One Direction This is Us - Movie Poster

A mosaic of thousands of original photos gives once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for fans to come together to “create” movie memorabilia.

In what has become a frenzied digital search by 1D fans, One Direction and Sony Pictures unveiled the official movie poster April 18 for their upcoming 3D film, One Direction: This is Us. The poster includes an amazing array of fan-submitted photos from around the world.

Paying tribute to those that helped catapult the band to success, the poster’s backdrop is a mosaic made up of thousands of little things – the fans themselves. Hundreds of thousands of people have flooded the official site and submitted photos since February in the hopes that their snapshot will be featured in the movie poster.

The tribute poster also “comes to life” when fans use their smart phones to scan the Zapcode on the poster unlocking an augmented reality experience and exclusive video content of the band. The Zappar app is free and available for download in the App Store or Google Play.

A digital version of the poster, which will include even more fan photos within the mosaic, will launch online in early May at http://www.1dthisisus-movie.com/. Participants will be able to locate and share their photo across multiple social networks.

The movie is directed by acclaimed documentary filmmaker Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me), and will hit theaters in the U.S. and the Philippines on Friday, August 30th.

One Direction – Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson – were discovered by Simon Cowell on the U.K.’s “The X Factor” in 2010. The band quickly gained a following to become one of the competition’s all-time most popular acts, finishing in the final three and garnering a gigantic and loyal fanbase along the way. In March 2012, One Direction’s debut album, “Up All Night,” made U.S. history, as it was the first time a U.K. group’s debut album entered the U.S. Billboard 200 chart at No. 1. The band has sold over 29 million records worldwide. In November 2012, One Direction released their sophomore album, “Take Me Home,” which includes the No. 1 single, “Live While We’re Young,” and are currently on a sold-out world tour.

Simon Cowell, Adam Milano, Morgan Spurlock, and Ben Winston are producing the film. Executive Producers are Richard Griffiths, Harry Magee, Will Bloomfield, Doug Merrifield, Jeremy Chilnick, and Matthew Galkin.

Follow @1DThisIsUs on Twitter for exclusive updates about the movie. The official movie account on Twitter will announce news using the hashtag #1DThisIsUs.

‘Camera Juan: Pelikulang Binuo ng Mamamayan’ Airs Sunday on GMA-7

‘Camera Juan: Pelikulang Binuo ng Mamamayan’ Airs Sunday on GMA-7

This Sunday, April 21, GMA News and Public Affairs presents another groundbreaking election project that, unlike most television programs and specials, paints a picture of the Philippines not from the media’s point of view but from that of the ordinary Filipinos’ themselves. Titled Camera Juan, it is an ambitious undertaking that hopes to demonstrate the power of the watchful citizenry.

A collective film woven from various video contributions from ordinary Filipinos, Camera Juan depicts scenes of wrongdoing, social struggles, and even acts of modern-day heroism as witnessed by the citizens in their day-to-day living.

When we started the project, we were apprehensive that we may not receive enough contributions to produce a full-length special,” shares Assistant Vice-President of Public Affairs Clyde Mercado. “We are pleased to share, however, that since our initial call-out, we already received hundreds of video contributions from all over the Philippines and even from our countrymen overseas.”

Compiling these video contributions and providing visual direction for Camera Juan is no less than Filipino filmmaker and Cannes Award-winning Director Brillante Mendoza.

It’s my first time to direct a project like this. What I like about it is the approach, the involvement of ordinary people. That’s what you’ll see in this film – ordinary Filipinos telling their stories. The objective from the beginning was to empower them. What we did was to supplement visuals to the stories they sent and then weave these stories into one collective film,” explains Mendoza.

The film tackles some of the country’s most pressing issues like child labor as represented by child laborers in a koprahan in Samar, education as told by the story of students in Zamboanga who had to row boats in order to get to school, and health via a documentation of public hospitals in Masbate that lack manpower and medical facilities, among others.

As filmmakers, we need to immerse in the issues to fully understand them. Sa Camera Juan we went to far-flung towns to dig deeper into these issues (presented by video contributors). Sana ang maliit at simple naming paraan sa paglalahad ng mga bagay na ito ay mabigyan din ng pansin ng mga susunod na mamumuno,” adds Brillante.

From the same team that brought to life landmark specials such as Oras Na and Planet Philippines, Camera Juan will be another first on Philippine television. And it is through this project that the Network hopes to encourage every Filipino to be vigilant and to choose to do what is right with the fast-approaching mid-term elections.

This is what Camera Juan is all about - showing Filipinos that we all can take an active role in building the nation, especially since the elections are just around the corner,” says program manager Angeli Atienza.

Presented by multi-awarded broadcast journalist Jessica Soho, “Camera Juan: Pelikulang Binuo ng Mamamayan” airs this Sunday, April 21, 10pm on GMA-7’s Sunday Night Box Office.

‘Missing You’ Premieres Monday on ABS-CBN Primetime Bida

Asia’s most popular artists Park Yoo-Chun and Yoon Eun-Hye team up for the very first time for as they play long lost sweethearts in the Filipino-dubbed version of the hit Korean drama of 2012, “Missing You,” premiering this Monday (Apr 22) on ABS-CBN.

Yoo-Chun, who captivated the hearts of Filipinos as Lee Sun-Joon in “Secret Love: Sungkyunkwan Scandal” and as Prince Lee Gak in the recently concluded “Rooftop Prince,” takes on his most dramatic role to date as Detective Julius Han in this top-caliber melodrama that earned him the Excellent Actor in a Mini-Series recognition during the 2012 MBC Drama Awards. He is among the few Korean actors who did back-to-back series in a year and was able to do television projects in three different Korean TV networks namely KBS, SBS, and MBC.

Eun-Hye, on the other, finally returns on Philippine television since she last appeared “Princess Hours” as Janelle and “My Fair Lady” as Hannah. A premier young actress and fashion icon in Korea, Eun-Hye recently won the Hallyu Star of the Year award from the 2012 MBC Drama Awards for her portrayal as Joy Lee in “Missing You.” She was also voted as one of the most bankable and A-lister stars in Korea and also one of the highest paid Korean actress, which is quite an achievement for Eun-Hye considering she is only below 30 years old.

The much-awaited airing of “Missing You,” starring these two Korean superstars, is definitely a summer treat to Koreanovela fans. It tells the compelling story about a man longing to be reunited with his one true love and his undying faith that one day, she will return to him.

It started way back when they were still young and experiencing love for the first time. Julius and Joy are both happy in each other’s arms until one day, Julius is abducted by armed men. Joy, who witnesses the kidnapping, attempts to help Julius and ends up getting abducted as well.

Julius manages to escape and runs away to call for help. But Joy, upon seeing him leave, thinks he has chosen to save his own life and abandoned her.

When Julius returns for her, Joy is nowhere to be found and authorities said she is already dead. Little does Julius know that someone helped Joy escape the kidnappers.

Fourteen years later, Julius would be a homicide detective and still hasn’t given up on finding Joy, hoping that she is still alive. Joy, on the other hand, returns to Korea as Zoe, an accomplished fashion designer with Harry (Yoo Seung-Ho), the young man who saved her life.

As the two cross paths once more, feelings in the past will be awakened. Julius can feel it in his heart that Zoe is the woman he loved way back, but Joy intentionally keeps the truth from her first love to seek revenge for abandoning her during that tragic moment.

How fan can Julius go just to prove that Zoe and Joy are the same person? What will happen when Joy finds out the truth on why Julius ran away when they were kidnapped? Will they give their love a second chance?

“Missing You” marks the return of a Asianovela on ABS-CBN’s primetime line-up since the idol drama “Dream High” aired April last year.

Don’t miss the premiere of “Missing You” this Monday (Apr 22) after “Apoy Sa Dagat” on ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida. For more updates like https://www.facebook.com/abscbnkapamilyanovelas on Facebook and follow @KapamilyaNovela on Twitter.

Akihiro Blanco and Chanel Morales Bring Viewers to a Wonderific Sunday via TV5's "Istorifik: Pidol’s Kuwentong Fanstatik"

Robin Dude is out to save the day as his adventures continue every Sunday on Istorifik: Pidol’s Kuwentong Fanstatik. Artista Academy alumni Akihiro Blanco and Chanel Morales are showcased in their first major show after the artista reality search.

Akihiro plays Hiro, a young man who grew up in the slums. Whenever danger beckons, he wields a magic bow and arrow that turn him to the masked hero, Robin Dude. Hiro’s alter ego battles the evil forces led by the witch Mortianna (played by Bing Loyzaga). She wants to get a hold of Robin Dude’s weapons to help her attain everlasting youth and beauty.

Playing the apple of Hiro’s eye is Chanel in the role of Marian, a young student who is part of an immersion group in Hiro’s community. Despite Hiro’s proclamations of affection, Marian ironically only has eyes for his alter ego, Robin Dude.

Mortianna’s patience is wearing thin with the hooded hero, especially since she is up against the clock in her mission. Robin Dude has already vanquished two of her evil minions – a werewolf and a vampire in the past two episodes of Istorifik. More evildoers are waiting to be unleashed, as Robin will try to escape the charms of a snake lady and ultimately battle Mortianna herself.

Find out in the next two Sundays if good triumphs over evil. Istorifik: Pidol’s Kuwentong Fanstatik airs at 6:30pm on TV5.

'Iron Man 3' Spoiler According to Robert Downey Jr.

'Iron Man 3' Spoiler According to Robert Downey Jr.

Two-time Academy Award-nominee Robert Downey Jr. returns as eccentric genius, billionaire, philanthropist Tony Stark aka the armored super hero known as Iron Man, in Marvel’s new action adventure “Iron Man 3.”

Decompressing from his heroic, near-self-sacrificial action saved New York City from annihilation (in “Marvel’s The Avengers”), Tony now finds himself unable to sleep and plagued by worry and trepidation. When his world is destroyed and those closest to him threatened, Tony must find a way to save them - and in the process find himself again.

Even though the world knows and loves Tony Stark, he is still learning and struggling to define where Iron Man ends and his own life begins, which has made him increasingly dependent on his Iron Man armors,” explains executive producer Steven Broussard. “They have become such a big part of him that they’re affecting every aspect of his life, including those closest to him.”

How do you take a billionaire, industrialist playboy and make him relatable and somebody that you can root for?” questions producer Kevin Feige. “One way is to have Robert Downey Jr., who just makes Tony Stark so likable and a great hero. The other way is to take everything away from the character, which then makes you root for the guy.

From the beginning, there was this sense of including the point of view of the fans as well as the audience coming in off the street who knew nothing about the character,” says Downey Jr. “We would ask ourselves, ‘What do they expect?’ ‘What do they not expect?’ and ‘How do we meet both of those requirements?’

Growing up as an actor and being in the public eye, there is this incredible hubris and ego that occurs and then for any and all of us there is always an activating event in our lives that cuts us down to size,” continues Downey Jr. “The nice thing about Tony Stark is that he doesn’t even take his own arc that seriously because he falls so far from where he was. He really needed to, and I think people have always related to that life-lesson part of the character.

Further explaining Tony Stark/Iron Man, the actor delineates the character’s evolution over the course of the previous films. “Tony has been through a real emotional journey leading up to this film,” says Downey Jr. “We first met Tony in ‘Iron Man’ and he had shrapnel in his heart. Yinsen helps him build an RT to keep it from puncturing his heart. So then he built and put in his own RT. And what has that done? That’s powered everything, but it started poisoning him in ‘Iron Man 2.’ So then what happened? His father posthumously led him through a mysterious initiation into how to perfect his own heart.

He continues, “But in ‘Iron Man 3,’ although Tony has now fixed his heart problem, he has not actually dealt with the wound. So once you have all those things in play you go, ‘Okay, with all of those plates spinning at the same time, what is he supposed to do?’ That’s the direction we’ve chosen for the character and it is absolutely delightful.

The reason we cast Robert Downey Jr. in ‘Iron Man’ was because he’s a spectacular actor and, since then, he’s obviously become the biggest movie star in the world and he has shown us in each ‘Iron Man’ film and ‘Marvel’s The Avengers’ why that is,” says Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. “He doesn’t rest on his laurels. He doesn’t come in and say, ‘I’m the biggest star in the world.’ He comes in and shows you why he’s the biggest star in the world. So when we began the initial talks about where we wanted to take Tony Stark in ‘Iron Man 3,’ Robert, as always, had a very definitive passion and drive to put in the time and effort to up the stakes and make this film the best of the franchise.

Opening across the Philippines on April 24 in IMAX 3D, Digital 3D and regular theatres, “Iron Man 3” is presented by Marvel Studios in association with Paramount Pictures and DMG Entertainment. The film is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo Tandem Dominate Philippine Cinema Record

After earning P345 million in less than three weeks in cinemas nationwide, the Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz-starrer “It Takes a Man and a Woman” is now officially the second highest-grossing Filipino film of all time and the biggest earning non-Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) local movie.

The third installment of the hit romantic-comedy film series directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina broke the record of the comedy flick “The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin” starring Vice Ganda, which earned P331 million during its theatrical run in 2011. “It Takes a Man and a Woman” is now second in terms of total box-office earnings after the 2012 MMFF entry “Sisterakas” starring the comedy trio of Vice Ganda, Kris Aquino and AiAi delas Alas, which raked P391 million during its run in cinemas nationwide. All three top-grossers– “Sisterakas,” “The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin,” and “It Takes a Man and a Woman”–are co-productions of Star Cinema and Viva Films.

Meanwhile, “It Takes a Man and a Woman” screenwriter Carmi Raymundo recently revealed that the much talked about wedding vows of Laida and Miggy that made everyone in cinemas cry were written by Sarah and John Lloyd themselves.

Direk Cathy and I told Sarah and Lloydie that we want them to write Miggy and Laida’s wedding vows. Gusto ko din kasi marinig from them kung ano sa tingin nila yung learnings ng characters nila,” explained Carmi, who was also the headwriter of the first two installments of the series namely “A Very Special Love” and “You Changed My Life.” “Both were nervous kung kaya ba nila magsulat but they were very excited. When they showed me what they wrote, I knew right away that they wrote from the hearts of their characters. They were so sincere, ang ganda!

Carmi further shared that Sarah and John Lloyd’s self-made vows were so beautifully written that she almost did not edit it. “Konti na lang ang inayos ko. Their vows made the ending of Laida and Miggy’s love story a thousand times more special because they spoke their own words. As a writer, yun na ang gift ko sa kanila: to let them speak their own words. In the end, parang naging buhay na talaga sila Miggy at Laida,” Carmi related.

Continue to fall in love with Laida and Miggy’s love story in “It Takes A Man And A Woman” still showing on theaters nationwide.

GMA International Nominated in NAMIC Vision Awards

GMA International – the business unit that manages the operations and distribution of GMA Network’s international channels GMA Pinoy TV, GMA Life TV and GMA News TV International – bagged two nominations in the 2013 NAMIC Vision Awards alongside some of the biggest names in the US television industry.

GMA Pinoy TV’s long-running immigration program Pusong Pinoy Sa Amerika (Into the Hearts of Filipinos in America) was nominated in the Foreign Language category while the 30-minute cooking show Kusina Master, which is seen worldwide via GMA Life TV, earned a nomination in the Lifestyle category.

Hosted by immigration lawyer Atty. Lou Tancinco, Pusong Pinoy Sa Amerika is now on its 8th season of informing the Filipino-American community on immigration law. This time around, the show tackles immigrant issues and stories that are affected by new immigration policies. To unravel the complexities of the immigration system, the show is bringing its audience back to the basics with its episodes exclusively focused on the most common questions and challenges that people face in the immigration system.

Meanwhile, Chef Boy Logro’s Kusina Master has become a popular source of entertainment and recipes among Filipinos abroad ever since it started airing on GMA Life TV, the first and only Filipino lifestyle channel abroad, in March 2012. With each episode, Filipino Americans are introduced to new and exciting dishes that remind them of the exceptional flavor and qualities of Pinoy cooking.

We welcome these nominations from NAMIC and are grateful for their continuous appreciation for our programs,” said GMA Vice President and Head of International Operations Joseph T. Francia.

This is the second time that GMA International was nominated in the NAMIC Vision Awards. The first time was for multi-awarded broadcaster Mike Enriquez’s Review Philippines, which aired on GMA Pinoy TV in 2007.

The NAMIC Vision Awards is described in the NAMIC website as “one of the few national competitions that salutes original television or digital content that reflects the depth and breadth of experience, and contributions of people of color.” It is founded in 1994 by NAMIC Southern California and is presented this year by the NAMIC National office in partnership with NAMIC-Southern California.

The announcement of the NAMIC Vision Awards nominees was held during New Bay Media’s Multiethnic TV Summit and Leadership Awards on April 17, 2013 at the Hilton New York, while the winners will be awarded in Los Angeles, California in May.

TIME 100 Most Influential People 2013: Noynoy Aquino, Barack Obama

TIME 100 Most Influential People 2013: Noynoy Aquino, Barack Obama

Philippine President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III and US President Barack Obama are just two of the  world’s 100 “most influential people” in the annual TIME 100 list.

Here's how TIME News Director Chua-Eoan described PNoy:

His father was the Philippines’ most famous political martyr, his mother its most beloved President. Benigno (“Noynoy”) Aquino III inherited that legacy and, boosted by national mourning at the death of Corazon Aquino in August 2009, won the presidency in 2010. President Aquino quickly began making his own name. The sputtering economy stabilized and became hot. Aquino pushed through a reproductive-rights law that many said was impossible in the fervently Catholic nation. Most important, he became the face of the regional confrontation with Beijing over its claim to virtually all of the South China Sea. It is a brave stance, the long-term consequences still unknown.

In a country of nicknames, Filipinos proudly call their President PNoy - a pun on the word they use for themselves: Pinoy. For his courage, however, he really should have the pet name the family gave his eldest sister Maria Elena: Ballsy.

The TIME 100 Most Influential People list is made up prominent individuals, ranging from artists and leaders to pioneers, titans and icons.

Angeline Quinto to Undergo Belo Cosmetic Surgeries on Her Nose, Eyes, Cheeks, Armpits, Back, Everywhere

Angeline Quinto to Undergo Belo Cosmetic Surgeries on Her Nose, Eyes, Cheeks, Armpits, Back, Everywhere

As confirmed by world-renowned celebrity dermatologist Dra. Vicki Belo, Kapamilya award-winning singer Angeline Quinto is set to undergo several cosmetic procedures on her face and parts of her upper body starting Saturday, April 20.

Quinto, who rose to fame after winning the talent search "Star Power" in 2011, said she plans to undergo procedures on her nose, eyes, cheeks, armpits and back.

Quinto, who previously admitted to having regular glutathione treatments, will undergo procedures on her eyes, cheeks, armpits, back and nose which she said she has to "fixed" after getting comments on its supposed "disproportionate" size in comparison to her face.

"Matagal ko nang sinasabi na sana kung may chance mapagawa ko 'yung ilong ko. Kasi dati pa naman marami nang nagsasabi sa akin na parang hindi raw proportion 'yung ilong ko sa mukha, kasi medyo malaki. So ngayong mas pumayat ako, mas lalong napansin ng mga tao na malaki pala 'yung ilong ko talaga," the 23-year-old singer said during her pictorial as an endorser of Belo's chain of beauty clinics.

According to Dra. Belo, the singer's nose will be "enhanced" to address its "Pinocchio tip."

"Most Pinoys nagpapagawa dahil kulang 'yung bridge. Pero 'yung kay Angeline, mataas 'yung bridga niya. Ang problema natin 'yung tip, masyado mahaba, parang kaunting Pinocchio type," she said.

Dra. Belo said she will also do a procedure on Quinto's eyes, so they will look less "sad."

"The other thing naman, 'yung mata mukhang sad. Ang tawag diyan ay ptosis. 'Yung lid medyo mababa... it's also hard for her to put makeup and sometimes mukhang heavy 'yung lid.

"So ang gagawin, 'yung magmukha siyang bright-eyed at para may kaunting fold siya, so pag naglalagay siya ng makeup, hindi siya mahihirapan," the celebrity doctor said.

Another procedure on Quinto's face will be done on her cheeks, according to Dra. Belo. "Kaunting filler lang, kasi may pagka-flat lang siya sa left cheek, para magkaroon ng mas malaman. Kasi maganda na 'yung cheekbone pero hindi pantay 'yung right and left niya," she said.

Aside from the planned "enhancements" on her face, Quinto said she had approached Belo to perform liposuction on her back.

"Lumapit sana ako kay Mommy Vicki para sana sa lipo sa likod, kasi madalas akong nagsusuot ng gown na fitted, kaso meron paring baby fats. So nahihiya ako, so kailangan ko ipatanggal talaga," she said.

She also openly shared that she has been getting botox treatments for her armpits to address excessive perspiration. "Madalas talaga ako nagpapagawa ng botox sa kilikili kasi nga medyo pawisin 'yung kilikili ko talaga, so 'yun 'yung madalas na pinapagawa at cleaning," she said.

Asked why she is open about her planned cosmetic surgeries, unlike other celebrities who undergo the same, Quinto said she sees the move as helpful to her career.

"Matagal ko naring sinasabi sa iba, kumbaga sabi ko nga hindi naman ako mahihiya sa mga tao kung ano talaga 'yung totoo.. nakita niyo naman 'yung itsura ko noon," she said, laughing.

She added: "Ito naman, alam ko naman kasi na makakatulong sa 'kin lalo sa trabaho ko."
