Kate Middleton Talks About Married Life, Her Sister Pippa Dating Her Bro-in-Law Prince Harry and Tips on How to Achieve Her Killer Abs

Posted by JED on Saturday, June 11, 2011 , under | comments (6)

Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, who married Prince William in April, speaks of her wonderful happiness at being married to the Duke of Cambridge during the Ark's 10th anniversary party where the couple was guests of honor.

Kate told other guests that she was having a fantastic time as a new royal since their wedding in April.

One of the guests told The Mirror: "Kate said she was 'loving it'" when asked what married life was like. She added that it was surreal sometimes but that's to be expected.

"She said she was totally and blissfully happy and her eyes lit up whenever William's name was mentioned. The pair are clearly so in love."

Meanwhile, Kate's sister Pippa Middleton is said to be dating her brother-in-law Prince Harry.

Their admiration to each other, according to reports, started during the Royal Wedding. The two were spotted dating last week in London.

But wouldn't it be a betrayal of trust since Prince Harry is not just a brother of her sister's husband but also an ex-boyfriend of Pippa's bestfriend Chelsy Davy?

Still on Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge was voted by women as having the most sought-after abs in Us Weekly and Gold's Gym's 2nd Annual Hollywood's Hottest Bodies Awards

So for those looking to sculpt a stomach like Kate's, Gold's Gym Celebrity Trainer Adam Friedman has given Us Weekly the must-know exercise and nutrition tips to get started.

"Be prepared to put in a lot of time and hard work," Friedman stresses. "It's been reported that Kate Middleton not only loves sports but also has an athletic background, and it's taken her years to build the muscular foundation to have a fast metabolism"

Here are Friedman's five tips for getting Kate's lean physique, that might even score you a prince of your own!

1. Eat to Release Stored Body Fat

"Underneath a layer of belly fat lies a potentially toned mid-section for everyone," says Friedman. The first step to shedding that layer is to stabilize your blood sugar by following these three guidelines:

A. Eat the correct ratio of protein, carbohydrates, and fat in each and every meal: 35-40 percent, 20-30 percent, and 25-35 percent, respectively. Those three nutrients all work together in digestion to provide steady nutrient absorption to stabilize blood glucose.

B. Eat the correct number of calories each meal. Having too little leads to a deprivation of nutrients while too many leads to sugar spikes and releases of insulin. The amount of calories per meal or snack for the average active male is around 400 calories; 250 for females.

C. Eat around every three-to-four hours. This will supply a steady stream of nutrients to the body throughout the day in order to maintain your blood glucose levels. If you're one to wait too long to eat in between meals, have a snack to ward off low blood sugar.

2. Eat High Quality (Non-processed) Foods

The better the food, the better the body is at digesting and absorbing nutrients for energy. Otherwise, the body uses up valuable energy to break down processed foods. "And keep in mind that any calories that aren't nutrient-rich get easily converted into sugar, which then get converted into fat," says Friedman.

3. Hit the Weights

Building strength and power supports the growth of lean muscle, which will increase your metabolism. "One pound of muscle burns three times as many calories as one pound of fat during rest, and as much as 25 times as much during exercise," says Friedman. "This can significantly impact the results for your waistline over time." He recommends lifting weights at a moderate to high intensity three to four times each week to see a boost in metabolism.

4. Build a Strong Core

The core consists of all the muscles from the top of your thigh to the bottom of your rib cage. "These muscles provide stability in our spine and pelvis and also generate power in much of our movement," says Friedman. "During your abdominal work, make sure to engage them by drawing them in rather then pushing them out, and keep them tense during physicial activity."

For a core-specific workout, Friedman recommends taking Pilates or Yoga classes, or using a Stability Ball three to four times a week for 15 minutes.

5. Interval Training

Performing short bursts of high intensity sprints with an active recovery is a surfire fat-blasting technique. Try this routine on a track, hill, or in a spinning class:

- 10 minute warm-up

- 30-60 second sprints for 15 minutes, broken up by one-three minutes of recovery in between

- 5 minute cool-down

Incorporate one high-intensity interval workout and one moderate-intensity interval workout each week in between two to three days of longer, steady-paced cardio workouts.

Phil Younghusband: "KC del Rosario? I don't know who she is."

Posted by JED on , under | comments (3)

Phil Younghusband once again belied the rumor that he has a girlfriend or ever met a non-showbiz girl named KC del Rosario.

When asked about KC during the launch of his newest endorsement VitWater Power drink, Phil opted not to comment on the issue and immediately walked out of the venue.

However, in a report posted on abs-cbnNEWS.com, Phil clarified that he doesn't know a girl named KC, "I don't know. I don't know who KC is. I don't know anything. I don't know anything about it." then apologized and cleared his name on the walk-out issue, "To all those who came in the vitpower launch last tue,tnx for coming.sorry wasn't able to stay longr had to leave for training.tnx so much."

But on the contrary, his brother James Younghusband said he knows KC because she's a schoolmate of his girlfriend Fiona Faulkner and his brother already met her once.

On the other hand, James also stressed that Phil only have his eyes right now for Kapamilya actress Angel Locsin.

KC goes to the same school as my girlfriend. Just to clarify, Phil met KC once. Angel is only in Phil's eyes,” James said in an interview during the Azkals Send-Off party organized by ABS-CBN.

Free Movie Showing At Selected SM Cinemas Nationwide This Weekend

Posted by JED on , under | comments (1)

In celebration of its 100 years in the country, Nestlé Philippines, in cooperation with Star Cinema and Cinema One, offers free movie showing this weekend at select SM cinemas featuring 100 minute anthology of 10 short films themed "Kasambuhay, Habambuhay" (Companion in Life, For Life) highlighting the values embodied by each of its pillar brands and how Nestlé has become a Kasambuhay to Filipino families for generations.

The "Kasambuhay, Habambuhay" Short Film Anthology was unveiled Friday night at Rockwell Cinema 2, Makati City.

Nestlé Philippines CEO and Chairman John Miller and Director of Communications Sandra Puno graced the Gold Carpet premiere of the anthology.

“This relationship with the Filipino consumers, anchored on the quality of our brands and the role that these much loved brands have played in helping nurture and nourish Filipino families, is what led us to our centennial theme Kasambuhay, Habambuhay,” Miller said.

Most sought after Kapamilya stars Jake Cuenca, Bianca Gonzalez, Melissa Ricks, Luis Manzano, Mariel Rodriguez and Toni Gonzaga added glitter to the night as they welcomed the distinguished guests of the evening.

The 10 short films are: “The Howl and The Fussyket,” “Unplugged,” “Silup,” “Isang Tasang Pangarap,” “Sali Salita,” “Oh! Pa Ra Sa Ta U Wa Yeah,” “Downtown,” “Tingala sa Baba,” “Cooking Mo, Cooking Ko” and “Sign Seeker.”

Some of the country’s acclaimed actors such as John Lloyed Cruz, Eugene Domingo, Gloria Romero, Eddie Garcia, Marvin Agustin, Neil Colera, Solenn Heussaff, Kaye Abad and Jillian Ward showcase their talents in the short films.

10 featured "Kasambuhay, Habambuhay" short films in the anthology are:

The Howl & the Fussyket - (directed by Chris Martinez): Eight-year old Aaron (Gerald Pesigan) is dead set on winning the Grand Prize in his 2nd Grade declamation contest. He is determined to win despite his obvious “f” and “p” speech defect, a proclivity common amongst some Filipinos to interchange the pronunciation of English words with the letters “f” and “p”. His mother (Eugene Domingo) takes an active albeit humorous role in preparing him for the competition. This is a story of perseverance, family unity and the real meaning of triumph and possibly the “Rocky” of all declamation contests!

Sign Seeker - (directed by Carlo Directo): A superstitious guy, Bien (John Lloyd Cruz), seeks all sorts of “divine” signs that will determine his decision of asking the girl of his dreams (Solenn Heussaff) out on a date. The fear of rejection swallows him whole, making him justify his cause to seek for more unfathomable signs. But when each sign he asks for materializes, he soon learns that he has to be careful with what he wishes.

Oh! Pa Ra Sa Ta U Wa Yeah! - (directed by Jeorge Agcaoili): The Clemente family is off to an outing but teenage son, Nicos (Neil Coleta), seems out of it. Nicos is besotted with his ladylove, Mattina (Colleen Garcia), whom he can’t quite figure out. The inside info that Nicos gets from Mattina’s younger sister, Bettina (Jillian Ward), doesn’t seem to be helping. Seeing his son’s despair, Nicos’ father finally shares to his son an ancient family heirloom. It is a 100-year old manual containing the secrets, alphabetically arranged, of how men in their clan courted women. Through this, Nicos finally learns what every man should know by heart — the ABC’s of what women truly want.

Downtown - (directed by: Stephen Ngo): In a Chinese community in downtown Manila, we meet a man who has floated through life with his ladylove by his side. But now, times have changed as he begins each day waking up alone on his bed made for two. He realizes that his coffee has it better because, at least, it has a creamer to be its mate. In these moments, he misses his beloved the most and decides to get his act together for a second shot at the greatest thing in life— love.

Tingala sa Baba - (directed by Henry Frejas): In a typical playground, life plays a game of irony when two 8-year old kids are on a seesaw. One is a rather hefty child from a well-to-do family who is stuck at the bottom, whereas a lanky child brought up in poverty is on top. Rich kid is looking up to the poor boy, who in turn, is looking down on him. How will the rich kid reverse their positions? The answer to that question will make one realize that friendship is more valuable than money, while the other will discover his true worth as a friend.

Unplugged - (directed by Raul Jorolan): A football coach (Marvin Agustin) takes his team of teenage boys out on a fieldtrip to the provincial home of his grandfather (Eddie Garcia). But instead of bonding as a team, the boys are more caught up with their gadgets. The coach’s grandfather is determined to change all that as he challenges the boys to detach from their virtual distractions and explore the great outdoors instead. The boys then unlock a new world of natural wonder and discovery, realizing that going offline is the only way to reconnect back to a life that is unplugged.

Cooking Mo, Cooking Ko - (directed by Chris Martinez): This comedic version of the classic “Romeo and Juliet” narrates the story of star-crossed lovers born into warring families who each happen to be proud owners of their own carinderias (local eateries) battling for their town’s cuisine supremacy. Old wounds are reopened among the Montano and the Capule families when the former’s loyal customers start patronizing the latter. Young lovers Romina Montano and Julius Capule are caught in this web of intrigue, espionage and extra rice.

Silup - (directed by Jun Reyes): Silup is “Pulis” (police) spelled backwards. We peek into the life of a Manila cop (Sid Lucero) whose day is made up of dealing with denizens and the crimes they commit. At work, he may be all tough and stern, but at home, we see his more sensitive side. He has this mysterious routine of taking out a can of sterilized milk from a cupboard and depositing his revolver in its place. Later on, it is revealed why he makes the switch and how it is like to live by his duty as a policeman to serve and protect.

Isang Tasang Pangarap - (directed by Sid Maderazo): In a small town devastated by calamity and chaos, Elias (Ramon Bautista), still holds on to the one thing he considers sacred—a shiny red coffee mug. For him, this mug not only symbolizes his love for coffee but his hope for a better life. After an enlightening encounter with a strange sari-sari store owner, he is suddenly gifted with the ability to tell the future. Soon enough, he is proclaimed as “The Coffee Psychic” and personifies hope for the townsfolk. But can hope truly spring eternal in this comedic homage to the award-winning epic Filipino film, “Himala” (Miracle)?

Sali Salita - (directed by A/F Benaza): A mother who writes children’s storybooks, ironically, doesn’t have enough time to create stories for her own son. The restless child finds a chance to create his own stories when his grandfather (Bodjie Pascua), comes up with a game. They fill an old milk can with pieces of paper, each containing a word which will be a “story-starter”. Tales of heroes and villains, magic and places fill up the child’s imagination. But the child’s made-up story is in need of a happy ending. Now, it depends on the storyteller mother to create the greatest ending of them all.

The 100-minute showcase will be shown for free on June 11 and 12 in the following SM Cinemas: Megamall, Southmall, Rosales, Davao, and Cebu.

John Edwards Trial: Requests To Delay Testimony in S@# Tape Case

Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. (Associated Press)John Edwards does not want to be deposed this month in a case involving a purported sex tape.

The two-time presidential candidate is asking that his scheduled June 20 deposition wait until after criminal proceedings against him conclude.

Edwards says in court papers filed Thursday that he wants the delay to protect his right to a fair trial and against self-incrimination.

Edwards is a witness in a privacy lawsuit that mistress Rielle Hunter filed against former Edwards campaign aide Andrew Young. Hunter contends Young improperly took what is believed to be a sex tape that includes Edwards.

Edwards is charged with improperly using campaign money to keep Hunter out of the public eye as he pursued the White House. He says he is innocent.

Zocor Warning: So Dangerous That It Can Damage Your Kidney

Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announces that the popular cholesterol drug simvastatin (brand name: Zocor) should be given a safety label warning because the highest recommended dose of 80 milligrams (mg) a day has been associated with an elevated risk of muscle injury or myopathy, particularly during the first year of use.

The agency noted a study last year showing that about 1% patients taking 80 milligrams a day suffered from muscle damage. The same study included more than 6,000 patients taking 20 milligrams of Zocor a day, only one of them developed the muscle problem.

But like other statin drugs, high doses of which can be toxic to muscles. In extreme cases, the muscles break down and release dangerous proteins that can damage the kidneys. This complication, known as rhabdomyolysis, can be fatal.

Casey Anthony Now Back in Court - 1 Day After She Found Out Caylee's Dead Body was Chewed by Animals

Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

One day after she got ill in the courtroom, Casey Anthony is back in court.

It will be recalled that an unsettled Casey Anthony broke down after hearing that animals chewed on her daughter's bones — the second day in a row the suspected child killer was overcome with emotion in court.

Later, Dr. Jan Garavaglia, the Chief Medical Examiner for Orange and Osceola counties, took the stand in Anthony's murder trial.

Garavaglia ruled Caylee's death a homicide after investigators delivered the child's remains for her evaluation.

Garavaglia just told jurors that she ruled Caylee's death a homicide due to the delay in reporting her missing, her body being left hidden in a field and the duct tape found with her remains.

She said no child's body should be found lifeless with duct tape in the area of the face.

She could not determine the cause of death, however. The body was so decomposed she could not tell the cause, so she listed it as a homicide due to undetermined means.

She said the duct tape could have been used to kill the child if it was placed over the nose and mouth. She also said a sufficient amount of chloroform could have caused her death.

Garavaglia was quizzed by defense attorney Cheney Mason, who focused many of his questions on why Garavaglia ruled Caylee's death a homicide.

She said it was the "only logical conclusion...based on observational information we have about children dying in homicides."

AJ Perez Named DepEd's "Larunungan: Kalinga Kapamilya Toy Drive" Campaign Ambassador

Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

"Larunungan: Kalinga Kapamilya Toy Drive", a joint educational project of the Department of Education (DepEd) and ABS-CBN Integrated Public Service, chose the late actor AJ Perez as one of its ambassadors.

The announcement was made during the campaign's official launch this morning at ABS-CBN's Studio 10.

Gelo Perez graced the event and rendered a speech stressing how much his brother AJ valued education and how he wanted a good everyone for everyone. He also said that the late young actor believed that through education we can have a brighter world.

Read below part of Gelo's speech:

Learning has a soft part in the heart of my brother AJ. He has always valued education and made it a priority together with his love for family. I remember very clearly, that no matter how busy AJ was, he always made it a point to devote time and attention to his studies and was blessed with good grades.

For someone as young as he was with the help of our parents, I'm very proud of my brother's determination to prioritize education. It made a strong foundation in his very short but meaningful life. AJ also became a good example. He's always an inspiration and emphasized the great need and importance of home study. If AJ were here today he would have wanted every kid to start valuing education as much as he had

AJ always dreamt of living in a harmonious world. Part of his dream was education for everyone especially for the less fortunate brothers and sisters. AJ believed that through education the ultimate goal of having a harmonious world to live in will be achieved.... For my kuya, education is a universal right. He firmly believed that learning will surely contribute to growth and well-being thereby making all of us productive members of society."

"Larunungan: Kalinga Kapamilya Toy Drive" aims to raise 1.9 million educational toys to be given to 1.9 kindergarten children from 38,000 schools and day care centers nationwide.

The Kamuning Elementary School in Quezon City is the first kindergarten school that will benefit from the said toy drive.

Present during the launching were ABS-CBN Integrated Public Service Head Fr. Tito Caluag, DepEd Assistant Secretary Tonisito M.C. Umali and child stars Bugoy Cariño, Xyriel Mabanat and Zaijan Jaranilla.
