Confirmed: Kris Aquino and JV Ejercito Dating

Senatorial candidate Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito admitted on Friday, February 15, that he used to go out with TV host and presidential sister Kris Aquino.

Speaking to ANC, Ejercito admitted that he and Aquino were very good friends. He described Aquino as “a different character.

We dated but we were very good friends…We went out a couple of times but I think she’s kinda very strong and she’s really a different character. Probably that’s why people love her, her being candid and very honest,” he said.

Fearless Women Bea Alonzo, Denise Laurel, Mons Romulo, Crickette Tantoco and Priscilla Meirelles Grace the Launch Premiere of 'Olay Conversations with Boy Abunda'

Fearless Women Bea Alonzo, Denise Laurel, Mons Romulo, Crickette Tantoco and Priscilla Meirelles Grace the Launch Premiere of 'Olay Conversations with Boy Abunda'

The world’s number one facial care brand, Olay, launched its latest tribute to women with the exclusive premiere of “Olay Conversations” hosted by the country’s top talk show host Boy Abunda.

Olay Conversations is a series of web episodes (a.k.a. webisodes) with Abunda hosting intimate, no-holds-barred conversations and interviews with some of the country’s most beautiful women. The two premiered episodes feature Mons Romulo and Denise Laurel, and women can catch these on www.youtube.com/OlayPH beginning February 17, 2013.

Cognizant of the ever-changing and stressful times which cause women’s skin to age faster than before, Olay recently launched several new and improved anti-ageing products under its Total Effects and Regenerist range.  Changes in lifestyle and societal trends, globalization, financial pressures, relationship and career stress have resulted in an upsurge in stress levels with a significant impact to skin ageing.

Interestingly, many women assume their skincare products are not working because they are not seeing results fast enough, but the research shows that their products may not be completely to blame. As skin ages and its cellular energy decreases it also diminishes its stress-response ability, its metabolism, and women see a slowed response to anti-ageing treatments.

Justin Lladoc, Olay Brand Manager, explains, “This is why we have launched the upgraded Olay ranges which have Olay’s highest-ever level of anti-ageing ingredients, delivers accelerated anti-ageing results and some products have dual fairness and anti-ageing benefits. We want to help women challenge what’s possible in anti-ageing and be their ally in fearlessly facing all the stress and challenges that come their way.”

Olay Conversations features remarkable, fearless women who have gone through exceptional experiences which many other women can relate to, and shows how these women faced them with extraordinary courage, strength and beauty.  Guests at the premiere witnessed candid, raw accounts by Denise Laurel and Mons Romulo about their experience which the brand believes will inspire other women to discover their own physical and inner beauty in their personal experiences.

For several decades, Olay has been the ally of women no matter what age. Olay recognises that every woman faces dauntless challenges, adversities and ever-changing needs in every life stage,” says Lladoc. “We want to help them meet these needs and lessen their fears and worries because they can count on the best products innovations with accelerated and long-lasting results.  We hope we can help women face anything life has to offer and inspire them with the stories on Olay Conversations” Llladoc explains.

Actress Denise Laurel is Abunda’s first guest, who spoke about an unplanned pregnancy that threatened her acting career just when she was at her peak.  “I knew getting pregnant was teaching me something.  It was teaching me to be an adult,” Laurel tearfully but braveley told Abunda in the webisode.  She shared the difficult decisions she had to make at the time, and the trust and support she received from the family who expected her to always “be the best.”  Laurel now lives with simple gratefulness, to which she credits her constant glow.  “It’s because I’m complete.  I am so thankful for what I have and treasure that even more now.  Everyone accepted me and I accept myself,” she smiled.

In the second webisode, Mons Romulo bares the pain she went through at the end of a 21-year marriage.  “I thought I was the ugliest person in the world.  My self-esteem was so low,” she recounts to Abunda.  The webisode is riveting; Romulo’s narrative takes the viewer through difficult emotions even while she shared them with grace and composure.  She claimed her strength at the end of her ordeal, “I knew myself already.  I knew I could take anything the world throws at me.  I have no more fears.”  When complimented by Abunda on her beauty, she replies, “I am beautiful because of the pain I went through.  I am taking care of myself better now because I’m much happier today than I ever was before.”

Bea Alonzo, Crickette Tantoco and Priscilla Meirelles were also present at the premiere, inviting guests to view their upcoming Olay Conversations webisodes which will follow in March 2013.

Viewers can watch Olay Conversations trailers and full episodes on www.youtube.com/OlayPH, starting with Mons Romulo’s episode on February 17.  New episodes will be shown bi-weekly.

Episodes can also be viewed on olay.com.ph, which features the brand’s new e-commerce capability so women can now conveniently purchase products online and find out more about the different Olay products available for every skin type.

Olay Regenerist and Olay Total Effects products are available at olay.com.ph or at leading department stores and supermarkets nationwide.

Rhian Ramos Reveals Valentine Gift for Boyfriend KC Montero

Rhian Ramos Reveals Valentine Gift for Boyfriend KC Montero

It’s no secret that Rhian Ramos and KC Montero are in a relationship and in fact, Rhian says they are still very much in love with each other.

After both of them broke free from their past controversial relationships, KC and Rhian are happy to be celebrating their first Valentine’s Day together as a couple this year.

Asked whether Rhian already has a gift in mind for her boyfriend, she teased that she is planning to give him “something he would love to wear.”

Pinagiisipan ko pa but I think I am going to give him a clothing item.  I’m not sure yet kasi hindi naman ako magaling na stylist for men (laughs).  Pero from what I know kasi what men value is yung mga ties and cufflinks, belts and watches and stuff like that so I am thinking of something na masusuot niya,” said Rhian in an interview on the set of “Indio.”

Even when she was single, Rhian had always made Valentine’s Day special and she even had a different name for it.

Hindi naman every Valentine’s ay may ka-Valentine’s ako.  Usually kasi I have this group of friends na may panahon when the three of us were all single.  Ginawa ko silang ka-Valentine’s ko and then we called the day ‘Rhian’s Friendship Day’.  And then hanggang sa ‘yung isa nagka-girlfriend na, yung girl naman nagka-boyfriend niya, so may kanya-kanya na kaming Valentine’s Day,” she said.

Single or not naging part talaga ng year ko ang Valentine’s Day.  I always make an event of it.  Sometimes, nung wala akong ka-Valentine’s, ginawa kong ibang event.  If for the whole year nahiya ka to show how you really feel, it’s the one day na puwede kang magpaka-totoo and you can do something nice for people,” she continued.

In an interview with Rhian in December 2012, she said that the past year was a “crazy” year for her.  So, how does her 2013 fare so far?

So far everything has been ‘ideal.’  Things are really looking out for me in so many different ways.  Everything was so positive especially towards the end of the year (2012) but at the same time I was really very very busy.  What I like about the start of 2013 is that sa ‘Indio’ lang talaga ako naka-focus so the other days I have time to spend with the people I love,” she explained.

Apart from her TV series, Rhian has already graced the covers of two magazines this year and has just finished her pictorial for an upcoming issue.

Although she is not allowed to divulge any detail of the upcoming magazine cover, which is coming out in March, she offered a “teaser” of what to expect.

It will be very different from what people are used to.  I was really very nervous about it kasi if it’s different from what people are used to then it is definitely more different from what I AM used to (laughs),” she said.

Although Rhian is relatively “young” in the industry, she has successfully proven her versatility by portraying various types of characters in her previous TV shows and films. Is there anything more she has not yet done?

Feeling ko yung kulang na lang sa akin ay yung masubukan yung medyo action.  In all of the shows/projects that I do kasi, I always favored characters with a love angle.  So if I can do an action-romance story, that would be an ‘ideal’ for me,” said the actress.

Despite very tough competition in the primetime block among the country’s major TV networks, Rhian is unfazed by the ratings game.  Although she is happy that ‘Indio’ is performing well in the ratings, the numbers aren’t really her source of inspiration for doing her job well.

I’ve always felt kasi na for as long as you do your job right, you shouldn’t worry about other things.  Kasi yung ratings game it’s really not for me e and it clouds up the work that I do.  Pagka yun yong iniisip ko sa set, di ko magagawa ng maayos yung trabaho ko kasi iba yung goal mo e, hindi believability yung goal mo kundi iba,” she shared.

I always tell myself before going to the set to forget about ratings, box office, and billing.  It doesn’t matter kung sino yung lalabas na bida sa eksena na ‘to as long as makumpleto mo yung point ng character mo kung bakit nandun siya sa eksena,” added Rhian.

With her busy schedule, it must be tough to be Rhian Ramos.  Does she plan to spend a much-deserved vacation after her “Indio”?

Gusto ko talaga magbakasyon kasi hindi ako nakapag-bakasyon nung Christmas because of the film festival,” she explained.

If I were given a month, the first week I’ll probably spend it in Thailand because my dad lives there and everything’s cheap and everything tastes good.  And then gusto ko ring mag-States kasi mas murang mag-shopping dun.  I mean for sure ang idea ng marami na ‘pag sa States ka magsho-shopping ibig sabihin ay mahal pero sa totoo lang may mga brand talaga dun na lalabas na mas mura kaysa dito.  Tsaka ‘pag nag-sale dun talagang totoong sale.  Besides, may mga kaibigan din kasi ako don kaya masaya,” she said.

In “Indio,” Rhian plays the part of “Magayon,” the goddess of all flying creatures.  Magayon camouflages herself as an eagle and she possesses the power to command all winged species.  The goddess serves as Malaya/Simeon/Indio’s (Bong Revilla, Jr.) protector and the source of the lead character’s supernatural powers.

In the upcoming episodes of the series, viewers will witness how Simeon/Indio’s morale and willingness to be the champion of the natives will be tested in the face of his adversaries – the Spanish conquistadores.  Will he be able to stand it?  Will Magayon’s power be enough to help Simeon/Indio?

Watch out for these thrilling revelations in the next episodes of “Indio,” which airs weeknights (Monday to Friday) after “24 Oras” on GMA Telebabad.

Daniel Day-Lewis Illumination of the World's Greatest in History in “Lincoln”

Daniel Day-Lewis Illumination of  the World's Greatest in History in “Lincoln”

Academy-Award winner Daniel Day-Lewis (“My Left Foot,” “There Will Be Blood”) is also this year’s Academy-award nominee frontrunner for his titular role in the Steven Spielberg-directed movie “Lincoln.”

Daniel Day-Lewis stars in Steven Spielberg’s powerful drama, “Lincoln,” which focuses on the last four months in the life of the 16th President of the United States. During this pivotal period, Abraham Lincoln abolished slavery and ended the Civil War that had ravaged the country and taken an estimated 750,000 lives. With an astonishing performance from Day-Lewis and masterful direction by Spielberg, a portrait emerges of a political genius who was also a moral visionary and a warm, compassionate man.

Daniel Day-Lewis plays Abraham Lincoln, the far-sighted American president known as ‘The Great Emancipator’ and widely regarded as the most influential statesman of the 19th century.  Lincoln is determined to free the slaves, even if it means prolonging the Civil War and Steven Spielberg’s momentous new film delivers fresh and fascinating insights into the brilliant leader, explaining how the path to emancipation was fraught with complexity.

“Lincoln” explains how the President engages in backroom deals, patronage and political machinations in order to secure the passage of the all-important 13th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, the measure that officially ended the evils of human bondage. He directs the war effort toward the destruction of slavery with insight and political mastery, deliberately prolonging the war and delaying peace negotiations as he tries to build a bipartisan consensus in the House of Representatives.

Bearing a remarkable resemblance to the 16th President, Daniel Day-Lewis gives a wonderfully measured and nuanced performance as Lincoln. With his impassioned portrayal of abolitionist Thaddeus Stevens, Tommy Lee Jones offers up the performance of a lifetime. Sally Field is equally impressive as Lincoln’s highly intelligent but troubled wife, Mary Todd Lincoln. William Seward, Lincoln’s former rival who becomes the President’s greatest supporter, is masterfully played by David Strathairn. The formidably talented cast includes Joseph Gordon Levitt, James Spader, Hal Holbrook, John Hawkes, Jackie Earle Haley, Bruce McGill, Tim Blake Nelson, Joseph Cross, Jared Harris and Lee Pace.

Like many people, Day-Lewis was initially familiar with Lincoln only in broad strokes, mostly through speeches like The Gettysburg Address. “But as a human being, I had little sense of him whatsoever until I began to learn,” he says.  The screenplay kicked off the learning process. “In a very rich way, (screenwriter) Tony suggested the man through his intellect, his humor and his melancholy, both domestically and in office. The contrast between those two things is something that’s like food and drink to me. In Tony’s script you see a man in that strange paradox of being both public and private.”

He then undertook an intimate engagement with “Team of Rivals” from which the movie was in part based as well as many other writings about and by Lincoln. But this gave way to something more organic.  “Doris’ book was a great beginning,” Day-Lewis says.  Another key to Lincoln became what Day-Lewis calls “the rhythm of the man.” He explains:  “He did everything at his own pace and could only do it at his own pace. He needed to arrive at his decisive conclusions by a logical process that he relied on. What looked to others like inaction or paralysis was just the physical impression that he gave.  In his own mind he was traveling as he needed to do, through each step of the process, after which he could see things clearly.”

Indeed, production designer Rick Carter recalls a feeling of tumbling through time when Day-Lewis first came to the set:  “I haven’t gotten over the first time I saw him,” muses Carter. “Daniel Day-Lewis was not who I saw in front of me. I saw the man who was the President of the United States in 1865. I saw Abraham Lincoln. I didn’t see any distinction or gap between them.

“Lincoln” opens February 20 in theaters from 20th Century Fox and DreamWorks Pictures to be distributed by Warner Bros.

The song which serves as a strong reminder to the public for the up-coming May 2013 election also features Biboy Garcia and Manuel Legarda.

Gloc 9:
Mga kababayan, sa darating na halalan
ako sana'y mapagbigyan
ang nais ko lang naman
kayong lahat ay mapagsilbihan

Ako, ako, ako ang piliin nyo
Wag po kayong maniniwala sa iba
ang lahat ng mga sasabihin ko
totoo titigan pa ako sa mata

ako, ako ng piliin nyo
ako lamang at wala na ngang iba
ang kasagutan sa lahat
kahirapan nyo kunwari, kahirapan nyo kunwari.

Gloc 9:

kahirapan nyo kunwari.

Gloc 9:
Kapag ako'y inyong binoto
lahat ay magkakatrabaho
bawat pamilya may bigas
mga palad kong nakabukas
bakit tayo nakukuntento

‘Pilipinas Got Talent’ Poster and Trailer; Search for the Next Best Global Pinoy Talents Starts on February 16

Pilipinas Got Talent,” the country’s most successful talent-reality show, goes around the world in search for the best of the best global Filipino talents when it returns on Philippine television for its biggest and best season yet beginning this Saturday (February 16).

Talented global Filipinos from USA, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, the Middle East, Europe, Canada, Australia, and Guam got the chance to show what they got via PGT’s global auditions. The best acts from each territory flew in the country to face the Big Three Judges -  Queen of All Media Kris Aquino, Comedy Queen Ai Ai Delas Alas, and ‘The Expert’ Freddie “FMG” Garcia. Other hopefuls were also able to audition right at their very homes by via PGT’s online auditions in partnership with Cge.tv.

We know that Filipinos still have a lot to show especially when it comes to the talent department. That is why the PGT team decided to mount global and online auditions to give hopefuls a chance. We made this season the biggest season yet so if we really want to make it the biggest, we must also find the best talents in every possible way we can,” explained Business Unit Head, Joyce Liquicia.

From across the nation and across the globe, Filipinos are even more daring this season in showing what they can do after prior seasons of PGT raised the bars of talent. Aside from the popular acts of singing or dancing, auditionees became more innovative and creative in performing acts that have not been done on previous seasons.

If you think Filipinos are talented with the first three seasons of PGT, wait until you watch season four because we were able to discover even more talents. From an act that fused gymnastics and wall climbing to an act that would extinguish candlelight by using the auditionee’s own fart,” executive producer, Richelle Bernal shared.

Adding up to the excitement is a whole new viewing experience as the show takes a different approach in introducing each act, tell the stories behind every auditionee, and even doing the opening number with hosts, Luis Manzano and Billy Crawford.

PGT hopefuls will face the Big Three judges in the audition stage and impress them with their acts. Once they make the cut they will automatically be shortlisted among the contestants to be included in the Judges Cull, where the judges will determine 36 acts that will advance to the Quarter Finals.

For six weeks, six acts will be pitted against one another in a talent showdown, where only two will make it through - one chosen via viewers’ text votes and one by the judges - to complete the roster of semi-finalists.

The 12 semi-finalists will again battle it out in the Semi-Final round until only six of them make the last and final cut of the competition to formally enter the Final round. Who will be the fourth grand winner of “Pilipinas Got Talent”?

Don’t miss “Pilipinas Got Talent 4” every Saturday, beginning Feb 16, after “MMK,” and every Sunday, after “Rated K” on ABS-CBN.

Blake Lively at Center of Unusual Love Triangle on “Savages”

Blake Lively at Center of Unusual Love Triangle on “Savages”

“Gossip Girl” and “Green Lantern” sensation Blake Lively stars as Ophelia, an extraordinary beauty who shares an unconventional relationship with two men, in director Oliver Stone's unpredictable thriller “Savages.”

Also starring Taylor Kitsch, Aaron Johnson, John Travolta, Benecio del Toro, Salma Hayek, Emile Hirsch and Demian Bichir, “Savages” will be shown exclusively at Ayala Malls Cinemas starting February 20. Moviegoers can catch it at Glorietta 4, Greenbelt 3, Trinoma, Alabang Town Center and Market! Market!

In the film, Laguna Beach entrepreneurs Ben (Johnson), a peaceful and charitable Buddhist, and his closest friend Chon (Kitsch), a former Navy SEAL and ex-mercenary, run a lucrative, homegrown industry - raising some of the best marijuana ever developed. They also share a one-of-a-kind love with Ophelia, or simply, O (Lively). Life is idyllic in their Southern California town...until the Mexican Baja Cartel decides to move in and demands that the trio partners with them. And so begins a series of increasingly vicious ploys and maneuvers in a high stakes, savage battle of wills.

Lively plays the beautiful, warmhearted O - a free spirit who, when kidnapped, proves to have just as much grit and fortitude as the Baja Cartel. About his choice for the part, Stone commends: "Blake's an impressive actress. She was only 23. She had a lot of input into her character and is fearless. Blake has to appear in the movie often in an unflattering light, and she never flinched."

Lively becomes the voice of “Savages,” as O narrates the tale, and Stone used the voiceover technique as efficiently and specifically as possible. The director explains: "The idea of O narrating the movie grew naturally from the book, where she tells the story to the reader. But a voiceover in a film can potentially sap it of its tension by making it overly self-conscious. Insofar as the book has more than a hundred scenes and many characters, far more than we can afford in a movie, we worked to minimize the information and still use the voiceover to connect the dots."

For her part, Lively liked the fact that "O is the one thread that ties everyone together." Indeed, she interacts in multiple scenes with most of the other actors and had to run the gamut as a performer, and calls the shoot "intense, tumultuous and challenging." Says the actress: "It was amazing because I got to exist in each character's world, from this privileged life with the boys in Laguna to being tortured and in cages and being shipped off to Tijuana. It was a challenge to experience so much in a film on so many different levels—from ultimate happiness to ultimate pain."

The Southern California native was fascinated by the story's take on a nontraditional family and how three people could love each other that much. Lively offers that she treated O's story with respect and care: "One of the main reasons that I felt that Ben, Chon and O were together is that they were each other's family. They were each other's everything. None of them had real families. They did not have anyone to learn from, no one who was there for them through thick and thin. And they found that in each other."

Lively was named Breakthrough Performer of the Year at CinemaCon 2011. She most recently starred opposite Ryan Reynolds in “Green Lantern.” Prior to that, she starred alongside Jon Hamm, Jeremy Renner and Ben Affleck in “The Town,” which Affleck also directed.

She first gained the attention of critics and audiences with her first starring role in the 2005 hit “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants,” for which she earned a Teen Choice Award nomination for Choice Movie Breakout Performance - Female. In 2008, she reprised her role in the sequel, “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2.”

Donita Rose Talks About Her Second First Kiss Experience

Donita Rose Talks About Her Second First Kiss Experience

It was her captivating smile, good looks, “kalog” attitude and charming personality that captured the hearts of many, not to mention her popularity as a celebrity. These qualities definitely made her the dream girl of bachelors. Yet despite of the many young and handsome faces in showbiz, only one man victoriously got her sweet yes and ended up marrying her. It was Eric Villarama who got the key to Donita Rose’s heart.

During the course of their boyfriend-girlfriend relationship, Eric and Donita admitted having tough times dealing with temptations when it comes to their physical intimacy. Despite their faith and convictions as Christians, there were times self-control was out of hand.

So after they got engaged, the lovely couple decided to keep themselves pure by abstaining from any sexual activity until their marriage.

One of the greatest things that encouraged me to be pure is that I have experienced a life without God and I have experienced having God. When you experience the presence of God, pag nawawala sya parang it’s the worst feeling ever. So sabi ko, ayoko na magkasala. I want to be pure because I always want to have God with me.”

Thankfully for Donita, Eric was God-fearing and he also had convictions. “He told me he was willing to wait, and so we set some parameters around us. Before, we used to kiss on the lips, but our friend Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan challenged us to pray and fast that we stop kissing on the lips before the wedding.  It was hard but we wanted God’s presence to be on our wedding, so we decided to do it,” Donita confessed.

She added, “The first month was really hard. But after a while, we got used to just hugging. I realized that kissing leads to other things. And that’s where we both stumble. So I drew the line at kissing.”

Also, we don’t end up going places where we can be alone and be tempted. We can be together as long as we’re in public. No physical intimacy, we decided we can hold hands pero hanggang dun lang.”

According the the VJ-actress, there are many ways to be intimate without being physical. The little sweet things that Eric does for her like bringing her flowers and writing her love letters, and the things that they do together like praying, studying God’s word, and playing sports are all acts on intimacy that she truly cherishes.

Eric and Donita finished their race through accountability. They also had premarital counseling together and of course, they prayed a lot.  When day of their wedding finally came, the two lovebirds couldn’t be happier. Upon hearing the Pastor’s words: “You may now kiss the bride”, Eric and Donita knew the wait’s finally over.

And as for Donita, her second first kiss was all worth the wait. “It was like kissing for the first time again. It was the sweetest kiss ever.  I have no regrets we waited. In fact, I am so glad we did.”

TV5 Programs Continue to Change Pinoy Lives

TV5 Programs Continue to Change Pinoy Lives

Breaking the typecasting of television as the "idiot box" offering nothing but momentary gratification, TV5 through its primetime programs could be credited in impacting the lives of the people that it touches.  Three of its programs, Enchanted Garden, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (EMHE) Philippines and Dancing Nation: A Talentadong Pinoy Special, have been praised for bringing some of the country’s pressing concerns to primetime TV.

Last year, Enchanted Garden was awarded the Gawad Muyong by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) as a result of the show’s efforts in raising public awareness about saving the environment. The Kapatid Network’s first eco-fantasya was also recognized for bringing environmental issues closer to viewers.

More than just entertaining Filipinos, TV5 also featured the struggles and triumphs of ordinary Pinoys by showcasing them on the small screen. EMHE Philippines was recently named a Finalist to the 2013 New York Festivals. Based on the original Endemol worldwide TV hit, the Philippine edition proved that lives can indeed be changed one home at a time. The cause-oriented show successfully reached out to families and communities that deserved a new lease on life, beginning with a home that they can call their own.

Another example of entertainment-cum-civic action is when three hundred dancers from Laua-an, Antique emerged victorious during the first Dancing Nation: A Talentadong Pinoy Special last weekend. They won P1million in cash to help their town’s “Operation: Timbang” program that combats malnutrition especially among children. The town of Laua-an beat dancers representing Alaminos (Pangasinan), Infanta (Quezon), Jose Panganiban (Camarines Norte), Tupi (South Cotabato), Rodriguez (Rizal) and Calauag (Quezon).

The Talentadong Pinoy special is more than just a dance competition and allows the participating towns or communities to articulate their people’s concerns to a much greater audience. Celebrities like Alice Dixson, Arnell Ignacio and Audie Gemora even gave their personal contributions to the featured causes after seeing each town’s commitment through dance.

With the success of Enchanted Garden, EMHE Philippines and Dancing Nation, TV5 proves that building a more united Philippines remains at the heart of its programs. In the huge task of bringing the fruits of development to every Filipino, the Kapatid Network remains committed to its mission of sharing with our countrymen its own brand of bayanihan spirit as the nation looks forward to the challenges of the 21st century.

Cesar Montano Portrays, Directs the "Alfredo S. Lim: The Untold Story" Movie

Cesar Montano on Doing Both TV5's Never Say Goodbye and Alfredo S. Lim Biopic Movie: "
Very challenging but the satisfaction is priceless"

While some people are saying that Alfredo S. Lim: The Untold Story maybe seen as a propaganda vehicle to promote the life of a politician, actor-director-producer Cesar Montano begs to differ.

Cesar, handpicked by Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim himself not only to play his character on the big screen in the fourth installment of the movie version of his real life exploits, says “we are very proud of our movie. There was a conscious effort on the part of everyone involved in the production to come up with a film that tells a beautiful story. When you watch the movie, there is no propaganda involved. We are hoping you will see what we saw--an extraordinary individual, a hero in his own right, that aims to inspire and teach by just being himself,” he said.

Cesar added that this movie on the life of Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim will reveal the facet of the public figure never before seen by the public. “In the movie, we will have a better insight into the character of the Mayor. His roots, the travails and tragedies he faced even as a child, and all these events that led to him turning up to be the great man that he is today.”

Cesar said their plan is to enter this movie in film festivals abroad. “We know that this is the kind of movie that will interest the international movie audience, too. We have high hopes that we can bring this to them.”

The actor-director and producer is feeling the pressure because he is also doing a heavy drama soap opera for TV5 with superstar Nora Aunor and Alice Dixson billed Never Say Goodbye. The long hours he spends for both projects oftentimes leave him exhausted. But he is not complaining. He said, “Sometimes it’s really very challenging but the adrenaline just kicks in every time. The satisfaction is also very rewarding. The freedom to give life to the character, to direct where the story will go, and the fruition of all the hard work you put into it, it is simply priceless.”

Cesar started working on the movie last November and had been working non-stop everyday. “When I don’t have taping for TV5, you will find me shooting and editing for Turning Cradle,” he said.

Joining Cesar in the big-budgetted movie are great actors and thespians who delivered outstandingly and completed the movie’s vision: Nonie Buencamino, Tirso Cruz III, Gina Pareno, Spanky Manikan, Gloria Romero, Alessandra De Rossi, Marc Abaya, Alwyn Uytingco, Alvin Anson, among others. Also in the cast are Ara Mina, Jackielou Blanco, Richard Quan, Rommel Montano, Jeffrey Tam, Raquel Pareno, Migs Cuaderno and Isabel Granada.

Alfredo S. Lim: The Untold Story will have a premiere night on February 26 at the SM Manila. Regular playdate begins February 27 at your favorite theaters.
