The creative team of "Dayo" consulted published literature on local mythology. The main reference is the book Creatures of Philippine Lower Mythology by Maximo Ramos.
"Dayo" aims to reintroduce the other side of mythical creatures like the tikbalang, kapre, manananggal, and aswang by giving a new dimension to these usual reviled creatures. "They are normally presented as predators or portrayed as villains," explains director Robert Quilao. "We created a new twist to these characters by transforming the scary manananggal into the friendly manananggol (defender) who acts as the guardian of Elementalia."
"Dayo" is a hybrid product of combining 2D and 3D animation, powered by Toon Boom using Macintosh and Linux platforms. 2D animation is used for the characters while 3D animation is used for the backgrounds especially for the big scenes.
Synopsis: "Dayo" is a heartwarming story of overcoming one's fear and triumphing over adversity. It centers on the 11-year-old Bubuy (voiced by Nash Aguas) who is out to save his abducted grandparents in the land of Elementalia, a magical and mystical world that houses many of the Philippines' mythical creatures and other enchanted elements. Along the way, Bubuy meets Anna Manananggirl (voiced by Katrina Legaspi), a teen manananggal (a winged creature that can separate her torso from her lower body) who befriends and helps Bubuy in his quest to rescue his grandparents.

Charisse Yacapin Voted Off "Survivor Philippines"; It's Rob Sy vs. JC Tiuseco For the Title of Pinoy Sole Survivor
This scenario transpired when Rob voted off product officer Charisse Yacapin in tonight's Tribal Council. Rob was the only one who voted tonight after winning the last Immunity Challenge, another endurance challenge where the three remaining castaways had to hold on as long as they could to a platform that slides at a given time.
Technically, it was Rob's first win in the Immunity Challenge. The first time he wore the Immunity necklace was when JC gave it to him after choosing the reward—a brand-new car—instead. Aside from two individual Immunities, Rob also won two reward challenges.
Although JC is considered as the strongest player in the game, he actually won only one individual Immunity—after giving one Immunity to Rob—and two reward challenges.
By voting off Charisse, Rob chose to sit beside JC in the final Tribal Council, where the Jury gets to ask them any question that will help them decide who gets the P3-million cash prize and the title of the first-ever Pinoy Sole Survivor.
Charisse became the 16th person to be voted off and the 8th and final member of the Jury. The other members of the Jury are Cris Cartagenas, Zita Ortiga, Kaye Alipio, Marlon Carmen, Vern Domingo, Kiko Rustia, and Jace Flores.
Rob's decision to choose JC over Charisse came as a surprise since many think that he has a better chance of winning against Charisse, especially since many of the Jury members don't like him that much. But Rob stayed true to his alliance with JC and brought him to the final Tribal Council and a shot of winning Survivor Philippines.
Charisse, who won one individual Immunity, accepted her fate wholeheartedly and even wished Rob and JC good luck.
The winner of Survivor Philippines will be announced live this Friday, December 12.
Jose landed the farthest from the Pinoy Fear Factor logo after being dragged by a speeding vehicle along a "line of fire." He miscalculated and let go from the vehicle too late, causing him to go way past the target.
Surprisingly, LJ defeated the two guys of the "Pump Squad" by landing only 1 meter and 5 centimeters away from the logo; while Jommy and Jose landed 1 meter 50 centimeters, and 4 meters 30 centimeters, respectively.

StarStruck is now less than one, literally and figuratively, dahil sa pagpanaw ni Marky Cielo, the third Ultimate Male Survivor and the first and only Ultimate Sole Survivor.
Marky's wake was the most heartbreaking StarStruck reunion ever.
And now the sad news...
Kapuso young actor Marky Cielo died at dawn today, according to a confirmed report. Doctors are still investigating the cause of Marky's death, but an acute hemorrhagic pancreatitis is also being considered.
An initial report says that Marky died in his sleep. His mother went up to his room in their house in Antipolo City around 6 a.m. to wake him up for a charity event. But he never woke up.
According to Marky's father, Mr. Bobby Cielo, Marky's mother and sister Marcel Andrea knocked down Marky's door when no answer came from him. They found Marky lying on the floor.
They immediately rushed Marky to the Antipolo Doctors Hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival at around 10 a.m. today.
Marky was a product of GMA-7's StarStruck Batch 3, where he won as the Ultimate Sole Survivor. He was the first Igorot to join the popular reality-based artista search. Among his batchmates were Iwa Moto, Jackie Rice, and Gian Carlo.
After winning in StarStruck, he appeared in several GMA-7 shows which included Encantadia, Fantastikids, Bakekang, Asian Treasures, Boys Next Door, Kaputol ng Isang Awit, and Codename: Asero. But he was best known as Zaido Green in Zaido: Pulis Pangkalawakan.
He was also a mainstay of the musical-variety show SOP and in the primetime series La Lola.
Marky's remains lies at their house in Mission Hills, Antipolo, where a wake will be held for two days. After this, Marky's family plans to bring the young actor's remains to Bontoc, Mountain Province, where he grew up.
Marky was 20 years old.
May your soul rest in peace, Marky+

On Saturday night, if l’il Manny Pacquaio, who will be outweighed by a good dozen pounds when the bell rings at the MGM Grand, manages to take out Oscar De La Hoya, his upset win would surpass all others in the Boxing Year 2008. Is this likely? Pundits, and vocal share of derisive fight fans, think Oscar will win handily. Too big, too strong, too much reach and height for The Golden Boy. TSS has been surprised at the vehemence of fans writing in, wondering why this “Dream” match has been made, or more accurately, skewering the bout as nothing more than a cynical cash grab by the promoters and participants. They see it as a novelty pairing, something along the lines of an Evil Knievel bus jump.
But what if Pacquaio (47-3-2, 35 KOs, enjoying an eight fight win streak) manages to make Oscar (39-5, 30 KOs, 3-3 in his last six outings, 2-3 if you give Sturm the nod in their 2004 tussle) look every hour of his 35 ¾ years, and uses his handspeed edge to do the unthinkable?
What if that weight disparity is erased by a motivation edge? Manny does after all have a nation of 90 million at his back, lifting him up, serving as a catalyst to endure when the larger man’s left hooks are banging off his skull, rattling him, and making him yearn for the relative comfort of the lightweight division.
What if his southpaw stance throws Oscar off his game; that’s not a spectacular reach, since the last time ODLH met a lefty in a real scrap was back in 1997 (Hector Camacho).
