DINGDONG DANTES for Medicol TV Commercial

Barely a week after the unveiling of his billboard in EDSA for his Bench Body endorsement, Dingdong Dantes comes up with another advertisement for television.

Dingdong met the entertainment media last March 13, to introduce his newest endorsement, Medicol, at his co-owned restaurant, Circle's Café in Timog Avenue, Quezon City.

After the presentation, Dingdong received praises from the media for continuously receiving product endorsements, which for him is also one indication of having a successful showbiz career.

"Ang range para masabi mong effective, kahit as a person man lang is when, you know, dumarating yung mga endorsements na ganito," explained Dingdong. "So, ito [Medicol] talaga yung isang solid na endorsement. Talagang mayroon pang tagline and everything, dahil ibig sabihin, ipinagkatiwala talaga nila sa akin ang ganung klaseng produkto. It's very flattering and at the same time sana maging ganun na yung momentum, maging ganun na yung lahat."

Since the new endorsement was presented only a few days after he revealed his Bench billboard in Guadalupe, Makati City, the press could not help but ask the difference between the two with regard to talent fee.

Dingdong replied without revealing the amount, "Sa totoo lang talaga, ang Bench naman talaga, ang relationship namin ay hindi TF [talent fee]-based. Like, yung sponsorship pa lang nila sa akin, yung binibigay na damit. Kumbaga, hindi na matutumbasan ng kahit ano yun. Grabe talaga. Sa Marimar, lahat ng gamit ko roon Bench. 'Tapos nakakakuha rin ako sa Celio. So, sa ganung bagay pa lang, at saka ang relationship namin is not TF-based."

The actor-host-endorser also said that Medicol and Bench are two different products so there is no point of comparison.

American Idol 2008 Results: DAVID HERNANDEZ Voted Off!

Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

The American Idol top twelve results show kicked off with a promotional segment for the “Horton Hears A Who” movie. Ryan Seacrest revealed that over twenty-nine million votes were cast for the top twelve finalists. Seacrest also pointed out comedian Jim Carrey in the audience. Carrey was dressed up as an elephant and provided some additional plugs for the “Horton Hears A Who” movie. Carrey is the voice of the elephant Horton in the movie.

The top twelve American Idol 7 finalists performed a group song of Beatles melodies. After a recap of the top twelve performance show, Ryan Seacrest asked Carly Smithson, Michael Johns, Jason Castro, and Syesha Mercado to stand up. Seacrest revealed that Carly, Michael, and Jason were safe, but Syesha was in the bottom three. Seacrest called Syesha down to center stage, where Syesha gave another performance of “Got To Get You Into My Life.”

After the Ford music video, Seacrest introduced a segment on how much the contestants’ lives had changed since becoming a part of American Idol. Seacrest asked Chikezie, Amanda Overmyer, David Cook, and Kristy Lee Cook to stand up. Seacrest revealed that Chikezie, Amanda, and David were all safe, but Kristy was in the bottom three. Seacrest told Kristy to grab the microphone, and Kristy gave another performance of “Eight Days A Week.”

During call-in questions from American Idol viewers, Ryan Seacrest and Simon Cowell were asked why they didn’t just duke it out on stage. Seacrest responded, “I say load in the mud, I’m ready.” Another viewer asked Simon Cowell if America or England had the most singing talent, Simon Cowell conceded that American singers had the most talent, but on the judges’ panel Simon said the Brits were better. Katherine McPhee and David Foster performed “Something.”

After shooing Jim Carrey away from the contestants’ section, Ryan Seacrest called David Archuleta, Brooke White, David Hernandez, and Ramiele Malubay to center stage. Seacrest revealed that David Archuleta, Brooke, and Ramiele were safe, but David Hernandez was in the bottom three. David Hernandez gave another performance of “I Saw Her Standing There.”

Seacrest called the bottom three of Syesha Mercardo, Kristy Lee Cook, and David Hernandez to center stage. Seacrest asked the judges if America selected the right bottom three. Randy Jackson said that it was probably the right bottom three, Paula Abdul said that she had never seen a stronger bottom three, and Simon Cowell said America was spot on. After hearing from the judges, Seacrest revealed that Syesha was safe. Seacrest announced, “After twenty-nine million votes, America has decided that Kristy you are safe.” David Hernandez was eliminated from the competition.

VIVIENNE TAN to Offer Scholarships for Bb. Pilipinas Beauties

Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

Vivienne Tan, the judge who asked Janina San Miguel the crucial question “What role did your family play for you as candidate to Bb. Pilipinas?,” is offering the three Bb. Pilipinas winners — Janina for Miss World, Jennifer Barrientos for Miss Universe in Vietnam and Patricia Fernandez for Miss International in Japan — scholarships at her Entrepreneur School of Asia (in Libis, Quezon City). The offer is also good for the Top 3 losers in the pageant if they pass the school test. Vivienne is also offering Janina a special crash course in English.

The certificates will be handed over to Madame Stella Marquez de Araneta, head of the Bb. Pilipinas Charities, Inc., at a simple lunch ceremony tomorrow, March 14.

MELANIE: Don’t judge Janina; She’s Not a Book!

Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

The whole country’s post-pageant excitement and interest on the annual Bb. Pilipinas search has reached a new high, thanks to Candidate No. 15 Janina San Miguel, at 17 the youngest of the batch of 24, who was so overcome by nervousness during the grand finals last Saturday that, well, you know what happened (it’s all over the YouTube). Her “classic” answer (or lack of it) during the Q&A portion has become part of Manila’s pop culture.
But being unquestionably the most statuesque (awarded Best in Swimsuit and Best in Long Gown) among the aspirants, Janina won the judges’ nod anyway (80 percent on beauty of face and figure, according to the criteria) and went home with the Bb. Pilipinas-World crown which qualifies her to represent the country in the 2008 Miss World contest scheduled later this year in Ukraine.

Have the heckling at the Big Dome and the ensuing put-down comments disheartened the UE Broadcast freshman?

In fact, Janina is taking everything with a grain of salt, laughing at herself along with everybody else. She’s likened to Melanie Marquez whose “I love my long-legged” answer to the final question didn’t stop the judges from declaring her Bb. Pilipinas-International in the 1979 pageant, saying “Beh!” to her critics and detractors by proceeding to bag that year’s Miss International title (the third Filipina to do so, after Gemma Cruz in 1964 and Aurora Pijuan in 1970, followed by Precious Lara Quigaman in 2005).

I may not be good in English,” Melanie would joke again and again. “But look, what I have (And a Supermodel first runner-up trophy to boot. — RFL). Magaling nga ‘yung ibang mag-English pero may international beauty title ba sila?” Well said. Beh!

Contacted by Funfare for comment, Miss Malaprop herself naturally came to Janina’s defense.

Is Melanie (whose compilation of her quotable quotes is taking time off the launching pad) offended being compared to Janina?

Not at all. I can only sympathize with Janina. She’s 17, baguhan sa beauty contest. I was only 15 when I joined the Binibini. Siempre, natural na ma-nerbiyos si Janina.”

The public shouldn’t be hard on Janina, according to Melanie who said, paraphrasing her own quotable quote,

Don’t judge Janina; she’s not a book!”

Melanie’s sisterly advice to Janina?

“Sige lang. Don’t be discouraged. You have seven months to improve and prepare before the Miss World contest. Take crash courses in speech; you can overcome your weak points. Remember, what counts most is your bearing and your total look. If your morality and breeding are okay, then wala kang dapat ikahiya o ikatakot.”

BRITNEY SPEARS Will Play Secretary on “How I Met Your Mother”

Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

CBS has confirmed that Britney Spears will be a guest star on an episode of How I Met Your Mother this season. Brit Brit will play a secretary at a dermatologist’s office!!!!

I was shocked that Madame Spears was willing to come and do some acting,” HIMYM star Neil Patrick Harris recently told Entertainment Tonight. “She hasn’t acted in a while. This is a very interesting role. It is very not like her at all in real life in any of her previous chapters. She plays the secretary to another girl that Ted (Josh Radnor) is after. So, it will be very unlike any Britney we have seen before, and we have seen a lot of Britney recently.”

Brit was supposedly seen on set yesterday in L.A. chatting with Radnor. Her episode will air on March 24th.

How I Met Your Mother airs on Mondays @ 8PM ET/PT on CBS. Former MTV VJ Vanessa Minnillo will also guest star on the show’s March 17 episode. Brit’s episode will air on March 24.

Bryan Singer will be back for a sequel to the hugely successful Superman Returns.

“That movie made $400 million!” Singer tells Empire Online incredulously. “I don’t know what constitutes under-performing these days…Look, I can understand, I suppose, what some people mean. Perhaps some people went in with the expectation of it being like an X-Men film, and Superman is a tougher character than that. Especially bringing him back. It really goes back to the fact that you can only please some of the people some of the time. But, yes, I’m just getting back with writers after the strike. We’re just in the development phase. I’m starting to develop a sequel…with the intention of directing it.”

“The first one was a romantic film and a nostalgic film,” he adds. “I’ll be the first person to own up to that without making any apologies for it. I knew it was going to be that from the outset. And now that the characters are established, there’s really an opportunity to up the threat levels…Clearly there’ll be a body count [laughs]. From frame one, it will be unrelenting terror! All those teenage girls who found the movie and mooned over James Marsden or Brandon [Routh]? Well, I’m going to wake them up!”

CLAUDINE BARRETTO Charged with Libel and Perjury by Former Assistant

Posted by JED on , under | comments (1)

Actress Claudine Barretto-Santiago was charged with libel and perjury before the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office yesterday morning, March 11.

The complainant is a former personal assistant of Claudine named Nancy Jiji Cruz, who is a resident of No. 52 Q. Valencia Street, Barangay Valencia, Quezon City. She claimed that the actress was lying in her complaint-affidavit for qualified theft, which Claudine filed against her last January.

Cruz added in her complaint-affidavit that Claudine knew that there were no stolen or missing items in her house at No. 18 Nova Scotia Street, Loyola Grand Villas, Quezon City, and that no witness to the alleged theft was positively declared.

It was on December 27 that Claudine reported the alleged theft at the Quezon City Police District Station 9. She claimed that her former personal assistant allegedly took P300,000 worth of jewelry and cash, including several checks and the birth certificate of her son, Rodrigo Santino.

The actress told the police that she learned about the incident on Christmas day, December 25, and suspected that it was Cruz who stole the items because she allegedly left the house without asking permission.

On December 30, Margaret Barretto-Santiago, Claudine's real name, filed a case against Cruz before the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office. She claimed that Cruz stole P27,000 in cash, three sacks of Folded & Hung apparel, including shirts; a boxful of Secosana bags and wallets, Randy Ortiz gowns, south sea pearl earrings, which allegedly cost P500,000, and insurance papers.

On the other hand, according to a report published in People's Journal today, March 12, Cruz denied these allegations and reasoned that it is highly improbable and physically impossible and for her to carry and bring out three sacks of clothes and shirts by herself, even with the assistance of her three-year-old kid.

Cruz further argued that she sought permission from Claudine to leave on the morning of December 26, bringing only paper bags containing Christmas gifts. Cruz also stressed that Claudine would not allow her to bring out her personal belongings, so she did not bring any bag. Furthermore, the former assistant said the security guards of the village inspected her things before she was allowed to leave.

In a separate complaint-affidavit, Cruz also charged Claudine with violation of the Social Security Act of 1997. She claimed that Claudine allegedly failed to report her employment and services for coverage with Social Security System (SSS) after she was hired as a personal assistant and domestic helper in March 2001.

The former assistant stressed that she did not enjoy the benefits of the social security law because Claudine failed to remit her contributions to the SSS.

As of press time, Claudine has yet to give her side of the story.

SHERYL CRUZ and Husband NORMAN BUSTOS to File for Divorce

Posted by JED on , under | comments (2)

I are filing for divorce anytime now."

I would like to get in contact with you as soon as possible. This is in regards to Sheryl and I..."

NO SIGNS.

NO THIRD PARTY.

Paliwanag ni Norman, "Our long periods of separation have taken their toll. Four years is a long time. She's there working and I'm here working. We have taken different career paths. I understand that she enjoys working in showbiz and she understands that I can't leave my job [in San Francisco]. "

"I can't join Sheryl in the Philippines and be a burden to her," dagdag niya. "You see, I'm used to working and earning my own keep since I was young and I just couldn't depend on my wife to support me. That's not me. I think we are faced with irreconcilable differences, so... This is a very hard decision for us to make. It's great when we are together but life is just hard and lonely for me when I'm alone, living by myself in our big house. It's a situation that is just unhealthy for any couple."

"We have regular communication, we are friendly to each other, contrary to rumors that we have had clashes. We are okay," paglilinaw ni Norman.

"Our main concern now is to give our daughter a good life, a good future," sabi ni Norman.

AMERICAN IDOL 7 — Top 12 — Who Was Your Favorite?

Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

And so there’s a new set, a new opening credits — and both servers crashed — what’s up with that? Sigh. I am so stressed. Which was compounded by the fact that most of my favorites are in jeopardy! I actually cried when Ramiele Malubay sang, but then all three judges hated her. Randy Jackson even went on to say that she might be eliminated tomorrow. David Hernandez was accused of doing too much with his song — which is true — but his eyebrow movements are awesome! I love him!

Thankfully, Amanda Overmyer gave a brilliant performance even if she was still panned by Simon Cowell. Would love to see Amanda on the tour. Jason Castro was also panned, but I think he is safe.

Carly Smithson is finally getting some praise, and she’s as scary as ever. I mean: Will she actually win? Is it going to happen? Will I be denied my shock elimination this year???

David Cook and Brooke White gave awesome performances. I love Brooke. She cried. She’s so motherly.

Michael Johns began hitting some notes again — and yes, with Michael, David C, Brooke and Carly — this show is now reminding me of RockStar: INXS and Supernova! Is this really the direction that this show wants to go?

Kristy Lee Cook gave the worst performance this season of any Idol by doing a Beatles-song country-style. And unfortunately for Syesha Mercado and Chikezie, they sang #1 and #2 — which is the classic setup for elimination in the Top 12. The writing is on the wall with Chikezie getting praised by the judges with his performance — although it may very well be Ramiele Malubay going home tomorrow which is why I’m so stressed out — remember her fans don’t dare buy any of her music — maybe she really has no fans!

And finally, the biggest shock of the night: Our poor baby David Archuleta choked under the pressure. I felt so bad. He was so stressed from his interview up to the performance. It’s going to be David vs. the Goliaths from here on out. We can still pull this off. Arch Angels, we have a mission! Go David Archuleta!

Filipino-American Ramiele Malubay performs “In My Life” on American Idol Top 12

David Archuleta performs “We Can Work It Out” on American Idol Top 12

David Hernandez performs “I Saw Her Standing There” on American Idol Top 12

Michael Johns performs “Across the Universe” on American Idol Top 12

Brooke White performs “Let It Be” on American Idol Top 12

Kristy Lee Cook performs “8 Days a Week” country-style on American Idol Top 12

Amanda Overmyer performs “You Can’t Do That” on American Idol Top 12

David Cook performs “Eleanor Rigby” on American Idol Top 12

Carly Smithson performs “Come Together” on American Idol Top 12

Jason Castro performs “If I Fell” on American Idol Top 12

Chikezie performs “She’s A Woman” on American Idol Top 12

Syesha Mercado performs “Got To Get You Into My Life” on American Idol Top 12

The Singing Bee, newest Show (Karaoke/Game Show/Quiz Bee) on ABS-CBN will start soon (auditions on-going natiowide). Teaser of the show are already aired on the said network.

How to play The Singing Bee? Here's how:

At the start of the show, the band plays a song and the host "randomly" gives audience members a chance to sing part of the song. If they sing it correctly, they become one of the contestants on the show. This part of the show is actually staged, and the contestants are preselected.

Round 1
The host would provide the year the song was released, the performer, and the name of the song. A portion of the song is performed, and then the contestant has to attempt to sing the next line of the song. If correct, they advance to the next round, and a new song is introduced, which the next contestant in line must attempt; if not, they have to step back, and the next person in line tries the same song. A song is thrown out if none of the remaining contestants get the lyric correct. The first four people (three people in season two) who get a song lyric correct move on to the second round.

Round 2
The contestants who advanced go up in pairs to play a mini-game. The winner of the game advances to the championship round. (Note that these games are the only ones that have aired so far. As more episodes air, more games will likely be played.)

* "Scrambled Lyrics": While the band is performing, words from the next line are shown scrambled on screen. The contestant is required to sing the line in its correct order. When one contestant is correct and the other is wrong at any point, the one who was correct moves on to the Championship Round.

* "Karaoke Challenge": While the band is performing, the contestant sees the words to the song in karaoke fashion. As the contestant sings the song, he or she will also see blanks, each representing a word in the song. The player who fills in the most blanks correctly (out of a possible 15) wins and goes on to the Championship Round.

* "Blind Start": The band plays the beginning notes of a song. When the band stops, the contestant must sing the opening line correctly. One of the three contestants is eliminated from the second round.

* "Playlist": The three contestants are given 6 categories of song which have comical titles. Whichever two contestants have the most points after the 6 songs move on to the next round.

* "Singing with the Enemy": The band plays part of a popular song. The first contestant must do the next line when the band stops playing. The band then picks up with the line the contestant said and stops. The next contestant continues on with the song. This goes through 3 passes. The two with the highest score move on.

Chorus Showdown
This follows a similar format to the first round, but instead of singing a line, the contestant is required to sing the entire chorus without mistakes from the song performed. If both are correct or incorrect (sometimes after two rounds), then they go to a tiebreaker, where they are given the year and the name of the performer and the first person to buzz in will be given the option of singing or passing. If the singer is correct, they win. If the singer is wrong, the other contestant wins. The winner moves on to the Final Countdown.

The Final Countdown
Ray Chew introduces this concluding round by announcing in song: "It's the Final Countdown!" (based on a song called "The Final Countdown" by hard rock band Europe.) Up to 7 songs are performed in a similar manner to the first round, but the contestant knows nothing about the song, (artist, title, year) and thus must use the lyrics in order to win the big money. For each song lyric that is sung correctly, the player wins $5,000. If the player gets five right, then they win $50,000. However, if they sing a lyric incorrectly, a strike is given. If three strikes are given at any point, the game is over, but the contestant still wins whatever money was accumulated up to that point. Beginning in the second season, the winning contestant also defends as champion title to face three more challengers.

TV Ratings (March 7-10): "Marimar" Fever Reaches the Daytime Race

Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

With three nights left before its final episode, Marimar continues to dominate the ratings game, not only in the primetime race but also in the daytime race.

Last Sunday, March 9, Marimar had its farewell party on SOP, where almost half of the show was devoted to the No. 1 primetime show in the country. This was immediately followed by a farewell special, Marimar...Isang Pasasalamat, hosted by lead stars Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes.

It was a double victory for Marimar since SOP ruled the daytime race with 21.4 percent while Marimar...Isang Pasasalamat was a close second with 19.9 percent.

Showbiz Central, meanwhile, once again won the battle of Sunday talk shows by taking the third place with 15.6 percent versus The Buzz's 12.1 percent, which is good for No. 6. Incidentally, Showbiz Central featured the "wedding" of Marimar and Sergio.

ASAP '08 tied with Your Song at No. 5 with 12.2 percent.

In the primetime race, the magazine show Mel & Joey grabbed the No. 1 position with 29.1 percent, followed by Kap's Amazing Stories (27.6 percent), Tok! Tok! Tok! Isang Milyon Pasok (26.2 percent), Rated K (21 percent), and All Star K (20.2 percent) to complete the Top 5.

Marimar also continued its domination in its regular timeslot, taking the No. 1 spot Friday (March 7) and Monday (March 10). On both nights, Kamandag and Joaquin Bordado placed second and third, respectively.

Now on its final week, the Koreanovela Coffee Prince took the fourth spot Friday with 33.6 percent but it dropped to No. 8 Monday with 23.8 percent. This was caused by the addition of another Koreanovela titled The Legend in the primetime block of GMA-7. Taking the original timeslot of Coffee Prince, The Legend premiered at No. 5 with an impressive 31.5 percent just behind 24 Oras' 31.7 percent.

TV Patrol World and Kung Fu Kids maintained their sixth and seventh positions, respectively, on both nights.

Lobo and Palos, on the other hand, were consistent at No. 9 and No. 10, respectively. Although Lobo hit a below-20 percent rating for the first time last Friday with 19.4 percent.

In the daytime race, Eat Bulaga! and Daisy Siete were the only consistent shows, taking the top two slots. The ranking from No. 3 to No. 10 was completely different on Friday and Monday.

Eat Bulaga! also maintained its No.1 position last Saturday (March 8) with 23 percent. StarTalk placed second with 17.6 percent while Wowowee was No. 3 with 15.2 percent.

In the primetime race, the magazine show Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho was No. 1 with 34.8 percent. The rest of the Top 5 went to Imbestigador (32.1 percent), Bitoy's Funniest Videos (31.5 percent), Kakasa Ka Ba Sa Grade 5? (22.percent), and TV Patrol World (17.8 percent).

The controversial Binibining Pilipinas 2008 took the No. 7 position by virtue of its 15.7 percent rating, behind 1 vs. 100's 16.7 percent where Piolo Pascual was the celebrity contestant.

JUDY ANN SANTOS in 'Ploning'

Posted by JED on , under | comments (6)

In celebration of Judy Ann Santos‘ 30th birthday, she will star in the ground-breaking film “Ploning” which is set to premiere on April 30, 2008. Ploning is the first movie produced by Panoramanila, a new film outfit composed of young Filipino filmmakers coming from both independent and commercial cinema industries.

Panoramanila fuses independent cinema spirit with commercial filmmaking sensibilities. Their first feature film, Ploning, is shot with live sound and in the traditional 35 mm. film format, so basically, this is not a digital movie.

The Judy Ann starrer was shot entirely in Cuyo Island, Palawan, showcasing its breath-taking sceneries.

The main inspiration of the film is from the popular Cuyonon folk song, “Ploning”. It presents the story of a Cuyonon woman’s promise, her struggle with hope and love told from the point of view of a young boy.

BARON GEISLER, Tatay ng Youngest Child ni Nadia Montenegro?

Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

"You know what? Isa lang, kahit na pasaway ako, hindi ako ganun katapang at hindi ganun katanga na gawin ‘yon, lalo na nakilala ko si Tito Boy [Asistio, Nadia's partner]. So, hindi ko magagawa ‘yon."

Itinanggi ni Baron na siya ang ama ng bunsong anak ni Nadia.

"I don't think may ganun si Nadia. She's a family friend. Kaibigan siya ng mommy ko. I will stick beside her and

It's all bull... It's not true," mariing sabi ng young actor.

From then on, hindi na ba sila nagkita o nagkusap ulit ni Nadia?

"Well, more on sa mommy ko," sagot ni Baron. "Kasi kabarkada niya si Mommy ko. Kaming dalawa? Well, siyempre ganun na rin. Minsan get together. That was a long time ago. Not ten years ago, mga recently lang.

Basta you know me, ayokong masangkot-sangkot sa gulo nila kung may gulo man sila. Buhay nila ‘yan. I'm starting a new life."

So, kung gago man ako, hindi ako ganun kagago," pahayag niya.

You know naman how crazy ang mundo ng show business," sabi niya.

Kailan sila huling nagkita ni Nadia?

"Tagal na," sagot ni Baron. "Di ba, PBB [Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition 2]? Ang tagal na kasi ang dami kong ginawa. I think a year.

"Pero ngayong may isyu na, hindi pa kami nagkikita. Wala akong alam na ganyang isyu. Nakokornihan kasi ako sa mga ganyang isyu. Alam ko may gulo sila, pero hindi ko alam na nasasangkot ako. So, nakaka-bad trip. Nakaka-bother kasi it' a big issue. Ayokong maging parte ng isyung ito dahil hindi ko kailangan sa buhay ko."
May plano ba siya na tawagan si Nadia pagkatapos lumabas ang isyung ito?

"Right now, she's busy talaga, e. Hindi ko nakakausap. Pero kung may pagkakataon, why not? Kukumustahin ko siya. Nandito ako bilang kaibigan niya."

Kamukha raw kasi ni Baron ang bunsong anak ni Nadia. Ano ang masasabi niya rito?

"Talaga? E, di maganda. Ayos ha," nangingiting sagot ni Baron. "Alam mo, maraming ganyan, basta mestiso. Kahit sa Pampanga, may isyu ako na ganyan five years ago. Basta mestiso, anak mo na."

May anak na nga ba siya?

"Wala pa," diin ni Baron.

What if meron na pala pero hindi lang niya alam?

"Why not? Basta alam kong totong anak ko. Right now, I don't think I'm ready na. Marami pa akong gustong
gawin sa buhay ko," sambit ni Baron.

Supah Papalicious - Full Trailer

Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

Gilbert Perez directs the script written by Jullian Abuda about a man who has to win the heart of the kid of the woman he has fallen in love with.

A boy and a girl make an album of their families and the family they want to have. But the characters on their album are paper cut outs from magazines and their own drawing. In spite of this, both still look happy and innocently in love.

With bowls of porridge, the bunch of kids swear to become family to each other. The gang is obviously the least wanted by foster parents and is in danger of reaching adulthood in the orphanage. The little girl gets adopted the following day. The little boy goes after her to say goodbye and give her the album they made. The rest of the gang follows him and they meet an exciting misadventure that includes cows, crops, the authorities, a dead man, a sinking ship, and the jungle called Metro Manila where they start their new life.

Nymfa (Pokwang) is a staff of a make-up and prosthetics artist. Macho (Empoy Marquez) is a lover boy. Macho (Mura), well, not much has changed in him since he was little. The little boy is now known as Adonis (Vhong Navarro). Together with his gang from the orphanage, they bought three food kiosks that transform to make Foodash. It is their humble source of living.

Blaming himself for his friends' misfortune, Adonis doubts his own capabilities and always bows to his friends' wishes. He desires only one thing, to be loved and to have a family of his own. But he doesn't know how to get it until fate intervenes and brings Athena to Adonis' life. They get along well and his feelings for this lovely and very caring woman just grew. However, he realizes that the only way to her heart is through Atong, her son.

For Adonis, challenging isn't enough to describe Atong. Aside from being mischievous, he also demands one great quality from any man who wishes to have his mother: he has to come from a big family.

Desperate to have the woman and the kid he has already learned to love, Adonis does the greatest performance of his life. Using Nymfa's props, costumes and make-up, he creates his own family in himself. Adonis becomes Tita Barbara, Lola Paulina, and cousin Apol Dayap. His 'family' wins Athena and Atong for Adonis. But his lie won't last long. Athena discovers his betrayal and throws Adonis out of their lives.

Is there still hope for their funny yet poignant story? Will they still become a family?

MARIAN RIVERA to Do a Movie with Dolphy and Vic Sotto

Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

For Marian Rivera, the Comedy King comes first before her favorite leading man. That's as far as her movie scheduling is concerned.

Follow-up sa naisulat na report ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) tungkol sa pelikulang Amnesia starring Marian, Dingdong Dantes, and Iza Calzado. Sigurado pa ring matutuloy ito as one of the scheduled movies of GMA Films, but this will have to wait dahil mas una na palang natanguan ng manager ni Marian na si Popoy Caritativo ang first team-up ng Comedy Kings na sina Dolphy at Vic Sotto sa pelikula.

After Marimar magkakaroon muna ng two-week training ang young actress for swimming lessons with Marissa Floreindo during and after Holy Week. By the time she starts taping Dyesebel, magsisimula na rin siya ng kanyang follow-up movie after My Best Friend's Girlfriend.

"Mauuna ang Dolphy-Vic movie," sabi ng manager ni Marian. "Ito na ang natanguan namin. Nakakahiya namang masira ang schedule nila dahil kay Marian."

It was Dolphy himself who requested that Marian be part of his first team-up with the heir to his throne, Vic Sotto.

The movie will be produced by APT Films of Mr. Tony Tuviera and M-ZET Productions of Vic Sotto.

RUFFA GUTIERREZ Reacts to the Victory of Janina San Miguel in Bb. Pilipinas

Posted by JED on , under | comments (4)

Miss World 1993 2nd princess Ruffa Gutierrez is just one of the many people who were disappointed with the result of this year’s Bb. Pilipinas pageant, specifically to Janina San Miguel winning the Bb. Pilipinas World title. Janina became the talk of the town after her infamous response in the question and answer portion of the pageant last Saturday night.

Janina San Miguel won 2 special awards last Saturday - the coveted Best in Swimsuit and Best in Long Gown. But her question and answer was a disaster. Other girls who are equally stunning but gave brilliant answers didn’t win any title.

Danielle Castano, the winner of Miss Photogenic award, was the crowd favorite and the choice of pageant experts to represent us in Miss Universe but she ended up first-runner up only.

We haven’t placed in Miss Universe since 1999 when Miriam Quiambao was able to grab the first runner-up honors. With the results of this year’s Bb. Pilipinas, experts believe the drought will continue.

Relive the moment, here’s Showbiz Central’s take:

Quoting Critical Beauties:
[If you think Miss South Carolina Teen USA Laurie Upton’s geography-related answer was dumb, wait ’til you watch and listen to Janina San Miguel’s response to her interview question, “What role did your family play with you as candidate to Binibining Pilipinas?” The Philippines boasts as the third-largest English-speaking country in the world (after USA and Britain), but after hearing how some of these girls butcher the English language, not to mention their inability to listen to the question, it makes you wonder how these girls even made it past the fifth grade?]

VICTORIA BECKHAM in ‘Fashion Nightmares’

Posted by JED on Monday, March 10, 2008 , under | comments (0)

Victoria "Posh Spice" Beckham will have her own reality fashion tv series produced by US TV network Fox.

The show will be patterned after the sizzling unscripted series Kitchen Nightmares hosted by the Scottish Gordon Ramsay. Ramsay hits the road and try to save restaurants in crisis to get back on the map. This show is a big hit to American viewers.

The show which is in the conceptualization stage will be called Fashion Nightmares. Victoria will be traveling around America to look for unfashionable unfortunates and will be given the necessary style make-over.

According to British’s Marie Claire magazine report: “They want her to visit some boutiques and beauty pageants in real backwater towns and to try to whip them into chic shape. A couple of A-listers have recommended her, saying her humor and knowledge has yet to be fully explored.”
