Philippines Made World History as the Only Country to Win All Beauty Queen Titles
The Philippines made world history on Saturday, September 28, as Megan Young - the country's bet to the Miss World 2013 beauty pageant win the competition held in Bali, Indonesia.
The 23-year-old actress-model-host is the first Filipina to win the elusive Miss World crown since the pageant’s inception in 1951 making the Philippines the only country to win at least one crown each from the world’s five largest and recognized beauty pageants.
In 1973, Evangeline Pascual finished first-runner up. Between Gwendoline and Evangeline, and prior to Megan’s historic win, the Miss World title was elusive to the Philippines. Ruffa Gutierrez is perhaps the fourth most successful Miss World-Philippines delegate, placing third during the 1993 pageant.
