The Top 24 artists of 'The Voice of the Philippines' from (clockwise from top-left) Team Apl, Team Bamboo, Team Sarah and Team Lea.

By the end of the first live episode of "The Voice of the Philippines," four artists will have already been eliminated.

The ABS-CBN reality talent search will field the first batch of competitors for its live shows on August 25, before some 1,500 audience members at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City.

Each of the four coaches - Broadway diva Lea Salonga, Popstar Sarah Geronimo, The Black Eyed Peas' Allan "apl.de.ap" Pineda and rock icon Bamboo Mañalac - will have three artists battling it out, for a total of 12 performances on Sunday.

Representing "Kamp Kawayan" in the first Live Shows episode are music graduate Myk Perez, 22, from Palawan; college student Talia Reyes, 21, from Quezon City; and professional singer Lee Grane, 28, from Makati.

Sarah will be fielding housewife Eva delos Santos, 51, from Cebu; theater actress Morissette Amon, 16, from Quezon City; and composer Junji Aranas, 36, from Makati.

Taking the stage for Team Lea are ex-Kulay member Radha Tinsay, 36, from Paranaque; freelance singer RJ dela Fuente, 27, from California; and indie music producer Darryl Shy 44, from Baguio.

Team Apl, meanwhile, will be represented by sidewalk vendor Cora dela Cruz, 27, from Cavite; student Jessica Reynoso, 16, from Laguna; and voice coach Thor Dulay, 32, from Davao del Norte.

Each of the 12 competing artists on Sunday, as in the international format of "The Voice," will be peforming songs selected for them by their respective coaches.

In a first on the Philippine television, voting for the artists will be done within the program's airing timeslot, with results announced by the end of the show.

After the performances of all three artists from a given team, viewers will be allowed to vote for around 10 minutes during the commercial break immediately following that round. The window for voting closes when the show resumes.

The same will apply for the remaining teams.

The artist who garners the highest number of votes from each team will be the first to be saved from eliminations. The coach will then have to choose who to save between the two remaining artists on his/her team.

The elimination for all four teams will be done at the end of the show.

According to the program's AdProm Head, MJ Felipe, viewers will be able to vote through text, E-pins, and online.

The full mechanics for voting will also be announced during the program. A voting window for Filipinos overseas, according to Felipe, will likewise be announced.

Ahead of the Live Shows, "The Voice of the Philippines" on Saturday will be airing the "Life Shows," which will feature the competing artists' life stories and special performances.

The Well-Loved Musical Theater Romance of Karylle Tatlonghari and Christian Bautista Returns in "Cinderella"

The Well-Loved Musical Theater Romance of Karylle Tatlonghari and Christian Bautista Returns in "Cinderella"

They started off as childhood friends in Kitchen Musical. She had enrolled and graduated from a posh culinary school in Paris and decided to work at her father’s famous restaurant, where she found him working as a dancing and singing sous chef.

Things got a bit more complicated after that. In Rama Hari, they found themselves crossing paths again when she, as his submissive wife, was abducted by an evil king. Eventually, they grew even closer when he reclaimed her freedom and eventually the kingdom.

Nowadays, she simply tends to the house, sweeping dust off the cinder, while answering to her stepsisters’ and stepmother’s every whim. He, on the other hand, is a prince who has developed a strange habit of dressing as a commoner hoping to find his one true love.

And when these two finally meet again, the encounter will certainly be nothing short of magical!

With Karylle Tatlonghari and Christian Bautista having already worked together on a number of theater and TV productions, the two matinee idols have inevitably formulated an explosive chemistry that makes sparks fly every time they perform together.

Playing alongside each other since 2011’s Kitchen Musical TV series and 2012’s Rama Hari, Karylle and Christian reunite once again this 2013 for Resorts World Manila’s production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, starting October 9 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater.

Karylle and I are set to re-discover ourselves here in Cinderella, despite having worked together for so long,” beamed Christian who will be playing Prince Christopher in the musical.

It’s always a good support system whenever you’re around people in theater,” offered Karylle who plays the lead role. “With the long hours we work together, the bond becomes even stronger especially with such familiar faces as Christian’s,” she added.

Though just a few months into rehearsals, the palpable chemistry between the two has been reportedly evident as both have manifested their excitement in playing their respective roles for Resorts World Manila’s fourth theater offering.

I really expressed my interest for the role,” confessed Christian. “I like being a part of Resorts World Manila productions as I admire their consistency in delivering such large-scale productions such as this one,” he added.

For Karylle, playing the part of Cinderella is sort of a dream come true. “Anyone can be a princess in her own way. But the positive message we want to relay with this Cinderella is that everyone is beautiful inside, and we should learn to embrace that. We should be open to the fact that everything is in fact possible,” she said.

For the production, Karylle and Christian will be joined by a roster of seasoned thespians and a few up-and-coming theater stars who will all pitch in for what promises to be a magical telling of a beloved and timeless classic.

At the helm is veteran stage actor/director Michael Williams, while supporting the leads are no less than the First Lady of Philippine Musical Theater Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo, Pinky Marquez, Sweet Plantado, Singapore-based theater star Julia Abueva, and rising stage actors Justine Peña and Fred Lo, among others.

In our continuing advocacy to promote the Filipino talent and performing arts culture in the country, Resorts World Manila is again proud to present our fourth major production, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella,” said RWM’s Chief Entertainment Officer Colin Kerr. “Resorts World Manila promises to wow audiences anew with this unique take on a beloved classic. With its large-scale sets, superb musical score by the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra, and of course an all-Filipino cast of stage greats acclaimed both here and abroad, Cinderella is another surefire triumph in the making,” Kerr added.

And anchoring on Karylle and Christian’s chemistry, their reunion in Cinderella will definitely be a magical experience every theater fan should witness.

Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella opens on October 9, at the Newport Performing Arts Theater, Resorts World Manila.

Action Thriller Movie “2 Guns” Composed of A-List Hollywood Stars

Action Thriller Movie “2 Guns” Composed of A-List Hollywood Stars

Starring alongside Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg in Columbia Pictures' new action thriller “2 Guns” are four A-list actors with impressive credentials - Paula Patton (“Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol”), Bill Paxton (HBO's “Big Love”), James Marsden (the “X-Men” series) and Edward James Olmos (TV's “Battlestar Galactica”).

In the film, two operatives – Bobby Trench (Washington) and Michael “Stig” Stigman (Wahlberg) from competing bureaus are forced on the run together. But there is a big problem with their unexpected partnership: Neither knows that the other is an undercover federal agent.

Baltasar Kormakur (“Contraband”) reteams directs “2 Guns” from a screenplay that is written by Blake Masters (TV's “Brotherhood”) and based on the Boom! Studios graphic novels by Steven Grant.

Paula Patton (who reunites with Washington for the first time since the 2006 sci-fi thriller, “Déjà Vu”) stars as Agent Deb Rees, Bobby’s handler at the DEA who further blurs the lines between on- and off-duty. Deb is torn between her feelings for Bobby and her desire to do right by herself. “I’ve always had a theory that the line between a crook and a good guy is a very fine one,” shares Patton. “Still, it’s challenging to work undercover and to pretend to be a crook. What is so great about `2 Guns' is that it’s rough, rugged, shoot-’em-up action with a bit of romance. But, more importantly, it also has a sense of humor about itself.”

Bill Paxton plays Earl, a honey-tongued CIA asset who is even tougher than the men he takes down. Earl is fond of preaching to his victims, meting out punishment to the “guilty, ignorant or unlucky” as he deems fit. “When I read the script, I was struck with its central theme of honor,” explais Paxton. “I liked the idea of all these supposedly honorable men who are loyal to these supposedly honorable organizations, but at the end of the day the only two men in the movie who have true honor are Bobby and Stig - because they're honorable to each other.”

James Marsden plays Lt. Cmdr. Quince, Stig’s point man in naval intelligence and permanent thorn in his side. Stig considers Quince above suspicion, but Quince might not be the straight arrow he appears. Because Quince holds Stig’s future over his head, the undercover agent bristles whenever his superior is around. Marsden explains their dynamic: “They joined the Navy around the same time, but my character shot up the ranks through the academy, aced every test. He’s a bit of a sociopath and very into his power; he’s the puppet master, the intellectual behind the plot. Quince has got his muscle behind him, but there are times when he gets his guns out and isn’t afraid to get his uniform dirty.”

Edward James Olmos stars as Papi Greco, an underworld drug warlord who is out to make Bobby and Stig regret the day they set foot on his ranch. “It’s a very well-written action-comedy between two ‘buddies’ that connects with the public,” notes Olmos. “What drew me to the story is the humoristic, but very honest, look at the contributions of different parts of the American government in the actual drug situation.”

Opening across the Philippines on September 18, “2 Guns” is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International. Visit www.columbiapictures.com.ph to see the latest trailers, get free downloads and play free movie games.

ABS-CBN Probes Anew on “Agosto Beinte-Uno: Ang Pagpatay kay Ninoy Aquino”

ABS-CBN Probes Anew on “Agosto Beinte-Uno: Ang Pagpatay kay Ninoy Aquino”

ABS-CBN revisits the assassination of former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. via a documentary “Agosto Beinte-Uno: Ang Pagpatay kay Ninoy Aquino” airing this Sunday (August 25).

Narrated by the veteran actor Jaime Fabregas, the documentary presents a painstaking research including review of court documents and testimonies of witnesses, analysis on the evidences, and interviews.

Among the interviewees are Atty. Mario Bautista, lawyer of one of the accused in the case, forensic expert Raquel Fortun and former chief of Metrocom Intelligence Group Col. Octavio Alvarez.

It also seeks to sustain the historical significance of Aquino’s assassination as it recedes from memory of the many, specially the youth, nowadays.

Thirty years ago, on August 21, 1983, Ninoy, was allegedly shot by Rolando Galman and killed at Manila International Airport. The tragedy sparked to series of events and protests including the historic EDSA People Power Revolution, which ended former President Ferdinand Marcos’ dictatorship.

Though the assigned fact-finding commission concluded that the crime was carried out by a military conspiracy, and several people had convicted and jailed, the tragedy remains a mystery as doubts and speculations still exist until now.

Atty. Bautista questioned how did Galman manage to get his gun through airport security. “It was a .357 revolver. If you are an assassin, you’ll never use a huge type of gun,” Bautista insisted.

Aside from the gunshot, another set of questions arose as the autopsy showed a contusion in Ninoy’s skull. “I don’t know whether he was beaten or his head was hit by a blunt object,” Fortun said.

Who really killed or ordered to kill Ninoy? Who had the motive and power to do it? How did the crime happen despite a tight security?

Don’t miss “Agosto Beinte-Uno: Ang Pagpatay kay Ninoy Aquino” this Sunday (Agosto 25), after “Gandang Gabi Vice” on ABS-CBN’s Sunday’s Best.

“We're The Millers” Characters Description

“We're The Millers” Characters Description

.A rambunctious bunch of talented actors led by Jennifer Aniston, Jason Sudeikis, Emma Roberts, Will Poulter and Ed Helms raises the marquee value of New Line Cinema's action comedy “We’re the Millers.”

Jason Sudeikis (“Horrible Bosses”) plays David Clark, a small-time pot dealer whose clientele includes chefs and soccer moms, but no kids - after all, he has his scruples. So what could go wrong? Plenty. A trio of gutter punks steals his stash and cash, leaving him in major debt to his supplier, Brad.

In order to wipe the slate clean - and maintain a clean bill of health - David must now become a big-time drug smuggler by bringing Brad’s latest shipment in from Mexico. Twisting the arms of his neighbors, cynical stripper Rose and wannabe customer Kenny, as well as streetwise teen Casey, David devises a foolproof plan. One fake wife, two pretend kids and a huge, shiny RV later, the “Millers” are headed south of the border for a Fourth of July weekend that is sure to end with a bang.

Jennifer Aniston (“Just Go With It”) portrays Rose who reluctantly accepts David’s proposal to be his “wife” only after she realizes she has no other choice. “She does not initially agree to sign on for this adventure because, despite being a stripper, she has morals, she has boundaries, and breaking the law is not something she is willing to do,” Aniston says. “But the rules are changing at work in a way that she doesn’t agree with, and she’s broke. And David’s offered to pay her a lot of money, so she feels she has no choice but to go along.”

But a wife is not going to be enough. To be a real family, they’ll need some fake kids. Along for the weekend as their “son,” is Kenny, played by young British actor Will Poulter (“The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader”). A lonely latchkey teen, who lives in David's building with his absentee mother, “Kenny is this 18-year-old virgin who views a local drug dealer as a father figure, and in many ways, he really is the heart of the movie,” director Rawson Marshall Thurber states. “Will plays him with just the right balance of sweetness and intelligence and naïveté.”

Pierced street punk Casey, played by Emma Roberts (“Valentine's Day”), rounds out the Miller family as the daughter David never wanted. Roberts allows that her character “is a runaway and a bit of a delinquent, a brat, a rebel, and in it for the money. The four of them, the Millers, could not be any more different; they’re all kind of loveable, but each character has a quirky shortcoming of some kind, which makes for a funny group. And a pretty realistic family, I think,” she laughs.

The Millers’ assignment comes at the behest of Brad, a major player in the Denver drug market and beyond. Ed Helms (“The Hangover” trilogy) took on the small but critical role and, much to the filmmakers’ delight, brought his own sense of wackiness to the part.

Brad is a drug kingpin who is both preppy and a little bit obsessed with orcas, and a very fun and very weird character to play,” Helms says. “He’s chipper, happy about life, but also somewhat sociopathic, which was a terrific combination of things to work with.”

New Line Cinema’s “We’re The Millers” opens across the Philippines on September 18 and is distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Superman Batman Reveals Exciting Twist

Ending weeks of speculation, Ben Affleck has been set to star as Batman, a.k.a. Bruce Wayne.  Affleck and filmmaker Zack Snyder will create an entirely new incarnation of the character in Snyder’s as-yet-untitled project - bringing Batman and Superman together for the first time on the big screen and continuing the director’s vision of their universe, which he established in “Man of Steel.”  The announcement was made today by Greg Silverman, President, Creative Development and Worldwide Production, and Sue Kroll, President, Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures.

The studio has slated the film to open worldwide on July 17, 2015 (including the Philippines).

Last month’s surprise announcement of the new movie featuring both Superman and Batman created a wave of excitement and immediately fueled discussion and debate - among fans as well as in the media - about who would put on the cape and cowl of Bruce Wayne’s alter ego.

Snyder successfully re-imagined the origin of Clark Kent/Superman in the worldwide blockbuster “Man of Steel,” which has earned more than $650 million worldwide to date, and climbing.  The director will now create an original vision of Batman and his world for the film that brings the two DC Comics icons together.

Affleck will star opposite Henry Cavill, who will reprise the role of Superman/Clark Kent.  The film will also reunite “Man of Steel” stars Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.

In the announcement, Silverman stated, “We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics’ most enduringly popular Super Heroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill, and then some.  His outstanding career is a testament to his talent and we know he and Zack will bring new dimension to the duality of this character.

Snyder also expressed his excitement about the casting of Affleck, noting, “Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry’s Superman.  He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne.  I can’t wait to work with him.”

Kroll added, “We are so thrilled that Ben is continuing Warner Bros.’ remarkable legacy with the character of Batman.

He is a tremendously gifted actor who will make this role his own in this already much-anticipated pairing of these two beloved heroes.”

Affleck recently starred in the Academy Award®-winning Best Picture “Argo,” which he also directed and produced, earning acclaim and a BAFTA Award nomination for his performance in the film, as well as a number of directing honors.  In 2010, he starred in and directed the hit crime thriller “The Town.”  His recent acting work also includes “The Company Men,” “State of Play,” and “Hollywoodland,” for which he received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor. Earlier in his career, Affleck starred in and co-wrote (with Matt Damon) “Good Will Hunting,” for which he won an Oscar® for Best Original Screenplay.

The new Super Hero film is being scripted by David S. Goyer from a story he co-created with Zack Snyder.  Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder are producing, with Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan and Wesley Coller serving as executive producers. Production is expected to begin in 2014.

The film is based on Superman characters created by Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster, and Batman characters created by Bob Kane, published by DC Entertainment.

Randy Santiago to Claudine Barretto: "I'm so disappointed in you!"; Claudine to Santiago Brothers: "Bastos. Maglabasan nalang tayo ng baho ngayon!"

Randy Santiago, in his interview with Rappler.com, said he doesn't want to meddle with anything that's going on now with the marriage of his younger brother Raymart and estranged wife Claudine Barretto.

Claudine, on July 29, has filed a Temporary Protection Order (TPO) against Raymart at the Marikina Regional Trial Court.

"As much as possible, ayokong makialam. Away nilang mag-asawa 'yan.  Pero it’s getting too personal and unfair for Raymart. He has kept quiet in all that has been happening. Hindi kaya ni Raymart na manakit. He will only defend but will not attacked anybody." Randy said.

"Now, he deserves the protection he needs from his own family who knows him more than anybody...to protect him from all these ridiculous lies. I am so disappointed in Claudine." the singer added.

Bring it on!

"Kasi ang pinagkaiba ng baho ng mga Barrettos sa baho ng mga Santiago, yung sa amin naaamoy. Yung sa kanila, pag lumabas, ikakasira talaga nila.

"Ayaw ko ng binabastos ako. Hindi na ako papayag. Nabastos na ako noon. Huwag nila akong babastusin."

Vice Ganda, Sam Milby, Kim Chiu and Jericho Rosales Share Thoughts on Fortune Telling

Kapamilya stars share their take on fortune telling to Atom Araullo this Friday (Aug 23), who probes why Filipinos are so fascinated by getting their futures told in “Hiwaga.”

Sam Milby and Robi Domingo may not believe too much in fortune telling too much but they have had experiences that made them think twice on whether it’s real or just a mere coincidence.

Someone told me before that I’ll get into an accident and that same year, it did happen. My van overturned,” Sam shared.

The fortune teller said that in the near future I will hold a microphone and that is actually what I am doing now. I am now a TV host,” Robi recounted.

But not all celebrities believe in what fortunetellers say like Vice Ganda, Kim Chiu, and Jericho Rosales who revealed that they are not really fans of “hula.”

I don’t want to know what awaits me in the future because I just want to live in the now,” according to Vice.

Atom probes further and talks to Andy Tan, a card reader who claimed to have foreseen Mayor Joseph Estrada’s return to politics in 2013, and a fortuneteller who has seen disasters such as typhoons way before it happened.

Can these predictions really come true? Will Atom himself have less doubt once he learns what the psychics see for him?

Don’t miss “Hiwaga” this Friday (Aug 23), 4:15 PM on ABS-CBN’s Kapamilya Gold.

Star Records Launches Newest Artists ‘Perkins Twins’ and ‘The Angelos’

Star Records recently launched two new vocal boy groups under its label: the Fil-Am tennis heartthrobs turned pop duo ‘Perkins Twins’ and the classical-pop tenor trio, ‘The Angelos.’

Perkins Twins–composed of fraternal twins Jesse Perkins and Christian Perkins – are the voices behind the theme song of Boy Abunda’s “Ikaw Na” segment in ABS-CBN’s late night newscast “Bandila.”
The duo shared that their upcoming debut album under Star Records includes a mix of English and Filipino songs, some of which were composed by them, while their digitally released most requested hit single “Ikaw Na” was composed by a multi-awarded veteran songwriter Vehnee Saturno.

When asked about their dream collaborations, Perkins Twins have their top choices. “We would love to work with talented sisters Toni and Alex Gonzaga and the Philippines’ biggest female Pop Star Sarah Geronimo.”

Meanwhile, The Angelos–composed of George Tagle, Paolo Libiran, and Louie Abaigar – who are known as Asia’s I’ll Divo are ready to reintroduce itself not as hardcore classical group but a dynamic trio who can turn popular hits into all-time classics.

We want to educate listeners that classical music need not to be intimidating,” said The Angelos. “We fuse favorite pop melodies and give them music that is something new and pleasing to their ears.

If given a chace, The Angelos would like to collaborate with OPM icons including Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievara, Jed Madela and Bamboo.

The Angelos’ recently released album under Star Records carries eight tracks with one original composition entitled “The Calling”. It also features classical-pop revivals of ‘The Prayer,’ ‘Lipad ng Pangarap,’ ‘Paano Kita Pasasalamatan,’ ‘Ano’ng Nangyari Sa Ating Dalawa,’ and ‘Always You.’

Star Records’ digital tracks of Perkins Twins and The Angelos can be downloaded via iTunes, Amazon.com and MyMusicStore.com.ph.

Fans of Perkins Twins can follow them at perkinstwins.com, www.facebook.com/perkinstwins and twitter.com/PerkinsTwins. The Angelos’ website is www.theangelos.net.

“One Direction: This Is Us” Movie Helmed by Self-Confessed 1D Fan Morgan Spurlock

“One Direction: This Is Us” Movie Helmed by Self-Confessed 1D Fan Morgan Spurlock

When Academy Award-nominated documentary filmmaker Morgan Spurlock was approached to make “One Direction: This Is Us” – a movie about One Direction - he jumped at the chance.

One of the things I’ve always tried to do from the very beginning of my career is create very popular documentaries,” says the “Super Size Me” director. “And I think that this film, coming off the work I’ve done in the past is the next step. Making something that’s successful to a large audience that tells a great story, that is really intimate and gets you into their lives, but at the same time, is also really entertaining and engaging, with great music.

Naturally, meeting bandmembers Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson was important. Spurlock found the boys completely charming but also level-headed about the phenomenon they were in the middle of experiencing. Notes Spurlock, “They’re very fun. I think they’re incredibly grounded considering the amount of crazy that’s surrounding their lives on a daily basis. And I think that was one of the things that I really liked about them.”

It’s not enough, says Spurlock, that they’re “five good looking guys that get put together in a band. That happens all the time. But the fact that, you know, they actually had the talent and the ability and the drive to kind of push it as far as they have, and continue to do, is remarkable.”

Spurlock filmed in various locales for almost six months, including the band’s performance in Mexico City in early June, 2013. The crew number ranged anywhere from Spurlock alone holding a camera without even an audio person, to fully coordinated concert set-ups involving, says the director, “an army of people.” Filming the band’s O2 performances alone were massive undertakings for someone used to the run-and-gun nature of most documentaries. Says Spurlock, “Probably about, I don’t know, 250 people were working on the concert when we shot at the O2, it was massive.”

As for the behind-the-scenes footage, which runs the gamut from backstage mischief before the show to touching hometown scenes, like Harry working at the family bakery, those moments alone amounted to 500 hours of material. Editing it down was challenging, but the band were instrumental in helping Spurlock and the editors pick the most choice moments. Says Spurlock, “They’ve given really insightful feedback about things that are very personal to them … to things that they remembered that we shot that we have forgotten about, and to remind us to dig and find. It was like, ‘Oh my gosh, you’re right, that was a great moment.’”

For producer Cowell, Spurlock was the ideal choice as director because he was never going to stage scenes or manufacture magic. “Morgan is somebody who likes to kind of eavesdrop,” says Cowell. “He wants to pick stuff up without people realizing that they’re being filmed and that’s his skill and he’s very patient. It’s not about set pieces or ‘Do this for the camera.’ He’s just put the cameras in all these different places and he’s just filmed what it’s like being in this group. It’s fascinating.”

What ultimately emerged from the editing process was the sense that moviegoers were going to get a special peek into the members’ lives. Adds Spurlock, “You feel like you really do get to become a part of this journey and these boys and this band.” It could even generate new fans, he suggests. “I think every One Direction fan should take someone who isn’t a One Direction fan, because I think when people see the movie, they’ll see a different side to these boys that they probably didn’t think existed or they didn’t think they would enjoy. And I bet they’ll convert a lot more fans than they think they will.

As for the decision to film the 02 concerts in 3D, Cowell says it’s “unbelievable. The 3D is sensational. It actually makes the concert like being there. It’s really clever.”

None of "One Direction: This Is Us" would have happened, however, if the boys hadn’t put their faith in the project, and from the get-go, they all believed in what could be achieved.

There’s a tremendous amount of trust you have to have, between you and the subjects that are in the film,” says Spurlock. “It takes time. It takes conversations. You have to spend time with one another to talk, feel comfortable, and know that this person is there to tell an honest story about you, and tell a story that you ultimately want to be told. And, you know, I give them credit. I mean, they were really open and honest with us about their lives, their fears, about the things that were going on with them, and kind of letting us come into their world. It’s a big undertaking, and it takes a lot of courage, and they were fantastic about it.”

In the end, says the director, the boys in One Direction understood that this was an opportunity to document a special time in their lives. “They realize this movie is a time capsule,” notes Spurlock. “They already know how special it is, and to be able to have something like this where you can really show – whether it be your family down the road, your kids down the road, something you just want to keep for yourself – that really does capture the essence of this moment in its purest form.” Adds Spurlock, “I think they’ll treasure this whole experience.”

And is he now a fan?

Listen, I’ve seen thirty-plus One Direction concerts at this point,” says Spurlock. “I am like a hardcore Directioner now!

Opening across the Philippines on Friday, August 30, “One Direction: This Is Us” is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International. Visit www.columbiapictures.com.ph to see the latest trailers, get free downloads and play free movie games.
