'MY GIRL TURNS 18', Kim Chiu's Debut TV Special

Posted by JED on Saturday, April 19, 2008 , under | comments (3)

In the presscon given by Star Magic for Kim Chiu, the colored pink yells in all parts of the area. The place was decorated with matching pink balloons, pink roses and two huge cakes on the side with of course a touch of pink on each.

Really, to quote Sta Magic Corporate PR, Rikka Dylim, “The very first Teen Big Winner is now a lady!” Kim will be donning a gown designed by Francis Libiran on April 6 at the Glass Garden. The said debut will be the main feature of her television special My Girl Turns 18.

This will be aired on May 04, Sunday, 9:30 in the evening presented by ABS-CBN for all the fans of Gerald Anderson and Kim. Her birthday wish? A pink car. Can Gerald afford this?

The Cebuana cutie immediatelly answered “Hmm..puwede naman siguro yung matchbox lang, basta kulay pink”. Gerald, meron na kaya? Kim’s actual birthday is today, April 19.

Happy Birthday Kim Chiu!

SIGNOS: Banta ng Nagbabagong Klima

Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

Filipino translation ang SIGNOS ng phrase na “state of the times.”

Cristy Fermin, OUT? Kris Aquino, IN? sa The Buzz

Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

It's confirmed!

"And from the start, ang layunin ng show ay maging fair sa lahat. Ibigay ang lahat ng panig ng isyu as much as possible.

Posted by JED on Friday, April 18, 2008 , under | comments (0)

Kaya siguradong malaking challenge ito for Ogie.

Magsisimulang mapanood ang Da Big Show sa April 21, Monday, before Eat Bulaga.

"Nakakaiyak sa Hirap ang mga Eksena Ko sa Dyesebel" - MARIAN RIVERA

Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

"Noong first day ko, kinabahan talaga ako," panimula ni Marian.

May 20 feet at may 10 feet.

"Pinakamahirap yung last take namin ni Dingdong [Dantes, her leading man].

"Nag-workshop naman kaming lahat for the show.

KIMERALD's 'Sana Maulit Muli' a Hit in Taiwan

Posted by JED on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 , under | comments (0)

A Taiwanese television station has begun airing episodes of "Sana Maulit Muli", the hit TV soap that gave birth to the Kim Chiu - Gerald Anderson love team.

Bong Osorio, head of ABS-CBN corporate communications, said that Taiwan Public Television Service Channel 13 bought the rights to "Sana Maulit Muli," which was aired in the Philippines from January 8, 2007 to April 20, 2007.

The show has been dubbed in Taiwanese and renamed "Chances" for the Taiwanese audience. It is being aired in Taiwan Mondays to Fridays at 11 p.m.

Osorio said he hopes the airing of "Sana Maulit Muli" in Taiwan will begin a trend of Filipino-produced series being aired there. He said other TV stations in Taiwan have already expressed interest in acquiring other ABS-CBN titles after the success of "Chances"

Before "Sana Maulit Muli" ABS-CBN sold "Pangako Sa'yo," another drama series to the international market. The show, which stars Jericho Rosales and Kristine Hermosa, has been aired in Southeast Asia and Africa.

CHARICE PEMPENGCO Asked by His Father Not to Use His Last Name

Posted by JED on , under | comments (14)

Let’s start with the sad news: Henceforth, Charice will be known simply as Charice — not Charice Pempengco as she used to be — because her estranged father (and his family) have asked her to stop using that surname.

Well and good because, according to Charice, who’s turning 15 on May 10, the last time she saw her father, Ricky “P,” was 12 years ago. That was the time when Charice’s mom Raquel and Mr. “P” separated.

I haven’t been in good terms with him since then,” said Raquel, who has another child, Carl (13), by him. “I’ve always been a single mom.”

The good news is that, Charice announced during her surprise guesting on dzMM’s celebrity show that she is now recording a few songs before the release of her self-titled album.

The album will include two original songs titled “Born to Love You Forever” and “It Can Only Get Better” composed especially for her by Swedish song artists. It will also include a revival of Whitney Houston’s “And I’m Telling You.”

You guessed it: The album is titled simply Charice.

The name Charice sounds even better without Pempengco, doesn’t it?

RICHARD GUTIERREZ Resigns from "SOP"

Posted by JED on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 , under | comments (0)

Felipe Gozon (GMA president), Annette Gozon-Abrogar (GMA Films president) at Ms. Wilma Galvante (senior vice president for entertainment).

"TIRADOR" Won Three Prizes in the 21st Singapore International Filmfest

Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

Brillante "Dante" Mendoza's Tirador (international title: Slingshot) won three major prizes in the 21st Singapore International Film Festival (SIFF). The awarding ceremony was held last Sunday, April 13, at the National Museum Theatre Gallery.

The social realist film that Director Dante shot in the slum areas of Quiapo was named Best Film at the Asian Feature Film category. Aside from this, Mendoza was also named as the
Best Director.

Rounding out the director's three wins during the night was the NETPAC (Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema) Award. The prize is given by an international, non-profit foundation established in 1990 by UNESCO and Cinemaya, a journal devoted to Asian cinema. The award gives recognition to exceptional Asian films and discovers the next generation of new talents.

The ensemble cast of Tirador is led by award-winning indie regular Coco Martin. Other cast members include Kristoffer King, Jiro Manio, and Nathan Lopez, with the special participation of Julio Diaz, Simon Ibarra, and Jaclyn Jose. Writing credits belong to Ralston Joel Jover with Armando Lao as creative consultant.

According to the website http://www.today.com/, the jury members chose Tirador for having a good mixture of truth of entertainment. "We reached an immediate, unanimous decision choosing Slingshot [English title of Tirador]. Its gritty portrayal of Manila's squatter community was as much an eye-opener as it was entertaining, with generous doses of irony and unflinching honesty," said MediaCorp Radio 938Live presenter and film critic Melanie Oliveiro, who was on this year's main jury.

Other jury members of the SIFF included Chinese director Wu Tianming, Indonesian actor Nicholas Saputra, Vietnamese-American actor Dustin Nguyen and film editor Low Hwee Ling.

Tirador opens with a police raid of a building in the Manila slums where a young boy witnesses his father's death. As the story develops, it gives a glimpse into the intertwined lives of Quiapo residents including small-time crooks, pedicab drivers, prostitutes, and even school kids during the chaotic events of Holy Week and the local elections.

Dante Mendoza has become a recognizable name in the Philippine independent film industry as well as abroad with his previous works such as Foster Child (2007), Manoro (2006), Kaleldo (2006), and his directorial debut, the critically-acclaimed 2005 film Masahista which marked Mendoza's first pairing with then-newcomer Coco Martin.

The Singapore International Film Festival marks its 21st year as an annual film event. It screens around 300 films from over 45 countries. The SIFF also features workshops, seminars, and exhibitions on filmmaking for film students and the film industry.

Posted by JED on Monday, April 14, 2008 , under | comments (0)

Vanessa Hudgens of the famous Disney's High School Musical has just released the music video of her new single “Sneakernight” from her sophomore album Identified.

Watch, listen and check out the lyrics to Vanessa's Sneakernight below:

Put your sneakers on, Put your sneakers on
We’re goin’ dancin’ all night long

I got somewhere to be, I want you to come with me
See I’ve put my sneakers on, Cause I’m gonna keep dancin’
After they all go home

So are you ready? Did you eat? Do you have the energy?

Are you reloaded? Are you able to stay on your feet?
Don’t want you passing out after a couple hours of beats…
We’re keep going, And going, And going, Yeah, Cause

Chorus:
Basically what we’re gonna do is dance (3x)
It will come easily when you hear the beat, oh
Basically what we’re gonna do is dance (2x)

All you gotta do is take a chance
Yeah that’s right, it’s sneaker night

So now they’re closing, Close it up,
Shut it down, go home now
But this far from the end, Second round, Ding,
It’s about to begin
Cause I got comfortable full
Where the weather is nice
So let’s take it outside
The… slam, hands clap
And the beatbox, and it’s all right

CHORUS

Don’t you even worry about other plans
Yeah, that’s right it’s sneaker night!

When the sun goes down, Oh we wake up
I got no sleep. Ha! No need
No compliment staying away
When the beat is like an earthquake

We’re unstoppable, we’re uncontrollable
Just admit it, You can’t stop it, It’s addictive

CHORUS

Put your sneakers on…Let’s go all night long…

If GMA-7 Has "Survivor," ABS-CBN Has "Fear Factor"

Posted by JED on , under | comments (1)

Si Paolo for Survivor Philippines at si Ryan for Fear Factor.

REGINE VELASQUEZ's Leading Men in "Kim Sam Soon" Revealed

Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

For her role, matagal nang nag-aaral ng pagluluto at baking cakes and pastries si Regine.
