Sarah Lahbati Word War Against GMA-7 Regarding Violation of Contract (Full Details)

Sarah Lahbati Word War Against GMA-7 Regarding Violation of Contract (Full Details)

Homegrown Kapuso star Sarah Lahbati is now in the middle of battle against her mother studio GMA-7 after she decided to sign a co-management contract with Annabelle Rama - the mother of her real-life boyfriend Richard Gutierrez.

On her Twitter account @sarahlahbati, Sarah revealed three things about her recent career decision:

1) "I signed a contract with Royal Artist (Tita Annabelle Rama) as a co manager with GMA Artist Center..."

2) “I didn't sign with ICONS because they wanted to deduct another 15% on top of the 25% that is being deducted by GMA Artist Center..."

3) “Because of all of this uncertainty and stress, my family and I decided that I go back to Switzerland and study there :("

In the statement sent by Angel Javier, assistant vice president of the network's corporate communications department, a portion underlined that Sarah "has to perform and appear in programs and events assigned to her, and make herself available to faithfully and promptly fulfill all engagements contracted for her by GMA."

In addition, the female winner of StarStruck batch 5 also has to "address the issue of her walking out during taping, which caused the production team to pack-up, and incur an additional cost of 500k."

To date, she has two pending projects - Indio, a series topbilled by Bong Revilla; and Seduction, a film that will also star her boyfriend Richard Gutierrez and Solenn Heussaff.

Still according to GMA-7's statement, Sarah already asked for a one-month leave of absence last December.

Her reason, "to de-stress and unwind," was not approved by the management because of her "pending obligations."

Here's the full statement sent via email at 10:07, January 3 (published as is):

Last December, Sarah Lahbati unilaterally decided to take a leave of absence of one (1) month from GMA Network, because she said she wanted to de-stress and unwind.  Because her reasons were vague, they were not accepted by management.  While we understand that work in our industry can be stressful (as in any business), we believe that this is not only unavoidable in most cases, but also a part of what one does as a professional and/or performing artist.

Her leave of absence was also disapproved by management because of her pending obligations (i.e. Party Pilipinas, on-going promos and other endorsement commitments).  However, on the evening of Jan 2, she tweeted that she will be going to Switzerland to study, despite the disapproval given to her last December on taking a leave.  This is in violation of her contract, because she has to perform and appear in programs and events assigned to her, and make herself available to faithfully and promptly fulfill all engagements contracted for her by GMA.

At the same time, she has yet to address the issue of her walking out during taping, which caused the production team to pack-up, and incur an additional cost of 500k.  She is therefore, currently under investigation and the network is still studying on what actions to take."

After the above statement was released, Sarah again aired her side on Twitter:

The Kapuso Network again issued a statement in response to an earlier set of tweets from the StarStruck winner.

GMA Network pointed out that Sarah’s request to take a leave of absence of one month from GMA Network to de-stress and unwind was disapproved because her reasons were vague and due to her pending obligations.

The Network also mentioned that Sarah Lahbati is under investigation specifically for walking out from a taping, which incurred a substantial increase in the production cost.

GMA Network’s reply to Sarah Lahbati’s latest tweets:

1) GMA maintains its position that Sarah Lahbati violated her contract with the network.

2) The walk-out incident from a taping of Sarah Lahbati is still being investigated. We welcome Sarah’s denial that she walked out from that taping and her denial will expedite the action(s) we will take depending on the result of our investigation because there will no longer be any need to ask her to explain.

3) We are not going to comment at this time on the other statements of Sarah Lahbati that has no relevance to the violation of her contract with GMA.

4) Sarah Lahbati was discovered by the network and is a homegrown talent developed, trained, and promoted by the network.

Sarah Geronimo Talks About Getting Pregnant this Year, The Hurt Caused by Gerald Anderson and Her Kissing Scene with John Lloyd Cruz

Sarah Geronimo Talks About Getting Pregnant this Year, The Hurt Caused by Gerald Anderson and Her Kissing Scene with John Lloyd Cruz

Sarah Geronimo turned emotional as she broke her silence on her failed romance with actor Gerald Anderson.

Sarah once again stressed that her parents had nothing to do with the end of their budding romance, reacting to speculations that her mother, Divine, asked Anderson to stop wooing her.

While she did not directly mention the Kapamilya actor, Sarah confirmed that she is still hurting because of another failed romance.

"Totoo 'yung sinabi ni ate Judai (Judy Ann Santos), every heartache nagi-increase 'yung pain level niyan. Totoo pala 'yon," the singer said.

Sarah also gave advice to those who want to try to win her heart.

"'Yun pa rin, tulad ng dati, 'yung hindi mapapagod na ipaglaban ako. Hindi isasama ang trabaho ko sa personal na buhay ko. Kasi package ako, kasama ko 'yung pamilya ko, 'yung mga magulang ko. Kailangan kapag ang lalaki nanligaw sa akin, alam niya yon, alam niya na mayroon akong nanay at tatay na nagpo-protekta sa akin," Sarah said.

Asked to react to predictions from fortune-tellers that she will get pregnant this year, she said: "This year? Parang pagkatapos ng lahat ng sinabi ko. Sana ay mapangalagaan ko ang values na na-instill sa akin ng mga magulang ko. Ang paniniwala po na ang marriage muna bago magkakaroon ng anak, sana 'yon, mapanindigan ko 'yon. Ayaw kong masayang ang pag-iingat sa akin ng magulang ko at magandang ehemplo sa mga kabataan, sa mga ka-age ko."

Sarah who is set to start shooting her third movie soon with John Lloyd Cruz entitled "It Takes a Man and a Woman" said she is somewhat ready to do a kissing scene for the movie, although she still has apprehensions.

"Half of my heart ready na at half of my heart hindi pa. Parang hindi ko pa makita ang sarili ko na nakikita ng buong tao na nakikipag-kiss ako. Pero naniniwala ako sa galing ng direktor namin," Sarah said, referring to director Cathy Garcia-Molina.

And even if she feels ready, the singer still needs to consult with her parents and her manager.

"Kailangang pag-usapan at ikonsulta muna ang magulang at manager ko, kung ito na ba ang time para doon, kung ready na ang supporters ko doon, kung ready na ba ako doon," she said.

"It Takes a Man and a Woman" is scheduled to be shown in cinemas nationwide this February.

Kelly Clarkson Gay Rumors Possibly True

Kelly Clarkson Gay Rumors Possibly True

'Being single doesn't mean you're gay,' singer told Cosmopolitan about rumors before getting engaged to Brandon Blackstock.

Kelly Clarkson is now engaged to Brandon Blackstock. But how come reports about her being gay persist?

MTV reports:

Before [Kelly] Clarkson became a wife-to-be, she was a longtime single lady, which, in turn, sparked rumors that she was gay. Yet, Clarkson admits, those headlines never fazed her.

"People think, 'Oh, she's been single for too long.' That's kind of an insult to the gay community," Clarkson said. "Being single doesn't mean you're gay. But I'm never insulted by it. I mean, I get hit on by the hottest girls ever. Oh my god, if I was a lesbian, I would be so in luck. But it's just not my thing. I've always batted for the boys' team."

Fans of Clarkson, fear not, even though she is now extremely happy with her fiancé and recently celebrated her 30th birthday, it doesn't mean that she will stop writing her hit songs about relationship problems; they might just have a different spin to them.

"It's kind of the next chapter for me, so there's still stuff to write about. The idea of 'Catch My Breath' is 'Man, it's been a decade and a lot of growing up.' And I think women in their 20s are searching, searching, searching... What do I want? What makes me happy? What doesn't make me happy?" Clarkson said. "I tell my boyfriend, 'I feel like the rug is gonna be pulled out from under me anytime.' He thinks I'm such a pessimist. But I think being so happy freaks you out. So there's something to write about in that as well."

Piolo Pascual Film Festival this January 2013

Get your weekly dose of heart-fluttering Piolo Pascual films on Cinema One this month as it presents the award winning actor-singer on the channel’s Romance Central Block, Sundays at 6:00 p.m. Watch out for his films “9 Mornings”, “Paano Kita Iibigin”, “Milan” and “Till There Was You”.

The 2002 film by Jose Javier Reyes, “9 Mornings”, is a romantic comedy film featuring Piolo and Donita Rose. He plays as Gene, the workaholic obsessive-compulsive event organizer who has a tragic past that resulted to his loss of faith and belief in God. The conflict begins when his late grandmother leaves him wealth in a condition that he should complete the nine dawn-masses (simbang gabi), a religious practice he abhors. “9 Mornings” airs on January 6.

“Paano Kita Iibigin” is Joyce Bernal’s 2007 film starring Piolo and Regine Velasquez that revolves around the romance between Martee (Regine), a broke and recently unemployed single mother and Lance (Piolo) a rich and arrogant resort owner. The two meet when Martee decides to flee from the city to find comfort in Lance’s resort where Martee’s son accidentally damages an expensive motorcycle prompting her to work for Lance as payment for the damages. “Paano Kita Iibigin” which also stars Eugene Domingo, Erich Gonzales, and Iya Villania marked the first time that Pascual worked with Viva Films and the first time that Velasquez worked with Star Cinema. This airs on January 13.

The 2004 blockbuster hit, “Milan”, directed by acclaimed director Olivia Lamasan and filmed in different cities in Italy stars Piolo and Claudine Barretto and mirrors the life of Filipino migrant workers who found love and refuge in each other. Piolo and Claudine’s performance as Lino and Jenny garnered them the prestigious Best Actor and Best Actress awards in FAMAS while the film was nominated for Best Picture. According to a review on Showbizpinoy.com, “Piolo was able to convey various layers of emotions in the most effective manner all throughout the movie. You feel his sadness, desperation and helplessness in this foreign land.” The film also stars Iza Calzado, Ryan Eigenmann, and Lotlot de Leon and airs on January 20.

Piolo and Judy Ann Santos stars in their 3rd blockbuster hit “Till There Was You” directed by Joyce Bernal. A short bus ride begins the romantic film where Joanna (Judy Ann) leaves a book with her photograph in it, picked and kept hidden through the years by Albert (Piolo), a single father. Joanna was drawn into the lives of Albert and his daughter Pippa when the latter saw her by chance and remembered her face in the photograph that she always thought was her long-lost mother. “Till There Was You” airs on January 27.

Begin the year filled with love through Cinema One’s Romance Central Block featuring Piolo Pascual Sunday nights at 6:00 p.m. The number one cable channel in the country, Cinema One (Skycable Ch. 56), is available on SkyCable Gold, SkyCable Silver and other quality cable operators nationwide. ABS-CBN's ‘Minute To Win It’ Try-out Schedules Announced

ABS-CBN's ‘Minute To Win It’ Try-out Schedules Announced

Do you think you can knock over a pyramid of beverage cans using rubber bands or pull all tissues out of a box one by one, using only one hand – all under one minute? Complete tasks like these using everyday household items in less than one minute and you can win P1 million in ABS-CBN’s newest game show “Minute to Win It.”

From the international production company that brought you the local versions of “The Biggest Loser” and “MasterChef,” “Minute to Win It” made waves in the United States and around the world for its highly addictive and nerve-wracking games that challenge ordinary people to hone their skills for a chance to change their lives. It has been franchised in 40 countries, including Australia, India, and the United Kingdom.

The Philippine version of “Minute to Win It” will be hosted by Luis Manzano. Contestants take part in a series of challenges that utilize readily available items at home, school, and the office, in less than one minute each. With each level increasing in difficulty and cash prize, contestants will have to decide if they stop playing and take the money they’ve earned, or continue for a shot at P1 million.

Try-outs for the game show will open on January 7 and 8, 8AM at the ABS-CBN Center Road in Quezon City to people 18 years old and above. Interested participants are encouraged to practice at home the games mentioned here.

Challenges that also await participants also include fanning three raw eggs with a pizza box into a pre-designated area on the other side of the stage, stacking eight octagon bolts on top of each other using a barbecue stick to form a tower that must be freestanding for three seconds, tossing a water bottle and getting it to land upright on a table five feet away, and sucking candies with a straw and placing them one at a time on straws standing vertically.

Watch out for “Minute to Win It” this January on ABS-CBN. For updates on the program, visit www.abs-cbn.com.

Kris Aquino Brewing War Against GMA Network Writer Regarding "Sisterakas" Review

Kris Aquino Brewing War Against GMA Network Writer Regarding "Sisterakas" Review

It all started with this "Sisterakas" movie review by blogger J.I.E Teodoro and published on GMAnetwork.com last December 31 with the title "Ai Ai is 'Sisterakas'' Saving Grace":
“Sisterakas” (Star Cinema and Viva Films) is a shamelessly “money-trip” movie, driven purely by profit. It is ironic that the backdrop of the story of this movie is the fashion world which is supposed to be about class and taste, but this movie is a twisted celebration of poor taste.

Star fixation is one of the pitfalls of the Philippine movie industry, and “Sisterakas” brought this trait to a new low. Lead stars Kris Aquino and Vice Ganda are so full of themselves that they no longer portray their characters and instead reference themselves—thei-r love lives, their product endorsements, and their friendship. I wonder why they bothered to make a movie at all.

The only saving grace of “Sisterakas” is Ai Ai delas Alas. She can move the audience to laugh and cry with her. But then again, her role and acting style did not depart from her “Tanging Ina Mo” movie series. Meaning, she and Wenn V. Deramas, who directed the well-made movie series about the life and (mis)adventures- of Ina Montecillo, ran out of ideas and ended up with this pathetic money-trip of a movie.

I have no quarrel with profit. I myself would love to have a lot of money. But when you do this in the context of the Metro Manila Film Festival where the objective is to promote and revive Philippine movies, doing a bad movie like “Sisterakas” defeats the purpose.

“Sisterakas” is irritating because I know that its director, Deramas, is capable of directing a great film. Vice Ganda, if well-directed and guided by a decent script, can make one laugh, and Ai Ai delas Alas can be a darling of a comedienne.

It is interesting to note that details like the story and screenplay writers were not included in the movie poster, which is just as well since “Sisterakas” has no original story. The production design does not meet the standards for a movie about the fashion design world and much is wanting in its cinematography.

The greatest disgrace of “Sisterakas” is Kris Aquino. Someone should have told her doing comedy is far more difficult than drama or horror. She could not deliver a punch line and her movements were awkward. I know it is unfair to compare her to Meryl Streep and Glenn Close, but many scenes in the movie reminded me of “The Devil Wears Prada” and “101 Dalmatians,” only done poorly.

I could not help but cringe every time Kris referred to her status as the President's sister, like in the scene when she challenged Vice Ganda to a boxing match. “Suntukan? E 'di ipapakulong ako ng kuya mo,” Vice Ganda said to that effect. And Kris screamed her answer in a way that endangered the national eardrums.

When President Benigno C. Aquino III was elected, poet and TV personality Lourd Ernest de Veyra called for the “Separation of Kris and State.” There was a collective national sigh of relief when Kris announced that she was quitting The Buzz, a showbiz gossip-oriented- television talk show. I really appreciated that because the last thing the administration of her Kuya Noynoy would need were her embarrassing pronouncements on national television that might jeopardize national sanity and security. Finally, the country would be freed from the irritating voice of Kris Aquino. But of course I was wrong. She quit The Buzz but appeared on other TV shows.

The name James Yap became a standard joke in “Sisterakas.” Kris joking about her failed marriage with this Philippine basketball star is simply bad taste. Deramas should have left this out for this is so unfair to Yap. A failed marriage is not something to laugh about. What they did to James Yap was worse than toilet humor.

I have some advice for Ms. Kris Aquino. Now that the economy of our country is doing well under the presidency of her brother, I think it is time for her to perform a sacrifice, a heroic act even, of setting the country free from her incompetence as a movie actor.

Which the Queen of All Media Kris Aquino answers today through her Twitter account @krisaquino214.

In a reply to her Twitter follower @riokools and entertainment writer-host @mjfelipe, Kris said:

Read the piece. Simple reply, how sad for him because i'm here to stay & will try my best to bug him for many yrs more!

"Actually it wasn't a review, more of a personal attack against me, that's y I am grateful to my audience because u negate his view," replied Kris to one of her followers who said that the review is biased.

"OA na hatred for me diba? Hehehe- kaya para lalong mabwisit by February i’ll be on TV 12X a wk! Kris Tv(5), KKI(5) & PGT(2)."

“The Incredible Burt Wonderstone” Posters Unveiled

New Line Cinema has uncovered four character one-sheets of its upcoming magic-themed comedy “The Incredible Burt Wonderstone.” The posters individually highlight the lead castmembers Steve Carell, Steve Buscemi, Olivia Wilde and Jim Carrey.

In the film, superstar magicians Burt Wonderstone (Carell) and Anton Marvelton (Buscemi) have ruled the Las Vegas strip for years, raking in millions with illusions as big as Burt’s growing ego. But lately the duo’s greatest deception is their public friendship, while secretly they’ve grown to loathe each other.

Facing cutthroat competition from guerilla street magician Steve Gray (Carrey), whose cult following surges with each outrageous stunt, even their show looks stale. But there’s still a chance Burt and Anton can save the act - both onstage and off - if Burt can get back in touch with what made him love magic in the first place.

The film is directed by Emmy Award winner Don Scardino (“30 Rock”), from a screenplay by Jonathan Goldstein & John Francis Daley (“Horrible Bosses”).

Serving as a special consultant for the stage illusions is the world’s most successful magician, David Copperfield.

Opening across the Philippines on March 2013, “The Incredible Burt Wonderstone” is a New Line Cinema presentation and will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Marian Rivera Fires Back at Glaiza de Castro and Dennis Trillo

Expect more shocking revelations and twists on GMA’s Temptation of Wife as the highly-anticipated return of Marian Rivera’s character as the feisty Chantal will be revealed in the episodes this week.

Avid viewers of the series will have more reasons to stay glued to their favorite primetime drama as the grand revelation and big comeback of Angeline (Marian) will finally happen. She transforms into a strong and cunning woman and will now be known as Chantal Gonzales.

Marian is overwhelmed and very happy by the positive reviews and comments she has been receiving for her performance in the series. She expresses her excitement on portraying the challenging role of her alter ego, Chantal, and promises that the succeeding episodes will keep viewers on the edge of their seats. “Mas daring at sophisticated na Marian ang mapapanood nila bilang Chantal at dapat nilang abangan ang kanyang pagbabalik sa mga nanghamak at nanakit sa kanya.”

Angeline is grateful to Yolanda (Ayen Munji-Laurel) for helping in her planned revenge against the Salcedos and most especially to Heidi (Glaiza de Castro). As she embraces her new identity, Chantal gets to spend more time with Nigel (Rafael Rosell) who starts to fall in love with her.

Meanwhile, Heidi is devastated after learning that she is not pregnant but has a cyst in her ovary. She will still have nightmares of Angeline, and thinks she is still alive after the police couldn’t find her body.

How will Marcel react to a woman who looks exactly like his supposed dead wife, Angeline? And when fate begins to favor the once oppressed Angeline, how will she turn the tables on Marcel (Dennis Trillo) and Heidi who once betrayed her?

Temptation of Wife airs weeknights after Pahiram ng Sandali on GMA Telebabad.
