Squinching Photos Can Transform You from Ugly to Lovely

Squinching Photos Can Transform You from Ugly to Lovely

Say goodbye Adobe Photoshop, PhotoWonder, Wonder Cam and Camero 360 and wave you Hello to Squinch.

Should you always look bad in photographs, then help is at hand. Professional portrait photographer Peter Hurley suggests you squinch next time you have your picture taken.

The results are actually quite impressive. Indeed, this video shows how you can get your squinch on, and the benefits it will have - as do the images below, pre- and post-squinching. And you just know that even the least vain of us are gonna give it at least a little try.

YouTube via Peta Pixel

Merriam Webster defines "Squich"as:

transitive verb 1: to screw up (the eyes or face); squint 2: to make more compact."

Hurley took the word and used it to describe the "action of squinting your eyes in such a way as to portray confidence and self-assurance as opposed to the fear and uncertainty that you project when you stare wide-eyed at the camera.

Cristine Reyes and Derek Ramsay's Much-Publicized Break-Up Not True

Cristine Reyes and Derek Ramsay's Much-Publicized Break-Up Not True

If you honestly believed that Derek Ramsay and Cristine Reyes' controversial whirlwind romance ended just like that, think again.

During Cristine's latest guesting on Vice Ganda's Twitter trending weekend comedy show "Gandang Gabi Vice," comedian Vice Ganda made remarks debunking that the Kapamilya actress’s love affair with the Kapatid actor is indeed not over yet. “So kayo pa rin? Hindi totoo na nag break-up? Magkasama pa rin kayo ayaw lang i-publicize and relasyon,” Vice asked Christine which the young sexy actress earlier commented “Palabas lang lahat yung break-up… Joke!

Cristine’s affair with Derek has been reported by the press to have lasted for a month. Their relationship came a few months after Derek Ramsay broke up with long time girlfriend Angelika Panganiban and Christine parted ways with also long time boyfriend Rayver Cruz.

Vice asked about Derek after Christine shared that he likes chinito and men with white complexion. “Yun talaga yung love kasi di ko siya type pero minahal ko siya. That was love,” Ara Mina’s younger sister responded. Christine also shared that even after their alleged breakup, they are still talking to each other almost everyday and calls each other bestfriends.

Kris Aquino Shares The Most Ideal Christmas Gift Shopping Tips

Kris Aquino Shares The Most Ideal Christmas Gift Shopping Tips

Queen of All Media Kris Aquino shares her family's Christmas traditions, giving gifts and why she loves Christmas shopping at the SM Store.

Like all families in. the Philippines, which is said to have the longest Christmas celebration in the world, the Aquinos have their own special way of celebrating Christmas.

It’s our Christmas tradition to have Mass together on Christmas Eve,” says Kris, the youngest daughter of icons of democracy Ninoy and Cory Aquino, and a celebrity in her own right, who is considered the Queen of all Media. “When Mom was alive, it was at Times Street and Father Arevalo would be the one to say Mass. That was our family’s Christmas celebration until she passed away.”

Since 2010, however, the Aquinos – Kris, sisters Ballsy, Pinky, and Viel and brother Noy and their families - have been having their get together at Bahay Pangarap. That’s, of course, because her brother Benigno Simeon Aquino III is the President of the Philippines. “It’s a time for family,” says Kris, who is the face of the I Love Christmas Shopping at SM campaign. “It’s Mass, dinner, gift giving, then others go to their in-laws.

She adds that every year since 2010, she has had an entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival.  Premiere nights, however, are usually held on December 24 and she usually has to rush to the family dinner.  But “God is good, they adjust the time to wait for me to arrive.” Now that she has her own family, she and her kids have their own tradition – traveling after the MMFF awards night. In 2010, they spent the holidays in Singapore; in 2011-2012, it was New York; 2012-2013 in Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

This year, “the awards night is on December 27, so we plan to leave on the 28th.  It will be hopefully London this time, but if my sisters have their way, it will be Japan so we will all be together.  But the kids want London, so we’ll see.” Here, Kris shares with us her thoughts on the joys of Christmas, gift giving, and why she loves holiday shopping at SM.  It reveals a side of her rarely seen – her love of family, her incredible sense of organization, her generosity.

Gift giving is an essential part of Christmas.  How do you prepare for this? What gifts to do like to give?

Christmas is a time when you can show the people important to you what they mean to you.All my pamangkins have grown so they appreciate cash or GCs.  I have been giving SM GC’s for many years because you can use it in the SM Store, and SM Supermarket. They are happy they can use it in so many stores. It’s a joy to receive SM Gift Certificates. I also like to give them gadgets. For my inaanaks, it’s also gadgets and GCs. For my friends who are rather wealthy, I donate in their name.  I have a special card designed where I tell them I gave to a charity in their name. For those who work in my shows and movies, I give gift certificates talaga. Last year, I also brought 8 chosen staff to a trip to Korea – 5 from Kris TV and 3 from my teleserye. Those memories will really last.I also prepare Christmas baskets for the friends of Bim and Kuya Josh. These have candies, little toys, and are beautifully packaged. For teachers, coaches, trainers, banks, I prepare a beautiful basket of my favorite products, much alike a supermarket and bathroom collection.”

What about your kids?

With the kids, I’m so guilty of the fact that every week is Christmas.  I am lucky that they are very kind and happy for everything they have. Bimby nags me to ‘save your money, Mama.’  Kuya Josh always asks for money to give to everybody because it is his joy to share – from the drivers, the PSGs, the yayas, those in school.  He is super happy when he does that.”

Do you think that sharing with the less fortunate is an essential part of Christmas?  How do you do this?

Yes, of course. Because of Kris TV, Kim Chiu and I learned that gift giving is really for kids. We like less fortunate kids to be happy, and work on this.We are also preparing lots of Noche Buena packs with Ryza.  We hope that these will reach many people. I’ll also course some through Red Cross for those in evacuation centers.I feel that we are comfortable all year round, so it’s really our turn to do our share to make others happy for Christmas.”

What do you like most about shopping at SM?

I liked the styling in the ads, and I’ve been wearing their accessories non-stop. I also like the blouses, which are delightfully on P800-900, but super pretty. I’m so proud of that.I also like buying gift certificates in bulk for gifts. These are gifts that will be appreciated as you can buy from many stores with these.”

Please share with us your thoughts on Christmas and SM.

It’s not hard to endorse SM as it such a part of Philippine culture. The only difference for me is that there is an expectation that everything I am wearing is imported an expensive. That’s our goal with Liz (Uy) that every time I say thank you to SM, what I am wearing will elicit a wow because it’s so put together, looks expensive, and yet affordable for everybody.  And that’s what I am looking forward to, to make it aspirational yet reachable. I’m proud to be representing SM and to let everybody know it’s really fun to shop. Why is it fun to shop? Because you won’t run out of money, and really get good quality.”

“The Secret Life of Walter Mitty” Receives Hot Response from Australian Moviegoers

“The Secret Life of Walter Mitty” Receives Hot Response from Australian Moviegoers

In attendance at the recently concluded Australian (Sydney) premiere of the upcoming adventure comedy “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" are Ben Stiller and Kristen Wiig.

Ben Stiller produces and stars in the movie where no one really knows the power of the private dreams inside our heads  . . . until they inspire our reality.  That’s what happens in Ben Stiller’s contemporary rethink of one of the most influential fantasy stories of all time – indeed the quintessential tale about the irresistible allure of fantasizing: James Thurber’s “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.”  Stiller has taken that two-and-a-half page 1939 classic and opened it up into a 21st Century comic epic about a man who finds that his real life is about toblow his wildly over-active imagination out of the water.

“The Secret Life of Walter Mitty” opens January 22 in theaters from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.

Lifestyle Network's "Around the Philippines in Small Plates" Benefit Dinner Raised Funds for Yolanda Victims and ICanServeFoundation

The second year of Lifestyle Network's grandest dining event in the Metro aimed  to assist in the fundraising and relief operations of Sagip Kapamilya through the ICanServeFoundation.

Called “Around The Philippines in Small Plates,” the event  has chosen to unite the various regions of the country in a different way to mirror the oneness among its people following the calamity.

Made up of 7,107 islands, the Philippines is home to a diverse culture. Part of this culture is a variation in practices, rites, and language;but one thing common among all people, regardless of region, is a love for a flavor uniquely Filipino that is expressed in many ways.

The Lifestyle Network is thus taking that love for Filipino flavor and cooking up a night to bring together many of its different expressions through Around the Philippines in Small Plates, where Manila’s premiere chefs and establishments are set to gather under one roof to create a most unforgettable dinner menu that distinctly embodies the diversity of the Philippines.

From fresh produce, culinary delicacies, and export products to local arts and crafts, Around the Philippines in Small Plates aims to highlight the creativity of the Filipinos. The event was held on November 22 (Friday), 7PM at the NBC Tent. A ticket worth 1, 500 pesos to the dinner entitled its holder to a small tasting plate of each dish that is to be served.

Dishes at Around the Philippines in Small Plates will be cooked up by some of today’s biggest names in the local culinary scene, including Lifestyle Network’s FoodPrints’ Chef Sandy Daza, Curiosity Got the Chef’s Chef Sharwin Tee, Chefscapades’ Chef Gene and Gino Gonzalez, Wildflour’s Chef Allen Buhay, Grace Park’s Chef Margarita Fores, Chef Hylton le Roux of Market to Master, Milky Way Café’s Chef J Gamboa, Green Pastures’ Chef Robby Goco, Restaurant 9501’s Chef Myrna Segismundo, Chef Glenda Baretto of Cafe Via Mare, Chef Jessie Sincioco of Chef Jessie’s, Chef Ginny de Guzman of Gustare, Chef Juan Carlos de Terry of Terry’s Selection, and Chef Fernando Aracama of Aracama.

Aside from all these culinary masters, sumptuous dishes will also be served by some of the country’s best establishments, such as La Cocina de Tita Moning, Alavar Seafood Restaurant, Pepita’s Lechon, General’s Lechon, Discovery Suites, Bizu, Kitchen’s Best, Fog City Creamery and Baby Pat’s breads and pastries; with the official wine partner for the night, Beringer of Happy Living fine Wines, and coffee care of the EDSA Beverage Group.

The dishes to be served at the event are to represent the diversity and uniqueness of the Filipino palette, with some representing the country’s different regions and the others being family heirloom recipes.

“Around the Philippines in Small Plates” will also be held hand in hand with “Choose Philippines: A Pinoy A-fair,” where products and merchandise that further embody the diverse aesthetic of the Filipino culture will be shown and made available for purchase.

Chavit Singson Celebrates Birthday by Killing Lion and Antelope

Chavit Singson Celebrates Birthday by Killing Lion and Antelope

I find this so sad and disturbing.

Former Ilocos Sur Governor Luis "Chavit" Singson celebrated his birthday with a hunting expedition at Kalahari Desert in South Africa where he shot dead a male lion and an antelope.

A photo showing him with the dead animals was printed onto his cake making his birthday celebration as one of his most memorable.

Is killing animal now considered to be a sport? Just asking.

Marian Rivera and Alden Richards Team-up in "Catarina"

Is it really goodbye Louise delos Reyes?

After a long list of successful teleserye's Alden Richard is leaving his perennial loveteam in favor of Kapuso primetime queen Marian Rivera.

Alden and Marian, despite their age gap, will be paired in GMA-7's upcoming teleserye with a working title "Catarina: Ang Pinakamagandang Babae sa Ibabaw ng Lupa".

The two will be joined by Agot Isidro, Rochelle Pangilinan, Jennica Garcia, Max Collins and Roi Vinzon.

Directed by Dominic Zapata, "Catarina" will be aired starting first quarter of 2014.

Jean Claude Van Damme The Epic Split Volvo Trucks TVC

Jean Claude Van Damme The Epic Split Volvo Trucks TVC

A lot of auto ads run a disclaimer that the stunt was performed by professionals and viewers shouldn't try this at home. You'd definitely be wise to take that advice with regards to this ad Volvo Trucks featuring action star Jean-Claude Van Damme.

In the ad, Van Damme does a stunt that is truly insane, involving an epic split between two Volvo trucks. Watch the video below:

It's not clear whether anyone will buy a Volvo after this -  the ad is designed to show off the trucks' Volvo Dynamic Steering - but I for one have newfound respect for JCVD, who, by the way, is 53 years old.
