Ryan Agoncillo Joins "My Husband's Lover" Cast

Ryan Agoncillo is the latest addition to the growing cast of GMA-7's breakthrough primetime gay series "My Husband's Lover".

Eager to join the series, Ryan revealed that he and his manager made some necessary adjustment on his schedule to accommodate the offer.

Nung tinawagan ako para mag-guest para sa My Husband’s Lover, dali-dali, kahit buhul-buhol ang schedule, winork out talaga namin ng manager ko na talagang makaabot tayo sa kanilang taping,” Ryan told PEP.

When asked about his role, Ryan opted to keep it a secret to heighten fans excitement and not to preempt promo for his part in the program.

Malaki ang impact sa buhay ng tatlong bida paglabas ng aking karakter na ang pangalan ay Sam. Yun lang muna ang masasabi ko,” he said, adding “I just hope I get accepted by the followers of My Husband’s Lover. I understand this soap is very popular. Alam mo, sa Facebook, wala akong nakita kundi mga update tungkol sa My Husband’s Lover. I just hope they appreciate my presence in this soap, kahit medyo bandang huli na.

Cory Quirino to Devina DeVida: "Karma at work!"

Cory Quirino to Devina DeVida: "Karma at work!"

The Miss World Philippines organization headed by beauty and fitness guru Cory Quirino said on Friday that a Singaporean-Indian woman named Devina DeVida who was reportedly fired from her job had suffered “karma” for a racial slur against newly crowned Miss World Megan Young (read article about Devina DeDiva calling Megan Young "poor, smelly, uneducated." HERE).

Despite the racial slur against Filipinos and Megan, we at Miss World Philippines regret the fact that Devina DeVida’s actions were done at the cost of losing her job,” the organization said in a statement sent to News5.

Nevertheless, the organization called DeVida’s fate “karma at work”.

It is a classic case of karma at work. And in this case, her bashing was elevated from her personal discrimination which set off an enraged international community. This is truly one society where genuine and noble human values were put to a test. Humanity passed the test. Devina failed.” the Miss World Philippines organization said.

"The Blacklist" Pilot Episode Rakes More Than 12 Million Viewers

"The Blacklist" Pilot Episode Rakes More Than 12 Million Viewers

What happens when a master criminal turns himself in with the promise to help capture the world’s most elusive of his kind? Never trust a criminal… until you have to.

Get set for AXN’s most buzzed-about drama series (think Alias meets Hannibal) to take audiences worldwide by storm, as the action and adventure channel brings to Asia the electrifying suspense thriller that is The Blacklist. Premiering in a double night premiere on October 7 and 8 (Monday and Tuesday) at 10pm and airing regularly every Wednesday at 10pm (starting October 16), first and exclusively on AXN, The Blacklist tops the must-watch list of TV shows in 2013.

To date, The Blacklist has averaged 12 million viewers and a 3.6 rating (in the advertiser-coveted adults 18-49 demographic in its first two airings in the 10 p.m. Monday post-The Voice Season 5 slot in the US) making it the No. 1 new drama in total viewers thus far this season. The Blacklist has topped its time period in both airings.

Winner of the Cannes film festival’s best actor prize and multiple Emmy awards, James Spader of Sex, Lies and Videotape, Crash, The Office and Boston Legal-fame, stars as former U.S. government agent Raymond “Red” Reddington. One of the FBI’s Most Wanted fugitives for decades, he has brokered shadowy deals for criminals across the globe and was known as “The Concierge of Crime.”

He's a bad guy who relishes it, and enjoys it, and embraces it wholly,” explained Spader of his role as Red, the assured, worldly and knowing criminal mastermind. “(Red’s) criminal activity was on an international basis. From country to country, dealing with nation-states, dealing with organization, political organization,” Spader elaborated. “He's a businessman and his business is crime.”

Now, Red has mysteriously surrendered to the FBI with an explosive offer: He will help nail a long-thought-dead terrorist, Ranko Zamani, but under the condition that he speaks only to Elizabeth “Liz” Keen (Megan Boone, Law & Order: Los Angeles), an FBI profiler fresh out of the bureau’s academy in Quantico.

The situation baffles FBI agent Donald Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff, Homeland) who tracked Red without success for years, and FBI assistant director Harold Cooper (Harry Lennix, Man of Steel), who has no choice but to rely on Liz. For Liz, it will be one heck of a first day at work. What follows is a thrilling series of twists and turns as the race to stop the terrorist begins – complete with the kidnap of a general’s daughter and a biological weapon of mass destruction that is ticking away...

What is Red’s real agenda? Why has he chosen Liz, whom he has seemingly no connection with? Does Liz have secrets of her own? What about her husband Tom Keen (Ryan Eggold, Daybreak, 90210), who seems to be caught in the midst of it all?

In fact, Zamani is only the first of many on a list that Red has compiled over the years: a “blacklist” of politicians, mobsters, spies and international terrorists. He will help catch them all, with the caveat that Liz continues to be his partner. Red will teach Liz to think like a criminal and “see the bigger picture”… whether she wants to or not.

The Blacklist is executive produced by Jon Bokenkamp (The Call, Taking Lives), John Eisendrath (Alias), John Davis (Predator, I, Robot) and John Fox. The pilot was directed by Joe Carnahan (The A-Team, The Grey). Bokenkamp reveals that The Blacklist was first conceptualized with fellow executive producer John Fox, on the intriguing premise of what “if one of these (top criminals) started to talk?” Red and his knowledge of the criminal world and workings would make him the “Rosetta Stone of crime".

A production of Sony Pictures Television and Davis Entertainment, The Blacklist has already generated such massive interest among broadcasters globally that the series has been acquired to air in 11 languages to more than 100 million viewers across 66 countries spanning four continents including across Asia on AXN.

With the critically acclaimed James Spader starring as master criminal Raymond “Red” Reddington, brace for an edge of your seat, blockbuster suspense thriller that unravels the world’s most elusive perpetrators of crime and terror in The Blacklist, beginning this October only on AXN.

In the Philippines, The Blacklist will air on a double night premiere October 7 & 8 at 10PM, and will be seen regularly Wednesdays at 10pm first & Exclusively on AXN.

De La Salle Students Protest Against Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla TV Series

De La Salle Students Protest Against Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla TV Series

It may not be true (I hope so!) but basing it on the message posted online by De La Salle University Student Council President Jheng Sakay, La Sallians are protesting the shooting of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla's hit primetime series Got To Believe in DLSU Dasmarinas campus.

Reports say that the university's faculty members and some students are against the usage of classrooms and facilities for the shooting of the said hit program as it disrupts several classes and causing a lot of inconveniences and safety to students.

Can anyone from DLSUD and ABS-CBN clarify this issue?

Also reprising their roles are George Lopez, Tracy Morgan, Will.I.Am, Jemaine Clement, Leslie Mann, Rodrigo Santoro and Jamie Foxx.  New characters are voiced by an all-new stellar cast as well including Oscar® nominee Andy Garcia,Grammy® winner Bruno Mars, Emmy®/Tony® winner Kristin Chenoweth, Oscar®/Emmy®/Tony®/Grammy® winner Rita Moreno, "The Hunger Games'" Amandla Stenberg, singer/actress Rachel Crow, "Looper's" Pierce Gagnon, and "Today" news anchor Natalie Morales.

Moreso, compounding the in-laws issue is Jewel’s suave ex-boyfriend Roberto (voiced by Bruno Mars) who stirs up Blu’s jealousy.

As if ruffled feathers are not enough, familiar and new fiends follow aiming to do some fowl damage on the clan.  The conniving cockatoo Nigel (voiced by Clement) has now teamed up with a poisonous frog named Gabi (voiced by Christine Chenoweth) to spoil the party.

"So there's a big adventure to the Amazon," says Brazilian director and Carlos Saldanha. "It's very much a journey for Blu and Jewel's family. Feathers do get ruffled.  Threats are very real, however, from the deadly Nigel, the sadistic sulphur-crested cockatoo. He's better and badder than ever. He's a delicious villain."

“The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” Latest Trailer and Banners

The second trailer for Peter Jackson's “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” has just been released by Warner Bros., New Line Cinema and MGM Pictures. Watch below:

The studios have also released five new, horizontal banners featuring characters Bard, Bilbo, Gandalf, Legolas & Tauriel, and Thranduil.

From Academy Award®-winning filmmakerm Peter Jackson comes “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,” the second in a trilogy of films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien.

The three films tell a continuous story set in Middle-earth 60 years before “The Lord of the Rings,” which Jackson and his filmmaking team brought to the big screen in the blockbuster trilogy that culminated with the Oscar®-winning “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.”

“The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” continues the adventure of the title character Bilbo Baggins as he journeys with the Wizard Gandalf and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield, on an epic quest to reclaim the Lonely Mountain and the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor.

Having survived the beginning of their unexpected journey, the Company continues East, encountering along the way the skin-changer Beorn and a swarm of giant Spiders in the treacherous forest of Mirkwood. After escaping capture by the dangerous Wood-elves, the Dwarves journey to Lake-town, and finally to the Lonely Mountain itself, where they must face the greatest danger of all—a creature more terrifying than any other; one which will test not only the depth of their courage but the limits of their friendship and the wisdom of the journey itself—the Dragon Smaug.

Ian McKellen returns as Gandalf the Grey, with Martin Freeman in the central role of Bilbo Baggins, and Richard Armitage as Thorin Oakenshield. The international ensemble cast is led by Benedict Cumberbatch, Evangeline Lilly, Lee Pace, Luke Evans, Ken Stott, James Nesbitt, and Orlando Bloom. The film also stars (in alphabetical order) John Bell, Manu Bennett, Jed Brophy, Adam Brown, John Callen, Ryan Gage, Mark Hadlow, Peter Hambleton, Stephen Hunter, William Kircher, Lawrence Makoare, Sylvester McCoy, Graham McTavish, Dean O’Gorman, Mikael Persbrandt, and Aidan Turner.

The screenplay for “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” is by Fran Walsh & Philippa Boyens & Peter Jackson & Guillermo del Toro based on the novel by J.R.R. Tolkien. Jackson also produced the film, together with Carolynne Cunningham, Zane Weiner and Fran Walsh. The executive producers are Alan Horn, Toby Emmerich, Ken Kamins and Carolyn Blackwood, with Philippa Boyens serving as co-producer.

Under Jackson’s direction, “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” was shot in 3D 48 frames-per-second and will be released in High Frame Rate 3D (HFR 3D) in select theaters, other 2D and 3D formats, and IMAX®. Production took place at Jackson’s own facilities in Miramar, Wellington, and on location around New Zealand. Post production took place at Park Road Post Production in Wellington.

A production of New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures (MGM), “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,” will be released in 3D, 2D and IMAX theaters in the Philippines by Warner Bros. Pictures on December 12, 2013.

Pinoy Celebrities Talk About their Most, Least Favorite Dishes

Pinoy Celebrities Talk About their Most, Least Favorite Dishes

In Sony Pictures Animation's U.S. No. 1 hit “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2,” food took on the dual roles of heroes and villains, as inventor Flint Lockwood and his friends embark on a dangerously delicious mission to battle hungry foodimals (food-animal hybrids) to save the world.

In the same spirit of celebrating the duality of food and its effects on us, we polled a group of Filipino celebrities with interesting taste buds, to find out what their most and least favorite dishes are.

From home-style cooking to exotic cuisine, let's take a look at what gets the mouths of the stars watering... and which food they'd rather spit out.

Eugene Domingo, award-winning drama-comedy actress: I like fish, salads, pasta. I do not like fast food.

Jim Paredes, legendary singer-songwriter: Favorite is beef salpicao, least favorite – dinuguan.

Cherie Gil, iconic screen villainness: My favorite food is sinigang na ulo ng salmon. Least fave. Hmmm, that's hard. I don't like any food with raisins and pineapples in it.

Joey Reyes, multi-awarded writer-director: My favorite food: hard to pinpoint just one. A toss-up between delicious Thai yellow beef curry or a bowl of steaming hot Japanese ramen! My worst food: Betute or the stuffed field frogs I ate without knowing it was exotic amphibian (which I have a phobia for). It sent me screaming straight to the bathroom.

Liezl Martinez, MTRCB board member: My favorite foods are spaghetti Bolognese and aglio olio, steak, sinigang na hipon and sushi. Least – lamb, oysters, dinuguan, curry.

Claude Tayag, renowed chef and restaurateur: Favorite is a toss up between Lechon Kawali/Bagnet and Bacalao ala Vizcaina. Least fave is dinuguan.

Quark Henares, filmmaker: Sizzling Keema with eggplant and special Chelo Kebab Combo at Mr. Kebab. OMG, I miss it so much. Least favorite, ampalaya. I hate it so much. Sometimes I taste it just to remind myself how much I hate it.

Alma Concepcion, actress, recently starred in “Babagwa”: I prefer food that is easy to eat, like siomai. I don’t like beef, it’s hard to chew and digest.

Chico, RX931 Morning Rush disc jockey: My favorite food is ice cream. You have to enjoy it at once, or it’s gone… just like life. I don’t like okra. It’s like eating a nose! It’s shaped like a nose, has phlegmy slime, and it even has little balls for boogers!

Dolly Anne Carvajal, entertainment columnist: My favorite is sashimi. Least favourite -- pinakbet.

Sharmaine Arnaiz, TV soap actress: I like anything with chocolate. I dislike escargot or anything too exotic. I avoid meat because I studied veterinary medicine. Our class visited a slaughterhouse as part of our curriculum and it broke my heart to witness animals being killed.

Bong Daza, businessman-gourmand: The “bestest,” tastiest beef I have tried so far in my life is not wagyu nor angus. This beef comes from white Tuscan cows called Chianina. It is commonly known as Florentine Steak or Bistecca Florentine. When in Florence, make sure you try it. The beef is incredibly soft and melts in your mouth.

Kat de Castro, travel show host & TV journalist: My favorite food has got to be Spaghetti Bolognese, especially if it has diced smoked streaky bacon! Nothing beats this classic dish. Not only is this easy to prepare but it also serves as my comfort food since it reminds me of my childhood years. My least favorite is the steamed okra. I even cringe at the thought of having it for lunch.

Sherilyn Tan, TV actress: It gives me a shallow sort of happiness whenever I eat Japanese steak with beansprouts. I do not like kare-kare. I remember that Kuya Dick Paulate cooked a weird version of kare-kare on “Petrang Kabayo,” and that just stuck with me.

Lea Salonga: I don’t have a most or least favorite food – I LOVE EVERYTHING!

Experience ‘Augmented Reality’ Treatment at SmarBro Live and Loud Concert

Experience ‘Augmented Reality’ Treatment at SmarBro Live and Loud Concert

Virtual and physical worlds will collide as wireless leader Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) brings augmented reality technology to the Smart Bro Live and Loud concert, the telco’s first-ever interactive music event that will put audiences in control of their entertainment choices.

Using only their smartphones and tablets, Filipinos who want to experience augmented reality (AR) technology can simply point their devices at any Smart Bro Live and Loud concert poster scattered across Metro Manila and published in major newspapers to experience this unique innovation firsthand.

The AR-powered posters are located in Smart stores, gadget and PC outlets around major malls in Metro Manila, including those located Robinson’s Galleria, SM North EDSA, SM Megamall, SM Fairview, Glorietta 2, Alabang Town Center, and Trinoma, among many others.

As an added bonus, smartphone and tablet users who are willing to try out this interactive technology will be rewarded at the end of the experience by entering Smart Bro’s Live and Loud Microsite and register for free tickets to the concert, happening on October 4 at the TriNoMa Mindanao Parking area.

Users only need to download an app called “Zappar” and install it on their Android or iOS device to experience this unique innovation. By pointing the app’s camera at the Smart Bro Live and Loud concert poster, they will instantly be treated to an exciting video experience that will give themmore info on how to enjoy and view the concert.

Augmented reality gives users dynamic and relevant content they can enjoy on the spot, without having to log on to their notebooks or desktop computers,” explained Michelle Curran, Data and International Services Marketing Head at Smart. “With this innovation, we take engagement to the next level as we prepare to mount Smart’s first-ever interactive concert.

AR, now made popular by new technologies such as Nokia’s CityLens and the upcoming Google Glass, provides a live and direct view of the physical environment augmented by computer-generated data such as videos, photos, or GPS information to enhance the user experience.

While pointing a device’s camera on a street, for example, electronic data can be placed over buildings and establishments to show its business name, contact details, promotional activities, and other information relevant to the user.

Two of the country’s top newspapers already employ this technology to breathe new life to their static print output, while a number of magazines and other publications use AR to produce more dynamic content for their audience—such as models seemingly coming to life and jumping out of the paper to interact with the reader.

Already an interactive feat by itself, the Smart Bro Live and Loud concert will pool four of the country’s top iconic OPM acts, namely Raimund Marasigan, Barbie Almalbis, Rico Blanco, and Ely Buendia, to perform on a single stage controlled digitally by concert-goers and viewers at home.

The live audience during the concert proper gets the power to control the stage, from setting the platform ablaze with jet sparks to releasing haze and streams of smoke heightening the mystery and excitement of each performance, and even discharging beaming laser lights across the venue, giving the total concert experience to the hands of concert-goers and watchers.

The Smart Bro Live and Loud concert also allows people to vote online at smart.com.ph/LiveandLoud for the top 3 songs that each of the artists will sing solo and collaboratively during the concert.

Subscribers, meanwhile, can get free tickets to the concert through the Live and Loud portal, but those who can’t make it to the concert day itself can view the show through a livestream service accessible via the dedicated microsite and through Smart’s YouTube channel.

Broadband Internet has empowered many facets of Filipinos’ lives by delivering rich content that they wouldn’t otherwise experience on other platforms. With the Smart Bro Live and Loud concert and its various interactive features, users get the power to control the concert experience, the same way they are empowered to do a lot of new and exciting things using broadband Internet,” Curran added.

For more information on ticket availability and to vote for your favorite songs to be performed live during the October 4 concert, visit smart.com.ph/LiveandLoud.

"Magda" is the first single from the OPM rapper's latest album "Liham at Lihim".

No less than Rico Blanco sings the track's chorus which goes: "Magdalena anong problema? Bakit 'di ka makawala sa kadena sa gabi-gabi ikaw ay nasa selda ng hanapbuhay mo ngayon".
