Derek Ramsay Stars in the Movie "Please Don't Ask Me" Opposite Heart Evangelista and Cristine Reyes

Kapatid actor Derek Ramsay, during the pocket presscon for his latest TV5 action-series "Undercover" on Thursday night at Annabel's Restaurant in Quezon City, revealed that he is set to do a movie very soon with Kapuso actress Heart Evangelista and Kapamilya blockbuster queen Cristine Reyes. John Estrada will also join the cast as Derek's older brother.

Tentatively titled "Please Don't Ask Me," this dark drama movie to be produced by Viva Films will challenge both his acting and emotional capacity according to Derek.

It’s a drama with some pyschological elements. Iba yung twist ng story. It’s something, kung nangyari talaga ito sa totoong buhay grabe...psycho. Sobrang ganda ng story and I can’t wait to start,” he said of

Aside from PDAM, Derek also said that he is currently in talks to do two separate movies with Kapuso actresses Lovi Poe, Solenn Heussaff and Marian Rivera.

“The Wolverine” Set Out to a Deadly Journey in Japan

“The Wolverine” Set Out to a Deadly Journey in Japan

Set in Japan and directed by James Mangold Logan aka Wolverine played by Hugh Jackman is back in the ultimate story about the adamantium-clawed hero, “The Wolverine.”

“The Wolverine,” vulnerable and alone at the start of the movie, is searching for meaning in his life.  Logan travels to Tokyo where he is embroiled in a mysterious web of tangled loyalties, deceit and intrigue, fighting bloody battles against deadly adversaries in a world that is entirely foreign to him.

The most iconic character in the X-Men universe embarks upon on an epic journey in modern-day Japan, the century-old mutant known to the world as Wolverine, is lured to Japan that he hasn’t seen since World War II – and into a shadowy world of Yakuza and Samurai.

Suddenly finding himself on the run with a mysterious, beautiful heiress and confronted for the first time with the prospect of true mortality, Logan will be pushed to the physical and emotional edge – further than he’s ever been. On a perilous journey to rediscover the hero inside, Logan will be forced to grapple not only with powerful foes, mutant and human alike, but with the ghosts of his own haunted past, as well. As The Wolverine crosses his adamantium claws with Samurai swords, striking out through a maze of love, betrayal and honor, he will truly come to know the price of a life without end.

This story takes The Wolverine into a world that is vastly different from any seen before in the X-Men series,” says Hugh Jackman, who also serves as a producer on the film.  “It’s visually different and the tone is different.  There are a lot of battles in this story, but the greatest battle of all is the one within Logan between being a monster and a becoming a human being.”

Jackman saw in this untold part of the character’s history a rare chance to dive even deeper beneath The Wolverine’s indestructibility, and to illuminate his darkest aspects in a new way.
One thing I find particularly interesting about Wolverine is his immortality, the fact that with his healing factor he can go on forever like a god, and because of that he also experiences the loneliness of a god.  Even when Logan loses those he loves, he knows that he will keep going on,” director James Mangold observes. “He’s been going on for a century now, through wars and battles and deaths of his loved ones and he’s come to a point of great weariness.  It’s a classic theme– the man who can live forever but suffers because of it. Logan is a damaged hero, and this story is very much about him looking to reclaim something he’s lost in himself.”

Jim Mangold knows how to make a movie that is fun, has incredible action, and yet also delivers all the finer elements of character and storytelling,” says Jackman. “He pushed me to go deeper, angrier, heavier, more berserk in every way and in every take.

From the start, Mangold wanted to break the mold of the comic book-based film. Explains the director:  “What interested me about The Wolverine was doing something quite different from the standard superhero movie, where it’s about stopping a villain’s diabolical plot. In this story, the action and suspense are built more on character, and are woven into a world that makes for a completely different kind of experience, one that you haven’t seen before.”

“The Wolverine” opens in more than 200 screens nationwide on July 25 from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.

GMA International Supports Vancouver's Original Pinoy Music (OPM) Festival 2013

GMA International – the business unit handling GMA Network’s three international channels – celebrates Filipino music by partnering once again with the Filipino Canadian Marketing Group (FCMG) in presenting the annual Vancouver’s Original Pinoy Music (OPM) Festival in Canada.

Filipinos are known music-lovers and this fact rings true wherever they may be in the world.  Launched in 2012, this year’s Vancouver Original Pinoy Music Festival 2013 is slated to be held at the Plaza of Nations, 750 Pacific Boulevard in Vancouver, on Sunday, July 21st, from 3:30 pm – 9:30 pm. Admission is FREE for all our Filipino-Canadian kababayans. Joining them would be the popular Kapuso loveteam, the hunk Aljur Abrenica and talented actress Kris Bernal, both survivors of the reality-based artista search StarStruck: The Next Level. They will have a meet-and-greet on July 19, 2013 at Max’s Restaurant Cuisine of the Philippines on Kingsway in Vancouver.

About 5,000 people are expected to attend this event with the tagline “Ipagdiwang ang Musikang Pinoy!”, with OPM Queen Joey Albert, who migrated to Canada in 1994, also set to perform in the Festival. The event also boosts local Filipino talents by providing them a venue to showcase their singing prowess. Local Filipino talents joining this year include KrewMatik, Supremong Musikero, Vancouver's Philippine Consulate General's Singing Prodigy "Jandy", Marion Torres, Morgan Holmstrom, Ria Jade, Reyfort Media Talents, Dynamix Band, and First Inversion Band; with a few to showcase their own original compositions. Truly, the OPM Festival commemorates great Filipino composers and artists from decades past, celebrates Pinoy Pride, and, most importantly, aims to bring Filipinos closer together while bringing back good old memories from the homeland through the music they have known and loved.

We are very excited to hold this year’s Vancouver Original Pinoy Music Festival! We strongly believe that despite living abroad, it is important to embrace our Filipino roots, culture, traditions, and what better way to do it than through our very own music. I would say that over 80% of Filipino households own some kind of karaoke system which proves our love and passion for music. We are so pleased and honored to partner with GMA International which truly supports Filipino talents both locally and internationally and we hope to continue this community service for many years to come,” shares Faye Nalicat-Auyong, FCMG President.

GMA Pinoy TV, GMA Life TV and GMA News TV International are available on Telus, MTS AllStream, Shaw and Bell TV. Sam Mendez Returns to Direct 24th "James Bond" Movie

Producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, EON Productions; Gary Barber, Chairman & CEO, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer; Michael Lynton, CEO, Sony Entertainment, Inc, and Amy Pascal, Co-Chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment today announced that Daniel Craig will once again return as the legendary British secret agent in the 24th James Bond film and Sam Mendes will also return to direct the screenplay written by John Logan.  The film is set for release in UK theaters on October 23, 2015 and in US theaters on November 6, 2015.

SKYFALL™, the 23rd James Bond film, took in $1.1 billion worldwide and set a new mark as the highest-grossing film of all time in the UK; it was the best-selling Bond film on DVD/Blu-ray and was the most critically acclaimed film in the history of the longest-running film franchise.

Commenting on the announcement, Wilson and Broccoli said, "Following the extraordinary success of SKYFALL, we're really excited to be working once again with Daniel Craig, Sam Mendes and John Logan.

"I am very pleased that by giving me the time I need to honour all my theatre commitments, the producers have made it possible for me to direct Bond 24. I very much look forward to taking up the reins again, and to working with Daniel Craig, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli for a second time,” said Mendes.

Barber added, “We are thrilled to reunite the extraordinary talents of director Sam Mendes with our star Daniel Craig for the next great Bond adventure.” He added, “As evidenced by the phenomenal success of our last collaboration with EON Productions and Sony, the incredible legacy of this 51-year-old franchise continues to amaze.”

Lynton and Pascal said, “It’s a privilege to work on the Bond films. EON, John Logan and Sam Mendes have come up with an extraordinary follow up to SKYFALL and we, along with our partners at MGM, can’t wait to share this new chapter with audiences all over the world.”

Find Out How the Hero Dog ‘Kabang’ Saved the Life, Family of her Master Tonight on GMA-7

Find Out How the Hero Dog ‘Kabang’ Saved the Life, Family of her Master Tonight on GMA-7

Who would have thought that an “askal” (stray dog) would become a celebrated hero? Not even the dog’s master, Rudy, thought the once homeless canine, which he found one day wandering on a street, was capable of doing the heroic acts that she did.

In June this year, Kabang saved Rudy’s daughter, Dinah, and her cousin from being run over by a motorcycle. Before the motorcycle could hit the girls, Kabang jumped in front of it and used her body to stop the vehicle.  As a result, the dog suffered a severe injury to her snout and upper jaw, eventually losing half her face.

Soon, stories about Kabang’s heroism sprouted on the internet and eventually were picked up by the mainstream media not only in the Philippines but also abroad.  Netizens, especially dog lovers, took pity on Kabang. Not long, cash donations poured in for her treatment and hopefully, for a reconstructive surgery of her face.

In 2013, Kabang was sent to the United States to undergo treatment.  Although the doctors were not able to bring back the dog’s missing snout, they successfully treated her wounds and other pre-existing ailments.  In June, Kabang was given a hero’s welcome on her return to the Philippines and was reunited with her owner, Rudy.

This Saturday, July 13, the GMA drama anthology program “Magpakailanman” will feature Kabang’s heroism and the life story of her owner Rudy Bunggal.

When he was young, Rudy dreamed of serving his country by entering the military but his mom, Felicisima, strongly opposed the idea. Distraught by his mom’s disapproval, Rudy left home and started his own family with his wife Cristina.  Years later, Rudy longed to see his mom and began searching for her but to no avail.

One day, while watching the news on television about Kabang’s heroic deed, Felicisima saw Rudy as he was being interviewed about his dog.  This paved the way for a reunion between Felicisima and her son after so many years of having no contact whatsoever.

At the end of the day, Kabang not only saved the life of Rudy’s daughter and niece, she also healed the wounds of her master’s troubled past.

Watch Kabang and Rudy’s story in an episode entitled “Kabang: Hero Dog” in “Magpakailanman” airing this Saturday, July 13, after “Vampire Ang Daddy Ko” (approx. 8:00pm) on GMA-7.

Hosted by veteran journalist Mel Tiangco, the episode stars Jillian Ward, Snooky Serna, and Mr. Ricky Davao.

Director Jun Lana to Marry Longtime Boyfriend TV5 Executive Perci Intalan in October

Acclaimed director Jun Lana (Bwakaw, Yesterday Today Tomorrow and My Neighbor's Wife) and TV5 Head of Creative and Entertainment Production Perci Intalan will soon tie the knot in New York, USA.

After celebrating their 10 years of being together last July 9, the happy gay couple posted on their Instagram accounts a photo of identical platinum rings, said to be their 10th anniversary gift to each other, and an announcement that they are to escalate their relationship to the next level - that is getting married this coming October in the city where dreams are truly made of.

Intalan captioned the photo with “you are cordially invited” while Lana's comment reads “I used to think that marriage was just between a man and a pregnant woman. Never have I been so happy to be wrong.”

In his text message to PEP, Intalan described how their wedding plans started. “We plan to get married on October in New York. We have friends there and I have a brother there also. But we do plan to celebrate here, too. The rings are our engagement rings, I suppose. Not sure what the protocol is for rings for gay weddings, honestly.” he said. Adding, “Neither of us popped the question. We just knew. We have always thought of getting married though. What we decided together that night was to post it on FB and it took us a while to decide on the caption. We agreed on ‘you are cordially invited.’”

Congratulations and Best Wishes!

Charice Named "Hottest Lesbian in the World" by US LGBT Website autostraddle

Barely two months after Charice shocked the world by admitting her true sexual preference (watch the video HERE), known multi-awarded US LGBT website autostraddle.com awarded her as "Hottest Lesbian in the World" out of the 105 accomplished women worldwide who happen to like women as well.

In the website's article titled "The ALTERNATIVE Autostraddle Hot 105: Hotties You Will Like Who Also Like Girls" Charice was described as "Intelligent, hilarious & provocative voice and a progressively feminist online community for a new generation of kickass lesbian, bisexual & otherwise inclined ladies (and their friends)."

Read autostraddle.com full description of Charice below:

We f****ng love this girl so hard. Charice started performing as a child, participating in nearly 100 contests and eventually making it to the final rounds of Little Big Star in 2005. Her big debut actually came via YouTube about two years later when Dave DueƱas' posting of Charice's performance videos racked up over 15 million hits, making her an official Internet Sensation. From there things basically took off - she made a demo with Ten Songs/Productions in Sweden, appeared on South Korean talent show Star King and eventually made her first trip to the United States in December 2007 to appear on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

“Her debut album, Charice, was released in May 2008 and would eventually go platinum in The Philippines. Oprah Winfrey featured Charice in her "World's Most Talented Kids" episode which led to Charice working with music producer David Foster, which led to her appearing on Hitman: David Foster and Friends, which became a thing on PBS, apparently, and also at some point Oprah called Charice 'the most talented girl in the world.'

"Charice performed at Andrea Bocelli's birthday concert and performed with Celine Dion and by 2009 was performing at US presidential pre-inaugural events and pre-Oscar award events and at major league baseball opening games. (In 2010, she'd sing the Philippine National Anthem at the inauguration of Philippine President Benigno Aquino III.)

“She released her second, 22-track album, My Inspiration, in May 2009, which included a duet with her Mom, which is adorable. The album went platinum in The Philippines and her first single debuted high on U.S. and Canadian Billboard charts. Her international debut album Charice, released May 2010, reached #8 on the Billboard charts and she popped up all over the U.S., like that time she was on Oprah with Justin Bieber and that time she played Sunshine Corazon in Season Two of Glee.

“Charice has been struggling with her family since coming out a month ago, but is finding love/happiness with her girlfriend Alyssa Quijano, who sings in the female vocal group AKA Jam and was a contestant on The X Factor Philippines, where Charice was a judge on the show. She's currently working on her third studio album, which she says will contain a lot of cover songs and has returned to twitter on a new handle and her fans remain behind her. Maybe she should return to Glee and date Santana or something. OH MY GOD WHAT IF SHE RETURNED TO GLEE AND DATED SANTANA OR SOMETHING.”

When asked for reaction, Charice only has this to say, "Mabuhay ang mga shiboli!"
