine Curtis Smith’s music show SPINNation generated the most buzz among netizens. Minutes before the show’s airing, it already placed second in Twitter’s trending topics. It eventually topped the charts halfway through the program.

These developments definitely make the network strive harder to offer more quality and groundbreaking programs that encourage more Filipinos to make the switch and enjoy the new brand of entertainment TV5 has to offer.
