Audition Celebrity Dance Battle - The TV Version, Soon on GMA-7

Audition Celebrity Dance Battle, the first TV dance contest based on the popular online dance game, is set to launch on May 17 on GMA-7’s Sunday musical variety show S.O.P.

George Royeca, VP for X-Play Online Games Inc., the company behind Audition Celebrity Dance Battle, said this bold new move is part of the direction of the company to bring its titles mainstream.

"Audition Dance Battle is all about the music, fashion, and fun game play which mirrors S.O.P.’s exciting musical and dance numbers and the fashion trend the show sets. They absolutely complement each other which is why going mainstream via S.O.P. is an almost natural thing to do. We are excited for Audition Celebrity Dance Battle and happy that GMA-NMI and GMA Network are giving their full support for this," said Royeca.

Kapuso stars who were chosen to participate in the dance battle have already begun their strenuous training and practice. The list of participants includes Mark Herras, Chynna Ortaleza, Rainier Castillo, Ryza Cenon, JC Tiuseco, Yasmien Kurdi, Vaness Del Moral and Dominic Roco.

Watch the "Audition Celebrity Dance Battle" commercial below:

Jason Tomas, Audition Dance Battle Product manager said that Audition Celebrity Dance Battle is actually similar to one of the game’s dance modes, Couple Mode, where players compete with other players in pairs. They will also be performing popular Audition Dance Battle dance moves.

"Audition Celebrity Dance Battle will be a guaranteed hit for our online players and the show’s avid followers. It’s like bringing the game into the real world with a celebrity cast to boost. So expect the Audition Dance Battle players who are 2 million strong and counting to watch this unique event," he pointed out.

The winning pair will receive P100,000, fifty percent of which will go to X-Play’s charity partner, IP Foundation. The healthcare program of IP Foundation is administered in collaboration with Family Vaccine and Specialty Clinics, which operates the largest chain of privately run vaccination clinics in the Philippines, with 30 clinics across 17 provinces nationwide. Each celebrity pair will sponsor one FVSC clinic.

Scores will be based on the judges’ vote, 50% and via SMS or text voting, 50%.

Shocking Elimination on American Idol Season 8; Top 2 Finalists Revealed

Posted by JED on , under , , | comments (0)

Over 88 million votes came in...

...And the Top 2 finalists were finally revealed.

Here's the recap of last night's American Idol Season 8 elimination night:

The show started with Danny Gokey, Kris Allen and Adam Lambert's last Ford music video which was based on the song "Ain’t Nothin’ Gonna Break My Stride".

Alicia Keys then came on the stage together with a Rwandan child named Noah who sang an English song "I’m the World’s Greatest" that he learned in one week. In this line, Alicia asked for donations to help prevent AIDS in Africa.

Ryan Seacrest called Danny Gokey on centerstage and talked about the song choices from last night. He told Danny to have a seat on the couch and he will get back to him in a few minutes. Ryan called Kris Allen afterwards and took the audience on his journey home this past week. To hold the suspense, Ryan sent back Kris to the sofa to sit with Danny.

American Idol Sixth season winner Jordin Sparks came out next and sang her hit single "Battle Field".

After Jordin Sparks' number, Ryan Seacrest called Adam Lambert on center stage. Just like with Danny and Kris, he showed Adam’s homecoming the past week. He also talked about Adam’s song choices and sent the rocker to the couch together with Kris and Danny.

Katy Perry came out and performed her latest song "Waking Up In Vegas". Katy was wearing a cape with Adam's name on it...her way of showing America how she adored Adam. This is actually the first time a guest artist has openly campaigned for a contestant on the show.

Ryan Seacrest then announced the first person competing next week in the finale...surprisingly, it was Kris Allen. The second name announced to go head to head with Kris in the finale is Simon's favorite Adam Lambert.

Everyone seemed shocked as Carrie Underwood’s farewell song played for Danny Gokey.

American Idol Season 8: Top 3 "Favorite Idol Songs" Performances Night

Posted by JED on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 , under | comments (0)

Watch below (click names to view performances) the performances of 3 remaining American Idol hopefuls doing their "Favorite Idol Songs" performances:

Danny Gokey - Dance Little Sister Dance by Terence Trent D’Arby

Randy Jackson: The way to jump it off tonight. Sounded good. That was dope for me.
Kara DioGuardi: This keeps you in his money spot but the dancing was a little to gyrating for me.
Paula Abdul: I think you did really good. You let that magic part of your voice carry on.
Simon Cowell: Vocally very very good. My problem was the toy saxophone solo in the middle. I think it was the wrong song.

Kris Allen - Apologize by OneRepublic

Randy Jackson: I know that right now it is about who is going to win this thing. This is the kind of artist you can be. Nice, very nice.
Kara DioGuardi: It was a confident performance but at this stage you have to be hitting it out of the park. I wanted you to make it more your own. Take more chances.
Paula Abdul: That song sits in the right place with your voice. There was a bum note there that was loud but I am proud of you.
Simon Cowell: It was the original but not quite as good.

Adam Lambert - One by U2

Randy Jackson: You are still in the zone. You have been hot since day 1. Unbelievable vocals. You are a really talented guy.
Kara DioGuardi: You are an amazing strategist. You can change up the melodies and make it unbelievable. You did your own version.
Paula Abdul: It was one brilliant song and one brilliant performance.
Simon Cowell: I thought that was a brilliant song choice. You worked out what you wanted to do with it and it was a brilliant performance.

Danny Gokey - You Are So Beautiful by Joe Cocker

Randy Jackson: You showed you are here because you can really really sing. Mad vocals.
Kara DioGuardi: Everything you didn’t do in the first performance you did here. Stunning.
Paula Abdul: You left all of us breathless. You infused your own thing into it. You nailed it.
Simon Cowell: I wouldn’t have done the same arrangement. This is a singing competition and I would call that a vocal masterclass.

Kris Allen - Heartless by Kanye West

Randy Jackson: This is gonna be one of the toughest voting nights. I like that version better than the original. You are in it to win it.
Kara DioGuardi: Why didn’t you do that with Apologize. That was brave. Perfect, the tone, the pitch.
Paula Abdul: You sang a song about Simon Cowell. This is what keeps you relevant.
Simon Cowell: I had written you out of the competition but that has changed after that performance.

Adam Lambert - Cryin by Aerosmith

Randy Jackson: You are one of the best we have ever had on this stage. You should make a rock album. You are a rock star.
Kara DioGuardi: Amazing. We will see you at the finals.
Paula Abdul: You set the bar so high in the sky. We will be seeing you next week and many years after that.
Simon Cowell: It is very easy to assume you will sail through to the final.

David Archuleta to Perform Live on SIS

American Idol Season 7 Runner-up and now a certified hitmaker David Archuleta will make his live guest appearance on SIS on May 14.

SIS prepares a grand welcome for Archuleta who arrives in the country this afternoon for his much-anticipated concert with American Idol Season 7 grand winner David Cook titled "David Cook & David Archuleta: Live in Manila" on Saturday, May 16, at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds.

Expect Archuleta to perform some of his hit songs like Crush, A Little Too Not Over You, etc. But not only that, get to know more about him as he is bound to have an hour of exclusive interview with SIS hosts Gelli de Belen, Carmina Villaroel and Janice de Belen.

Don't miss this rare chance of watching David Archuleta on the country's longest-running morning talk show, SIS, this Thursday, May 14, 10:25am on GMA-7.

David Archuleta is a Regine Velasquez Fan

The two Davids of American Idol already arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 this afternoon. David Cook arrived at around 1pm while David Archuleta, who came all the way from his singing engagement in UK, arrived at 3pm.

They are here to stage their first concert together titled "David Cook & David Archuleta: Live in Manila" on Saturday, May 16, at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds.

But before his flight to Manila, Ricky Lo (who is in Beverly Hills, California) of Philippine Star had an exclusive interview via phone with Archuleta.

Your fans in the Philippines are waiting for you.

"Oh, I’m happy to hear that. I can’t wait to go to the Philippines."

Anyway, David, what have you heard about the Philippines?

"I’ve heard that it’s very hot there."

Aside from that?

"I’ve heard that there are a lot of amazing singers from the Philippines."

Like who?

"My favorite is Regine Velasquez. She was actually the one who got me to be an even bigger fan of Mariah Carey because she was singing all those Mariah Carey songs that I’ve never heard before. ‘Wow.’ I said, ‘Regine is so good; she’s amazing’.’"

David, do you remember Ramiele Malubay, the Filipina who was with you and the other David in American Idol?

"Oh yeah, I remember her. Have you talked to her before?"

Yes, I did. That was in October last year in L.A. when I bumped into Ramiele during the concert of Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes who are popular stars in the Philippines. Ramiele didn’t perform, she only watched the concert.

"Oh, really?"

What did Ramiele tell you about the Philippines?

"Oh, not much. Ramiele was always talking to her mom in Tagalog. She taught me a few Tagalog words."

Did Ramiele make you taste Filipino food?

"No, she didn’t have a chance to do that. We didn’t have enough time to go to a Filipino restaurant."

Don’t people mistake you for the other David, or vice-versa?

"Not really. Each of us is now into his own thing although not necessarily in different worlds."

How has American Idol changed your life?

"Oh, very much! I won’t be in London now if not for American Idol. It has changed me in a way that I have never ever imagined. It has changed me so much. I went on an American Idol tour, I’m doing my own solo tour and now I’m doing my first solo album. So much in my life has changed."

And now, the girls are all over you and the other David.

"I dont’ know. It’s something that I find weird. I just think of that as people who enjoy the music. I don’t think of it as girls being all over me."

What type of girls do you find attractive?

"I like girls who can get along with people, who care about other people, who are fun and adventurous, who have a strong sense of self and who don’t put themselves down. That’s the kind of girl I am waiting for."

Oh, you’re still looking for one.

"Not that I’m looking for one. My focus now is on my career, my work, and not on girls."

David, you have been likened to Paul Anka. How do you feel about that?

"Oh, that’s cool! He’s a big star during his time, an icon up to this day. He has lasted this long and it’s an honor to be likened to him."

What can we expect from your and the other David’s concert in the Philippines?

"Everybody will have a fun time. It’s our first show together and our first time to perform in the Philippines which has a soft spot in my heart. During the American Idol, I got so much support from Filipinos. They sent me gifts and stuff like that, and I really appreciate that and am very grateful to them for that."

Do you plan to see other places in Manila?

"Do you have any suggestions?"

Well, you can visit the bars and do some girl-watching. There are a lot of beautiful girls in Manila.

"I talked to Enrique Iglesias yesterday and I couldn’t believe when he told me that he’s half-Filipino. He did tell me about the bars and stuff like that. But I’m not really the kind of person who goes to bars. I like parties but not all the time."

How do you spend your free time?

"I listen to music. It’s still music for me. I’m a music freak."

Aljur Abrenica and Kris Bernal Hit the Silverscreen with "Nandito Ako"

Posted by JED on , under | comments (1)

The nationwide daytime top-rating love team of Aljur Abrenica and Kris Bernal will now have a romantic movie from Regal Films with the working title 'Nandito Ako.'

Dubbed as the "Prince and Princess of Daytime Soap", Aljur Abrenica and Kris Bernal still couldn’t believe the success of their first major project on their mother studio GMA-7. The soap “Dapat Ka Bang Mahalin?” was able to top the daytime race not only in Mega Manila but nationwide as well. It has a record peak rating of 32.4 percent, a figure that even some primetime programs are having difficulty achieving.

Striking while the iron is hot, Mother Lily Monteverde of Regal Films is quick to give the Starstruck love team their own movie. With working title 'Nandito Ako', based from the hit love song by Ogie Alcasid, the film will be helmed by Maryo J. delos Reyes, the same director of Alkris’ Dapat Ka Bang Mahalin?

The shooting for Nandito Ako is set to begin on June 15 in Bohol. Also starring in the movie are Valeen Montenegro and the award-winning Baron Geisler.
