10 Most Beautiful Young Men in the Philippines According to Asian Journal

Monet Lu, a U.S. based Pinoy celebrity beauty stylist and salon owner, through Asian Journal (a Fil-Am community newspaper in the U.S.) has published on March 12, 2009 her own list of the 10 Most Beautiful Young Men in the Philippines.

Here's Asian Journal's 10 Most Beautiful Pinoy Young Men along with the descriptions given by Monet Lu:

1. Piolo Pascual
A leading man through and through. This enigmatic, charming, handsome and talented actor is in a league of his own. He has the entire package -- a sensitive actor, a good-mannered gentleman and a spiritual person. He’s multifaceted and well-balanced. For his adoring fans, he can do no wrong. He chooses good roles and projects; a credible and indemand product endorser. He’s very well respected and sought after in the industry. He is one of those who most likely will achieve legendary status in Philippine cinema.

2. Richard Gutierrez
GMA’s golden boy. He fluidly transitioned from teeny bopper characters into more mature, age-appropriate roles. An impeccable dresser to boot. Richard, with his mestizo good looks and commendable work ethic, continues to make a dent in the entertainment industry. He’s very likable because of his down-to-earth nature. He continues to unleash the kilig factor among his female fanbase.

3. Sam Milby
Very simply put, this young man is tall, dark and handsome. Need I say more?

4. Dingdong Dantes
That he made it as a frontrunner on E!’s Sexiest Men really says so much about his global popularity. He is not only popular among his fans but he’s also well-liked by his peers in the industry. A versatile actor and multi-talented in other levels of production, this young man has barely scatched the surface of his potential.

5. Gerald Anderson
As a former PBB housemate and currently the male lead in a popular soap opera, Gerald commands loyalty among his audience. Perhaps it’s his talent and his clean, comely looks. Whatever it is, they keep on coming back for more of Gerald.

6. Jake Cuenca (tie)
One of the most fascinating young actors in showbiz today. His good looks and well-acted roles in popular TV shows have endeared him to many loyal fans.

6. Luis Manzano (tie)
Shedding his childhood moniker "Lucky" popularized by his famous mom, Luis has come into his own as an entertainment persona. His toned body always draws some compliments but it’s also his promise as a TV host and budding actor that fascinate his audience.

7. Jericho Rosales
His dark complexion and cute smile have serious mass appeal. Jericho is a very gifted actor who can embody varying screen roles in steep degrees of difficulty but all the while makes it look so easy.

8. John Lloyd Cruz
He’s got the "boy-next-door" look that still captivate many fans. A fine actor who’s had great commercial success in the box office.

9. JC de Vera
Another GMA star who’s fast becoming a Pantasya ng Bayan. He has the face that refreshes!

10. Derek Ramsay
Ruggedly handsome, Derek has managed to steal the hearts of many girls and gays. He has the presence of a lion but the heart of a teddy bear. His followers looove his bronze godliness.

ABS-CBN Answers UPLB's Call to Correct Storyline of Angel Locsin's MMK Episode

Posted by JED on , under , , , , | comments (4)

ABS-CBN has just released a statement regarding the controversial "Blusa" episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK).

It will be remembered that ever since the episode was aired, alumni of University of the Philippines (UP) have reacted adversely to the said life story shown on MMK. In fact, officials of UP Los Baños (UPLB) issued a statement saying that they do not have an alumna that matches the life story presented by MMK. (Read related story here)

In response to the call of UPLB officials for ABS-CBN to "set the record straight," its Corporate Communications department has issued the following statement (published as is):

"Storytelling in Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK) is always based on narratives sent to the program by people who want to share their stories. MMK decides to go into production of the chosen stories, ONLY after the letter sender has signed a waiver attesting to the authenticity of the story sent.

"MMK recognizes that a number of UPLB alumni are questioning the truthfulness of one letter sender who claims that her sister, the main character in 'Blusa' essayed by Ms. Angel Locsin, was indeed a UPLB BS AgriBusiness, summa cum laude graduate, who could not find a job and ended up as a stripper.

"When MMK found out about the adverse reactions, the MMK production group went back to the letter sender to inform her of the issue raised and to re-verify her account. She reiterated that she stands by her story.

"Be that as it may, and after careful deliberation, MMK realizes that its writing and research pool may have been remiss in one thing—verifying with UPLB the veracity of the indicated facts of the letter sender. Having said that, MMK sincerely apologizes for the oversight.

"MMK always aims for truth and excellence. This incident may have deviated from its tight norm, but rest assured that MMK will continue to serve its publics with utmost care and respect."

JC de Vera Stays with GMA-7

Posted by JED on , under , , | comments (3)

It's final! JC de Vera will stay a Kapuso.

GMA Network, through its Corporate Communications, released an official statement earlier today, March 9, about JC de Vera's status as a Kapuso artist. Read below:

"Atty. Felipe Gozon together with Annette Gozon Abrogar met with Ms. Annabelle Rama regarding the issue of the contract of JC de Vera. In the meeting, Atty. Gozon explained to Ms. Rama that the option to renew JC de Vera's contract was with the Network. Ms. Rama understood and said that JC de Vera wants to stay in GMA long term and he just wants to be assured of GMA's support for his career.

"Atty. Gozon told Ms. Rama that JC de Vera had the support of the station in the past and that there has been no change in this support. Ms. Rama agreed to accept the roles that will be assigned to JC by the Network. As previously planned, JC will soon be appearing in a Sine Novela in GMA's Sine Novela timeslot.

"Atty. Gozon explained to Annabelle Rama that in the issue of casting talents, if there are any concerns from the talents themselves or their managers, they can always reason out with the Network and the Network will listen to what they have to say. The final decision, however, shall always rest with the Network. Ms. Rama agreed with Atty. Gozon's point.
"With regard to Ms. Rama's allegations againt Ms. Galvante, SVP of GMA Network, Atty. Gozon told Ms. Rama that he cannot stop Ms. Galvante if she decides to file a case against Annabelle Rama in her personal capacity. He asked Ms. Rama to try to refrain from further speaking about these issues. He also told Ms. Rama that he would similarly request Ms. Galvante to do the same.

"Atty. Gozon affirms that GMA-7 is a professional organization and that it lives up to one of its core values that its people are its best assets."

JC, who will be having his 23rd birthday celebration tonight (his actual birthday is on March 10) at Barrakz Bar in Tomas Morato, Quezon City, where he is also a part-owner, said he is very very happy to know that he is still a Kapuso, "Sabi ko na nga ba eh. Now I have reason to celebrate." said an overwhelmed JC.
