Sam Concepcion Replaces Luis Manzano as MYX VJ?

There seems to be nothing that Sam Concepcion could not do. He won a singing contest, topbilled numerous musical theater shows, starred in TV and movie projects – all these earned him adulation from fans. Now, he dabbles into a new field by being the newest MYX VJ.

With his vast exposure in the music scene, Sam is definitely a shoo-in for the job. Sam is one of the homegrown artists of Universal Records, his record label for the past eight years. Sam has released three albums, which spawned hits like Forever Young, Even If, Happy, Kung Fu Fighting, Miss You, and Someone.

When asked how he feels about his new assignment, Sam quips, “this is entirely different from what I do usually being a singer. I only get to do these things when MYX asks me to be Celebrity MYX VJ, but now I get to do this for a longer time. It is exciting for me because, really, my core is music. I am glad that I was given this chance.

With his humor and gift of gab, Sam intends to reach out to the younger market and encourage them to support the music industry, most especially OPM.

Sam is set to release his fourth album under Universal Records, which promises to present the new SAM.

You can watch Sam on MYX in the Wednesday edition of MYX Daily Top Ten and episodes of MYX Take 5, Pop MYX, Pinoy MYX, and My MYX.

ABS-CBN Set to Deliver an Up-to-Date, In-depth Halalan 2013 News Coverage

Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

ABS-CBN Set to Deliver an Up-to-Date, In-depth Halalan 2013 News Coverage

ABS-CBN, the country’s largest broadcast news organization, will provide 360-degree news coverage on different media platforms and deliver public service on-ground on Monday (May 13) when millions of Filipinos troop to polling precincts to cast their votes and choose their next batch of leaders.

“It has become a company tradition for ABS-CBN to devote all of its resources to this important coverage. Technology has become more sophisticated through the years and we have utilized different tools in support of the coverage itself, but what hasn’t changed is our commitment to cover this political exercise and present all aspects of the polls as completely as possible,” said Ging Reyes, head of the ABS-CBN Integrated News and Current Affairs.

Viewers can rely on ABS-CBN to give them real-time updates from its team of seasoned broadcast journalists ‘Kabayan’ Noli De Castro, Korina Sanchez, Ted Failon, Ces Drilon, Karen Davila, Julius Babao, Lynda Jumilla, Tony Velasquez, Anthony Taberna, Bernadette Sembrano, Pinky Webb, and Prof. Randy David who will deliver up-to-date news stories, vote count, and in-depth analyses of reports from over 30 live points in the country from 5 AM on Monday (May 13) to noon on Tuesday (May 14).

ABS-CBN will also utilize augmented reality to help viewers understand reports better and an interactive map that will monitor the latest results and candidate information in key areas.

Aside from giving groundbreaking news coverage, ABS-CBN will also put up “Bayan Mo, iPatrol Mo” stations all over the country where voters can ask information about their precincts and other poll-related concerns. The BMPM team will then link them to the authorized government agencies and groups.

Moreover, the BMPM stations will serve as centers where voters in the area can file reports about election irregularities and problems and will have first aid personnel and equipment on stand-by to respond to medical emergencies.

This public service effort anchors on the influence of BMPM and its half a million Bayan Patrollers who are prepared to share election-related information from their areas to ensure honest and peaceful elections.

Citizen engagement and the movement for change are a constant. Both of them go on even without an election. That’s how dedicated we are to the idea of citizen involvement and that is the reason we start really early,” said Reyes, emphasizing why ABS-CBN’s “Halalan 2013” coverage and “BMPM Tayo Na” movement were launched a year before the May 13 polls.

ABS-CBN’s “Halalan 2013” coverage is also defined by its “KampanyaSerye” documentaries, which made voters more involved and informed on some of the hotly contested local races, and the “Harapan 2013” live debates that gave all senatorial candidates a platform to present what they stand for.

“KampanyaSerye” will swing into high gear on May 13, as ABS-CBN reporters reexamine the electoral rivalries featured in the series and highlight the results in areas like Manila, Masbate, Cavite, Cebu, among others. This aims to contextualize what the results mean to the electorate by putting the spotlight on the newly elected candidates to remind them of the promises they made during the campaign season.

ABS-CBN’s “Halalan 2013” coverage was launched a year before the May elections to provide information to voters so they can make informed choices based on their vision for the country.

Working hand in hand with ABS-CBN in this historic “Halalan 2013” coverage are the Commission on Elections, Department of Foreign Affairs Overseas Absentee Voting Secretariat, Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting, Pulse Asia Inc., and Regional Emergency Assistance Communications System (REACT) Philippines, corporate sponsors Globe Telecom, STI College, Universal Motors Corporation, and MyPhone’s Solid Group, Inc. “Halalan 2013” also tapped The Philippine Star, Business World, Manila Bulletin, and Business Mirror as its print partners and Fully Abled Nation, Management Association of the Philippines, YouthVote Philippines, and Alternative Law Groups as its cause partners. Also joining ABS-CBN’s campaign for clean elections are educational institutions such as the University of the Philippines system, La Consolacion College, University of Sto. Tomas, Ateneo School of Government, and La Salle Institute of Governance.

GMA News and Public Affairs Ready for its Biggest, Most Comprehensive "Eleksyon 2013" Coverage

GMA News and Public Affairs Ready for its Biggest, Most Comprehensive "Eleksyon 2013" Coverage

GMA News and Public Affairs mounts its biggest, most comprehensive election coverage this Eleksyon 2013, reestablishing itself yet again as the Philippines’ news authority.

Running a full 28 hours from 4:30 AM on election day until the morning after, GMA’s news teams will be reporting from a total of 47 strategically selected live remote points throughout Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao including the GMA originating regional stations Cebu, Davao, Dagupan, Ilocos, Naga, Iloilo, Cagayan de Oro and satellite stations Bacolod and General Santos.

Using the latest in transmission technology including a Digital Mobile News Gathering System, live reports will be sent to GMA’s election hub: a two storey set that took weeks to construct inside the largest - almost 1000 square meter - GMA network studio. The Eleksyon 2013 set includes a massive data and call center desk and an all-new social media center - with a Google Hangout which will allow the public to engage in discussions with moderators and guests throughout the coverage - in addition to the traditional anchors’ and talk areas. Adjacent to it, a fully equipped election war room to handle coordination among hundreds of staffers has been prepared.

GMA News and Public Affairs pillars Mel Tiangco, Mike Enriquez, Vicky Morales, Arnold Clavio, Howie Severino and Jessica Soho will lead the coverage, providing analysis as to the hows and whys of the country’s second automated elections. They will be utilizing state of the art computer graphics technology as they anchor: including virtual screens and a new tracking system to enhance the presentation of real time immersive graphics, similar to what was used by CNN during their 2012 U.S. Presidential election coverage.

In 2010, GMA led all media organizations in providing a consistently fast, accurate and uninterrupted count as soon as the first PCOS machines transmitted the numbers. Viewers can expect even more from GMA this 2013, the network will be able to provide information as to how each national candidate performs - not only nationwide, but as far down as city level.

GMA’s news pillars, reporters and producers from its television, radio, web and social media platforms come together for Eleksyon 2013 in an effort to deliver information to as many people as possible. The coverage will be supported by GMA’s election partners – COMELEC, PLDT, Smart Communications, the Catholic Media Network, the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism, AMA Education System and the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting, among many others.

Even citizen journalists have been tapped to contribute. In preparation for Eleksyon 2013, GMA News Online conducted a series of training workshops for these journalists – they will be posting video, photos and information on election day through GMA’s YouScoop website.

To further ensure accuracy in its reports, former COMELEC Commissioner and Associate Justice of the Court of Appeals Teresita Dy-Liacco Flores will serve as GMA News and Public Affairs’ in-house election consultant throughout the coverage.

GMA News Online will highlight social media in this election coverage, using web applications powered by U.S. based social media visualization company Mass Relevance. The Kandidato Buzz Index application visualizes which candidates are most talked about on Facebook and Twitter, while the Voting Experience Poll will allow social media users to report problems they have while voting.

GMA News and Public Affairs has gone all out for Eleksyon 2013. Weeks before election day, GMA Public Affairs aired a slew of specials aimed at voter education including the programs Bayan Ko, Paninindigan, Pagsubok ng mga Kandidato, Camera Juan, Kandidato, Landas, Kasaysayan ng Eleksyon, the Dapat Tama Advocacy Ads and Bilog videos among others. On election day itself, GMA Network will be connected to COMELEC’s mirror server - which guarantees immediate vote results from the polls.

The right to suffrage is the great equalizer – giving the power back to the people in choosing their leaders. GMA News and Public Affairs takes its responsibility to serve as the voters’ watchdog closely to heart. All its efforts for the Eleksyon 2013 coverage are firmly grounded in an advocacy that has become the organization’s rallying cry this season: Dapat Tama or doing what is right for the sake of the nation.

Sebastian Castro "How to Avoid HIV" Fun Instructional Video

Sebastian Castro "How to Avoid HIV" Fun Instructional Video

As part of the "Love Yourself" campaign by FLY, an organization responsible for spreading an HIV awareness to men who have sex with men (MSM), has released a fun instructional video  called "How to Have Sex and Avoid HIV" that aims to educate gay men about safe sex, thus, avoid getting infected with HIV featuring the out and proud gay Peruvian-Japanese model Sebastian Castro.

Love Yourself  Statement:

RITM/LoveYourself: 5-fold Increase in People Getting Tested for HIV
The Love Yourself Hub, a clinic and events space jointly operated by the community-based organization Love Yourself and the Department of Health’s Research Institute for Tropical Medicine, posted its first quarter results for 2013, registering a 5-fold increase in the number of people accessing its free HIV testing services, compared to the same quarter last year. A total of 1,028 individuals came to the Malate-based facility during the period January to March 2013, while during the same period in 2012, there were 171.
Such impressive growth in clientele is consistent with the velocity of increase as observed throughout 2012, with average growth rate of 24% per month.
The partnership between a private non-governmental organization Love Yourself and the government’s Research Institute of Tropical Medicine (RITM) was key to this success. “We were both able to leverage our strengths – RITM is one of the country’s centers for HIV-related services, while our group had the marketing savvy to connect the clients to the needed services,” explains Ian Felix Alquiros, Director for Partnerships at Love Yourself. “This is an example of success for a public-private partnership program.”
Another critical driver to this success is the distinctive way with which Love Yourself reaches out to the community in encouraging people to pay attention and act on the spreading HIV epidemic. Since its inception, Love Yourself has consciously stayed away from using fear-based tactics to elicit attention and behavior change related to HIV prevention. “We believe that we serve the community best by keeping HIV talk away from grim and scare. In all our communication, we highlight the positive side of things. In the midst of the epidemic, we fight fear with love, and we keep on smiling!” says Love Yourself president and founder, Ronivin Pagtakhan, a nurse by profession.
In the first quarter of 2013, Love Yourself launched ‘Project Indulge’ – a marketing campaign that uses imagery of mostly nude men that mainstreams HIV testing, essentially saying that it should be part of one’s regular wellness regimen. ‘Project Indulge’ has been noticed by international groups and media, hailing it as among the world’s most innovative campaigns on HIV prevention."

A new batch of i-Shiners is on the way with the launch of Promil Pre-School i-Shine Talent Camp 2, a reality TV program that aims to discover the most talented pre-schoolers in the country and together with their parents, further hone their gifts to excellence.

Already on its second year, Promil Pre-School i-Shine Talent Camp has grown to become bigger and better offering more comprehensive development programs, bigger prizes and standout winners. Open to kids above three to seven years old, the program will be divided into three main performing categories–singing, dancing and acting–with the top scorers bringing home P200,000 in cash. The Grand i-Shiner, determined by the participant with the highest marks, will also bring home an additional P300,000 in cash, Star Magic and Promil Pre-School Talent contracts and 1-year supply of Promil Pre-School.

This year, another batch of celebrated performers will mentor the young contestants to bring out their best talents. The new mentors are led by award-winning actor, recording artist and movie producer Piolo Pascual. With Piolo are acclaimed stage actress and acting coach Pinky Amador and G-Force founder dance instructor and choreographer Georcelle Dapat.

The impressive credentials and vast experiences of the celebrity coaches will undoubtedly make them the ideal guiding hands that will mold contestants whose ages range from above 3 to 7 years old.

Aside from the coaches, Promil Pre-School i-Shine Talent Camp 2 will also feature the returning hosts Dimples Romana, Matteo Guidicelli and Xian Lim return for the second season. All three are successful performers who are living proof of what early training can produce.

Promil Pre-School i-Shine Talent Camp 2 is going to be a platform for parents to support, nurture and capture their kids’ talent developing to excellence. Through this, we hope to inspire more parents to discover and develop the talents of their own children,” said Promil Pre-School Senior Product Manager Rhea Villareal.

“Promil Pre-School’s i-Shine Talent Camp 2″ premieres on June 8, right before “Be Careful With My Heart Rewind” on ABS-CBN Channel 2.

Mariah Carey "Beautiful" Music Video Featuring Miguel

Here’s the official video and lyrics for Mariah Carey‘s comeback single “Beautiful” featuring Miguel.

Uh (3X)
You're beautiful
You're beautiful

Hop on the back of my bike
Let the good wind blow through your hair
With an ass like that
And a smile so bright
Oh, you're killing me
You know it ain't fair

Ride on
Through the middle of the night
Let the moonlight kiss your skin
When you dance like that
Your jeans so tight
Oh, you're killing me
Baby, do it again

You're beautiful
And your mind is ****ing beautiful
And I can't pretend that
That doesn't mean a thing to me, to me
You're beautiful
Good lord, you're ****ing beautiful
And I can't pretend that
That doesn't mean a thing to me, to me

I like when you run red lights
Don't stop 'til you thrill me
Oh, how you thrill me
Always in control
How you do it, I don't know
But I don't care
Take me anywhere

'Cause it's beautiful
Ooh, you make me feel undressable
And I can't pretend
That doesn't mean a thing to me, to me
Oh, you're beautiful
And your mind is ****ing beautiful
And I can't pretend that
That doesn't mean a thing to me, to me

Yes, you're beautiful
Good lord, you're ****ing beautiful
And I can't pretend
That doesn't mean a thing to me, to me

Uh (6X)
You're beautiful
You know that you're beautiful
You're beautiful

Ryan Agoncillo Joins Bubble Gang

Tonight (May 10), Eat Bulaga host and celebrity dad Ryan Agoncillo joins the whole cast of Bubble Gang for the first time.

Last April 10, the Kapuso host celebrated his birthday and one of his wishes is to guest in the longest running gag show Bubble Gang. Granting his wish, Ryan will be part of the BG’s hilarious segments together with other special celebrity guests Sef Cadayona, Chariz Solomon, Mikael Daez, and Carla Abellana who will definitely add excitement to the show.

Watch out as Ryan portrays roles in Pamintang Durog, a story about friends who never saw each other for a long time only to find out that one of them is now gay, and in Recorded Away which is about two friends who made a video of their fight.

Kapuso viewers shouldn’t also miss the Exclamation Shortage where Ryan is part of the organization of punctuations and argues with the other cast of BG because of the shortage of exclamation point.

Moreover, the whole gang prepared gags and spoofs about the election season like Bisperas ng Eleksyon and Aling Mary, which is a series of stories about an old maid that portrays perceived common attitudes of government employees.

More laugh and crazy segments await this Friday night in Bubble Gang after Love and Lies in GMA.

Comedian Lost 106 Pounds Through Gastric-sleeve Surgery

I’ve lost a total of 106 pounds. I feel like I’ve reached the weight I’m supposed to be. I’m officially a skinny b*tch!” comedian Lisa Lampanelli said on how she has lost 106 pounds (from the previous 248 pounds) since undergoing gastric-sleeve surgery in April 2012.

The 51-year-old former "Celebrity Apprentice" contestant now eats drastically smaller portions after the gastric-sleeve procedure removed three-quarters of her stomach to create a small sleeve-shaped stomach, about the size of a banana.

The size I am right now is the size I was always meant to be. And one of the best parts of losing weight has been the clothing! I roll up to Macy's and go to the sales rack and see how much I can get for as little amount of money! It’s almost like a game for me!” she said.

Cinema One Offers a Heartwarming Internationally-acclaimed Movie on Mother's Day

Cinema One Offers a Heartwarming Internationally-acclaimed Movie on Mother's Day

Cinema One marks Mother’s Day with Brilliante Mendoza’s award-winning and internationally-acclaimed film, “Foster Child”. The film will premiere on the Blockbuster Sundays movie block of the channel.

Written by Ralston Jover and produced by Robbie Tan’s Seiko Films, it sheds light on the experiences of poor families who are given abandoned babies to look after during the processing of the orphans’ adoptions.

The movie stars Cherry Pie Picache, who took home a well-deserved Best Actress Award for her brilliant performance from the Gawad Urian, the Golden Screen, and the New Delhi International Film Festival. Cherry Pie played the role of Thelma who took care of the orphan John-John as a baby until he turned three years old - the age when the boy was set to be adopted. As Butch Francisco of the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino puts it, “The film belongs to Cherry Pie.” In “Foster Child,” the actress goes beyond herself in successfully depicting a mother’s love for a child that she did not give birth to. The film is a timely offering for Mother’s Day as it underscores the real meaning of being a mom.

Also delivering a spectacular performance, Eugene Domingo takes on the role of Bianca, a social worker tasked to pay regular visits to check on John-John’s progress. The versatile actress was nominated under the Best Supporting Actress Category in the 31st Gawad Urian Awards and won the title in the 6th Gawad Tanglaw Awards.

“Foster Child” premiered at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival Director’s Fortnight where it received a standing ovation. Acclaim was given to the film in over 30 international film festivals in Europe, Asia, the U.S., Canada, and Australia.

Catch “Foster Child” by Brillante Mendoza this Sunday, May 12 at 8:00 p.m., only on the Philippines’ number one cable channel, Cinema One (SkyCable Channel 56). Follow Cinema One channel @cinema_one on Twitter and ‘like’ it on Facebook at www.facebook.com/Cinema1channel.

Philippine Volcanoes' Reveals Secret to a Relaxing Cool Head Despite Cruel Rugby Games

Philippine Volcanoes' Reveals Secret to a Relaxing Cool Head Despite Cruel Rugby Games

Men and sports often go hand in hand. Whether they are passionate fans or athletes themselves, sports are an important part of their lives. They’re willing to do almost anything in support of their team – paint their faces in their team’s colors, camp out to watch a game or even get physical. And to really get their adrenaline pumping, rougher sports are even better – and rugby is one of the roughest sports out there!

To play an aggressively fast-paced contact sport like rugby, a rugby player has to be fit and tough. Playing with little to no padding, he can’t be afraid to get hit, be tackled or face an opponent much stronger than him. But as much as it is a physical game, the mental aspect of the game is just as important. In order to succeed, it isn’t just about a show of strength. He must also maintain his focus despite the rigors of playing. With a dozen bodies tackling and piling up on each other, and the unforgiving sun in this cruel climate, keeping a cool head can be difficult. No one understands this challenge more than the Philippine Volcanoes.

That’s why the Philippine Volcanoes trust only Head & Shoulders (Head & Shoulders), the world’s no. 1 shampoo. Head & Shoulders recently launched a cool men’s line with new Head & Shoulders Men Cool Blast. Aside from removing up to 100% dandruff forever with regular use, it also has menthol to give an instant cooling, refreshing sensation in the shower.

Philippine Volcanoes team captain Michael Letts shares, “Head & Shoulders Men helps us keep a cool head both on and off the field.” His brother and fellow Philippine Volcano Jake Letts adds, “On the field, it’s all about focus during the play. With Head & Shoulders, we not only have a healthy scalp free from distractions like itchiness or irritation. With new Head & Shoulders Men Cool Blast, we also have a literally cool head.”

Philippine Volcano and psychiatrist Michael Duhig advises, “Losing your cool can keep you from performing your best – whether in a rugby game, on a hot date or in an office meeting. Staying calm and cool, even when the heat is on, can mean the difference between getting ahead and losing.”

In fact, keeping a cool head in a high pressure situation has led to Philippine Volcanoes clinching the final ticket to qualify for the 2013 Rugby World Cup Sevens in Moscow. And their cool headedness will continue to serve the team well in their next match versus Hong Kong on May 4 at Rizal Stadium and their other upcoming matches.

To help make this happen, the Philippine Volcanoes trusts only new Head & Shoulders Men Cool Blast to keep a cool head. Like the Philippine Volcanoes, stay cool this hot summer because real men know how to keep a cool head with Head & Shoulders Men.

Head & Shoulders Men Cool Blast for men is available in all leading drugstores and supermarkets nationwide.

78,000 to Live on Mars in 2023

78,000 to Live on Mars in 2023

About 78,000 people decided they do not want to stay on earth any longer so they applied to become a red planet colonists instead.

People from different walks of life all over the world have applied to live on Mars when the nonprofit organization based in The Netherlands called Mars One opened its application process on April 22.

Mars One aims to land four people on the Red Planet in 2023 as the vanguard of a permanent colony, with more astronauts arriving every two years thereafter.

Mars One estimates that landing four settlers on Mars in 2023 will cost them about $6 billion including setting  a global reality-TV event, with cameras documenting all phases of the mission from astronaut selection to the colonists' first years on the Red Planet.

The application process extends until August 31. Anyone at least 18 years of age can apply by submitting to the Mars One website a 1-minute video explaining his or her motivation to become a Red Planet settler.

Mars One charges an application fee, which ranges from $5 to $75 depending on the wealth of the applicant's home country. United States citizens pay $38.

When the application process closes, reviewers will pick 50 to 100 candidates from each of the 300 regions around the world that Mars One has identified. By 2015, this pool will be whittled down to a total of 28 to 40 candidates.

This core group will be split into groups of four, which will train for their one-way Mars mission for about seven years. Finally, an audience vote will pick one of these groups to be humanity's first visitors to the Red Planet.

Mars One, reports said, has received applications from more than 120 countries, officials said. The United States leads the way with 17,324, followed by China (10,241) and the United Kingdom (3,581). Russia, Mexico, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Argentina and India round out the top 10. - MSN

Anne Curtis Spoofs Nancy Binay (Video)

Anne Curtis, on Thursday edition of It's Showtime's  impromptu acting segment "Sine Mo 'To," portrayed the role of a "debate-proof" aspiring politician who chose not to take part in public forums.

To poked fun at election candidates, Anne, along with co-hosts Vice Ganda and Teddy Corpuz, played competing candidates on an election-related theme for the week titled "Beh Boto Nga" in time for the May 13 election.

During the show, Anne as her character, explained that she had filed a temporary restraining order against participating in any debates to free herself from jeopardizing her reputation. Wendy Valdez and Krista Miller in Violent Fight During Boracay Bodies Shoot, Are You Team Wendy or Team Krista?

Is it true that Wendy Valdez and Krista Miller were caught involved in a serious and violent fight during the shoot of TV5's weekly reality show "Boracay Bodies"?

Are you Team Krista o Team Wendy?

Here is the official music video for Selena Gomez' latest song “Come & Get It” the lead single from her upcoming 4th solo album under Hollywood Records.

Very hot and addictive. "Na, na , na na! Na, na , na na!"

When you're ready come and get it (x2)
Na na na (x3)

When you're re-e-a-dy (x2)

When you're ready come and get it
Na na na (x3)

You ain’t gotta worry it’s an open invitation
I’ll be sittin’ right here real patient
All day all night I’ll be waitin’ standby
Can’t stop because I love it, hate the way I love you
All day all night maybe I’m addicted for life, no lie.
I’m not too shy to show I love you, I got no regrets.
I love you much to, much to hide you, this love ain’t finished yet. This love ain’t finished yet…
So baby whenever you’re ready…

When you're ready come and get it (x2)
Na na na (x3)

When you're re-e-a-dy (x2)

When you're ready come and get it
Na na na (x3)

You got the kind of love that I want, let me get that.
And baby once I get it I’m yours no take backs.
I’m gon’ love you for life I ain’t leaving your side
Even if you knock it ain’t no way to stop it
Forever you’re mine baby I’m addicted no lie, no lie
I’m not too shy to show I love you, I got no regrets.
So baby whenever you’re ready…..

When you're ready come and get it (x2)
Na na na (x3)

When you're re-e-a-dy (x2)

When you're ready come and get it
Na na na (x3)

This love will be the death of me, but I know I’ll die happily
I’ll know I’ll know I’ll know
Because you love me so…Yeah!

When you ready come and get it
Na na na (x3)

When you're re-e-a-dy (x2)

When you're ready come and get it
Na na na (x3)
