During the promotional pictorial for the KC Concepcion-Richard Gutierrez movie For The First Time last July 8, KC had nothing but good words to say about the Angel. “Pag nagkikita kami, isa siya sa mga babae dito sa ABS-CBN na nakakasundo ko. Kasi si Angel, walang ka-issue issue bilang tao at bilang kaibigan. Secure siya sa trabaho niya at sa sarili niya. Maganda siyang makausap and totoong tao, which I really appreciate kasi hindi lahat ng tao ganun. I admire her for her work and yung pagkatao niya. Maganda lang siyang makausap. Nakakatuwa siya, mabait,” the pretty actress explains. Even her co-star Richard couldn’t help but agree when KC asked him if he also thought that Angel was a genuinely nice person.
When asked how she feels about comments declaring her and Angel as the next queens of the network, KC couldn’t help but show her appreciation that people would think that way despite being her still short stint in the industry. “Siyempre nakakatuwang marinig yung ganun kasi kung tutuusin ilang buwan pa lang naman ako nandito. Kababalik ko pa lang [from studying in Paris],” KC admits.
This is partly why she hopes to find a new friend in Angel, who has been nothing but friendly to her ever since she formally joined showbiz via her Maalaala Mo Kaya episode and I Am KC specials early this year. “Yung mga kaibigan ko from high school and college, wala sa Pilipinas kaya naghahanap ako ng bagong kaibigan dito and if Angel's one of them, then that’s great. I’m happy to hear that and I’m here for her, to support her,” she concludes.
"That's not true! We're still on!"
"She left for the States and she'll be back this Tuesday [July 15]. Kami pa rin po," Derek told Jobert.

Just two weeks ago, Angelica arrived solo during the Star Magic Ball at the Edsa Shangrila, sporting a new hairdo and in the mood to party. During that event, the young actress confirmed that she and hot hunk beau Derek had been going steady for almost two years now and that they were planning something special for their anniversary. But when asked about her date that night, she said that Derek had a prior commitment.
But just barely two weeks after that event, Angelica confessed in an interview that she and Derek would like to have some time off from each other. A source told that even before the press conference started, Angelica was already sobbing inside the dressing room and her eyes were all puffy when she came out to meet the press.
A source further revealed that Angelica admitted that the decision to have a cool-off in their relationship was recent, but their communication lines are still open. "Tinanong ko kung nag-uusap ba sila, nag-uusap naman daw sila.Tapos nung tinanong ko kung nami-miss ba niya, ayun umiyak na," revealed our source.
Rumor has it that Derek's ex-girlfriend, Half-French, half-Pinay Solenn Heussaff, has something to do with the problem. But Angelica denied that rumor.
However, Derek said that he doesn't have any idea why there is such a rumor and that she and Angelica are very much okey, as far as their relationship is concern.
Ikaw ang Pangarap is Martin's first album to contain all Filipino songs. It is a compilation of his Tagalog songs, including the theme songs for ABS-CBN shows Lobo ("Ikaw ang Pangarap"), Vietnam Rose ("Magpahanggang Wakas"), and Lastikman ("Maging Anupaman Para Sa'yo").
According to Martin, he worked twice as hard on Ikaw ang Pangarap compared to any other album he has recorded, citing the fact that he is not as proficient in the vernacular as he is in English.
"Tagalog is such a challenge for me," said Martin. "It has been a dream to record all new Filipino songs. I am glad that this is part of my collection. I am officially a Filipino singer with this album."
Of all the songs in the album, he enjoys singing "Ikaw ang Pangarap" and "Kailangan Kita," both penned by Ogie Alcasid. According to Martin, "Kailangan Kita" demonstrates how Filipino songs should be sung. "My soul is singing, not my mouth," he even quipped.
The 15-track Ikaw ang Pangarap also includes other Filipino songs such as "Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin" and "May Minamahal."

Before Heath's untimely demise, he granted an interview with a group of journalists visiting the set of The Dark Knight in Chicago last year where he plays the evil character "Joker". The following are excerpts from that interview:
Question: Everyone says that you are kind of fearless about taking on this role—is that really true?
Heath Ledger: I definitely feared it anything that fears me, I guess excites me at the same time and, so yeah. I don't know if I was fearless, but I certainly had to put on a brave face and believe that I have something up my sleeve and something that was different.
Q: Did you ever watch Jack Nicholson's version of the Joker?
Heath: Oh yeah, not after I got the role, but I've seen it many times before. I was a huge fan of it and but having seen [director] Chris Nolan's first film, I knew that there was a big difference between a Chris Nolan film and a Tim Burton film. And so therefore there was enough room to for a fresh portrayal. And so I kind of steered away from what Jack did. Hopefully.
Q: Is the new Joker once a normal person? Unlike say, Nicholson's Joker was?
Heath: Yeah, he was once normal. And I definitely came to my own conclusions about Joker's background. I don't know if I might be putting my foot in my mouth by giving you that much, I guess it's my secret at this point. So, I don't know if this is the first time I've had to speak about it. And no one's really prepped me about what to say.
Q: How long does your makeup take?
Heath: About an hour and a half kind of thing. It's pretty quick. They've come up with a new technology for the mouthpiece, as the scars are made out of silicone, not prosthetics. And so they have free silicone stamps that they put on [gestures to his face] here, here, and here. My whole bottom lip is fake, essentially and they glue it on in [gestures to his lips] here, so it takes a half-hour to put those on. And then 20 minutes to a half an hour to paint the face.
Q: What does your child think? Was she scared? [Heath has a daughter with Brokeback Mountain co-star Michelle Williams]
Heath: Um, she just had frowned at him. I don't think she connected me to him.
Q: Tell me about your preparations for the role.
Heath: It's definitely the icing on the cake to do all the research prior to shooting for sure, and there is something about the metaphor to work behind the mask and from within a mask. It always gives you the license to do whatever you want for the freedom, for your feeling like you're being judged or viewed, and so I'm literally wearing the mask now, which empowers me twice as much to kind of feel free and feel unrestrained.
Q: How do you get into this evil character?
Heath: I think we all have it in us. Sometimes I'll connect some scary thoughts. It's kind of like eating raw meat. I don't know what that does to your mouth and your eyes, and simple little visuals like that. That kind of twisted mind a little bit, and it feels evil when it's not necessarily an evil thought, but it may look and come across as evil. I guess the rest is just trusting your research.
Q: Do you have big fight scenes with Christian Bale?
Heath: Christian's beat me up a couple times...
Q: The Joker gets beaten up quite a lot?
Heath: Not hard. He's a total gentleman about it, but you know... been physical, but I enjoyed that I get battered and bruised, I like feeling pain too. It's kind of fun. I like it.
Q: Tell us more about your scenes with Christian because the Joker is the iconic Batman nemesis.
Heath: Well, firstly, it's an honor to work with Christian and the cast in general is pretty outstanding. Every single one of these people I've wanted to work with and have inspired me at some point. It's ridiculous. Gary Oldman is mind blowing. And then after he leaves the interrogation room, Batman arrives and suddenly I realized what movie I was in, and it's quite fun actually because supposedly nothing really gets under Joker's skin, including Batman. It's quite easy as an actor because it's kind of funny seeing somebody dressed up in a Batsuit it's easy to laugh at it, but he's incredibly professional and incredibly focused and one of the loveliest guys I've ever worked with and a brilliant actor. Even down to how serious Christian takes it and how he transforms and his voice shifts, and how aggressive he gets. It's really, really inspiring stuff.
Q: So the concept is that Batman uses fear and I guess the Joker feels no fear of Batman. Is that part of the relationship?
Heath: They can't really live without each other. It's that kind of relationship, like they have no real purpose in life without each other. So they don't really want each other dead.
Q: Could you describe what sets Chris Nolan apart from other directors?
Heath: He drinks a lot more tea than I've ever seen anyone ever drink. That definitely sets him apart. He's so young, but seem so old, and he sees just incredibly mature and organized and relaxed and he's definitely in his world, and he has a wonderful relationship with his DP [Director of Photography]. Those two seem to have the entire world mapped out. And we just kind of follow in their paths. I couldn't imagine what it's like directing a movie but he manages to keep a clear head.
Q: Since he's also the co-writer, did he involve you in any fine-tuning of the Joker's character?
Heath: Me? No. Not really. It was all there it was all on page. They did a really good job.
Q: He seems so serious, how do you know if he likes your performance?
Heath: I guess when he laughs, you know, whenever he's not taking it too seriously which is quite often. It's just the way he holds himself. He seems like this very old soul kind of guy but he is youthful when he talks about his children, you know kind of that... I guess.
Q: Everybody has been saying how dark the film is, is there any moment of kind of twisted fun that the Joker kind of brings with him to the table with him?
Heath: Yeah, all the time. There is nothing consistent about him at all. So he's not consistently dark or consistently fun or funny. He's just going up and down the whole time.
Q: Did you have fun in terms of playing it?
Heath: Yeah, it's the most fun I've had playing a role. I'm really surprised Chris knew that I could do it, or thought that I had something in me like this. And I don't know how he came to cast me to do it. But yeah, it is the bomb. It's definitely the most fun I've had and the most freedom I had and the work schedule is great. I work two days and have three weeks off. It's been like that for six months.
Q: We understand these stunts are a real as possible, and there's not much CGI.
Heath: Christian did want to do his own, but I know Christian, he went and stood up on the Sears Tower himself. They took him right up to the very top, and they took his feet right to the edge and they put him on a thin wire and he just leaned off the tower like this. So I thought that was a pretty cool story. There's been a lot of car chases and there's an IMAX camera that got busted up got jammed between a truck and a car and they just replaced it and kept on shooting.
Q: Is this the most expensive movie you've ever made? Is it different from doing something that's an indie?
Heath: Yeah, it's completely different. It doesn't really change that space of time between action and cut; that's always the same no matter what's around you. It's the same place you live in, but yet the different ball game, it's quite amazing. It's quite jaw dropping. It's been really a lot of fun watching it.
Q: Have you run into Nicholson ever since you got the part?
Heath: Oh, I wish. I never run into him, but I'd like to, I may not literally, but...
Opening on July 17 across the Philippines, The Dark Knight will be distributed worldwide in theatres and IMAX by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.
After his successful Everest climb in 2006, Romi lives up to his reputation as one of the country's finest mountaineers. For two consecutive Wednesdays, July 9 and July 16, viewers will be treated to never-before-seen footage of Romi's Denali summit on the GMA-7 show Born to be Wild.
This is Romi's fifth mountain summit out of the seven highest peaks in all seven continents, known as the Seven Summits. This is a feat no other Filipino has previously made.
When news broke out that Romi had scaled the heights of Denali, cheers and shouts of victory were heard from his friends, colleagues, fellow environment advocates, and fans. Romi, coming home "wrecked and burned" as he described, also brings back stories of a triumphant mountain ascent that mimic a Hollywood movie sequence.
Only this time, the snowstorm isn't fake ice coming from blowers, the deadly slips on the mountain's cliffs aren't shot in a studio, and the emotions of a group of mountaineers in their pursuit of greater and greater heights are all too real.
In Born to be Wild's documentary series titled The Fifth Peak, the IT systems manager for a multinational company regales us with tales of his amazing moments in Denali. Watch clips of Romi Garduce conquering Mt. McKinley in the late-night show Born to be Wild, which airs after Saksi on Wednesdays.
"Actually, mahirap!" natatawang sabi ni Richard. "Kasi yun nga, magte-taping ako ‘tapos magsu-shooting. Siyempre, mahirap lang."
Although, biro niya, hindi pa naman daw umaabot sa level na napagpapalit niya ang pangalan ng dalawang leading ladies niya kapag tinatawag niya.
"Pero alam n'yo, ngayon kasi, I'm just very happy that I have a lot of projects that are given to me. Kahit na mahirap yung trabaho, masaya pa rin ako. Kasi yun nga, marami akong nami-meet na mga tao.
"Ngayon, I'm working with Star Cinema. So, nami-meet ko rin yung team nila and how they make movies. So, I'm meeting a lot of things and I'm very happy. Right now talaga, ang focus ko sa work ko."
But when asked kung ano ang kaibahan ng closeness niya kay KC at kay Heart, natatawa niyang sinabi na, "Pagkatapos ng Greece, doon ko siguro masasagot kung ano ang difference. So abangan n'yo na lang."
But then, Richard believes na iba na naman daw kasi ang mga fans ngayon.
"Ngayon kasi ang mga fans, kapag nire-report sa akin, yung mga fans mo nakakaintindi. Naiintindihan nila. Open-minded na ngayon ang mga fans. May ibang fan base si Heart at may ibang fan base si KC."
Excited na raw siya sa pagpuntang Greece. Incidentally, kasabay ng pilot day ng Codename: Asero ang pag-alis nina Richard at KC papuntang Greece para mag-shooting ng For The First Time.
Hours after he arrived in the country last Saturday, July 5, Arenas met up with the press at the Conservatory of The Peninsula Manila in Makati City for a short chat about his career in National Bastkeball Association (NBA).
The Wizard player is known as the Agent Zero because of the number "0" on his jersey. He also said that he wore this number because people used to say that he would play zero minutes when he went to University of Arizona.
He said, "When I came out in high school, when I was averaging 38 points a game, I chose to go to Arizona. When I was asked to choose my jersey, my jersey was 25, they said he [Steve Kerr, Phoenix Suns] was retiring, it was Steve Kerr's jersey."
Arenas, 26, said that he just asked the number zero on his jersey, which the team fortunately had at that time. "So, I was like, ‘Man, nothing is going right. I don't have my play, I don't have my jersey.' For me, I just stuck with it [zero] and said, you know, this is gonna be my trademark because I have nothing to lose. Back from where I came from, I have nothing to lose," said Arenas.
He also described how the phrase "from zero to hero" inspired him to play his best in every NBA game. He narrated to the press, "You know, it started in college. I scored the last 14 points and we end up beating, I forgot what team, in my freshman year. And a kid had me sign and said, ‘From zero to hero, you're my hero.' When I had to think about it, you know, I was like, you know, ‘from zero to hero.' I just have to use what this kid said and started my career."
On Sunday, July 6, Arenas made a series of outlet visits in SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City, Rockwell in Makati City, and TriNoma in Quezon City. He then had the Agent Tour Statement at the TriNoma activity center.
He also led the official turnover of a basketball court to Gawad Kalinga community as part of Adidas's mission to help promote sports among the youth.
Arenas is scheduled to leave Manila tomorrow, July 8, for his next stop: Europe.

Jennifer left the country last June 18 for Vietnam. But before she left, a send-off party was held in her honor at the Mandarin Oriental Suites in Gateway Mall, Quezon City, on June 12. At the party, Jennifer expressed confidence that she'll bring home the crown and make the Philippines proud.
"I don't have doubts in myself and, of course, I have great people who helped me and I believe in them. I know deep in my heart, really, mananalo ako this year," she said in a TV interview.
The 22-year-old Tourism graduate is driven by the desire to achieve her goals. She attributes her confidence to her being an active youth leader in their church ministry and from the lessons in faith during her experience as a beauty queen.
"Joining Binibining Pilipinas taught me lessons in faith as well—faith in myself, in the things I can do for others, how I can make a difference," she enthuses with a charming smile.
Jennifer values her Binibining Pilipinas experience as it teaches her different values by the day, while she performs her various duties as a reigning queen.
"Most importantly, I have learned a great deal about being independent, how to effectively do things on my own," she adds.
The eldest child of Nestor and Elena Barrientos, Jennifer is always eager to meet new people and hone her talents. She unwinds by engaging in water sports and playing volleyball.
The 5'8" beauty-and-brains previously worked as a Welcome Ambassador for the Star World Hotel in Macau after earning her BS Tourism degree from the University of Santo Tomas.
"I intend to pursue the ongoing campaign for awareness on HIV and AIDS," Jennifer answers when asked about her plans.
She intends as well to advocate the rights of women and children as well as the development of the arts, particularly music.
"I would want to pursue advocacies close to my heart as I believe I will be more productive promoting these causes."
Jennifer radiates true Filipina beauty inside and out, as she strives for her goals, driven by the strength of her faith. She is indeed out to do her country proud as she competes in one of this year's most anticipated beauty pageants featuring the most beautiful women in the world.

Ces is suspended for three months as news anchor of late night newscast Bandila and as Senior Correspondent.
Ces had earlier apologized to her supervisors for disobeying their orders and to her cameramen for unwittingly endangering their lives. During the administrative process, she wrote: "I respectfully accept the sanctions you deem proper in my disregard of your order. I cannot put into words how deeply I regret having put my team in danger ... and having caused anxiety and stress to the whole organization."
In an internal announcement, ABS-CBN News & Current Affairs Head Maria Ressa commended the courage Ces exhibited throughout her ordeal, her presence of mind in sending out coded messages, and her willingness to sacrifice her own life in order to save her news team. Ressa wrote, "Ces, Jimmy and Angelo exhibited the type of teamwork and deep trust that true journalists develop under life and death situations." Despite that, Ressa also stressed the need to hold Ces accountable for the "grave consequences of her error in judgment."
ABS CBN News & Current Affairs strictly adheres to its Standards & Ethics Manual, which states:
"While all reporting of conflict and other hazardous environments involves an element of risk, you must avoid obvious danger and not take unreasonable risks… You may move into a dangerous environment only with the authorization of your supervisor."
