Kristine Hermosa is back.

After giving birth to her first child with husband Oyo Boy Sotto, Kristine is now ready for her big teleserye comeback. Sad to say, it will not be with the network which mold her as a star.

Reports have it that Tintin will soon star in a Kapuso teleserye opposite Dingdong Dantes.

How true that Angel Locsin's next primetime series will pair her with Paulo Avelino? According to source, Angel and Paulo, both former Kapuso stars, will soon shoot a teleserye tentatively titled "Ang Huling Sayaw".

***

Kris Aquino, contrary to rumors, will not run for Vice Presidential seat in 2016 election but for a local post in what she called "big city" (Tarlac, maybe?)

Nora Aunor, Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Eula Valdez and Coco Martin Headline the 1st CineFilipino FimFest

CineFilipino may only be on its first year, but the new film festival has already attracted many of the country’s most acclaimed talents. Leading the star-studded line-up of this year’s festival is the Superstar herself, Ms. Nora Aunor.

The Best Actress winner of the recently concluded Asian Film Awards is playing the titular role in Mes de Guzman’s much talked-about movie “Ang Kwento Ni Mabuti.” The emotional family drama shot in the scenic Nueva Vizcaya, tells the story of a healer named Mabuti (Aunor), who still looks at life positively despite trying times.

This year’s festival will also see Primetime Princess Jasmine Curtis-Smith making her film debut in the suspense thriller “Puti.” Helmed by Mike Alcazaren, Puti is a gripping tale of a counterfeit painter who starts seeing strange images after a freak car accident. The movie also stars Ian Veneracion, Lauren Young, and Bryan Pagala.

Like Jasmine, Artista Academy alumnus Akihiro Blanco gets his first film acting gig in Ato Bautista’s coming-of-age love story “Mga Alaala ng Tag-Ulan.” The teen actor, whose raw acting chops have often been compared to that of a young Robin Padilla, will share the screen with the sexy performer Mocha Uson as the object of his affection. Rounding up the cast are Mon Confiado, Issa Litton, Lance Raymundo, and Pio Balbuena.

On the other hand, comedienne Tuesday Vargas nabbed the lead role in the romantic comedy “Ang Turkey Man Ay Pabo Rin.” The Talentadong Pinoy and Loko Moko U regular will play half of the wacky Filipino-American couple in newbie filmmaker Randolph Longjas’ cross-cultural comedy. Travis Kraft will play Tuesday’s American husband.

Another laugh fest to watch out for is Ron Bryant’s entry “Bingoleras.” The comedy of errors based on the intersecting lives of six women playing bingo, boasts of an impressive cast led by Eula Valdez, Max Eigenmann, Charee Pineda, Mercedes Cabral, Hazel Orencio, and Lisa Dino. Other notable cast members include Lou Veloso, Junjun Quintania, Art Acuña, Cita Astals, Amay Bisaya, and Coco Martin in a special role.

Kitchie Nadal transitions from rock phenom to movie star in the music-filled youth drama “The Muses” by Cebuana filmmaker Janice Perez. The Muses is story of sibling rivalry in the music business where two sisters find the hidden truths about fame, family and their own selves. The film also enlisted performer Janelle Jamer as Kitchie’s sister.

Sigrid Bernardo’s poignant film “Ang Huling Cha-Cha Ni Anita” tells the story of Anita who falls in love with the new woman in town. Playing Anita is Jay Bordon, while seasoned character actress Angel Aquino takes the role of Pilar, the woman Anita pines for.

Siblings Sari and Kiri Dalena of the controversial entry “Guerilla Is A Poet” are keeping mum about the particulars of their film’s casting. However, aside from the film’s cast audiences should expect more revelations in this daring docu-drama based on the life of Martial Law activist Joma Sison.

CineFilipino Film Festival will run from June 26 to July 2, 2013.

Landas, A New Milestone in News Documentary Airs on GMA-7 this Sunday

Landas, A New Milestone in News Documentary Airs on GMA-7 this Sunday

GMA News and Public Affairs, the country’s leading broadcast news organization, is proud to present “Landas,” an election special that tackles three of the most pressing issues relevant today as the country gears up for the upcoming elections: hunger, health, and education. This program aims to guide voters in order to be discerning of the people they will vote into office come May 13.

Hosted by multi-awarded broadcast journalist Vicky Morales, Landas is a landmark production for GMA combining the documentary and narrative fiction genres. While the documentary portion delivers insightful and eye-opening features the network is recognized for, the fictional film will be reflective and complementary to the issues discussed in the documentary and will star Mike Tan, Joyce Ching, Neil Ryan Sese, Nanding Josef, and Chynna Ortaleza, among other notable actors.

The documentary component of Landas takes viewers to some of the remotest towns in the country where poverty is an everyday reality.

Armed with dried leaves and potions, a 103-year-old medicine man softly chants his prayers to restore the health of folks who can only repay his kindness with cassavas and bananas. This is a reality for several barangays in the South, where many residents turn to local medicine men to cure them of their illnesses — from simple skin sores to swelling bellies. The nearest hospital is more than an hour’s walk, and most residents are penniless.

A baby in another town is given coffee made from burnt rice leftovers to relieve a hungry stomach. An indigenous group relies on volunteers who teach them how to read and write. The country’s economy is said to be growing but it is yet to be felt by the poor majority.

The fiction component of Landas tells the story of “Jay”, played by Mike Tan, who finds himself at a crossroads. Tasked to silence a Commission on Audit officer (played by China Ortaleza) who threatens to expose corruption involving the Mayor (played by Nanding Josef), it’s up to “Jay” to decide the fate of his town, and in turn, his own future.

In pursuit of cinematographic excellence, Landas narrative fiction used high definition Canon EOS C300 Cinema cameras and lenses.

Mommy Inday Barretto Slams Lily Monteverde, Robbie Tan and Tanya Montenegro for Defending Gretchen Barretto

Mommy Inday Barretto Slams Lily Monteverde, Robbie Tan and Tanya Montenegro for Defending Gretchen Barretto

And the warring Barretto clan never stops....not in the near future, I believe.

Though Mrs. Inday Barretto already said her final piece (at least according to her latest statement) on the issue involving her daughters Gretchen vs. Claudine and Gia and his son Joaquin who took the side of Gretchen, the Barretto matriarch now put a fire on other personalities who released a pro-Gretchen statements.

In a statement sent to Philippine Star columnist Ricky Lo, Mrs. Barretto answers each and every statements made by Tanya Garcia,  Lily Monteverde of Regal Films and Seiko's Robbie Tan depending Gretchen.

To Tanya, you say you respect me. Please don’t — keep it— you need that for yourself. I don’t need respect from someone like you. I have plenty of it from where I come from.

"I know who you are, what you are, but you shocked the world at how you could face the camera so professionally comfortable in lying to tell a story of more than 30 years ago as if you were there when it happened, as if you were part and parcel of our household when not even our cats and dogs know you — tsk, tsk, tsk! — lying to the hilt without batting an eyelash. Unless you were coached to read a prepared story.

"No. 1: No, Tanya, it is never true that Gretchen’s tuition was not paid. School is top priority of our payables.

"No. 2: No money for recess and lunch? I don’t even want to dignify you on that since you are not a dignified one.

"No. 3: So you saw Gretchen with a bruise of black and blue? Do you want to insinuate that we did that to her? We have no history of violence. Don’t be dramatic. People might ask you to convince them some more and all these events of 30 years ago, huh?"

To Mother Lily: Yes, Mother Dearest, it is true that I was the one who used to pick up Gretchen’s checks because she was a minor, remember? But it is not true what you said that you know that not a cent went to her.

"The cents went to pay for, 1) car, 2) driver, 3) yaya, 4) gasoline, 5) food, 6) clothes, 7) and others (kulang pa).

"I hope you understand being a mother, too. And by the way, we still have the contract we signed with you."

To Robbie Tan: Thank you, Robbie, for having given Gretchen more work because you thought she needed money for the family. But for your information and correction, at age 18 she was no longer with us because she was already living-in with Joey Loyzaga and our family was already in Iloilo. We did not use her money, period, same way you made good business from the projects you made for her. More power to you."
