Mom Suing Justin Bieber for Damaging Her Ear

Stacey Betts, a mom from Wilsonville, Oregon, reportedly sues Justin Bieber for $9.2 million after she claimed that the teen heartthrob's loud music and screaming fans at concert severely damaged her ear.

In the suit filed in U.S. District Court in Oregon on Tuesday, July 10, Betts said she took her daughter to Bieber's July 14, 2010 concert at the Rose Quarter in Portland, Oregon when she suffered severe hearing loss, tinnitus and hyperacusis – which is abnormally acute hearing — in both ears after the sounds during the said show exceeded safe decibel levels.

The courts papers claim the injury occurred when Bieber climbed into a heart-shaped gondola that pulled him over the crowd.

The complaint states: “Mr. Bieber created a wave like effect of screaming by pointing into various sections of the arena. Then enticed the crowd into a frenzy of screams by continuously waving his arms in a quick and upward motion, whereas I was struck with a sound blast.

Due to their negligance (sic) and my subsequent inability to protect myself, my quality of life has been permanently reduced in addition to the injury.”

The suit names Bieber, along with his record company, Island Def Jam Records; the concert promoter, AEG Worldwide; and the venue owner, Vulcan Sports Entertainment. Bieber and the co-defendants were “negligent” in failing to provide safe decibel levels, Betts’ complaint says.

Annabelle Rama Gone Wild in Dolphy's Wake, Attacks Reporter with a Mic Stand

Controversial showbiz star and talent manager Annabelle Rama once again find a new enemy in the person of showbiz reporter-columnist Chito Alcid.

In a live news report by Bandila on Friday, July 13, Boy Abunda, who is covering the wake of the late King of Comedy Dolphy at the Heritage Park in Taguig City, showed a video of Rama making a violent scene at the wake attacking Alcid with a mic stand while husband Eddie Gutierrez and starmaker German Moreno trying to stop and pull her away from the scene.

In an interview, Alcid said Rama is furious of her because of several articles he wrote about her in the past.

"Nagagalit sya sa akin dahil sa mga isinusulat ko tungkol sa kanya sa dyaryo at sa Facebook. Pero bakit dito pa sa burol ni Dolphy na di naman nya nirespeto." Alcid said in the interview.

Rama, meanwhile, expressed her sentiments on Alcid through her official Twitter account (@annabellerama2). To quote:

15) To Zsa Zsa and the Quizon family, I am so sorry for what had happened at the dining area of the Heritage. I was provoked by a fake reporter

Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler Resign from American Idol, To Be Replaced by Adam Lambert

Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler Resign from American Idol, To Be Replaced by Adam Lambert

After two season, Steven Tyler has officially leaves his seat as American Idol judge to concentrate once again on his first love - music.

''After some long ... hard ... thoughts ... I've decided it's time for me to let go of my mistress American Idol before she boils my rabbit.

''I strayed from my first love, Aerosmith, and I'm back — but instead of begging on my hands and knees, I've got two fists in the air and I'm kicking the door open with my band.''

''The next few years are going to be dedicated to kicking some serious ass — the ultimate in auditory takeover. On Nov. 6, we are unleashing our new album, Music from Another Dimension on the Earth, Moon, Mars, and way beyond the stars. 'Idol' was over-the-top fun, and I loved every minute of it... Now it's time to bring rock back.'' the Aerosmith singer said in a statement.

Meanwhile, during her guesting on the Today Show this morning to promote her new movie Ice Age: Continental Drift, Jennifer Lopez also expressed her plan to leave the show saying, “I’m thinking is time for me to leave American Idol.”

You know, I signed on to ‘American Idol’ to do one year, and … I wound up doing the two years. And now it’s like, ‘OK, do we continue on this journey?’ I’ve loved it so much. I enjoy the show so much. I enjoy just the whole process of the show and the whole thing. So it’s a tough decision either way. But I have to say that there are so many other things that I do, and that I put on hold for that. At the end of the day, whichever way, it’s a heartbreaking decision if I’m going to have to go.” she further said.

Recently, persistent rumors about American Idol 8th season runner-up Adam Lambert joining the show as judge surface. Is he the one to replace Steven Tyler? Do you like to see Adam seat as AI judge?

Tom Hardy is Bane, Batman’s Nemesis in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’

Tom Hardy is Bane, Batman’s Nemesis in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’

In Warner Bros.’ new action-thriller “The Dark Knight Rises” – the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy – the threat to Batman/Bruce Wayne comes in the form of a merciless, masked villain named Bane, who makes his presence known to the citizens of Gotham with an explosive display of power.

While the Scarecrow was a madman and the Joker an anarchist, “Bane is a terrorist in both his mentality and his actions,” says actor Tom Hardy, who plays Batman’s new arch-nemesis. “He is physically intimidating and he’s also very intelligent, which makes him even more dangerous.”

Nolan relates, “In deciding on who the next villain would be, it was imperative that it was someone completely different from the Joker - that he be a brute force. The physical component of what Bruce Wayne does as Batman is of extraordinary importance, and we had not truly challenged that in the first two films. I really wanted to see Batman meet his match physically, as well as intellectually. Bane is raw strength with a fanatical devotion to duty, and that combination makes him unstoppable.”

This is the first time it appears highly unlikely that Batman will come out on top in a physical altercation,” allows Christian Bale who plays the superhero. “He has been dormant for years, so he’s in a weakened condition to begin with, and Bane is not only incredibly strong but ruthless in terms of his sheer militancy and the ideology that drives him.”

Bane, however, has no such compunctions. Everything he does is a means to an end. Hardy attests, “Bane has come to do a job and has no feelings of remorse or shame about the death and destruction he’s causing. There is nothing ambiguous about Bane. He is clearly a villain…just a horrible piece of work.”

Bane is infamous among Batman comic fans for the terrible harm he inflicts on the Caped Crusader. Having recently worked with Hardy on “Inception,” Nolan knew he could project an extreme physical and psychological threat despite having to act from behind a mask. “When you’re creating a monstrous presence like Bane in a movie, you could concentrate just on the physical or you could focus on the more psychological aspects. With Tom, I knew I would get the whole package. He is such an incredible actor; he was able to depict this beast of a man who has exceptional fighting skills, but also able to convey the soul of someone who is damaged inside as well as out. Tom is the kind of actor who relished the challenge of having to generate an entire performance with most of his face covered up. What he is able to do with just his eyes is truly amazing.”

Hardy states that the mask was not a deterrent when given an opportunity to rejoin the director, especially on a Dark Knight film. “Chris called me up and said there was a role I might be good for, but he wasn’t sure I’d be interested because I’d have to wear a mask for several months. He wouldn’t tell me anything else about the character, except that he was a very bad guy. I said, ‘Let me get this straight: you want me to come and work with you, travel around the world, have a stunt team and all the weapons I could possibly want to play with, and all I have to do is wear a mask?’ He answered, ‘Yeah, pretty much…’ And I said, ‘I’m in!’”

Unlike Batman, Bane does not wear a mask to conceal his identity, but to anesthetize himself against excruciating pain, resulting from injuries he suffered long ago. Countering Nolan’s concerns, Hardy says, “I didn’t feel limited by the mask. What’s cool about it is, as soon as you put it on, you become the character.”

The actor adds that his portrayal of Bane entailed creating a contradiction between the voice and the body. “He is florid in his speech, but has the physicality of a gorilla. So while he is quite articulate, we also wanted to establish a very imposing presence.”

Opening across the Philippines on Thursday, July 19 in IMAX, 2D and regular theaters, “The Dark Knight Rises” is distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

During a set visit on Tweets for my Sweet, Marian admits that for now her schedule does not permit enrolling in a culinary school. She’s thankful that she is working with Chef Boy Logro who serves as her mentor in cooking.

Marian shares.

Meanwhile, Tito Panch (Chef Boy Logro), the younger brother of Meg and Adele’s dad will visit Same Same Café. He will tell them that he didn’t pursue his plans of going to Mexico because of an illegal employer.

Will Tito Panch be the answer to Meg’s question about her long lost mom?

Find out on Tweets for my Sweet every Sunday before 24 Oras Weekend on GMA.

The power tandem of Direk Chito and Ate Vi is back on the silverscreen after ten years since they made the “Dekada 70” in 2002. They also teamed up in 1998 via another serious drama “Bata, Bata, Paano Ka Ginawa?”

Gary Valenciano and Martin Nievera Had a Heated Argument in ‘The X Factor Philippines’

Tension heated up in the country’s biggest musical event of the year, “The X Factor Philippines” last Saturday, July 7, after judge-mentors Martin Nievera and Gary Valenciano got into a small debate whether to put through an auditionee or not.

After Allen Sta. Maria of Cabanatuan City performed her piece, Gary and fellow judge Charice instantly voted yes while Martin said no. Gary argued that the young girl has strong potential and her voice quality is current with what teenagers nowadays listen to but Martin remained unconvinced and thought that her performance fell short. In the end, Pilita Corrales casted the deciding vote and sided with Gary and Charice. Martin was dismayed and argued with the judges once more while Allen went backstage and rejoiced with her family. The task of spotting the ‘x factor’ is indeed getting tougher week by week. A single vote from the judge-mentors can make or break the chances of the country’s next singing superstar.

Don’t miss the country’s biggest and grandest musical event of the year, “The X Factor Philippines,” with KC Concepcion as host, every Saturday, after “MMK,” and every Sunday, after “Sarah G Live” on ABS-CBN. Comic-Con Death of 53 Year-old Twilight Fan, How Did it Happen?

Summit Entertainment was saddened after a 53-year-old Twilight fan who spent the last two days waiting in line for the Comic-Con panel was killed on Tuesday when she tried to cross the street to keep her place.

According to a report by the Associated Press, Gisela Gagliardi was trying to cross the street despite the red light on Tuesday morning to keep her place in the line of hundreds of Twilight fans at the Comic-Con in San Diego. The Twilight event is happening in Hall H of the San Diego Convention Center in California.

Unfortunately, she was hit by a passing Subaru Outback and tragically died in an instant.

Some witnesses said Garliardi tried to stop after she realized that the Subaru Outback was not slowing down. However, she tripped and the SUV ran into her. She was bleeding profusely.

It’s interesting to note that two years ago, a young man stabbed another with a pen while fighting for seats in the convention center’s Hall H. A few years prior, a beam collapsed in Hall H, injuring several fans including Collider.com editor-in-chief.

ABS-CBN's Statement on the Death of Dolphy

ABS-CBN mourns the passing of Rodolfo Vera Quizon, Sr., known to all as “Dolphy”, the one and only King of Filipino Comedy.

Remembered as John Puruntong, Kevin Cosme and Pidol among many other names, he remains the symbol of every Juan de la Cruz who loves his children and can make light of life’s trials.

From being a peanut and “butong pakwan” vendor in a movie house to becoming one of the country’s biggest stars, many knew that Dolphy stayed humble and approachable. That is why his life, not just his roles, has been an inspiration to millions.

Dolphy’s first starring TV role was in Buhay Artista produced by ABS-CBN in the 1960s. He became a close and true friend of ABS-CBN’s Chairman Emeritus Eugenio “Geny” Lopez Jr. He would later on become a Kapamilya for more than 40 years.

Today, everyone at ABS-CBN joins his family and the whole nation in remembering his great life and career. Most of his works were huge box office successes, many were award-winning and all are now immortal in the hearts of Filipinos.

We will miss “Tito Dolphy”, an idol, a friend, and already a legend even while he lived.

Hunger Games Finale 'Mockingjay' To Be Shown as 2-Part Movie

Hunger Games Finale 'Mockingjay' To Be Shown as 2-Part Movie

Lionsgate announced Tuesday, July 10, that the final installment of Suzanne Collins' best-selling series, "Mockingjay," will be split into two movies, with Part 1 to be released November 21, 2014, followed by Part 2 on November 20, 2015.

Talk of a two-part finale (reminiscent of the "Harry Potter" and "Twilight" approaches) began long before "The Hunger Games" ever bowed in theaters, though producer Nina Jacobson told MTV News during the film's red-carpet premiere that the split was far from a foregone conclusion and would be based on the first film's reception.

"Hopefully, people love this movie enough to demand the next one," she said. "Go make that one. Figure out what to do from there."

Audiences obviously embraced the dystopian tale of teenager Katniss Everdeen (played by Jennifer Lawrence) and her fight for survival against 23 other children in the titular televised death match; the movie has grossed more than $400 billion domestically. The question now is: How and where will the third novel be split?

Collins' "Mockingjay," released August 2010, follows heroine Katniss and her fellow District 12 victor Peeta Mellark (played by Josh Hutcherson) as they fight in an uprising to usurp the capricious Capitol and its head, President Snow.

Earlier this week, Lionsgate announced that Oscar-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman would join the cast as Head Gamemaker Plutarch Heavensbee, a pivotal role that appears in both "Catching Fire" and "Mockingjay." The series' second film, "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," is slated to begin production in the fall with new director Francis Lawrence at the helm. The movie will hit theaters November 23, 2013.

Gina Alajar Might Ruin Friendship with Roderick Paulate for Protégé

Gina Alajar Might Ruin Friendship with Roderick Paulate for Protégé

TV Director and Protégé mentor Gina Alajar is feeling nervous now that GMA’s competition for the big artista break, “Protégé” is about to begin – but not because of the competition per se, but because she will be competing with fellow mentor and long-time friend Roderick Paulate.

Gina and Roderick began in show business almost at the same time and since their first project, they have become “siblings” in the industry.

Roderick calls me Ate Oreng because yun yung character name ko dun sa unang movie na pinagsamahan namin, and I call him Bong. So dun palang makikita na natin na secret code namin yun diba, tapos ngayon nandito kami para mag-compete sa isa’t isa at para mag-mentor sa mga bagong mga mag-aartista,” said Gina.

In a separate interview with Roderick, the veteran actor and comedian said that when the role of being one of the mentors of the search was offered to him, he hesitated since he knew that mentoring is a challenging job plus the fact that he will be competing with his fellow veteran actors.

Mentoring is a difficult job. It’s so easy to be mentored pero yung magtuturo ka mas mahirap yun. You need to devote so much effort and time, mejo ninerbiyos ako ng konti pero natuwa rin ako kasi mga kaibigan ko sa industriya ang kasama ko sa pagme-mentor,” he said.

Gina and Roderick’s friendship began decades ago when both actors were yet child stars.

Si Roderick kasabayan kong mag-artista yan e — 5 years old siya, 8 years old naman ako tapos halos dito lang sa industriyang ito gumagalaw ang buhay namin,” Gina recalled.

Gina added that she’s anxious about the fact that anything could happen on the show and the mentors themselves might come into conflict with one another.

Only time could tell if Gina’s “predictions” are correct but one thing is for sure: it’s going to be a battle worth watching.

Protégé officially begins on July 23, Monday, with the daily, 30-minute update dubbed “Inside Protégé” which will be hosted by Jennylyn Mercado and aired on GMA-7’s primetime block.

The first gala night will be on August 5, Sunday, which will be held at Studio 7 of the GMA Network Studios and hosted by Dingdong Dantes and Carla Abellana.

Apart from the mentors, four judges will also give their critiques of each protégé’s performance during the weekly gala. The judges are Joey de Leon, Director Bert de Leon, Cherie Gil and GMA top honcho Anna Teresa Gozon-Abrogar.

Erik Santos to Stage ‘Greatest Theme Songs’ Concert

Prince of Pop Erik Santos stands out among his contemporaries because of his ability to convey a whole array of emotions through his songs, making him the most sought-after interpreter of theme songs.

He has breathed life to around 30 movie and TV themes– May Bukas Pa, Now That I Have You, Miss You Like Crazy, If You Asked Me To, Lupa, It Might Be You, Maging Sino Ka Man, Say You’ll Never Go, I’ll Never Go, among others. This is a feat achieved only by the Prince of Pop, who seems to be John Lloyd Cruz’s lucky charm because most of his hit movies had Erik as the singer of the theme. And with such achievements he has become the most requested interpreter of Teleserye and movie theme songs.

Erik, aside from being a prolific singer, is also an accomplished concert performer with numerous hit concerts to his name. He had sold-out concerts at the Music Museum, Meralco Theater, Aliw Theater, and Araneta Coliseum.

This August 30 and 31 at the Meralco Theater, Erik highlights his love of singing theme songs and performing via the major concert The Greatest Theme Songs. In the concert, experience the power of Erik’s voice as he celebrates the magic of cinema and music through impressive production numbers and sincere singing.

I am excited with the concept of this concert,” says Erik. “I have always been fascinated by great Theme Songs, be it movies, theater or teleseryes, so I am really happy that I was given this project.

The concert will feature, aside from Erik’s live performance of his previously-recorded theme songs, the Prince of Pop’s favorite songs lifted from the big and small screens.

It will be a night of good music and memorable moments,” adds Erik. “It will be a trip down memory lane, but I assure you, everything you’ll see onstage will be somewhat new. It is an exciting show.” Joining him in the concert are all female Classical Crossover Pop Trio Opera Belles and OPM legendary Icons Basil Valdez, Vina Morales and Gary Valenciano.

As a recording artist, Erik still remains to be one of the most bankable singers of his generation winning the 2012 Tambayan 101.9 Song of the Year award for his single Kulang Ako Kung Wala Ka, part of his latest album Awit Para Sa’yo.

This event is presented by Qualibet and Record Breaker Events in cooperation with Zenea Slimming and Body Sculpting and a production of Cornerstone Concerts. For tickets to The Greatest Theme Songs, please call SM Tickets at 470-2222 and Ticketworld at 891-9999.
