Piolo Pascual and Angel Locsin are Considered Legally Adoptive Children of Bukidnon

Dubbed as the "Home of the country's finest cowboys," the Impasug-ong municipality of Bukidnon can also be considered the new home of adoptive children Piolo Pascual and Angel Locsin.

According to the official website of ABS-CBN, Piolo, Angel, and Direk Rory Quintos are legally adopted children of the first class municipality located in the northeastern part of Bukidnon. The adoption ceremony involved a bonfire, native costumes, and chants performed by the datus or royalty of Bukidnon.

They have recently finished taping for the Star Cinema movie tentatively titled The Land Down Under. The action flick, which features cowboys in Northern Mindanao, will also highlight cowboys from Australia, hence the title of the movie.

Piolo is very enthusiastic about this movie, which he describes as: "a love story and you will see a lot of backdrop na mga bundok at may outback pa ng Australia."

Angel is equally grateful for being given this chance to work on her first movie with Star Cinema.

After shooting their scenes in Mindanao, Angel and Piolo are to proceed to Darwin, Australia to continue filming their first movie together, which is slated to open in cinemas nationwide this November.

Survivor Philippines Update: Vevherly Gador is the Sixth Person to Leave Survivor Philippines

Farmer's daughter Vevherly Gador became the sixth person to leave Survivor Philippines. In an episode last Friday night, October 10, Vevherly was voted out unanimously by her fellow Naak tribemates.

Even before the Tribal Council, Vevherly already knew that she would be the one to go home because of the "alliance" among her tribemates. She vented her disappointment with tribemate Kaye Alipio and told her that she felt betrayed.

Vevherly also suffered an injury during the last Immunity Challenge, but she refused her tribemates' offer to look at her wound.

After the Immunity Challenge, host Paolo Bediones revealed the "twist" that he announced before the challenge. The Naak tribe, who lost in the challenge, would have to leave their camp and find another one where they will build a new shelter.

Naak member Kiko Rustia was kidnapped by the Jarakay tribe as a consequence of losing the last Reward Challenge. He was also not allowed to participate in the Immunity Challenge and help his tribemates.

Before going back to his tribe, Kiko thanked the Jarakay tribe and settled his differences with Jace Flores and Marlon Carmen whom he had issues before. He returned to the Naak tribe just in time for the Tribal Council. But he was not able to vote and he cannot be voted off.

During the Tribal Council, Paolo announced another "twist." At that point, the Jarakay tribe joined the Tribal Council to observe Naak's Tribal Council.

Paolo asked the Naak tribemates who among the Jarakay members are the strongest and the one they want to be chained with.

Vevherly received all the votes from her tribemates while she voted Rob.

In her exit interview, Vevherly asked the remaining Naak tribemates not to bring their game to the real world.

Vevherly has now joined other Survivor Philippines castoff: Chev Macias, Emerson Diño, Gigit Sulit, and Patani Daño. Niña Ortiz was forced to leave the game before the last Immunity Challenge because of her fractured toe.

Four of the country’s top divas — the "Pop Diva" Kuh Ledesma, the "Divine Diva" Zsa Zsa Padilla, the "Concert Queen" Pops Fernandez, and "Asia's Songbird" Regine Velasquez will be together on the same stage for the biggest concert of the year titled “Divas 4 Divas.”

The said concert took nearly five years to plan. “It took so long because of so many obstacles. Almost all of us naman are doing shows abroad kaya ang hirap mahanapan ng schedules. Kung kelan nandito ang tatlo, may isa naman na wala for many months. So, mahirap talaga to gather all of us together.

Napag-usapan na namin ang magiging concept ng concert and everybody agrees on the outcome of the show. Kaya excited na kaming simulan ang rehearsals." said Kuh Ledesma.

The concert will be on December 6, Saturday 8:30PM at the Araneta Coliseum. Divas 4 Divas tickets are available at Music Museum (721-0635 and 721-6726), Headline Concepts (551-7253, 551-7255) and TicketNet (911-5555).

Philippine Bossa Queen Sitti Navarro introduces Ngayong Pasko, her first Christmas album under Warner Music Philippines out in record bars now.

"I've been craving to record a Christmas album that will be a timeless addition to everyone's music libraries," reveals Sitti about her third studio release, named for the original track "Ngayong Pasko."

The 13-track album features collaborations with Christian Bautista on "Baby It's Cold Outside" and with Las Piñas Boys Choir on "I'll Be Home for Christmas."

The record also includes classic carols "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and "Winter Wonderland," as well as playful ditties "Santa Baby" and "Jingle Bell Rock."

"I hope that you will enjoy the album as much as I enjoyed recording it," says Sitti.

Rico Blanco Launches Solo Album "Your Universe"

Posted by JED on , under , , | comments (0)

Rico Blanco is back in the music scene after parting ways with his band Rivermaya in May 2007.

The former frontman of the 15-year-old Pinoy rock band Rivermaya launches his new solo album "Your Universe" distributed by Warner Music Philippines.

Since he's now a solo artist, after leaving his band last year, Rico collaborated with different musicians to complete the album, which was something he wanted to do for years.

Track 1 (Say Forever) has Eraserheads / The Dawn’s Buddy Zabala on bass, Join The Club’s Paolo Santiago on percs and Sitti Navarro’s Archie Lacorte on sax. Rico handled synths and guitar duties. This song sounded so 80’s / Prince / Queen — perhaps the synths and vocals characterized it.

Your Universe, the second track, has Bamboo’s Nathan Azarcon playing bass, Arch1pelago / Pupil’s Wendell Garcia on drums and the strings segment was played by violinist Denise Huang, Rachelle Alcances, Ma. Christina Pasamba and cellist Ed Pasamba. This sorta reminds me of Snow Patrol. But heck, I’d say despite of its simplicity, this song really shines above the rest.

Yugto, 3rd track and 1st Tagalog song in this album. Rommel dela Cruz (Barbie’s Cradle) and Louie Talan (Kapatid / Razorback) played bass, Hardware Syndrome’s Boyet Aquino and Joseph Concepcion played drums, Radioactive Sago Project’s Wowie Anzano and Pards Tupas played horns. Guitars and synths were played by Rico, as usual. This is the kind that we need right now. It’s very uplifting and inspirational. And I think the mixture of rock and classical parts is the “in thing” right now, see: Coldplay’s Violet Hill and Viva La Vida.

Ayuz ang fourth track, Mojofly / Wink’s JunJun Regalado (drums), Rommel dela Cruz (bass), Rico Blanco (guitars), SinoSikat?’s Nick Azarcon (jam guitars), Archie Lacorte, Precious dela Cruz, Gilbert Francisco, Lowel Lalic of Brass Monkeys (horns). Ayuz is a straightforward blend of Pinoy wit and pop.

Track no. 5 is Helpless, JunJun Regalado on drums and Rico on bass, guitars, synths and additional drums. Perhaps this is an example of what others call “easy sound.” Because it’s easy to play during live and easy to listen to and I’m sure most listeners will find this very easy on the ears.

Since this is Blanco’s first solo album, track 6 is Start Again. It makes sense IMHO: new music, bagong yugto, new career and new (and hopefully better) outlook. Neocolours’ Jack Rufo co-arranged this song.

OuttaThis is the 7th track and there’s nothing truly special to it compared to Yugto or Ayuz. But its minimalist approach is the kicker here, with Rico playing all parts; this is best suit for chillax moments. ;)

On 8th is Para Hindi Ka Mawala, which is an acoustic and taglish song. Possibly, this is Lagim’s open letter to us fans and listeners. I find this song similar to Apo Hiking Society, feel and music-wise.

“Kung ayaw may dahilan, kung gusto palaging merong paraan” Rico Blanco played guitar, bass, drums and piano for Antukin, the ninth track. When you listen to it, makes you think, is 90’s OPM rock back?

The 10th and last cut in this super album is Metropolis. Here’s another of those laid back slash emotional songs from Blanco. Thing I noticed is, he really likes synths.

Indie Film "100" Have Sold-out Screenings in South Korea

Cinemalaya film entry "100" is in competition along with 13 other films in the section called New Currents of the 13th Pusan International Film Festival.

The nine-day Pusan IFF will showcase 317 films from 60 countries. Of these, 133 are world, international or Asian premieres.

100 tells the story of a woman (played by Mylene Dizon) who aims to fulfill all her goals in life in a span of three months because she is dying of cancer. Eugene plays her best friend who helps her cross tasks off her checklist as the end nears. Theater actress-comedienne Tessie Tomas is cast as Mylene's mother in the digital film. Mylene was supposed to attend the Pusan IFF but she did not push through when she learned that she was already pregnant with her second child.

Eugene Domingo and Direk Chris Martinez are currently in South Korea to attend the event. According to Direk Chris:

"We just had our international premiere here at the 2008 Pusan International Film Festival. We are competing against 13 other Asian films in the New Currents section. It is the only competition section here in the biggest film festival in Asia. 100 is the only Filipino film in competition.

"Both our screenings were sold out even before the festival has started. We had our first showing this afternoon [October 4] at 1:30 pm. Eugene Domingo, star of GMA-7's telenovela Ako si Kim Samsoon, was a big hit with the Korean audience and press. They all loved the film--laughter and sobs were heard during the entire screening. It was an exhilarating experience for me, Eugene and producer Marlon Rivera--our first international festival was an unforgettable experience."

In Cinemalaya 2008, the full-length film 100 earned the Audience Award, the Best Actress for Mylene Dizon, Best Director and Best Screenplay Awards for Direk Chris, and the Best Supporting Actress Award for Eugene.

Sam Milby Turns Bad Boy in "Cul de Sac"

Posted by JED on , under , , | comments (0)

Matinee idol and acoustic heartthrob Sam Milby will be trading his good-boy image for a much darker persona when he stars in his first indie film titled Cul de Sac (Dead-end). He will be joined by Chin-Chin Gutierrez and Jodi Sta. Maria in this suspense-thriller about people working in the call center industry.

Written and directed by Juan Miguel Sevilla, Cul de Sac will have its premiere on November 15 and the regular run will take place in all SM cinemas starting November 19.

"My character is a bad boy talaga," says Sam during his Rockoustic press conference held at ABS-CBN last October 7. "He did some things in his past and he wants to redeem himself."

When Sam's character becomes a witness to a murder, he is thrown into an obsessive urge to solve it. His life becomes even more complicated when a menacing tall man stalks his every move and he encounters a mysterious lounge singer (played by Chin-Chin) who might be able to provide answers to his questions.

As he gets closer and closer to the truth, however, he finds himself right back where he started: the past he so desperately wants to escape.

Viewers are given fair warning: "what you see is not always what you get."

Jay-R Goes Back to Acting as Pato in GMA-7's "Lalola"

Posted by JED on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 , under , , , | comments (2)

Prince of RnB Jay-R tries his acting skill once again in the new primetime series of GMA-7 titled Lalola.

The 27-year-old singer excitedly talked about his character, Pato, in the new comedy series.

"Ang tagal na rin since I got into a teleserye, e," said Jay-R. "You know, we're always busy and we're looking for the right part naman. Pero ito naman is a really good part, e."

For this role, Jay-R said he attended some acting workshops. He said, "Actually, maraming preparation this time, e. We did a lot of workshops for drama, for comedy. Okey siya, e. I've never been in a workshop before, pero sa Lalola required talaga, e. So, it was kinda a nice, first time ko."

Jay-R was first seen acting in the movie So Happy Together (2004). It was followed by several TV appearances in shows like Love to Love (2004) and Encantadia (2006). He also appeared in two Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entries, Exodus (2005) and Desperadas (2008). Lastly, he will still be part of the sequel of Desperadas in this year's MMFF.

Alessandra's Future Husband: "Mayaman, Mabait, Gwapo, Matangkad, Hindi Babaero."

Still loveless for two years now, Alessandra de Rossi seems undecided whether she is ready for a serious commitment or not. Ay, huwag muna pala,” she reveals. Is it because being single gives her the freedom to meet more eligible bachelors?

After her controversial relationships with four showbiz boyfriends—including Jeremy Marquez, Oyo Boy Sotto, Polo Ravales, and Biboy Ramirez—the guileless actress admittedly knows that she’s better off without the stress of her history with them. Kailangan kong pagdaanan as a person. Though she’s not the type who closes her doors after a break-up, she further claims that reconciling with any of them has never crossed her mind.

Despite her painful heartbreaks though, Alessandra eagerly says that she is ready to get married if it’s with the right man. But it’s quite impossible as she is looking for perfection in a guy. Kailangan gwapo,” she beams.

Survivor Philippines Update: Patani Daño was Voted Out of Survivor Philippines

Probably the most popular castaway, nanny Patani Daño became the fourth castaway to be cast out of Survivor Philippines.

A few moments after mountaineer Gigit Sulit was unanimously sent home by his tribemates in the Jarakay Tribe, host Paolo Bediones surprised the tribe by announcing that another one of their members will be voted out.

In a surprise turn of events, the Jarakay tribe had to vote out one of their own again without discussing and strategizing how they will cast their votes. Paolo prevented the remaining members of the Jarakay from talking to each other prior to their votes.

In the end, Patani's three votes against her was enough to sent her packing; call center agent Nikki Dacullo and architect Niña Ortiz both got two votes while auto mechanic-model John Lopez got one vote.

The 20-year-old native of Talisay, Cebu took everything lightly and even managed to smile after Paolo announced her elimination from the game.

In her exit interview, Patani said, "Sayang hindi ako nagtagal do'n.

But most importantly, Patani added, "'tapos nagkaroon ako ng ‘exfosyur.'"

Patani is very vocal about her desire to enter the world of showbiz. In fact, the main reason she decided to audition in Survivor Philippines was to get a free ticket into showbiz.

Patani auditioned in StarStruck several times but she never made the cut. Through Survivor Philippines, she got the "exposure" she always wanted.

With Patani's exit, the Jarakay tribe and the Naak tribe are now even with seven members each.

Cristy Fermin Fires Back at Nadia Montenegro

Posted by JED on , under , , | comments (2)

After a fiery interview of Nadia Montenegro with Boy Abunda last September 28 at The Buzz where she specifically aired her anguish on Rose Flaminiano (Gabby Concepcion's estranged Manager) and TV-radio host-showbiz columnist Cristy Fermin, The Buzz, last October 5, allocated necesary airtime on Cristy Fermin to answer blow-by-blow all the accusations made againts her by Nadia Montenegro.

Here is the complete interview of Cristy Fermin with Boy Abunda:

"I LOST A VERY GOOD FRIEND."

Nadia Montenegro: "Seven months ago Tito Boy you know I've lost a very good friend [Gretchen Berretto]. I lost her because of intrigues. I lost her because of Cristy Fermin, who until this day has not proven that text message she told Gretchen that I sent to all these media, to all the reporters.

Ngayon sasabihin mo, 'I lost a good friend,' mali ‘yon Nadia.

‘She made me a slave for four years.' P900-million ang sangkot dito. Hindi P9,000, hindi P90,000. P90-million pesos!

Wala akong show, wala akong pelikula. Hindi ko kailangan mag-comeback. Wala."

"YOU HAVE NO CREDIBILITY ANYMORE."

Nadia Montenegro: "I have to remind Cristy Fermin, you are convicted for libel. You have no credibility no more. I do not know but I have to say this and I have to fight for what I believe in.

For seven months, tinira mo ako.

And what is Cristy's parting words for Nadia?

I know the player
With the slick
Trigger finger
For Her Majesty
Another one
With the
Golden tone voice
And then your fantasy
Another bill
From a killer
Turned a thrill
Into a tragedy

Chorus
A door left open
A woman walking by
A drop in the water
A look in the eye
A phone on the table
A man on your side
Someone that you think
That you can trust is just
Another way to die

Another tricky little gun
Giving solace to the one
That will never see
The sunshine
Another inch of your life
Sacrificed
For your brother
In the nick of time
Another dirty money,
Heaven sent honey
Turning on a dime

Chorus
A door left open
A woman walking by
A drop in the water
A look in the eye
A phone on the table
A man on your side
Someone that you think
That you can
Trust is just
Another way to die

Wo-oh-oh-oh-oh-oah!
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh!
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh!
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh!

Another girl
With her finger
On the world singing?
Another gun thrown down
And surrendered
Took away your fear
Hey!
Another man
That stands right
Behind you
Looking in the mirror

Chorus
Oh, a door left open
A woman walking by
A drop in the water
A look in the eye
A phone on the table
A man on your side
Oh,
Someone that you think
That you can trust
Is just another way to die

Marvel Studios Set Release Dates For Iron Man 2, Thor, and The Avengers

Iron Man's DVD is now available in the market, and now we know when he’ll be back in theaters. Variety reports that Marvel Studios reached an agreement with Paramount to distribute their next few films, and they’ve announced release dates for all of them:

Iron Man 2 - May 7, 2010 (moved from April 30)
Thor - July 16, 2010
The First Avenger: Captain America - May 6, 2011
The Avengers - July 15, 2011

Considering Iron Man 2 is a license to print money for the studio, it’s a smart move letting Iron Man go first again in 2010. After that, anything other than a disastrous loss from Thor is gravy - and we all saw how well low expectations worked for The Incredible Hulk’s public perception. But wait, where’s that 5 come in? Is it referring to Iron Man 3, just a typo on Variety’s half, Hulk 2, or an indication that Edgar Wright’s Ant Man isn’t quite dead yet? No matter what, better mark your calendars now, because summer movie season seems to just keep getting better every year.

JC Tiuseco is the First Pinoy Sole Survivor?

Survivor Philippines is airing for barely 3 weeks and the news on who will be the first Pinoy sole survivor is now circulating in the four corners of showbizlandia....and the source? According to showbizjuice.com are some of the show's staff.

Here's an excerpt of their news article posted on September 30:

"

We hate to spoil the excitement by revealing the big winner but it seems like there is a need to highten the confidentiality clause between GMA 7 management and its production staff.

Again, this is just a news.
