In the final stunt called El Último Duelo, Jommy Teotico and Janna Dominguez must drive a car very fast towards a slanted ramp which causes the car to flip over. The stunt is called Volcando el Auto (Car Roll Over). The one who lands the car farthest from the starting line becomes the El Último Participante.

Annabelle Rama's Word War with Wilma Galvante Over JC de Vera

Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

Hummphh!!!!"

THE STORY CONFERENCE.

Conducting the said story conference were Ms. Redgie Magno, Senior Program Manager, and Ms. Lilybeth G. Rasonable, AVP for Drama. Naroroon po ang ibang mga Kapuso talents na gaganap din sa istorya. Nakita ko sina Marvin Agustin, Bianca King, Maxene Magalona na kasama ang mom niya [Pia Magalona].

"Ms. Wilma Galvante did not attend the meeting and was just in her office, adjacent to the concept room.

"After a few minutes, Redgie and Lilybeth entered the office of Ma'am Wilma saying that JC was crying. They said Joseph Boncalan, Obra's EP [executive producer] got a call from Annabelle Rama saying that she was pulling out JC from Obra. Redgie asked JC if he was aware of this. JC said, 'Wala po akong alam.'

"So Redgie said, 'Mukhang hindi mo muna gagawin ang Obra. Mag-usap muna kayo ng manager mo.' This was when JC broke down and told them, 'Hiyang-hiya na po ako sa mga write-up na lumalabas. Nahihiya na nga rin ako kay Ma'am Wilma, gusto ko nga siya na kausapin kaya lang, nahihiya ako.'

"This was when they asked JC to go to Ma'am Wilma's office so the other people will not hear nor see him crying."

WILMA GALVANTE'S SIDE.

"We talked only for a few minutes. I asked him how he was and he said he was sorry for everything that is happening. Hindi raw niya gustong umalis sa GMA at masaya siya dito, pero hindi niya alam ang mga plano sa kanya ng manager niya at natatakot siya.

"I told him that we cannot interfere with his contract with his manager but what we can do is implement our contract with him. And that he will always have a place in this network. When I said that, he started to cry again.

"That's when I got a text message from Annabelle. Di ko na sasabihin ang laman ng text kasi puros pambabastos lang at pagmumura. Di talaga maganda. JC said he also received a text message just then. And then he cried again.

"Apparently, may kasamang alalay si JC na naiwan sa labas. Siya ang kumausap kay Annabelle sa phone at sinabing pinasok ni Redgie at Lilybeth si JC sa office ko. Kasalukuyang nasa labas din si Kuya Germs [German Moreno] kaya naririnig niya ang mga nangyayari.

"Malinaw na walang nangyaring pananakot kay JC. He was very much aware that the story conference was for Obra and he was not forced nor coerced to come here.

Dagdag ni Angel, "Ma'am Wilma also said that she and Ms. Annabelle Rama never discussed about lending JC to Nurserye and that she only knew of this through Tito Alfie's column today.

"Furthermore, the network has sent a letter to JC which he received and signed last January 2009 wherein the network expressed renewal of his contract until March 2010 based on item 4.5 of his original contract that says TALENT grants to GMA the exclusive and irrevocable option to renew this Contract for a period of one (1) year under the same terms and conditions. The agreement is deemed renewed upon the service by GMA of a written notice of renewal to the Talent prior to the expiration of this contract.

"Ms. Annabelle Rama was also sent a copy of said letter."

Heart Evangelista Answers Back Reminder Letter Issued by GMA-7

Annabelle Rama sent a letter to GMA Network in response to the reminder letter (read article here) issued by the TV station to her talent Heart Evangelista.

Here is the content of letter sent through Atty. Agnes Maranan of Rivera Santos and Maranan Law Offices on February 18, 2009:

"Gentlemen:

"For and behalf of our client, Ms. Annabelle Rama-Gutierrez, we reply to your letter dated 10 February 2009 addressed to Ms. Love Marie Ongpauco a.k.a Heart Evangelista, copy furnished to Ms. Gutierrez as manager of said contract artist.

"Firstly, our client has instructed us to correct the allegation in your letter that Ms. Ongpauco's managers were turning down a program assigned to her by GMA because of restrictions in her endorsement contract with Centrum.

"During the meeting with GMA representatives, Ms. Ongpauco's managers, including our client, did turn down the network's proposal to have Ms. Ongpauco appear in the television series "Muling Buksan Ang Puso", but their refusal was based NOT on any contract restriction imposed by Centrum, but because the role offered would adversely damage and prejudice Ms. Ongpauco's public image and reputation.

"Ms. Ongpauco is only 23 years old, and enjoys a reputation for appearing in wholesome, family-oriented roles and programs. The role offered by GMA could hardly be described as "wholesome." It would include kissing scenes, bed scenes, dialogue and scenes depicting the proposed character as a mature woman competing with another for the affections of a man. In short, the role was perceived by Ms. Ongpauco's managers as being too mature for their artist. If this role was accepted, it would tarnish her image with her fan base, and would ultimately prejudice her highly-successful career.

"Indeed, Ms. Ongpauco's managers were disappointed and upset that GMA was willing to risk their artist's career and reputation on such a controversial role. Ms. Ongpauco is one of the lead artists in "Luna Mystika," a top-rated, primetime and very wholesome television program. GMA should have known, or at the very least should have considered, that having Ms. Ongpauco appear in a role in direct contrast to her current show would not be well received by the viewing public.

"We reiterate and underscore therefore that your representatives clearly misrepresented the deliberations, since the mature nature of the offered role was the principal reason for its rejection.

"Secondly, we have reviewed Ms. Ongpauco's contract with GMA, and take this opportunity to highlight issues in relation to specific contractual terms:

"a. On the obligations of the Talent detailed in Paragraph 2 and its sub-paragraphs: These paragraphs clearly spell out the projects that the Talent would be assigned in the first year, and these were limited to: (I) Lead actress role in "Asero", (II) Lead actress in "Saan Darating Ang Umaga", (III) Lead actress in a Koreanovela, (IV) Host/performer of SOP, and (V), guestings in programs and specials.

"The contract was executed on 30 May 2008, hence the parties are still in the first year of the contract. The role that was offered and refused was not among the projects that the Talent agreed to do in the first year. Further, it is GMA that has not complied with the contractual terms, since Ms. Ongpauco was not the lead actress in "Saan Darating Ang Umaga", nor has she been given the Koreanovela project. It is our client who must now insist that GMA comply with its obligation to have Ms. Ongpauco appear as lead actress in a Koreanovela series.

"b. Taping days and hours: Paragraph 3.6 of the talent contract provides that Ms. Ongpauco's taping day would be only up to 3:00 am per day.

"Records will confirm that this provision was violated on several occassions, with taping days running as late as 8:00 0r 9:00 am, hence an excess of as much as six ( 6 ) hours on taping days. In a letter dated 04 February 2009 addressed to GMA's Ms. Sally de Castro, Ms. Ongpauco's manager Ma. Cecilia Ongpauco called the network's attention to the fact that the Talent was being made to work beyond the 3:00 am deadline with no overtime pay paid, and Ms. Cecilia Ongpauco provided documents evidencing the release of the Talent beyond the contracted deadline on numerous taping days.

"For and or behalf of our client, we reiterate the demand for payment of overtime pay, and further, put the network on notice that paragraph 3.6 of the contract is being continuously violated.

"c. Endorsement agreements - The contract does not bar or restrict the Talent from endorsing products, neither does it require the Talent to furnish GMA with a copy of endorsements agreements. Hence, Ms. Ongpauco has absolutely no legal obligation to furnish the network with a copy of any contract which she may have executed to promote specific products or services.

"We trust that this reply sufficiently addresses the issues and concerns you raised in your letter dated 10 February 2009. Thank you for your attention."

GMA Network Issues Reminder Letter to Heart Evangelista

GMA-7 through its VP for Legal Affairs Atty. Dick Perez, issued a reminder letter to Heart Evangelista (Love Marie Ongpauco in real life) due to Annabelle Rama's (Heart's Manager) decision to turn down an afternoon soap titled "Sine Novela Presents: Muling Buksan ang Puso" which supposedly his first team-up with Actor Dennis Trillo.

According to Heart, aside from its afternoon timeslot, it will interfere with her Centrum endorsement contract which states that she cannot accept a mother role in any of her movie and TV projects.

Below is the copy of reminder letter sent to Heart on February 10, 2009:

"Dear Ms. Ongpauco,

"This pertains to the agreement for talent services between you and GMA Network. We were informed that your managers are turning down a program assigned by GMA to you owing to some alleged restrictions contained in your endorsement contract with Centrum.

"May we remind you of relevant provisions of the Agreement, as follows:

"1. Talent hereby warrants and represents that: (a) she has full power and authority to enter into and perform this agreement; and ( b) she has no other contract with any other person, firm, corporation or other entity which will or might interfere with the execution or performance of this agreement (Emphasis: ours).

4.2. In case of breach by TALENT af any provision of this Agreement or of any of Talent's warranties and representations, GMA may in addition to and without prejudice to any other remedy, recover liquidated damages from TALENT in the amount equivalent to TALENT's Minimum Guarantee for the first year (Php15M) of this Agreement.

"We have not been furnished a copy of the Centrum contract. If such restrictions do exist, and if you cannot perform the talent services for the program assigned to you because of such restrictions, you would be in clear breach of your warranty under the Agreement. In that event, we shall proceed to avail of legal remedies in order to protect our interests. We trust you will understand our position on this matter."

Martin Nievera Releases New Album Titled "For Always"

Martin Nievera marks his 27th year in the music industry with an all-covers album titled "For Always". The Concert King is set to bring listeners a string of timeless classics from the ‘80s to the ‘90s with his new album from PolyEast Records.

Just recently, Martin was reunited with the Concert Queen, Pops Fernandez, for a one-night event at the Araneta Coliseum titled Missing You.

Aside from performing together for this much-anticipated reunion concert, the two recently collaborated with each other for the song "Reunited." This is just one of the 15 songs included in Martin's new album, which was formally launched with a press conference earlier today, February 17.

For Always has the carrier single "Maybe This Time," which is a Michael Murphy song about two friends who meet again. Martin's soothing voice gives life to the love-is-sweeter-the-second-time-around hit that became popular during the ‘80s.

This album features Martin's own rendition of songwriter-singer Richard Marx's "Now and Forever" as well as a very familiar song titled "All My Life" from legendary group America. Listen, ponder and sing along with Martin's revival of the songs "Old Photographs" popularized by Jim Capaldi; "All At Once," a Whitney Houston hit; "Sometimes When We Touch" by Dan Hill; "I'll Always Love You" by Michael Jansen and all-time favorite Peter Cetera hit "After All." Two songs come from Bryan Adams: "Heaven" and the anthemic "(Everything I Do) I Do It For You." Not to be missed is Martin's interpretation of Rick Price's "Heaven Knows" and Eric Benet's "The Last Time."

Take a trip down memory lane with Martin Nievera and take time to read of the liner notes in this album where he shares a personal thought about every song.

"When I Met U" Grossed 75.58 Million Pesos on its 1st Week

GMA Films and Regal Entertainment's Valentine offering 'When I Met U' ended its first week run with a whopping 75.58 million pesos according to Box Office Mojo.

The Richard Gutierrez and KC Concepcion starrer opened amazingly in SM City North EDSA cinema with an estimated 1.3 million pesos, marked the second biggest opening day income of all time next to Star Cinema's 'Ang Tanging Ina N’yong Lahat'.

In the weekend-gross report, however, When I Met U has reportedly earned 32.46 million pesos. It is not clear however if the figure represents Friday to Sunday gross or if opening day on Wednesday and Thursday gross were included.

GMA Films reported earlier that the movie earned 25 million pesos on Valentines Day alone. This means that the possible first week gross of the movie is in the 70M to 80M bracket. Thus, the total gross-to-date according to Box Office Mojo is $1,598,750 or P75.58 M.

In comparison to Richard and KC’s first movie “For the First Time”, When I Met U is significantly behind because the Star Cinema movie registered 78.9 million pesos on its first 5 days.

Kapuso Shows Still Dominate the Daytime and Primetime Mega Manila Ratings for Feb. 13 - 16

Posted by JED on , under | comments (2)

Five new shows debuted yesterday, February 16; three from GMA-7 and two from ABS-CBN.

From the Kapuso network, the shows that premiered yesterday were Sine Novela Presents Paano Ba ang Mangarap?, which reunites the pair of Jennylyn Mercado and Mark Herras with Hero Angeles; the subbed original Argentinian series Lalola; and the new Taiwanese romantic series Fated To Love You.

ABS-CBN, on the other hand, had the new morning talk show Ruffa and Ai hosted by Ruffa Gutierrez and Ai-Ai delas Alas, and the primetime showbiz talk show SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon, hosted by the tandem of Boy Abunda and Kris Aquino. Boy and Kris used to host the daily show Boy & Kris, which was replaced by Ruffa and Ai.

Paano Ba ang Mangarap? placed third in the daytime race on its pilot episode with 21.9 percent; behind leaders Saan Darating ang Umaga? (a whopping 28.1 percent!) and Eat Bulaga! (23.2 percent).

Lalola, which took the timeslot of the Mexicanovela Rosalinda, took the sixth spot with 14.7 percent; behind fourth-placer Daisy Siete (18 percent) and fifth-placer Wowowee (15.5 percent).

Although Ruffa and Ai failed to squeeze in the Top 10, it slightly edged out rival show SiS. The pilot episode of Ruffa and Ai got 8.8 percent while SiS posted a rating of 8.7 percent.

SNN, which acquired a 26.2 percent rating on its premiere, managed to take the No. 8 spot in the primetime race where six shows reached the 30-plus mark. These are Luna Mystika (37 percent), Ang Babaeng Hinugot Sa Aking Tadyang (33.2 percent), Gagambino (32.4 percent), May Bukas Pa (31.6 percent), 24 Oras (30.3 percent), and Tayong Dalawa (30.3 percent).

Three other Kapamilya shows occupied the rest of the Top 10: I Love Betty La Fea (No. 7), TV Patrol World (No. 9), and Pinoy Fear Factor (22.6 percent).

Overall, Kapuso shows still dominate the daytime and primetime race. Luna Mystika, Saan Darating ang Umaga?, and Eat Bulaga! leading the pack among weekday programs while SOP, Mel & Joey, Imbestigador, and Eat Bulaga! were the topraters among weekend shows.

Showbiz News Ngayon (SNN) Featured Willie Revillame's P70-M Yacht

One of the featured segment in Showbiz News Ngayon (SNN) pilot episode last Monday night was Willie Revillame’s P70 million luxury yacht.

The Wowowee host toured Kris Aquino inside his 94-footer yacht named M/Y Wow Cruiser. Willie bought the yacht 6 months ago costing between P50 million to P70 million.

The M/Y Wow Cruiser has four rooms in the lower deck including a master’s bedroom, elegant comfort room and shower room and a living room complete with entertainment amenities. Kris Aquino was highly impressed on every part of the yacht that she saw, most specially when she learned that the yacht runs in auto-pilot.

Apparently, there is a part 2 of the exclusive SNN interview wherein Kris Aquino asked Willie if he’s already worth P1 billion pesos and if he is indeed the highest-paid entertainer in the country. The answer will be revealed tonight on Showbiz News Ngayon, after Tayong Dalawa.
