However, Sarah clarifies that "Won’t Last A Day Without You" is not a sequel to "Catch Me…I’m In Love."

It has a different story. May mga konting similarities.” she explained.

In the movie, Sarah plays the role of Heidee, a disc jockey (DJ) who brushes away her feelings towards Andrew (Gerald) because of so many heartbreaks she experienced in the past.

Mariah Yeater Still Claims Justin Bieber Impregnated Her

Mariah Yeater granted the U.S. news magazine show The Insider an interview where she once again push her claims that Justin Bieber is the father of her child.

In her interview, Yeater says she has evidence that Bieber impregnated her in October 2010 during a 30-second sexual encounter inside a restroom after the young popstar's performance at the Los Angeles Staples Center.

In her interview Yeater stated:

I have provided evidence to my attorneys and it will show in court to prove that my allegations are true. He immediately took a liking to me. We got to talking…and then…he asked me would you mind if we could go somewhere and be alone? He went from cute and gushy to more aggressive.”

However, Bieber, who had a paternity test on November 18 to disprove Yeater's claim that he is the father of her four-month-old son, still pledge his innocence on this allegations and calls Yeater “crazy.”

Former President and now Pampanga Congresswoman Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has been served a warrant of arrest at her hospital bed in St. Luke’s Medical Center in Taguig City on Saturday, November 19 at around 3:30 p.m., for electoral sabotage, which carries a life sentence.

Her husband, former first gentleman Jose Miguel “Mike” Arroyo, several family members and friends of the Arroyos were in the room during the Congresswoman's fingerprints and mugshots booking procedure.

The booking was facilitated by Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit Senior Superintendent Joel Coronel who said that Arroyo's documents will be sent to Camp Crame in Quezon City for processing. He also said the mugshots will be released on the court's discretion.

"She's now under hospital arrest," Coronel added.

Arrest warrants were also served to Andal Sr. and former election officer Lintang Bedol.

On Friday, the Commission on Elections filed electoral sabotage charges at the Pasay City regional trial court against Arroyo, former Maguindanao Gov. Andal Ampatuan Sr., and former election supervisor Lintang Bedol for the alleged massive cheating in the Maguindanao polls in 2007.

Based on Republic Act No. 6646, electoral sabotage constitutes altering of votes during an election, tampering numbers on "large scale or in substantial numbers."

The Super 12 kiddie cooks of the “Junior MasterChef Pinoy Edition” were introduced to the public last Wednesday, November 16, via a “Meet and Eat” event where they also prepared dishes for the entertainment press.

Acee, Bianca, Caitlin, Emman, Iain, Jobim, Kyle, Mika, Miko, Patrick, Philip, and Tricia worked expertly around the Treston International College kitchen while preparing appetizers and desserts such as prawn bruschetta, fried shrimp and squid triangles, floating island with vanilla sauce, and poached pear and cream cheese cups.

The kiddie cooks were also thrilled to mingle and answer questions from the press in a press conference with host Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo and the three chef-judges Chef Ferns, Chef Lau, and Chef Jayps.

Judging the kids’ creations will even get more difficult for Judy Ann, who said that the kids have acquired skills which they will apply in the upcoming cook-offs.

The challenges will get tougher and the competition stiffer. They have become so skillful with all the techniques they learned in the program,” she said.

The Super 12’s cooking showdown kicks off this Saturday, November 19, as they conceive wow-worthy recipes made with shellfish in another Invention Test.

"Emotional People’s Needs Will Shape Future of Media. - Gabby Lopez

"Emotional People’s Needs Will Shape Future of Media. - Gabby Lopez

ABS-CBN chairman and CEO Eugenio Lopez III yesterday said the future of media is unknown, but assured that ABS-CBN will remain true to its motto of being “in the service of the Filipino.

I believe it is an honor and privilege to work for a company that puts public service at its center. For me, working at ABS-CBN is not a job. It is a calling,” said Lopez at the closing of his speech at the 22nd Philippine Ad Congress session on the “Future of TV, Future of Media.”

In his speech, Lopez said technology can change the way people consume media but not the human nature to crave for recognition, affirmation, connection, and the inspiration to be the best that they can be.

The future of media would be shaped by people’s needs which at its core is emotional,” he said.

As an example, Lopez said ABS-CBN’s teleseryes can now reach every Filipino in the world via cable, satellite, and Internet protocol TV and even catch up on missed episodes via iWanTV, but it is ABS-CBN’s content that truly lifts the spirits that reflect the people’s joys, pains, values, passions, and dreams.

We all have relatives abroad. Maybe many of them have told you how Filipino dramas on TFC soothe away the pain of hard work and isolation in strange lands,” he said.

Lopez said the huge investments that the company made in technologies would not have succeeded if Filipinos were not burning with patriotism and yearning for redemption.

He cited various examples such as the Pinoy Big Brother being a phenomenal TV hit and the first local TV program to have 26 cameras rolling 24/7 and live streaming on cable TV; Imortal as the country’s first webisodes of a TV series; Boto Mo i-Patrol Mo as the first citizen’s election vigilance campaign using technology; and TFC to be the first to hold a Global Townhall with President Benigno Aquino III in North America.

At present, Lopez said the company is currently in test broadcast for Digital Terrestial Television or DTT that will give clear digital signals and additional channels to people who can’t afford pay TV.

We will invest in enabling technologies, but we will continue leveraging our ability to connect to the emotion,” he said. “In this age of gadgets, we believe that the right buttons to press are those in the hearts of the people.

Lopez said that in the next ad congress, delegates will be talking about media revolutions caused by technologies that are not even viable today, but assured that ABS-CBN will remain “in the service of the Filipino.”

Over many years, we were able to maintain a meaningful relationship with the Filipino audience, being the media company that connects our countrymen all over the globe through all kinds of media platforms,” he said.

Lopez, who leads the country’s largest multimedia conglomerate that is turning 60 next year, told the Ad Congress delegates that he has been in the media business over 25 years and that is all he ever wanted to do.

That is all I am ever going to do. I feel like that NBA player who marvels at getting paid for something he would do for free,” said Lopez, who was applauded by the attending delegates.

Lopez was one of the three media network chairmen who spoke about the future of the media. ABS-CBN anchor Korina Sanchez also appeared in the session, moderating the question and answer portion with the chairman of another network.

Manny V. Pangilinan’s Speech Well Applauded at the 22nd Philippine Ad Congress

Manny V. Pangilinan’s Speech Well Applauded at the 22nd Philippine Ad Congress

TV5 Chairman Manny V. Pangilinan (MVP) gave a lively “rockstar” speech at the 22nd Philippine Advertising Congress, which was highlighted by the historic moment of having the three chairmen of the country’s three leading networks on the same stage at the same time.

The presence of the three network chiefs onstage was the event’s showstopper as the delegates hastened to capture the rare moment on camera, but it was the speech given by MVP that drew the most applause and cheers from the enthusiastic audience. With “Change the Game” as the AdCon22 battlecry, MVP was able to expound on the event’s theme by sharing the game-changing innovations being ushered by his multimedia conglomerate (which includes TV5, PLDT, Smart, Cignal Digital Cable, among others) - and he did so in a very candid and engaging manner, to the delight of the audience.

MVP’s speech centered on the three key messages of consumer empowerment, the empowerment of content generators, and how advertising “could adjust to the realities of future media as you see it”.

The Twitterverse was also very much alive with tweets from impressed delegates and viewers (those who watched the event’s TV and online coverage) during MVP’s speech. As the TV5 chairman talked about the impending “digital tsunami” and how he wants to greet it with “d2 na me”, eager tweeters couldn’t help but be amazed at how such a genius could be so “humble and innovative”.

Twitter user @veg2go commented “Kudos to the Big 3 for inspiring us but personally dig MVP’s. Candid and straight jabs. #AdCon22 #MVP” while @iamrainramos said “I love MVP and the way he answers the questions thrown by his colleagues. TV5 should be proud. They’re in good hands. #AdCon22”.

Clearly, MVP was able to connect with the young generation as he gave an example of how a typical youth today would rely so much on digital technology and the Internet in his day-to-day life. He gave a highly informative and enlightening speech, and it made it all the more evident why all businesses he handles eventually become No.1.

GMA Network Stays In Tune with the Beat of Technology Drum

GMA Network Stays In Tune with the Beat of Technology Drum

Today’s leading Philippine multimedia conglomerate GMA Network, Inc. (GMA) stays in tune with the beat of the technology drum.

This is according to GMA Chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe L. Gozon in his address on the “The Future of Television” delivered to around 4,000 participants at the 22nd Philippine Advertising Congress held at the CamSur Watersports Complex (CWC) in Camarines Sur.

Gozon said that television giant GMA has gone to great lengths to intermarry new and traditional media in its broadcast operations. Beyond sign-off schedule, GMA had found means to hook up with its audience. The connection is now 24/7.

He explained, “the new mission of media in the digital age is to engage viewers and make them active participants.” For instance, GMA’s online citizen journalism YouScoop has helped the Network deliver the news “as it happens, when it happens.”

But amid heightened subscription to evolving media such as digital and mobile, Gozon said that “television will still be the medium to beat for many years to come.” He said that television, the most pervasive and most ubiquitous of all media, is critical in people empowerment through information.

With television consumption rate in the Philippines increasing from 97% in 2007 to 98% in 2011 according to global media research company Synovate, television remains the most effective platform to deliver news and entertainment. In fact, it is the cheapest form of entertainment for 94% of households in the country.

Gozon emphasized that television’s continued success is driven by quality content – a non-negotiable in the television business and the key dimension that defines the daily drill in the Kapuso Network.

Guided by the mantra of delivering only quality program content and unrelenting Serbisyong Totoo, GMA raised the bar of programming with trailblazing programs such as Amaya, Munting Heredera and flagship newscast 24 Oras, among others, on primetime.

The self-imposed standard of delivering quality content also resulted into another alternative local all-news channel from GMA – GMA News TV (GNTV), now the number one news channel in the country.

Gozon said that GMA will continue to reinvent television, and turn the challenges stemming from digitization into opportunities. He said that GMA will “continue to harness new technologies not only to keep consumers watching the GMA programs, but have them stay through commercials in between.”

Gozon is credited with steering GMA towards being the number one television station in the country today in both ratings and profits and is consistently listed as among BizNews Asia’s Power 100 from 2003 to 2010. Last year, he earned the distinction of being the only Filipino to be selected as a member of the Advisory Board for the Asian Television Awards.

Manny Pacquiao Loses His Pound-for-Pound Title to Floyd Mayweather, Jr.

Manny Pacquiao Loses His Pound-for-Pound Title to Floyd Mayweather, Jr.

Manny Pacquiao lost his pound-for-pound title to Floyd Mayweather, Jr. in the recent rankings released by two sports media outfits - ESPN and Sports Illustrated.

As posted in their websites on November 14 and November 17, Pacquiao has dropped to 2nd place while Floyd Mayweather, Jr. moved up to top place.

The recent movement in the rankings was brought about by Pacquiao's latest fight with Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez on November 13. As ESPN's Dan Rafael noted:

Pacquiao looked confused at times and lacked snap on his punches in a less-than-stellar outing. It just wasn't the kind of performance we have come to expect from Pacquiao, especially in light of the fact that Marquez had been wiped out by Mayweather in 2009 in his only other welterweight fight."

Meanwhile, Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix wrote:

The inconclusive outcome undercut [Manny's] standing in's pound-for-pound ratings.

Bob Arum says a fourth Marquez fight should (and could) be next, but most fans would rather see a showdown between the fighters who rank 1-2 [Floyd Mayweather, Jr. - Manny Pacquiao) on virtually every pound-for-pound list."

However, The Ring Magazine Pound for Pound list known as the official list of the current pound for pound professional boxing rankings, has still Manny Pacquiao at no. 1.

Here’s the Top 10 rankings according to The Ring:

1. Manny Pacquiao 54-3-2 (38 KO) Welterweight
WBO Welterweight Champion, WBO Super Champion,
WBC Emeritus Champion, WBC Diamond Champion

2. Floyd Mayweather, Jr. 42-0 (26 KO) Welterweight
WBC Welterweight Champion, WBC Emeritus Champion

3. Sergio Gabriel Martínez 48-2-2 (27 KO) Middleweight
The Ring Middleweight Champion, WBC Diamond Champion

4. Nonito Donaire 27-1 (18 KO) Bantamweight
WBO Bantamweight Champion

5. Juan Manuel Márquez 53-6-1 (39 KO) Lightweight
Unified WBA and Super WBO Lightweight Champion, The Ring Lightweight Champion

6. Wladimir Klitschko 56-3 (49 KO) Heavyweight

The “Pound for pound” rankings were developed by boxing writers during the era of Sugar Ray Robinson to rank the world’s greatest fighters irrespective of their weight division.

The nature of these rankings is subjective and raises an interesting question: How do you compensate for differences in size, power and historical time periods when evaluating boxers?

Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher End Their Marriage

Demi Moore has split from Ashton Kutcher.

The 49-year-old actress - who has three daughters with first husband Bruce Willis - says it is "with great sadness and a heavy heart" she has decided to end her six-year marriage to the Two and a Half Men actor, who was accused of cheating on her in September.

Demi said in a statement: "It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton.

"As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life.
"This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation."

Demi and Ashton's marriage was rocked when 22-year-old Sara Leal claimed that the actor had sex with her at a San Diego hotel room in September.

Neither of them commented on Sara's allegations directly and were believed to be trying to resolve the problems in their relationship before Demi made her announcement on November 17.

Ashton, on the other hand, has admitted being wed is "difficult" and paid tribute to his spouse.

He tweeted: "I will forever cherish the time I spend with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail. Love and light, AK."

Claudine Barretto and Dennis Trillo, Together Again

Dramatic actors Claudine Barretto and Dennis Trillo seem to have enjoyed their previous stint in GMA-7’s “Spooky Nights”. This Saturday, November 19, they return to the show for its next hardcore horror feature titled “Kalaro”.

With Munting Heredera child stars Mona Louise Rey and Migs Cuaderno, “Kalaro” presents a story about a father who wants to win the approval of his son after his marriage breaks up. Further complicating things between them are two ghosts wanting to take them to the after life by causing their death.

While his wife is on a vacation abroad, Chris (Dennis) finally has a chance to bond with his son, Clark (Migs). However, it seems that only Chris enjoys their current setup because the boy hates him and his new home – a unit on the sixth floor of a strange condominium.

Clark is bored because, aside from the fact that he is staying with his dad, there seems to be no other kids on the sixth floor. Thus, he gets excited and happy when he meets Ena (Mona), a girl who lives in the unit beside theirs. Instantly, the two kids become playmates.

Meanwhile, Chris started experiencing weird things in his condo unit ever since he met Ena’s mother, Lara (Claudine). He has also been seeing horrifying visions – like Clark becoming a corpse and the water in the bathtub turns to blood.

Await this scary and heartbreaking story presented by Director Uro Q. Dela Cruz and Headwriter Senedy Que.

Catch “Spooky Nights Presents: Kalaro” this Saturday, November 19, after Manny Many Prizes on GMA-7.

Pinoy Big Brother House Update: 3Gs and Power Strangers Enter PBB House

Big Brother brought in a new batch of six potential housemates – the sultry 3G’s into the “looban” for “PBB UnliNight” and the wacky Power Strangers into the industrial house for “PBB UnliDay.”

For their first task, the 3G’s composed of Pretty Miss Perfect, Sexy Single Mommy, and Independent Woman should charm their way into being official housemates.

To help them succeed, Kuya assigned Slater, the first housemate to be nominated for eviction, to convince his fellow male housemates to accept the 3G’s as official housemates and in exchange, choose one current female housemate to be evicted.

Will Slater finally succeed in this new challenge or back out and face forced eviction?

The “PBB UnliDay” housemates will also welcome this week the Power Strangers namely Astiging Kengkoy, Pilyong Rakitero, and Poging Petics. What will their special tasks be?

Meanwhile, four “PBB UnliDay” housemates faced punishment for violating some of the PBB house rules.

Seiichi was forced to communicate with his housemates using a puppet for failing to use his lapel microphone at one instance, while Pamu was made to strap herself onto a gurney due to oversleeping and ignoring three wake-up calls.

For using hand signals, Unad and Lordwin were required to wear two jackets conjoined back-to-back.

Watch “Pinoy Big Brother UnliNight” with Toni Gonzaga weeknights after “My Binondo Girl” in Primetime Bida and “Pinoy Big Brother UnliDay” with Bianca Gonzalez weekdays before “Reputasyon” in Kapamilya Gold. Also stay tuned to “PBB Unlimited Updates” with Robi Domingo during “Kapamilya Blockbusters” and “100 Days to Heaven” on ABS-CBN.

Kardashian Boycott Launched To Remove Kardashian on Television

It seems Kim Kardashian's move to divorce Kris Humphries not only sent the media buzzing but also caused some people to become fed up with the family's public exploits.

A petition has been launched online calling for the E! Entertainment network, which airs "Keep Up With The Kardashians" and other shows based on the close clan, to be removed from the airwaves.

"In a grass roots effort, we have collected [thousands of] signatures for a petition asking E! Entertainment to remove the Kardashian suite of shows from their programming," petition organizer Cyndy Snider said in a statement to Yahoo! "We feel that these shows are mostly staged and place an emphasis on vanity, greed, promiscuity, vulgarity and over-the-top conspicuous consumption."

The petition, called "No More Kardashian" is available on and at press time has over 75,000 signatures. There's also a Facebook page dedicated to the cause with over 44,000 fans at the time of this writing.

"'Keeping up with the Kardashians' is just not viewing that we the public, would like to see from your network. Enough is enough," the preamble to the petition states.

‘PS I Love You’ Returns as TV5 Primetime Dramaserye

Posted by JED on , under | comments (1)

The love story that charmed fans in the ‘80s returns not on the silverscreen but on TV.

PS I Love You, the movie that further pinned Gabby Concepcion and Sharon Cuneta to stardom, is given new life as it premieres as TV5’s newest primetime dramaserye on November 21.

TV5’s PS I Love You is a sequel to the original ‘80s movie. Mark (Gabby Concepcion) and Kristine (now portrayed by Dina Bonnevie) didn’t have a happy ending to their love story after all, and they now live separate lives with families of their own. What they thought was their greatest love was left behind. But as fate would have it, their paths would cross again and the memories they wish to bury resurface.

The dramaserye takes off from Mark and Kristine’s supposed wedding day, where the latter doesn’t show up. Mark finds out later that Kristine accepted the marriage proposal of a wealthy businessman.

Mark tries to move on from his sad fate and works his way to become a billionaire investment banker. Kristine, on the other hand, is happily married with two kids, but her picture-perfect life crumbles upon the death of her husband. As their businesses dwindle and their family stands on the brink of bankruptcy, Kristine’s daughter Andrea (Alex Gonzaga) steps up to save their remaining livelihood. Despite the tremendous responsibility she has to bear for her family, she derives motivation and inspiration from Jason (Kean Cipriano), a struggling musician who loves her with all his heart.

Upon the advice of their relatives, Andrea decides to sell their company to an investor who would be interested in resuscitating the business. Unknown to Andrea, the man interested in buying their company is Mark, an old flame of her mother and her one great love.

This starts another chapter in the lives of Mark and Kristine. As love blossoms between their children – Mark’s son Paul (AJ Muhlach) and Kristine’s other daughter Candice (Nadine Lustre) – they move heaven and earth to keep them apart. However, Paul and Candice struggle to fight for the love despite all odds.

Completing the cast of PS I Love You are Candy Pangilinan, Cheska Inigo, Michael Flores, Say Alonzo, Jaycee Parker, Melissa Mendez, Nikki Bacolod, Al Chris Galura, Sarah Polvereni and Cogie Domingo, with the special participation of Lloyd Samartino.

Directed by Robert Quebral and Elaine Lozano, PS I Love You is co-produced by TV5 and Viva TV. It airs Monday to Friday after Glamorosa starting November 21 on TV5.

UST Releases Statement on the Anne Curtis vs GMA-7 Staff USTv Incident

After Kapamilya actress Anne Curtis expressed her sentiments on Twitter (read related news HERE) and the official statements released by both ABS-CBN (read HERE) and GMA-7 (read HERE) related to the USTv incidents where Anne was allegedly prevented by GMA-7 staff to perform or even greeted the Thomasians during the 2011 USTv Awards Kick-off party due to schedule issue, organizers of the USTv Students’ Choice Awards finally released a statement clarifying the conflict in the performance schedules between Anne Curtis and the Kapuso stars.

Here is the official statement sent by the Office of the Secretary General of the University of Santo Tomas (UST):

The University of Santo Tomas, together with all its students, deeply appreciate the enthusiastic participation of the television networks during the 8th USTv Students’ Choice Awards Kick Off Party held on 10 November 2011 at the Plaza Mayor of the university. We especially thank the celebrities from different television networks who generously took time out of their hectic schedules to join the Kick Off Party.

The event featured a program with a pre-determined sequence aimed at giving all the celebrities in attendance ample time to meet or to perform before the Thomasian audience. Since the TV networks normally cannot declare the exact number of talents who would be able to come, last minute adjustments were inevitable, subject, however, to mutual agreement of the concerned parties.

We regret any misunderstanding or confusion that may have occurred unintentionally and caused inconvenience to some. We pray and hope that all parties can move on and continue with our common commitment of promoting positive values in the mass media. After all, it is for this that the USTv Students’ Choice Awards came into being.

James McAvoy is Voice of Santa Claus' Son in “Arthur Christmas”

Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

Santa’s my dad!,” exclaims British actor James McAvoy who provides the voice to the title role of Arthur, Santa Claus' youngest son, in Sony Pictures Animation Studios' new, 3D family comedy “Arthur Christmas.”

Arthur believes in Christmas, and not just because he’s been born into the family business,” says McAvoy. “He believes it in his soul – there’s nobody else in the world who cares about Christmas more than Arthur.”

“Arthur Christmas” at last reveals the incredible, never-before-seen answer to every child's question: “So how does Santa deliver all those presents in one night?” The answer: Santa's exhilarating, ultra-high-tech operation hidden beneath the North Pole. But at the heart of the film is a story with the ingredients of a Christmas classic – a family in a state of comic dysfunction and an unlikely hero: Santa’s youngest son, Arthur. When this amazing operation misses one child out of hundreds of millions, the least capable Claus embarks on a hilarious, exciting rogue mission against the clock to deliver the last present before Christmas morning dawns.

Despite living in a world devoted year-round to the business of Christmas, Arthur LOVES everything to do with the season. He is especially passionate about what Santa – who he adores as both dad and figurehead – means to children, whose identities sometimes get lost in the huge logistics of the operation. Trouble is, in the ultra-efficient, high-tech delivery operation of Christmas, Santa’s youngest son is a spare part. Allergic to snow and suffering from a fear of heights, reindeer, and high-speed travel, Arthur isn’t exactly a natural Claus. The family loves him – but has never quite known what to do with him. And although Arthur’s office in the Letters Department is a chaotic mess of snow globes and pictures of Santa, it’s a magical little corner where Arthur alone revels in the joy of it all.

Arthur reads every single letter that comes to the North Pole, because he believes that every child deserves to receive a present at Christmastime,” says McAvoy. “You know, he’s relegated to the mailroom, because he’s caused a lot of accidents at the North Pole, but it’s just perfect for him – he gets to read these letters about the importance and the essence of Christmas, every second of every day.”

Arthur cannot bear the idea of a kid waking up on Christmas morning and finding out that Santa didn’t come,” says co-screenwriter Sarah Smith. “Arthur sees the world through that kid’s eyes – it would be the end of the world.”

Arthur is a fanboy and a workhorse for Christmas,” McAvoy continues. “He wouldn’t want to do anything else – he lives for Christmas. It’s exciting to play somebody that fulfilled because you get to keep increasing the energy, as the character tries to maintain that fulfillment.”

The movie is really funny and very clever,” McAvoy concludes. “It’s ingenious, inventive, irreverent, different, and funny – I suppose that’s what drew all of us to do it.”

Opening across the Philippines in December, “Arthur Christmas” is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International. Visit to see the latest trailers, get free downloads and play free movie games.

Sneak Peek: “Jack and Jill ”

Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

Columbia Pictures presents the new comedy “Jack and Jill” starring Adam Sandler, Katie Holmes and Al Pacino.

In the film, Jack (Sandler) was living an almost perfect life, with the exception of one, annoying constant - his twin sister Jill (also played by Sandler). Every year he has to tolerate a Thanksgiving visit from his smothering sister, who doesn’t take long to turn his life upside down. As the weekend intrusion starts stretching into a month, the siblings fight, tease, and bicker in the way only twins can. When it becomes clear Jill is never leaving, Jack sets into motion several schemes that he hopes will return Jill to where he loves her most – the other side of the country.
Director Dennis Dugan re-teams with Sandler for the eighth time on “Jack and Jill.” “What I found interesting was that somewhere partway through the production I thought of Adam as playing Jack, but I thought of Jill as if she were her own person. Adam didn’t walk around off-camera acting like Jill, but after a while, it was as if Jill was a woman we hired who happened to look remarkably like Adam!

Opening soon across the Philippines, “Jack and Jill” is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International. Visit for trailers, exclusive content and free downloads. Like us at and join our fan contests.

Get Into the Circle of Life of “The Lion King 3D”

Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

Set against the breathtaking natural beauty, mysticism and diversity of the African landscape, captured and stylized by a team of top artistic talents, Disney’s 32nd full-length animated film “The Lion King” is a uniquely entertaining coming-of-age allegory based on an original story that has since joined the ranks of classic fairy tales and literary favorites. And now, the popular classic is in 3D for the first time ever.

‘The Lion King’ is essentially a love story between a father and son,” says producer Don Hahn. “It’s about that moment in life when you realize that your father is going to pass on to you his wisdom and knowledge. The Circle of Life. Someday we all become adults. The baton will be passed on to us and we’re going to have to grow up.”

An original story, breathtaking animation, beloved characters and award-winning music set the stage for “The Lion King,” a Disney classic that follows the adventures of Simba, the feisty lion cub who “just can’t wait to be king.” But his envious Uncle Scar has plans for his own ascent to the throne, and he forces Simba’s exile from the kingdom. Alone and adrift, Simba soon joins the escapades of a hilarious meerkat named Timon and his warmhearted warthog pal, Pumbaa.

Adopting their carefree lifestyle of “Hakuna Matata,” Simba ignores his real responsibilities until he realizes his destiny and returns to the Pride Lands to claim his place in the Circle of Life. The all-star vocal talents - including Matthew Broderick, Nathan Lane, Whoopi Goldberg, James Earl Jones, Jeremy Irons, Ernie Sabella, Jonathan Taylor Thomas, Robert Guillaume, Cheech Marin and Moira Kelly - plus the rip-roaring comedy and uplifting messages of courage, loyalty and hope make this a timeless tale for all ages.

According to co-director Roger Allers, “The real heart and emotional underpinning of the whole story is the father-son relationship. At one point in the film, Simba steps into his father’s paw print and we see this image of his little paw in an enormous print. It is very symbolic. When his father is taken away from him too soon, he feels unworthy and inadequate. My favorite part of the film is when his father returns in ghost form and tells him that his spirit lives on in his son.”

Co-director Rob Minkoff adds: “We set out to do something very different from the things that had been done before. ‘Aladdin,’ ‘Beauty and the Beast’ and ‘The Little Mermaid’ were all basically love stories, and this one is more about the relationship between a father and a son. It is just as crucial and interesting in its own way, but a real different subject and a change of pace from other Disney films.”

Recalls actor Nathan Lane, who provides the voice of Timon, “They showed us two clips from the movie and I thought to myself, ‘Well, not only is this good, there’s something very special about this.’ Obviously, there’s something in [the film] that touches people - it’s why it was hugely successful and why it stays with people. [The filmmakers] worked for a long time to get the story right and that’s why these films work and why they’re considered classics.”

Matthew Broderick (voice of Simba) remembers the first time he saw the film with an audience. “There’s nothing like sitting with a real audience,” he says. “I thought, ‘Wow, these children will take their children [someday].’ I could tell I was part of ‘Snow White.’ It felt like we were part of those movies that seem to live years and years through generations.”

Opening across the Philippines in December 2011, “The Lion King 3D” is distributed locally by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International through Columbia Pictures.
