John Lloyd Cruz Faces Tax Evasion Case

Posted by JED on Friday, May 7, 2010 , under | comments (0)

Sa isang approved resolution ng Office of the Quezon City Prosecutor last April 14, ni-recommend na kasuhan ng violation of tax laws (Sections 5 and 14 of the Tax Code of 1997.) si John Lloyd dahil sa hindi nito pag-surrender ng kanyang accounting books sa Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).

Ayon pa sa BIR, John Lloyd is a no-show sa dalawang beses nilang invitation para i-surrender nito ang kanyang accounting books. Una ay noong June 15, 2007 and another request to appear before the tax bureau's Chief of Legal Division office ay na-schedule noong July 10, 2007. This prompted the filing of the case. "
His failure to appear and bring the records as demanded by the subpoena consummated the offense charged," according to the resolution signed by 2nd Assistant City Prosecutor Rogelio Velasco.

As far as I know, malinis ang record niya. Wala ding kameng natanggap na subpoena galing sa kanila."

Ayon naman sa legal counsel ng aktor na si Atty. Marc Perez, invalid and subpoena na na-issue ng BIR dahil hinde ito alam ng aktor.

"This case had been previously dismissed by the prosecutor's office only to be surprisingly reversed when BIR filed its motion for reconsideration. We are confident this case will be dismissed," Perez said.

The Video Says it All: Korina Sanchez Alleged "Boo" Incident at "Tears for Fears" Concert

Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

Kalat na kalat na sa mga social networking sites ang news tungkol sa pag-boo kay Korina Sanchez, wife ng Vice-Presidentiable na si Mar Roxas, during the Tears for Fears concert in Araneta last Sunday, May 2.

Korina, who was wearing the blue campaign t-shirt of Mar, reportedly received the "boo" from the audience when she flashed the "L" or Laban sign nung ipakita sya twice on the big screen right before the famous band said their goodbye "kuno".

But as expected Korina denied the allegations. In the presscon she organzed last Tuesday, May 3, at the Imperial Palace Suites in Quezon City, Korina defended herself and clarified na 'di nya alam na may nakatutok palang camera sa kanya, "Issue of propriety na ito. Ugali ko na ang pinag-uusapan dito. Walang nakarinig ng boo. We didn't hear it. Mar [Roxas] was there, he didn't hear it. Pinagtatawanan lang niya. Kasi hindi naman niya talaga narinig.

"Ini-enjoy namin ang concert, nagsasayawan kami. Pinalalabas kasi nilang ginamit ko ang venue sa kampanya. Of course not, hindi ako ganun. Hindi ako doon nangangampanya."

Meanwhile, Ovation Productions, promoter of Tears For Fears Manila concert through Renen de Guia, cleared the issue and sent their apologies to Korina.

"I would like to apologize to Ms. Korina Sanchez if our cameraman inadvertently focused on her. We would like to clarify that neither Ms. Sanchez nor anyone in her company made arrangements with us that they be given publicity mileage for political purposes during the Tears For Fears concert. I can imagine that flashing the "Laban" sign has become second nature to her after having been actively campaigning daily for months."

Tears for Fears in Manila concert", which clearly shows na may "boo" ngang nangyari sa concert?

So ano ba talaga ang totoo Mrs. Palengke?

Rima Ostwani Ready to Conquer Pinoy Showbiz

Posted by JED on , under | comments (1)

At 24, Rima Ostwani has a lot of things going for her.

Born to a Spanish-German mother and a Syrian father, Rima is gifted with very pretty Middle Eastern features and small, slender frame so very hard to ignore in show business. The name Rima is Middle Eastern for "the eyes of the deer."

Her very impressive and extensive resume will tell you Rima means serious business, and she’s too smart to handle. She’s done the debate team and school paper in high school. She was president of her high school student government and member of the student council in college (she’s a graduate of the De La Salle University Manila). Rima attended leadership courses during and after college and even taught French. She can easily be mistaken for one of those school geeks, albeit hot.

Aside from Tagalog, Rima can speak four foreign languages: English, Spanish, French and Arabic.

"I was schooled formally in Arabic and French. We speak English at home. While I learned Spanish informally from my mom," explained Rima.

Rima could easily be an actress. But as she admitted several times in various interviews, her acting chops leave something to be desired.

"Acting is for a certain kind of people," said Rima. "And I don’t think I’m fit to be an actress so I don’t find myself interested in acting. It looks easy on TV but in my case, you have to put me in tons of workshops for me to learn how to act."

Not even dating current beau, Diether Ocampo, has convinced her to try acting. Rima prefers to host and do commercial shoots.

"I want to host lifestyle shows since I have a background in retail," said Rima. "I love talking a lot. In fact, I was in the debate team in high school and I was also a member of the student council. I can discuss anything, everything under the sun. I can gel with any group. I can talk to anyone. I have a very cheery personality and I am very friendly. Hindi ako maarte. I may be makikay but I can be very cowboy, too."

Rima would also prefer it if members of the press distinguish her from her boyfriend, Diet. They have been dating for more than a year now.

"Rima is Rima, Diether is Diether," stressed Rima. "I have my own identity and we both have our own thing."

According to Rima, their relationship started because of kids. Rima apparently loves kids that when she found out Diet is into this advocacy promoting the welfare and future of the kids today, she was hooked.

"When I first met him (Diether), the first thing he told me was 'I have this foundation. It’s about children.' That’s when I realized that he wasn't just an actor. He had me when he told me he has this social cause," fondly recalled Rima. "Children’s causes are a passion we both share."

Rima added she wanted to follow in the footsteps of Angelina Jolie if given a chance.

"I want to be a diplomat or work for the UN (United Nations) someday," revealed Rima.

Until that day, Rima is dedicating all her energies to Diether’s K.I.D.S Foundation. She hopes someday, the charity organization will go global.

By profession, Rima is a personal shopper at one of the major department stores in the country. She basically handles VIP clients, personally attending to their every whim and fancy.

"I love doing retail because it is very related to fashion," said Rima. "It’s very much like hosting and modeling. They move in the same circle. The people who are involved in the fashion industry are also involved in designing fashion."

Rima may be very specific in what she wants to do in showbiz, but she maintains she’s not closing her doors to opportunities that may come her way. Even if that includes acting. But until now, she prefers to host and do commercial endorsements.

How ready is she to face the whirlwind world of the entertainment industry?

"Intrigues are inevitable (here)," said Rima. "Dating Diether has made me realize that it’s very easy to be stripped of your privacy in this kind of world. It’s something I had to learn to adjust to. Ngayon, I’m used to it na."

Rima has also learned how to cope with showbiz intrigues by avoiding them altogether. For example, she prefers not to watch the hit primetime soap, Rubi, wherein Diet has a hot, saucy romance with Angelica Panganiban.

"I hear a lot about what happens in the show from my staff and friends," confessed Rima. "I just choose not to watch. Full support lang ako. I mean, how would you feel if you see your boyfriend kissing someone else?"

Rima believes that keeping a positive outlook and not trying to please everyone will also help her get through show business.

"You cannot please everyone and everybody is entitled to his/her own opinion."

Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

The 10 "teenternational" housemates of Pinoy Big Brother Teen Clash of 2010 have added an international flavor to the show simula ng pumasok sila sa bahay ni Kuya last May 1, 2010.

The 10 bed spacers who entered the Apartment were: Bret Jackson from the United States, Carson Vince from Canada, James Reid from Australia, Richard Na, Ryan Bang, Jack Yoon, Jenny Kim, and Sophia Ko from Korea, April Sun from Hong Kong, and Ann Li from Taiwan.

ANN LI - Diligent Daughter of Taiwan

APRIL - Cantonese Hottie ng Hongkong

BRET- Indie Singer ng USA

CARSON - Loving Lad of Canada

JACK - Resort Prince ng Korea

JAMES - Dashing Dude of Australia

JENNY - Sassy Smart Girl of Korea

RICHARD - Romantic Achiever ng Korea

RYAN - Simpatikong Leader ng Korea

SOPHIA - Obedient Darling ng Korea

At kahit na nagmula sila sa iba't ibang cultures and countries of origin, they have been trying their best na nagkakasundo sa apartment and to get along well. Malaking bagay na karamihan sa kanila ay marunong nang managalog, o makaintindi ng tagalog tulad nina Bret, Carson, April, at Jack - making it easier for them to interact with one another.

Kilalaning mabuti ang mga Teenternational Housemates kasama si Mariel Rodriguez in PBB Teen Clash of 2010 Uber in its new timeslot after Precious Hearts Romances presents Love Me Again, si Toni Gonzaga in PBB Teen Clash of 2010 after Habang May Buhay, at si Bianca Gonzalez in PBB Updates.

Glee Episode 17 Recap – "Bad Reputation" Episode

Posted by JED on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 , under | comments (0)

When a suspicious list is posted ranking the members of Glee with the worst reputations, Sue and Figgins force Will to find out the culprit or, you guessed it, Glee club is toast. Will tries to reason with the kids when they all claim innocence and tries to show them just how much a bad reputation can suck. His best way of communication is apparently performing Ice Ice Baby by Vanilla Ice. Rapping, dancing and all. Jesse is right when he says this song should be arrested for sucking. But they all join in and dance nevertheless and agree to their new assignment of songs with bad reputations.

The Glee kids aren’t innocent in all that they do. Kurt steals a video he found in Sue’s office of her dancing to Olivia Newton John’s Physical. It’s the kind of embarrassing video you would make in your bedroom that you would never intend to make youtube. Finn however thinks Youtube is the perfect place for this gem of a video and posts it online. It goes viral by lunchtime and it’s not long before all the students and most of the faculty are laughing at her in exaggerated slow motion. Molly Shannon guest stars as the new bitchy astronomy teacher who doesn’t wait long before harassing Sue. Sue tells her to back off or else she’s going to “Kick you square in the taco!” AHahahahaha. I couldn’t stop laughing at this.

Sue is upset that the emotion radiating off of people around her is no longer fear. Chuck Norris just took back his place at number 1 on the bad ass chart and she’s not liking it. She visits her sister who gives her the advice to help someone worse off than her. That would of course be Emma. Sue’s way of giving back is by encouraging Emma to confront Will on all his manwhore behavior. FINALLY. Will is so taken aback by Emma standing up for herself that that he stands there like a deer in headlights and doesn’t even deny his douchery.

The recent posting of the Glist has got the kids thinking about their own reputations. Rachel is annoyed she’s at the bottom of the list and vows to become more musically promiscuous. So..basically she wants to be a slut. With her music. Rachel ropes Puck into helping her but he’s hesitant. He wants to change himself for the better because he’s tired of being the thug. He almost kisses Rachel with the line that Jesse will never understand what it means to be a jew. Smoooothe. Rachel makes her assignment video to
Run Joey Run by David Getty and uses not only Puck, but also Finn and Jesse. All the guys are pissed they were misled and Finn lets Rachel know that wanting the reputation of a slut is no way to gain friends. Amen. She tries to win them back with a performance of Total Eclipse of the Heart. This is one of the best performances on the show in a long time and it was amazing hearing all three guys sing along with her. I can’t wait to download it. It’s not enough to win back Jesse who breaks up with her. Is he still the bad guy?

The C-list members of the club (that would be Tina, Artie, Mercedes, Kurt and Brittany) are all pissed they weren’t even included on the list. They try to make themselves cool by breaking rules. They perform Can’t Touch This by Mc Hammer in the library but that doesn’t work. Not even Artie’s kick ass rapping and the big unflattering pants could save that one. Sue is delighted with the opportunity to save her reputation when she receives a phone call from Olivia Newton John who had just finished watching Sue’s video. Together they duet on an updated version of Physical and it’s pretty amazing. Pretty auto tuned but amazing. This episode was ten thousand times better than last week. It focused more on the plot and we got to see everyone involved. Artie and Jesse love! woot!

Willie Revillame vs. Jobert Sucaldito: Willie Revillame Demands ABS-CBN to Fire Jobert Sucaldito or Else...

Posted by JED on , under | comments (14)

To the rescue naman si

I don't think that's fair. You challenge the management na if you don't take me out magre-resign ka? You don't have to go that far."

ABS-CBN Receives Gold Award in Reader's Digest "Most Trusted Brand 2010"

Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

ABS-CBN gained the ultimate seal of consumer approval after receiving the Gold Award in the prestigious Reader's Digest Most Trusted Brands 2010 Survey.

The Kapamilya Network won in the Television Network Category after being voted by consumers as one of the most appealing television stations in the market.

ABS-CBN vice president for Corporate Communications Bong Osorio and ABS-CBN vice president for Creative Communications Management Robert Labayen accepted the award for the Kapamilya Network last Friday, April 30, in a ceremony at the New World Hotel in Makati City.

Osorio, who expressed gratitude to both the Reader's Digest and the public, said the award confirms other studies showing ABS-CBN as the network of choice for consumers who are looking for quality, credible, and high-rating entertainment and news programs.

"The fact that ABS-CBN has the top-performing programs in the country based on the ratings from TNS, is the most credible news source according to a Pulse Asia survey, is one of the top Google searches in the country, and now also one of the most trusted brands according to Readers' Digest only shows the enormous trust, confidence, and interest that the viewing public has for the network. And with recognitions like these, the people can expect us to work even harder for Filipinos worldwide," he said.

Voted 100% by consumers, the Reader's Digest Most Trusted Brand Survey is widely-considered to genuinely reflect consumers' choices of the most trusted and favorite brands in Hong Kong, India, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and the Philippines. Reader's Digest is the world's largest circulation magazine.

Incidentally, GMA Network also received the same prestigious award.

Claudine Barretto's "Claudine" Drama Anthology To Get The Axe Soon?

Posted by JED on Monday, May 3, 2010 , under | comments (0)

Is it true what we heard that GMA-7 is planning to axe "Claudine", the new drama anthology of Claudine Barretto on GMA-7, very soon?

According to showbiz columnist Ronnie Carrasco of Pilipino Star Ngayon, may tumawag daw sa kanya from ABS-CBN, Claudine's former home studio, inquiring about these rumor. Here's how he shared the story on his PERUSE ME column last May 3:

Parang a matter of life and death ang frantic call na natanggap ko mula sa isang staff ng ABS-CBN. Tanong kasi nito : Totoo nga raw bang sisibakin na sa ere ang soap ni Claudine Barretto? Literal ngang a matter of life and death. At nagkatotoo nga.

Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

It's a double celebration for the League of Intrigues, composed of the combined forces of the undisputed showbiz authority, Startalk and the Intriga Capital of the Philippines, Showbiz Central, as both shows captured high ratings and received abundant praises from viewers all over.

Based on the data of AGB Nielsen, among viewer-rich Mega Manila households last April 24 and 25, Startalk TX totally outclassed its competitor with an average audience share of 11.2%, 4.3% higher than competing showbiz talk show’s 7.0%. Showbiz Central also secured victory with a 9.1% rating while its competitor only had an 8.6% audience share.

The Burgeoning Legacy . For 14 years, Startalk has remained at the top of its game, going from strength to strength through fearless delivery of the latest entertainment news and by offering an engaging format that features the talk show hosts at their best.

Audiences admire how entertainment editor Ricky Lo could bring them exclusive interviews of both top and international celebrities. They appreciate how film critic Butch Francisco can be in two places at once just to give viewers a raw picture of the paths taken by a showbiz personality involved in the controversies of the week. Entertainment guru Joey De Leon--who always has everyone laughing with his jokes, especially those thrown at co host Lolit Solis--combines his signature humor with his intelligent analysis of showbiz issues. And then, of course, there is top showbiz manager Lolit Solis, the only woman in the formidable Startalk team who never fails to shock with her off-the-cuff comments. Ricky Lo, Butch Francisco, Joey De Leon and Lolit Solis --the Fab Four, all successful in their respective fields who have access to the inner workings of show biz. Small wonder then that when they talk, people listen.

Now that Startalk leveled up to Startalk TX, the Fab Four and the rest of the team are Three Times (TX) more aggressive at getting the hottest show biz news, Three Times more engaging, and Three Times more fun.

The Favorite Ka-Chika . At Showbiz Central, viewers can now do the talking. The segment Opinion Central just got bigger and better as it officially names the viewers as the “other host” of the show. I-Witness Explores "Black Propaganda" This Monday

Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

Philippine elections are riddled with mudslinging, character assassinations, and white paper distribution. For most campaign strategists, this is just regular fare. Black propaganda, however, is not a simple undertaking. It’s a covert, complicated, and sometimes dangerous operation. This Monday, after Saksi on GMA Network, I-WITNESS explores black propaganda.

A candidate’s sin from the past may resurrect many years later. Half-truths or totally false stories may appear in text blasts. With the advent of new technology, the fine line between what is true and what is bogus is getting thinner and thinner. With the Internet, especially the social networking sites, it’s now easy for people to spread gossip as legitimate news.

This Monday, Sandra Aguinaldo explores the dark and complex business of black propaganda in the Philippines. Clandestine operations are exposed and secrets will be revealed. A week before the elections, viewers can arm themselves with the knowledge they need to help them make an informed choice.

I-WITNESS ' Black Propaganda airs this Monday, May 3, after Saksi on GMA-7.
