Who Will Be Crowned The Big Winner of Pinoy Big Brother Teen Clash of 2010?

Posted by JED on , under | comments (2)

The much-awaited finale of Pinoy Big Brother Teen Clash of 2010 will happen in an hour from now at the "Unite at the Big Night" at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo, Rizal.

Viewers witnessed many firsts this season such as the first time in PBB history to have teen housemates from other countries and the first time that six housemates will enter the Big Night. Who among the Teen Big Six namely Devon Seron, Fretzie Bercede, Ivan Dorschner, Bret Jackson, James Reid, and Ryan (Hyung Sung Bang) will be crowned Teen Big Winner?

Cebuana Devon is the only housemate who lives a simple life outside the PBB house. She is known for showing extra effort in keeping up with her housemates who are used to a comfortable life and became open to expressing her opinions and feelings about them.

"Charming" is the term of endearment for Fretzie, the other Cebuana teen housemate, who is known for her beauty. Her cute relationship with Bret garnered her many fans but her hardworking ways inside the house also made her a standout.

Ivan is the only male Filipino in the Teen Big Six. At first he knew little Tagalog and was very quiet but now he is more open about his thoughts and even expresses himself in Tagalog.

Teenternational Bret from the United States showed his talent in singing and guitar-playing in PBB. He also had a lot of "kilig" moments with Fretzie. But he gained many supporters for the leadership he displayed in the different tasks and how he defended his peers when the situation called for it.

Another headturner is James from Australia. James almost got evicted due to his health condition but he tried his best to get better so he could stay in the game. He was also not afraid to show his love for his father.

Ryan of Korea is the source of comic relief inside the house. However, he also had his share of drama when he opened up about his life, particularly the painful break-up of his parents.

The six housemates are not the only ones feeling the pressure of the incoming end of the season. Even the show's hosts are also becoming emotional as the Big Night approaches.

"Nakaka-senti talaga pag malapit nang matapos ang season," shared Über host Mariel Rodriguez. She said the most memorable experience for her this season was when she entered the house for the scouting task of Ivan. "Nakaka-miss din yung papasok ka sa loob ng bahay ni Kuya for any reason. Nakakatuwa si Ivan, namumula buong mukha niya pag binibiro ko siya," she said.

PBB Updates host Bianca Gonzalez, for her part, said she will miss House C. "Di ba may dalawang bahay si Kuya? Yung House C yung third house. Kami yun, mga host, staff at crew ng PBB. Mami-miss ko yung bonding namin," she said.

Primetime host Toni Gonzaga is also having mixed emotions. "Every pagtatapos naman ng season nakakalungkot, pero at the same time nakaka excite kasi alam mo na you are preparing for the next season... I'm wishing the best sa [Teen] Big Winner ng Season na to," she shared.

Watch out for the performances this Saturday (June 26) from Pilipinas Got Talent winner Jovit Baldivino and his co-finalists Keith Cark and Velasco Brother with teen sensation Sam Concepcion and teen ex-housemates. PBB Double Up Big Winner and Prinsesa ng Masa Melissa Cantiveros will also be there to welcome the newest Teen Big Winner. PBB Teen Clash of 2010 will air tonight, June 26, right after Maalaala Mo Kaya.

Don't miss the reunion of your favorite housemates from different PBB seasons at High Five: The Big Five Years of PBB this Sunday (June 27) after Sharon on ABS-CBN.

Disney Movies' "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" Characters

Posted by JED on Thursday, June 24, 2010 , under | comments (1)

Meet the characters of Disney Movies' upcoming fantasy adventure film, "The Sorcerer's Apprentice."

SORCERER
BALTHAZAR BLAKE (Nicolas Cage) is a student of Merlin and a Sorcerer. More than 1,000 years old, Balthazar has been searching the globe until he finds the Prime Merlinean, the descendent of Merlin and inheritor of his great powers. When Balthazar finally discovers him in 10-year-old Dave Stutler, he finds himself with a very reluctant sorcerer’s apprentice.

APPRENTICE
DAVE STUTLER (Jay Baruchel) is a nerdy NYU physics major, lacking confidence and poise, not very popular with girls or even his fellow students. At the age of 10, he experiences a frightening incident when he encounters sorcerer Balthazar Blake after wandering into the bizarre Arcana Cabana curio shop. He’s given a dragon ring that comes to life on his finger, and he's told that he’ll be a very important sorcerer himself. He then witnesses a furious battle between Balthazar and another sorcerer named Maxim Horvath which made him want to forget the whole matter…until both Balthazar and Horvath re-enter his life 10 years later, forcing him to confront a destiny he would very much like to ignore! "Dave is his own worst enemy, the architect of his own misery," says Baruchel. "He spends his life trying to live down that moment in the Arcana Cabana when he first encountered Balthazar and Horvath. He gravitates towards physics, which is the discipline he gives his life to. When he meets up with Balthazar again, the sorcerer tells Dave that it was no coincidence that he drifted towards physics because although illusion and magic are different, magic and science are the same thing."

VILLAIN
MAXIM HORVATH (Alfred Molina) was, along with Balthazar Blake and Veronica, a disciple of Merlin and a force of good more than a thousand years ago. But their mutual love for Veronica split the colleagues apart and Horvath has instead become an ally of the wicked Morgana, who murdered Merlin and is seeking to conquer the world with her minions. He and Balthazar have battled through the ages, finally bringing their conflict to modern-day New York City. "In The Sorcerer's Apprentice, Horvath's mission is world domination,” says Molina. "Balthazar and Horvath have a rivalry that’s gone on for millennia. Balthazar is maintaining the Merlinean standard of magic as a power that’s used for the benefit of mankind. Horvath is the leader of the Morganians, who take the very different view that magic should be used to subjugate humans. That’s the struggle between good as personified by Nic Cage’s character, and evil as personified by mine. Horvath is a rather smart, debonair, Edwardian villain in the classic tradition of suave bad guys, well dressed and charming, but deadly."

SORCERESS
VERONICA (Monica Bellucci) is a sorcerer who has had the great fortune of being loved by Balthazar Blake—and the misfortune of being loved by Maxim Horvath. "Balthazar and Veronica are willing to do everything for their love," says Bellucci, "and at the same time they’re two fighters. Horvath, who, like them, was a disciple of Merlin, also falls in love with Veronica. She rejects him for Balthazar, and because of that he betrays them by aligning himself with Morgana. It’s a beautiful and powerful story about love, jealousy and vengeance."

WIZARD
SUN LOK (Gregory Woo) is an ancient, but perpetually young, Chinese sorcerer and Morganian. When he’s unlocked from his Grimhold by Horvath, Sun Lok wreaks havoc in Chinatown during a lively festival by materializing a fearsome fire-breathing dragon. "Sun Lok has been in a little container for thousands and thousands of years, and when he’s let out, he’s really, really angry," says Woo.

Butch Abad, incoming presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda, and the Aquino sisters.

Blind Item #9, 10, 11: Raketera Queen, Tissue Shortage, Water Spill

Posted by JED on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 , under | comments (0)

And the height, kasabwat nito ang kanyang madera.

Tanong? Ano kaya ang ginawa ni aktor at nag-super pawis to the max sya? May shortage kaya ng tissue? Walang water? Kadiri!!!

Hus Dis Pls? For sure ide-deny nya ang isyung 'to!

Hus Dis Pls? Matatagpuan mo sya sa isang bayan sa Albay. Yun lang.

GMA-7 Says Goodbye "Diz Is It", Hello "Danz Showdown"

Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

Kapuso morning talent reality show "Diz Is It" is nearing its end as announced by GMA-7's President and CEO Felipe Gozon in a recent press briefing.

Diz Is It was supposedly produced as an answer to ABS-CBN's Showtime who toppled GMA-7's long-running variety talk show SIS, but critics and viewers find it as poor half-baked-copy-cat of rival Showtime, and so it generates a very low ratings.

According to reports, the network management already gave the show an ultimatum. But since the ratings isn't picking up for the show up to this time, GMA decided to cancel the show and replace it with a new dance-reality show titled "Danz Showdown" with Mark Herras and Sexbomb Dancers as hosts.

Expert Slams 'Party Pilipinas' 3D Broadcast

Posted by JED on , under | comments (5)

GMA Network, as they claimed, made history with the 3D broadcast of its Sunday noontime musical Party Pilipinas last weekend, June 20.

But a techno website expressed disappointment with the 3D technology employed by the network for last Sunday's broadcast.

To quote:

Um, did anyone see this? Apparently, GMA-7's weekend par-tey show Party Pilipinas was aired in 3D yesterday. Sounds surprising, right? Except that it's not.

As cutting-edge as the word "3D" may sound, what GMA used to pull this stunt off was an older version of the technology. According to the instructional video, you'll need to create your own pair of anachrome/anaglyph (red and blue) glasses to see the 3D effect. Anachrome glasses filter the image to create a primitive 3D illusion.

While we have nothing against anachrome 3D, the way the show was promoted as a first in Philippine TV was clearly intended to one-up the competition [ABS-CBN] without actually one-upping them.

To create real 3D material, you'll need huge-ass multimillion-dollar equipment and a means to broadcast the feed/data. What GMA did was to create sets of images, 1 red and 1 blue, and smash them together into a single analog feed. TV stations in the US have been doing this since the early '90s, and today, they're only beginning to experiment with real 3D broadcast.

3D has come a long way, especially with IMAX/3D theaters and modern 3D TVs proliferating. And more importantly, the 3D glasses they require cannot be made out of folders and cellophane alone.

Theaters use polarized glasses that separate stereoscopic (or images caught with 2 lenses that mimic the eye) frames while 3D TVs use battery-powered active shutter glasses to achieve the same effect. What's more, the colors are much more vivid and the depth of the images are much more realistic than what anachrome 3D could ever achieve.

Misleading as it may be, we have to give credit to Party Pilipinas for trying to jump in on the 3D bandwagon. As far as the program making it to the record books, however, well, we'll have to disagree. Hard.

Party Pilipinas' 3D may be a first in the country, but it's not the kind of first that we've been waiting for.

"Claudine" Will Soon Rest In Peace

Posted by JED on , under | comments (2)

Claudine Barretto's Saturday night drama program "Claudine" on GMA-7 will soon meet its end. Mismong si Mr. Gilberto R. Duavit, GMA Network EVP at Chief Operating Officer ang nag-confirm.

The show's poor rating daw is not the main consideration behind this GMA management's decision. Mahihirapan daw kasi si Claudine sa scheduling because busy nga ito sa shooting ng pelikulang In Your Eyes.

But according to Mr. Duavit, bibigyan naman daw si Claudine ng bagong show, isang soap opera that will features a lot of GMA talents.
