ABS-CBN, the only TV network recognized by the award-giving body given by the University of Asia and the Pacific, launched multimedia campaigns to empower citizens in making the 2010 elections work and to bring hope to Filipinos last Christmas after typhoon Ondoy struck the country.
(L-R) Head of Business Devt' for News and Current Affairs Yvette Novenario, Creative Director Ira Zabat, Head of News and Current Affairs Maria Ressa, abs-cbnNEWS.com and mobile COO, Head of Corporate Communications Bong Osorio, and ABS-CBN News Channel COO Glenda Gloria
ABS-CBN's 2009 Christmas campaign dubbed as "Bro Ikaw ang Star ng Pasko" effectively used a theme song and music video of the same title to give importance to the light and spark of hope that emanate from each one of us and most significantly, from God Himself during the most trying times. It was launched during the aftermath of typhoon Ondoy, which made the campaign very timely and reflective of the current plight of society.
"When we were putting the campaign together, the intention was simple--mount a meaningful and relevant Christmas campaign. After witnessing how Filipinos acted as one to help the victims of typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng, we were compelled to exalt 'Bro.' In giving it back to Him, He gave it back to us big time--by a very warm employee and audience reception, and a Tambuli Award to boot!" said Zita Aragon, Program Marketing Head.
"This award is important to the network because it is recognition of ABS-CBN's leadership in the area of branded entertainment. We hope to have more wins like these in the future," Customer Marketing and Production Services Group Head Teresita Villareal added.
ABS-CBN also launched related components to the campaign such as the selling of Christmas lanterns called 'Parol ni Bro' where proceeds helped fund the Bayanijuan and Sagip Kapamilya projects of ABS-CBN Foundation Inc., and the network’s Christmas special held at the Araneta Colisuem.
Second Row (L-R): Pia de leon (Licensing), Ferdinand Marcos (Marketing), Dang Baldonado and Kathrina Sanchez (CCM)
Third/last Row (L-R): Mike Sales, Jen Delos Santos, Christian Wong (Marketing), and Edsel Misenas (CCM)
Meanwhile, ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs' "Boto Mo, iPatrol Mo: Ako ang Simula" election campaign successfully used various platforms to promote vigilance among citizens and encourage Filipinos to register to vote. The nationwide campaign had a music video, a concert that brought together Boto Patrollers, citizen journalism workshops, registration to join the BMPM movement offline and online via a microsite, among others.
"Boto Mo iPatrol Mo: Ako Ang Simula demonstrated the potential of media to inspire hope, to empower people, to be of service to the Filipino. This Tambuli Award is a vote for the thousands of Boto Patrollers all over the country, sila ang simula ng lahat, sila ang kampanya," said Ira Zabat, Creative Director.
The Tambuli Awards aims to recognize campaigns that promote both business and societal values while demonstrating effectivity. This year marks the first time the award giving body introduced the Best Media Initiated Campaign category. The award proper was held last July 14, 2010 at the Li Seng Giap Auditorium of the University of Asia & the Pacific.

"Mayroong mga pagkakataong kailangang balansehin mo ang bagay bagay. Kailangan mo lang maging fair sa mga taong involved sa buhay mo, whether its personal or professional career. At this point I have to sacrifice something. Hindi ko naman sinabi na pang-matagalan. Gusto kong bigyan ng prioridad ang mga gagawin ko na hakbang na ayaw kong makasakit ng tao," he said.

Fresh from their victory in the MYX VJ Search 2010, Julz, Ton and Robin were described as a "diverse and quirky combination" by MYX Channel Head Andre Allan Alvarez. "The three make a good combination. They have very distinct personalities and different types of sense of humor. But they’re all musically inclined."
Alvarez added that Julz, Ton and Robin are those VJs that the viewers can easily relate to. "Ton is a musician and a fan of MYX ever since he was a kid. And I think he brings the point of view of the typical MYX fan/viewer. So, we're hoping that the fans watching on TV can easily connect with Ton. Julz brings a lot of spunk. Her in-your-face attitude is something that a lot of boys and girls can easily identify with and she’s able to project it in a way that looks classy yet intense. Robin has a very unique stance. His personality is quite different from the others. His sharp wit and deadpan humor will offer something new for our viewers. They really make a very interesting bunch! We’ve never had this kind of combination before. And I think everyone will be bringing something that’s unique."
During the presscon, the three new music ambassadors imparted their thoughts about being full-fledged MYX VJs. Eighteen-year-old red-haired college student Julz took pride in her recent achievement. "It’s such a great feeling. I am very proud that I was chosen as one of the newest MYX VJs. I’m really so happy! I think the public voted for me because they just like the true me. The hair could’ve helped. But I think it’s really the personality that I brought with everything else. Now that I’m on MYX, they can expect a lot of laughter, a lot of joy, and a lot of smiles to all the MYX viewers."
As for 21-year-old pretty boy rocker Ton, being part of MYX is a dream come true. "This is something I really want. I’ve been a fan of MYX since I was knee-high. And now that I’m officially part of it, I'm just so thankful and excited. Now that I’m here, I’m gonna bring more attitude and more rock ‘n roll in MYX!"
And for 21-year old musician Robin, he said that he is going to give his all. "I'm gonna give whatever I can give, which is my randomness and my dad’s wit and my mom’s quick mouth whatever that means. To my supporters, thank you so much. You have no idea how much this means to me."
The three new VJs will be seen on MYX this August. VJ Julz will host MYX International Top 20 (with VJ Janine), Pinoy MYX, My MYX, Pop MYX and Take 5. Paul Conroy is not ready to die. But when he wakes up 6 feet underground with no idea of who put him there or why, life for the truck driver and family man instantly becomes a hellish struggle for survival. Buried with only a cell phone and a lighter, his contact with the outside world and ability to piece together clues that could help him discover his location are maddeningly limited. Poor reception, a rapidly draining battery, and a dwindling oxygen supply become his worst enemies in a tightly confined race against time- fighting panic, despair and delirium, Paul has only 90 minutes to be rescued before his worst nightmare comes true.

Curious about how the episode will look like? What Brit's songs made the cut? Will Britney appears on this episode? What the cast say about the episode?
Lea Michele almost gives the whole episode away with these little nuggets of wisdom;
"It’s gonna be a really big episode…I’ve always loved Britney Spears, and I get to do something REALLY cool."
"What I loved about the episode is there’s old songs, there's new songs, and Ryan (Murphy) also does what was really cool in the Madonna episode, how he took a song and had the boys sing it. He does the same thing with Britney and I can’t wait to hear it because the idea sounds so cool."
"“I am singing a classic Britney Spears song that I’m so excited about. I am recreating a Britney video, but I can’t say what it is yet."
Prediction time! I’m seeing an emotional "I’m not a girl, Not yet a woman" performance in Michele's not-to-distance future and an all-singing-all-dancing version of "Baby one more time" in the school gym!
According to Matthew Morrison, pictured here shopping at Crate & Barrell at The Grove in Los Angeles yesterday, Mr Schuster will be anti-Britney;
"“I like Britney. I got in trouble earlier for comments I made saying I’m anti-Britney, but I’m not. I think in this episode they’re going to mirror those comments and I’m going to be very anti-Britney in the episode because I don’t like what she represents…It’s gonna be a lot of fun and some crazy stuff is gonna happen."
Crazy indeed. The cast also confirmed that Britney will not be appearing on the show and one song of hers has definitely been confirmed – "Stronger". Will the Glee club attempt that chair spinning dance from the “Stronger” video? For the sakes of their limbs-I hope not.
The two married on the French island of Corsica on Saturday, July 31, in a ceremony presided by an Indian born American physician, writer Dr. Deepak Chopra.
Alicia wore a Grecian-inspired Vera Wang dress and carried a bouquet of purple calla lilies. While, Swizz Beatz looked gorgeous in a Tom Ford tuxedo.
The wedding was attended by Swizz’s first son Nasir Dean, U2’s Bono, Queen Latifah, and designer Tommy Hilfiger with his wife Dee Ocleppo.

Sam sets off to find out more about what his parents are making Tommy do. He narrows it down to dog fighting and infiltrates the nearest ring. It breaks my heart this kind of thing happens in real life. Horrible people. Make dogs fight to the death and then shoot them? One of the more disturbing scenes in the episode tonight and that’s saying something believe me. Sam releases as many dogs as he can and saves his brother from his lunatic parents. Oh and naturally, we get one more shot of his dad in those fabulous underpants.
Summer shows up with some baked goods for Hoyt just in time to be a creepy girlfriend. Hoyt isn't really into it, probably because of his feelings for Jessica. I miss her this week. Jason however loves Summer's biscuits. Hehe. He makes things awkward and convinces Hoyt to let Summer stick around. Jason is just a batch of bad decisions this week. He goes to talk to the druggie he nabbed a few episodes back about the girl he’s already in love with. He won’t tell Jason anything unless he gets some meth so Jason makes his way to Lafayette. Before Lafayette can tell Jason what a loon he’s being they get some bad news.
Sookie is sitting in the back of the truck with a dying Bill and resorts to slicing open her arm to save him. She’s relieved because it looks to be working well until a frenzy takes Bill over and he completely drains her. Tara and Alcide kick him out of the truck and into the sunlight where he’s..fine? Did all that magical Sookie blood make it okay for him to be in the sunlight? I just wanna say how kick ass Tara has been this episode. It's good to have her back. Tara calls Jason to tell him Sookie is dying and is in a coma.
Eric tortures the Queen's human for information on why Sookie is so important to her. He gets his wish but of course we can't hear what it is. Obviously it has something to do with why Sookie has that light power weapon against people who harm her. How did the Queen know about her? Eric and the King go to rescue Pam. In between getting married to the Queen, Russell kills that evil majester. Good Riddance. Douche.
So why is Sookie special? Whatever is going on with her has her doctors confused. She needs a transfusion but she doesn't have a blood type. Is she human? This is some superman stuff right here. Tara and Jason panic and when Bill shows up to help, Tara is pissed. And rightfully so. But Jason sees no other solution and allows him to give Sookie his blood. Sookie may not want to wake up. She's having a real trippy dream. The impression I have is of a bunch of dancing fairy like people chilling out by a pond of magic water and they want Sookie to join them. They warn her to stay away from Bill who will "steal her light" and she wakes up. She sees Bill and screams. Finally a proper reaction to that vamp.
Source ABC NewsActress Lindsay Lohan was released from jail early Monday after serving 13 days of a 90-day sentence for violating her probation on a 2007 drunk-driving charge, media reported.
Lohan, 24, was booked into an all-female jail in south Los Angeles on July 20 and placed in solitary confinement — a blow to newspaper headline writers who had excitedly predicted she would be victimized by lesbian gangs.
Her sentence was reduced for good behavior and under early-release programs to combat overcrowding in Los Angeles’ budget-strapped jail system.
Entertainment website E! Online reported that Lohan was released at 1.35 a.m. Monday but somehow managed to avoid the dozens of camera crews waiting outside the jail for her.
Her freedom is expected to be short-lived though as her sentence also mandates she begin an immediate 90-day stint in rehab. According to celebrity website TMZ.com, Lohan will be treated for bipolar disorder and an addiction to amphetamines.
Both TMZ and rival outlet Radaronline.com said Lohan would head to a facility operated by the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) Hospital System in West Los Angeles.
Featured in the trailer are Kapuso birthday celebrants Dingdong Dantes who's celebrating his birthday today, August 2, and Marian Rivera whose birthday is on August 12.

After starring in two musical-drama series, "Bituing Walang Ningning" and "Pangarap Na Bituin", Sarah once again in another musical teleserye ala-Glee titled "iDOL".
But unlike the first two series which are a remake of Sharon Cuneta's previous movies, iDOL is an original project especially written for the Popstar Princess.
iDOL is set to premiere on ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida by September 2010.
