Baron Geisler Arrested, Stayed in Jail After Beating Neighbor Because of "Tinapay"

Baron Geisler was arrested and imprisoned at Quezon City Police Station 5 on Friday night after he allegedly assaulted his neighbor due to conflict in "bread".

The victim, a sari-sari store owner named Raymund Dela Rosa said he was watching television with his wife and three-year-old child at around 7 p.m. in their East Fairview, QC residence when the drunk actor, to their surprise, broke into his house to get a bread and throw them on the floor. When he told the actor to leave, he suddenly smashed a monobloc chair against the screen of the store  and punched him front of his family

The actor was released at around 10 a.m. on Saturday after Dela Rosa formally dropped the charges of physical injuries, malicious mischief and child abuse against the actor who, according to his brother Donald, is still undergoing treatment for his alcoholism.

"I really didn't do anything nagkataon lang na i became a brat, nagalit ako,” Baron said of the incident.

Julia Montes and Enchong Dee Break-up Surface; Aiza Seguerra and Krizza Neri in a Relationship?

Yes, they have never admitted any romantic involvement in the past, but rumor about the splitsville of Kapamilya actors Enchong Dee and Julia Montes now surfaced.

The two, according to reports, decided to finally end their (not so) hidden relationship mid-October after years of on-and-off relationship.

***

Aiza Seguerra, who is being linked romantically to her Protege Krizza Neri, remains mum about their rumored relationship.

"So I can say that I’m happy pero hanggang doon na lang ang makukuha ninyo sa akin. Parang ganito lang 'yan. Kumbaga whatever I have, siguro sa akin na lang 'yon. Hindi ko naman tinatago. Ang aking lang is this is my relationship not other people’s relationship." Aiza explained.

The official full trailer for the 20th anniversary film offering of Star Magic titled "24/7 in Love" has been released.

The trailer, which features an extended look at the onscreen "love teams" portrayed by various Kapamilya stars, gives a glimpse of seven different love stories that take significant turns as the feared "end of the world" nears.

Directed by John D. Lazatin, Mae Czarina Cruz, Frasco Santos Mortiz and Dado Lumibao, "24/7 In Love" will hit theaters nationwide on November 21.

Kylie Padilla backs out from GMA-7's upcoming primetime teleserye "Pahiram ng Sandali" - her supposed first team-up with actor Dingdong Dantes after the Kapuso management decided to shelve "Haram" due to controversies.

According to her manager Betchay Vidanes, the role given to Kylie is far too adult for Robin Padilla's 19-year-old daughter.

Luchi Cruz-Valdez Represents TV5 at News Xchange in Barcelona; RESCUE5 Invited at World Public Relations Forum 2012 in Australia

In keeping with TV5’s commitment to excellent news production and public service, NEWS5 executives will be joining some of the world’s best in broadcasting to discuss some of the network’s best practices in Barcelona, Spain and Melbourne, Australia.

NEWS5 Chief Luchi Cruz-Valdes is set to leave for Barcelona on November 12 to represent the Kapatid Network at News Xchange, the largest gathering of international broadcast news organizations in the world, which will be held from the 16th to the 18th of this month. The only Filipino broadcast journalist and executive at the event, she is slated to be a panelist in discussing “The Evolving Role of Journalism” alongside award-winning Ghanaian investigative journalist Anas Aremayaw Anas.

The panel session is produced and moderated by mostly CNN personalities, like supervising producer Lisa Cohen whose The CNN Freedom Project led to the release of scores of modern day slaves. Pertaining to NEWS5’s coverage and emergency response system during times of calamities, Cohen said, “There are not many TV news organizations that have made a sustained, long-term commitment to a cause in the way that CNN and TV5 have. In fact, we might be the only ones who have done so.”

Meanwhile, Philippine TV’s first emergency response unit RESCUE5 was invited to present at the World Public Relations Forum 2012, a biennial meeting of over 700 thought leaders, practitioners, researchers and educators from 24 countries engaged in PR and communication. The Forum will be held in Melbourne, Australia from November 18 to 20. The organizers from Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management invited RESCUE5, led by head Sherryl Yao and licensed rescuers-journalists Paolo Bediones and Benjie Dorango, to discuss how NEWS5’s emergency rescue unit has played a vital role in giving information and extending help in a disaster-prone country like the Philippines via panel session titled “Communication and Global Crisis: a discussion on natural disasters and recoveries.”

Judy Ann Santos and Jodi Sta. Maria Set to Further Strengthen ABS-CBN's Morning Block Beginning November 12

Starting on Monday (November 12), the country’s no.1 daytime teleserye “Be Careful With My Heart” will air on a later timeslot, 11:15am, to pave way for the arrival of its newest ally in ABS-CBN’s morning block - Judy Ann Santos‘ much-awaited daily cooking reality show “MasterChef: Pinoy Edition,” which will air daily at 10:30am.

Meanwhile, based on the data from Kantar Media for the whole month of October, “Be Careful With My Heart” still remained as the no.1 daytime TV program nationwide. With its 23.3% average national TV rating, the love story of Maya (Jodi Sta. Maria) and Sir Chief (Richard Yap) even overthrown GMA’s primetime teleseryes that were not even part of the list of top 15 programs in October.

Continue to spread the good vibes in the morning and fall in love with the new-age fairytale of Yaya Maya and her Sir Chief in the country’s no.1 daytime program, “Be Careful With My Heart,” weekdays, 11:15am, before “It’s Showtime” on ABS-CBN. Cheryl has been in talks with producers to be the next Bachelorette and they think she’d be a really good choice. She has a huge fan base, she’s great on television and they definitely think people would want to watch her find true love on TV.”

GMA Network Grosses P10.612-B Consolidated Revenues for First 9 Months of 2012

GMA Network Grosses P10.612-B Consolidated Revenues for First 9 Months of 2012

Broadcast giant GMA Network, Inc. (GMA) reported strong financial results for the third quarter owing to increased advertising sales across its major revenue platforms.

Consolidated gross revenues for the third quarter of 2012 reached P3.822 billion reflecting a double-digit growth of 13 percent from the P3.384 billion recorded in 2011, while net income rose 9 percent to P573 million from P525 million in the previous year.

The increase in Q3 earnings was driven mainly by the substantial growth in airtime revenues, which exceeded last year’s figure by 14 percent or P443 million to P3.537 billion.

This brings the Company’s total gross revenues for the first nine months of 2012 to P10.612 billion, an increase of 5 percent or equivalent to at least half a billion year on year.

In the said period, GMA’s airtime revenues grew 5 percent to P9.739 billion versus last year’s P9.253 billion.

Parent company Channel 7 posted a 5 percent increase in airtime sales, while leading local news channel GMA News TV grew its advertising revenues by 24 percent.

Regional TV, on account of its aggressive expansion efforts, also improved its revenues from national and local sales by 24 percent. Radio, on the other hand, hiked up its earnings and surpassed last year’s solid performance by 4 percent.

GMA Chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe L. Gozon said that the management is pleased with the Company’s third quarter financial performance, and forecasts sustained revenue growth as political ads are expected to come on stream in the last quarter.

“Given the third quarter figures, we are optimistic that the fourth quarter will bring even better financial results as we expect political ads to further boost our earnings for the year,” Gozon said.

Meanwhile, revenues from other sources for the nine-month period factored in an additional P873 million, 2 percent or P17 million higher than last year.

GMA New Media, Inc.’s recently formed techno-creative unit Digify, Inc. generated more than half of the net increase in this revenue category

The subscriber uptake of GMA’s flagship international channel, GMA Pinoy TV, remained on the uptrend at 320,000 (or an estimated 2.1 million), 12 percent higher year on year. GLTV, on the other hand, registered 121,000 (or an estimated 1.1 million) subscribers, up 1 percent from last year. During the third quarter, GMA News TV International was launched in du Mobile (UAE), Maxxi (Malaysia mobile), and Digi (Malaysia mobile).

Subscription and advertising revenues of GMA International, however, slightly dipped by 2 percent to P705 million from the previous year’s P719 million due to the appreciation of the Peso.

Meanwhile, GMA Worldwide, Inc., the Network’s content acquisition and distribution subsidiary, generated USD 318,300 in the third quarter as it sold over 50 locally produced programs and movies to various countries namely USA, Kenya, Tanzania, Singapore, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia, Brunei, and Myanmar.

GMA Records also successfully launched the self-titled album of Julie Anne San Jose reaching Gold status 3 weeks after its August 15 release. The album also clinched the number 1 spot on iTunes Philippines hours after its August 10 release, and entered the charts in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.

GMA managed its total operating expenses over the nine-month period to a low single-digit growth of only 4 percent or P258 million from same period last year. This is despite the increase in depreciation expense attuned with the roll-out of the state-of-the-art Media Asset Management System (MAMS) late last year as well as the launch of two multi-million originating stations in Ilocos and Naga middle of this year. Amortization of program rights likewise soared as a factor of programming mix. Aside from these, increased manpower headcount and payout of the one-time signing bonus for rank and file employees and appreciation bonus for confidential employees contributed to this year’s rise in total operating costs.

Nonetheless, given the spike in the topline, the Company’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) for the said period stood strongly at P3.040 billion, reaching a double-digit increase of 12 percent or P323 million year on year, while net income after tax settled at P1.587 billion or P7 million higher than last year.

GMA Network likewise maintained its overall advantage in NUTAM ratings in Q3 2012 with an average total day household audience share of 33.8 percent, ahead of ABS-CBN’s 32.6 percent average by 1.2 points, and TV5’s 15.1 percent by 18.7 points, according to Nielsen TV Audience Measurement data.

GMA remained unrivaled and led across all dayparts in the viewer-rich areas of Mega Manila and Urban Luzon, which account for 59.5 and 77 percent, respectively, of total urban television households in the entire country.

In Mega Manila, GMA garnered 38.7 percent in total day household audience shares, 12.2 points higher than ABS-CBN’s 26.5 percent and 23.5 points ahead of TV5’s 15.2 percent. Similarly, GMA continued to lead in Urban Luzon with an average of 37.7 percent up by 9.4 points from ABS-CBN’s 28.3 percent and by 23.2 points from TV5’s 14.5 percent.

GMA kept its lead in nationwide ratings in October (October 28 to 31 based on overnight data) with an average total day household audience share of 33.3 percent, higher by 0.2-point over ABS-CBN’s 33.1 and by 17.4 points over TV5’s 15.9 percent.

GMA likewise ruled in Mega Manila in the said month with 38.4 percent, 11.5 points ahead of ABS-CBN’s 26.9 points and 22.3 points ahead of TV5’s 16.1 percent. In Urban Luzon, GMA scored 37.4 percent, up 8.6 points from ABS-CBN’s 28.8 points and up 22.0 points from TV5’s 15.4 percent.

GMA subscribes to Nielsen TV Audience Measurement along with 22 other paying subscribers including another local major television network (TV5), Faulkner Media, CBN Asia, 15 advertising agencies, and 4 regional clients.

In Mega Manila, Nielsen has a sample size of 1,190 homes versus Kantar Media’s 770 homes. Nationwide, Nielsen has a sample size of 2,000 homes compared to the lower sample size of 1,370 utilized by Kantar Media.

Falling Skies Season 2 Returns on AXN

Falling Skies Season 2 Returns on AXN

The ancient Maya calendar predicted the end of the world to be in 2012. While this doomsday prophecy might not come true, executive producer Steven Spielberg and screenwriter Robert Rodat had the foresight to produce Falling Skies. The show breaks the mold of the usual alien invasion series we see on TV, simply by taking a fresh perspective – taking the drama to another dimension after the aliens have trampled and pillaged the planet Earth. Season 2 of US cable TV’s top new series of 2011 is set to unleash an extraterrestrial invasion of  apocalyptic proportions upon AXN viewers starting this November 14, 2012 at 10pm.

At the end of Season 1, history professor Tom Mason (Emmy- and Golden Globe-nominee Noah Wyle), took a leap of faith when he followed the alien invaders onto their ship; in the hopes that doing so would ensure the safety of his second son Ben (Connor Jessup, Blackbird), who had previously been captured and ‘harnessed’ by the aliens.

I think that in a lot of ways, we have a much stronger year. We’ve gotten into a lot of deeper character issue and a lot more interesting conflict,” shares Wyle.

Season 2 picks up three months after Tom’s disappearance. Without his  right- hand    man     Tom    by     his    side,    the commander  of  the  resistance  team  2nd

Mass,     Weaver     (Will     Patton, Armageddon), is having doubts about his war strategies against the aliens.  Tom’s eldest   son, Hal   (Drew   Roy, Hannah Montana), continues to lead the scouts, with his brother Ben on  the  team. While the rest of the group  harbor distrust of Ben after his return from the aliens, Hal vouches for his credibility. Yet, the gap between the two brothers drift wider as the new, physically enhanced Ben, now has difficulty bowing to Hal’s authority.

Tom’s return from the aliens sets the tone for the season – mistrust among the resistance team against Tom and his mysterious return, stirred by Pope (Colin Cunningham, Flashpoint) and his renegade group the Berserkers; Tom’s doubts about his own allegiance to 2nd  Mass’ mission,  having been the only survivor  to  return  from  the  mothership  unscathed;  and  worst  of  all,  disturbing,  tell-tale  signs  of  the ‘beamers’ (alien scouts) changing and upping the hunting game.

Through flashbacks, viewers get a glimpse into what Tom went through during those three months at the hands of the aliens. Back in the camp, Tom’s worst fears came to life when he suffers a sudden seizure, and Anne (Moon Bloodgood, Terminator Salvation: The Machinima Series), a former pediatrician who now doubles up as camp doctor, extracts a swimming metallic bug from his eye.

Even in an apocalyptic world, romance survives, as we see the sparks grow between Tom and Anne, and between Hal and plucky Margaret (Sarah Carter, The Vow). Also of note is guest star Terry O’ Quinn (Lost), who joins the cast as Tom’s former mentor, Professor Arthur Manchester.

A tale of endurance, commitment and courage in which ordinary people are called upon to become heroes, Falling Skies – with the off- and on-screen magic of Spielberg, Rodat, Wyle and  more – will unfold as a blockbuster saga of human’s last stand this November 14, only on AXN.
