Posted by JED on Saturday, February 14, 2009 , under , , , | comments (0)

ABS-CBN's Sunday youth drama "Your Song Presents" will again feature the love tandem of Matt Evans and Melissa Ricks in the remake of the 80’s movie Underage.

Matt and Melissa said that they will be taking on more mature roles in their new drama mini-series. However, they clarified that the TV version will not be as sexy as the original film. "This is different. Magpapakita kami ng konting skin. This is another step na naman. Kung baga inuunti unti na namin ‘yung paggawa ng more mature roles. We’re not kids anymore na rin. Yes, we’re still teenagers but we’re going into the transition of becoming adults na. May ilang sensitive scenes dito kaya ‘yun ang pinaghahandaan namin," said Melissa.

Underage will be the initial offering of Your Song Presents on their new and re-package theme genre - the adaptation of some well loved Pinoy flicks from the 80’s.

Underage was released by Regal Films in 1980 and became the launching movie then teen sensations Dina Bonnevie, Snooky Serna, and Maricel Soriano. Melissa will be playing the role done by Dina in the movie, "Malaki ang pressure. I’ll be playing the role done by Dina Bonnevie so I really have to get to know the character. It’s very challenging. Pero excited din kami lahat because we get to give Underage a different a twist dito sa gagawin namin."

JC de Vera Soon To Be a Kapamilya?

Posted by JED on Friday, February 13, 2009 , under , , | comments (0)

In the past few years, JC de Vera has established himself as one of the most promising new talents in a series of TV dramas on GMA -7 which has discovered and groomed him. He showed his versatility in the four-episode Obra in which he played four different, challenging roles and easily acquitted himself.

His last soap was Lalola as the leading man of Rhian Ramos.

His contract with GMA is expiring on March but no news yet on what will be his next project.

According to Philstar's Funfare, JC is turning Kapamilya soon. Heard that his first assignment with ABS-CBN will be a soap with Judy Ann Santos, to be followed by another one with Shaina Magdayao.

"I have no idea sa plano ni Tita Annabelle dahil sa March pa mag-i-end ang contract ko sa GMA-7. Personally, ayokong lumipat. Para sa akin, dito ako nakilala at ayokong hindi maging loyal sa GMA-7. Sila ang nag-buildup sa akin at ayokong ibang network ang makinabang sa pagbi-buildup sa akin.

Anuman ang maging desisyon ni Tita Annabelle, rerespetuhin ko. May work pa naman yata ako kahit ilipat ako." according to JC.

Annabelle Rama [his manager] still remained mum about the issue.

Has Ruffa Gutierrez Found a New Love in John Faizad?

Posted by JED on , under , | comments (0)

Since she broke up with Yilmaz Bektas, Ruffa Gutierrez hasn’t been seen (that is, caught on camera) with a most probable date — until three weeks ago, that is.

According to Funfare’s Agent Olca, Ruffa was introduced by a mutual friend to a dashing 6’2" Polish-Persian-American named John Faizad who got so smitten with Ruffa that he followed her to L.A. John, 30, is said to be working in an entertainment- consulting firm. Like Ruffa, he just got out of a seven-year committed relationship and is, well, searching. During a dinner with friends at Sky Car on Sunset Boulevard in L.A., John was “over-protective” toward Ruffa.

But in an interview with Funfare yesterday for her and Ai-Ai delas Alas’ new daily show on ABS-CBN, Ruffa & Ai (which premieres on Monday, Feb. 16, 10:15 a.m., Ruffa insisted that she is loveless (while the divorce case between her and Yilmaz is pending).

"I have no time for love," she said. "I’m busy. Monday to Friday, I go live for Ruffa & Ai. Evenings, also Monday to Friday, I’m seen on I Love Betty La Fea and on Sundays I’m on The Buzz. I devote my free days to my daughters (Lorin and Venice) who I sometimes bring with me to the set."

Kristine Hermosa and Diether Ocampo Marriage Declared Annuled

Kristine Hermosa’s marriage in 2004 to Diether Ocampo has been declared null and void by the Court of Appeals (CA).

It can be recalled that Kristine initially filed the annulment of her marriage to Diether on June 21, 2005. She argued that a marriage certificate was not given during the marriage ceremony that was solemnized by Mayor Antonio Esquivel on September 21, 2004 in Jaen, Nueva Ecija.

In the nine-page decision written by CA Second Division Associate Justice Sesinando Villalon, it was explained that the 25-year-old actress gave sufficient documentary and testimonial evidence to prove that a marriage certificate was not issued.

The CA added that the absence of the primary requisites is a vital element to prove the marriage between two persons. It also clarified that the one year and one month marriage of Diether and Kristine has been invalid ever since.

A part of the decision read: "The absence of any of the essential or formal requisites shall render the marriage void ab initio. It is a Hornbook doctrine that findings of the facts of trial courts are entitled to great weight on appeal and should not be disturbed except for strong and valid reasons."

Meanwhile, the appellate court also junked the request of the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) to reverse the decision of the Makati City Regional Trial Branch 136 on March 31, 2006, which also declared the union of the two Kapamilya actors null and void.

Can their love stand this test? Find out when this co-production of Star Cinema and Viva Films opens on February 25, 2009.

"In No Way Was I Making Fun of Any Ethnicity!" - Miley Cyrus on Racist Photo Scandal

Posted by JED on , under , , | comments (0)

Miley Cyrus says sorry for her 'Hanoi Montana' photo scandal.

It will be remembered that OCA — a group dedicated to advancing the social, political and economic well-being of Asian Pacific Americans — expressed their disappointment with this photo of Miley with boyfriend Justin Gaston and some other friends for using what they have deemed an offensive, stereotypical gesture:

The 16-year-old teen superstar responded by posting this entry on MileyWorld:

"I can’t believe all of the silly STUFF that has been put out in the press this week! It really makes me sad that people want to tear other people down just for the sake of magazine sells and hits on websites! Unfortunately, it seems like BAD is what sells!

"I’ve also been told there are some people upset about some pictures taken of me with friends making goofy faces! Well, I’m sorry if those people looked at those pics and took them wrong and out of context! In NO way was I making fun of any ethnicity! I was simply making a goofy face. When did that become newsworthy? It seems someone is trying to make something out of nothing to me. If that would of been anyone else, it would of been overlooked! I definitely feel like the press is trying to make me out as the new ‘BAD GIRL’! I feel like now that Britney [Spears] is back on top of her game again, they need someone to pick on! Lucky me! Anyway, I just wanted to let you guys know what is on my heart. You guys know me and have been by my side every step of the way!

"You guys know my heart and know the most important things to me are my friends, family, fans, and GOD! In NO WAY do I want to disappoint any of you! But, when I have made mistakes in the past, I feel like I’ve owned up to them and apologized. Anyway, I really wish everyone would stop focusing on my personal life and get back to focusing on what I love! Music and Acting! Hopefully, I will be touring again this fall! Yayy! =] It will be a nice change to be back out on the road again! xoxo Blessings.. Miley"

And days after that, Rin on the Rox finally appeared on Ellen show. And what's the best gift to give a die-hard music lover like 'Rin on the Rox'? - tickets to watch the Grammy Awards courtesy of Ellen.
